You say, 'Hail, Royal Armorer Slade' Royal Armorer Slade says 'Welcome, ______. I'm Slade, Royal Armorer to the Dain and his personal guardsmen. I've heard yer name once or twice in these halls and apparently ye'ver earned the respect of my people. In light of that I'm willin ta offer my [services] to you if'n ye need them.' You say, 'What services?' Royal Armorer Slade says 'If'n ye've had the fortune to earn any of the plate helms that are made by my people in the city then I can use my skills to custom fit and detail it for a Human of yer like. I can do this fer the Dark Runed Crown, the Runed Protector's Helm, the Resonant Helm, the Crown of Forbidden Rites, Crown of the Kromzek Kings, Frostreaver's Velium Crown, Cowl of Mortality, and the Champions Crown. Simply hand me one of these and I'll do the work for you.' Upon hand in, Royal Armorer Slade says, 'Here you are, XXXXX. Ah, a perfect fit! May it serve you well.' Did this last night with Amiable Faction to the COLDAIN, not Dain Frostreaver's personal faction. Only took about 30-40 giant kills from the Apprehensive faction everyone starts out with their first time in Thurgadin. Doing the turn-in does result in some minor Xp gain, but no faction hits.
very disappointed to see that for a Luclin model DE female the Custom Crown of Forbidden Rites looks like the common plate style 'skullcap'. BUT for the old model darkelf female, it's a dark bullet-shaped helmet with flames coming up from the bottom. It would look match Luclin model plate legs for dark elf females. Since no one uses old models anymore, you cant really show it off. =(

just a side note. If you con the guards at Icewell Keep and they aren't ally or warmly to you, don't be worried. Royal Armorer Slade is with the Coldain faction. everybody in Icewell keep was dubious to me, but Slade was ally conning.

Yeah i was majorly bummed to see the lame ol plate graphic with luclin models on, instead of the sweet Dragon helm of the pre-luclin era.
Just so you know, handing in your helm WILL make you lose any aug you had on it. Trust me, i just tested it out.

ok now what the hell does this quest do other than change the name of the helm i thought it was same stats but no graphic but it has the SAME stats and the SAME graphic just a different name so what is the point of quest except for in the case of a CoM

This quest gives velium helms a unique look if you aint running luclin models. it's a shame they ruined the unique look with luclin tho..
and it's nice to make cowl of mortality into nice plate looking helm too. =)

The Cowl of Mortality has a chain helm graphic and the Custom Cowl of Mortality has a plate helm graphic.
This guy is right near Dain's room. All you have to do is hand in the helm to him and you've got ur new helm
you have to be warmly to coldain. and i am getting ready to turn it in, i will give a link

Jimbox the point in doing this is purely cosmetic. I do prefer the look of the custom cowl on my ranger though, looks like an antlered helm.

All I get from the posts are its customized now. For those bragging about the looks can you please submit pix to allakhazam for the fashion pages? I dont mean to make a rude post but looks usually mean nothing to me, but I would like to do the quest if its that nice.
