This quest is only available to people who purchased the Lost Dungeons of Norrath expansion box set via retail. Obtain a Satchel of Abu-Kar by typing /claim at the command line, limit one per account.

You say, 'Hail, Kizpi Taelwx'

Kizpi Taelwx says 'Greetings! I see you have a fabulous Satchel of Abu-Kar in your possession. You are very lucky indeed to own such a wondrous item! I can however introduce to you a way to make it even better! Are you [interested]?'

You say, 'I am interested.'

Kizpi Taelwx says 'By gathering some items from the recently discovered dungeons around Norrath, your satchel can be upgraded to hold more items and become even more efficient. Journey to the Adventurer's Camp in the Commonlands and talk to Kayci Strahtin. Take this note to him. It details the very difficult process of upgrading your satchel. Do not worry however. You need no knowledge of how to upgrade it yourself. My friends will assist you if you can gather the appropriate components. Stop by again some time! Safe travels.'

You receive Kizpi's Note. Go to Commonlands and give the note to Kayci Strahtin.

Kayci Strahtin says 'Incessant fleas! Ever since I arrived in the Commonlands, they have plagued me! Oh, sorry. What's this? A note from Kizpi? Let me see. So the ol' bugger finally found a way to upgrade the Satchel of Abu-Kar, eh? It says here that you will need a Rujarkian Orc Hide. You are in luck, I just happen to have one that a previous adventure gave to me from his recent excursion to the Rujarkian Hills. You may have it. You will need some other items though. Kizpi didn't know about that?! His brain must be freezing out there in Everfrost!' Kayci makes some new notes. 'Take this note to Shelie Dikop at the Adventurer's Camp in North Ro. Tell her to come here and scare these fleas away with her ugly face!' Kayci laughs. 'Perhaps that would be a bad idea. Just hand her this note when you find her. Good luck to you.' Kayci begins to furiously scratch at the fleas behind his ears.'

You receive Kayci's Note and a Rujarkian Orc Hide. Go to the Northern Desert of Ro and give the note to Shelie Dikop.

Shelie Dikop says 'Dis note covered in cat hair! Oh, Kayci give to you. Make sense now. You want upgrade your satchel? You need a Stone Frog Skin from Takish'Hiz. I have one. I guess I don't need it anymore. You can have. You need other things though if you want upgrade bag.' Shelie begins to scribble something on the note you gave to her. 'Take this note to Jilsuia Lluarea in Butcherblock camp. Mebbe she have another item you need to upgrade bag. Bye bye.'

You receive Shelie's Note and a Stone Frog Skin. Go to Butcherblock Mountains and give the note to Jilsuia Lluarea.

Jilsuia Lluarea says 'This note is covered in filth! Oh, it is from Shelie, that explains it.' Jilsuia holds the note in front of her by the top corner and begins to read it. 'I can barely make out this scrawl that that ogre calls writing, but I believe it says you need some Bloodguard Mummy Wrappings from the Mistmoore Catacombs. It's your lucky day, and obviously not mine, I do have some mummy wrappings. Take them. Just don't take them out of the protective case until they can be cleaned, lest you get a flesh rotting disease that will make the next month of your life a living nightmare as you slowly die a horrible, agonizing death. Don't say I didn't warn you. Why must I be surrounded by all this filth? I am much too good for this. That is the price I pay for living the life of an adventurer, I suppose.' Jilsua makes some notes of her own. 'Take this note to Dahdd Jonne. He is at the camp in South Ro unless he is off in Rivervale stuffing his fat face.' Jilsua continues to mumble to herself as you walk away.'

You receive Jilsua's Note [sic] and some Bloodguard Mummy Wrappings. Go to the Southern Desert of Ro and give the note to Dahdd Jonne.

Dahdd Jonne says 'Ahoy there! Dahdd Jonne, tailor extraordinaire at your service! What's this? A note from, Jilsua? Always a pleasure!' Dahdd stuffs a whole bixie berry bun into his mouth. 'Mrpmpphh. Says you are on a quest to upgrade your Satchel of Abu-Kar. Very interesting!' Dahdd wipes his hands on his clothes. 'Let's see here. I think I can do this. Hand me your Rujarkian Orc Hide, Stone Frog Skin, and your Bloodguard Crypt Mummy Wrappings, oh and of course your Satchel of Abu-Kar. Don't worry, I won't ruin it. At least I don't think I will.'

Give him the four items to receive the Reinforced Satchel of Abu-Kar.

Dahdd Jonne takes the items and puts them into his tailoring kit. He begins to furiously sew them together. 'Ah bugger. Seems this one is a failure. Ha! Got ya! Just kidding there, friend. Here you go! One Reinforced Satchel of Abu-Kar! Kizpi's directions were pretty good, even if he did forget to include a few items! My best work yet If I don't say so myself!'

Happy EQ anniversary

I hadn't checked this page since 2003... But now there is a new game in store, the EQ anniversary pack, all 12 in 1... If you buy it you will get TWO satchels of Abu-Kar plus TWO roboboars along with other goodies...

If you have a gnome in your pool I strongly recommend to give him one of the 2 roboboars since it can be upgraded with tinkering.

About the satchel now, nothing new... In case you hadn't noticed, this satchel quest has been created for one single reason, to promote the adventure stone. I was amazed to see how few people bothered getting one, even before the glitch that made the stone impossible to get after level 15...

True, it takes forever to empower the adventure stone stats, it took me 2 years to get some stats... But the fact remains, the main function the adventure stone is to allow the magus transportation between LDON camps and to taelosian zones. Magus port is convenient for everybody, including druids and wizard... To upgrade the Abu-Kar satchel you must travel to each LDON camp in the following order: Everfrost, Commonlands, North Ro, Butcherblock Mountain, South Ro. If you have the adventure stone you'll make it in 5 minutes, but without it you'll have to run to each camp... even with SOW it will take over 20 minutes, and I'm sure you have more interesting things to do during your game time.

One more thing: there is other charm augs in the game now, some of them are probably much easier to mmpower than the adventure stone. But no need to worry, you don't need to wear the adventure stone to use the magus, if you have it in your inventory it will work too. So when you reach level 15 you know what you have to do.
LDON code still works if you bought EQ Platinum

For anyone like me who bought EQ Platinum (7 expansions in one, including LDON) you can buy the boxed version of LDON and it WILL give you the bag. I just picked up a cheap copy of LDON on ebay, entered my code and voila, I am now the proud owner of the satchel of abu-kar. :)
75% weight reduction???
# Jun 16 2005 at 1:18 PM Rating: Decent
I have asked on The Rathe Server and have heard of a 75% weight reduction version of the Satchel of Abu-Kar. Can anyone confirm if this is bogus or an actual unlisted quest?

Thanks

While looking through Magelos of various Rangers once to figure out some things to get for my Ranger I saw one who had the upgraded one from this. Never have found any quest for it though. When LDoN first came out the description of the bag said something like upgradeable to 100% WR and as I recall the one in the Magelo was 100% although it's been some time so maybe it was 75%. I don't remember the name seems like it was something like metal studded or something like that. This has always been a mystery to me since I have never seen anything else about it being upgradeable, just the promise in the sales pitch and that Magelo.
WTF?

Obtaining Abu-Kar

First, you have to have purchased the LDoN expansion boxed set, not the DL version, otherwise your sh*t outta luck. To get your bag once you loaded LDoN, type /claim with whatever char you want to get the bag, and make sure to have a main inventory slot open. If you do it on a different char than the one you want it on, its stuck there, so make sure you are on the right toon when you claim it. It is NODROP. Then you can upgrade by talking to the Iksar in the EF Wayfarers camp, he has you port around a bit to the other camps, get 3 different items and finally hand them in with bag for an upgrade. Hope this helps and sorry for all you that downloaded that would have bought the boxed set if only you had known.
how do you get the bag?

Is there any way of making the 50% to 100% yet? Will they if they haven't already make a quest to make it 100% weight reduction?
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 24 2004 at 6:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This bag sucks balls. Leatherfoot haversack is 50% more WR and only costs a few grand. Rallic pack is 35% more WR and easy as hell to get solo. Come on guys...if you wanna whine about something. whine that you didnt get the phat keychain I got when I bought PoP lol. I use part of it to stir my bowl when I smoke pot.

Yea beats the crap they gave with the Gates expansion. Most companies normally reward there customers that took the effort to pre-order there game though. Apparently SOE has it backwards. I never got this item, so I learned my lesson and don't ever plan to pre-order anything else. Then again after seeing Gates is nothing more then a playground for 65's in time guilds I probably won't ever buy anymore expansions anyways. Thats $30 I wish I had back.
RE: bb

Why would you reward the people that pre-ordered the download? What kinda cost is there involved in putting out a download? When people stop buying the single expansion you are not left with anything you paid for, unlike boxes of expansions. And actually they DID reward those who pre-ordered. It was called discount pricing. The box release came out at around $5 more than the download. You saved money by being able to have it ready as soon as the patch was done. There is your reward.

Having worked in the folding carton industry for nearly 12 years I can tell you that the cost of the box alone increases the price (something others complained about - paying more for box version). That box alone is going to easily run in the $3 range. Add into that the nice little trinket keychain, the CD and when nobody is buying the single release of LDoN because for $30 you can buy the Everquest Platinum Edition that includes all of thier expansions through GoD, those single expansion boxes of LDoN that never got sold still have a cost to SoE. They still paid to have a product manufactured that isnt selling anymore. When that time comes, what kind of cost hit is there for the people who didnt download it? Zilch short of server space and it is gonna be on there anyways.

As for Gates being nothing more than a playground for 65's equipped in Time gear, maybe you should go there before you start spouting off. As a shaman and warrior combo, the wife and I have been going there since we were 54. Neither of us are guilded nor do we have phenomenal gear. Heck, at 58 I can solo the base level mobs in Natimbi as a WARRIOR. With a group we will start doing Qinimi. Sure, a lot of it is designed for the people who are high end. They grease the squeeky wheel (ie those who complain about being at the end game and having no new content). You dont think you can handle it in GoD? Go elsewhere. I am willing to bet at least half the zones in the game that you are able to go to you have never even set foot in.

You can get one bag per account per copy of the expansion that you buy. So you could get this 8 times if you bought the expansion 8 times. Since you can buy this expansion for just a couple dollars (assuming you can find it), it would cost probably around $35 to get this bag on all your chars.

Or, if you have extra money you could spend (number of chars) x $20 on Everquest Titanium and have all of the expansion rewards on all of your chars. Might be a waste of money, but some people have lots of chars. And mounts are included in the rewards (the mechanical boar), so maybe it's worth it.

This is a pretty easy, fast quest, doable at any level. Yielding a 10 slot giant 50% WR bag is a pretty incredible reward considering the 0 risk and short time for completion. I'd say the item was worth the few more bucks I spent at GameStop... of course, I was going to buy it retail anyway, but hey.

When most high WR bags are lore items, another one this easy to get is great. Sorry to all of you who missed out.

Just did this quest as figured I might as well... Now have a slightly bigger bag for my instruments, gate potion and invis cloak ;P

Major bonus was that as I'd finished and was looking around camp for magus i noticed the ancient cyclops on track!! Woohoo a min or so later and ring of the ancients is sat in my new satchel!!!

Thanks for the quest info, I'd never have stumbled across him otherwise!

#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 23 2003 at 8:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have read alot of these posts and i really cant beleive that anyone has made the argument of needing to go to the store to buy the boxed version. Everquest is an online game, you pay to play it with a credit card, how hard is it to order via credit card and get a box sent right to your door, or your work for that matter. Also i really dont see any reason to preorder something that you are just going to download, you wont miss out, it isnt limited to the first 50 people or anything. I didnt order my version untill the day after it was released, they normally take it down over the first few days because of glictches in things going live anyway, and i ordered the box to be sent to me online. I waited a few extra days. I was pissed about one thing only. The key ring only come through sony and by the time i ordered i couldnt get it from sony, and some of the sites dont deliver to my country so i miss out on that. But honestly if you preordered you did it because you wanted to be first in the race to get something, what ever security preordering gave you, you got it, thats the trade off you made.

Upgraded further?

Can the reinforced version be upgraded further?
When I tried going back to Kizpi he says he is busy experimenting with the strange stones they find and when you get the reinforced version from Dahdd Jonne he mentions that Kizpi forgot to include a few ingredients to make it which leads me to believe there are more ingredients to upgrade the satchel even further. Anyone know?

the Box of Abu-Kar is an old-world extremely rare drop from random mobs. It has not dropped since sometime in 2000.

Everyone who didn't get the bag, enough crying about it. Sony said many times:

A) You can cancel pre-order
B) You get the reward (they did say what it was too that's how I Knew to buy) when buying it from a store or ebgames.com

To those of you who can read and did the same as me. Don't you get tired of hearing the crying about the camn bag?

Let the flamming begin....

First you did not back Sony when you preorder....obviously you missed the part that says you will not be charged till its released. So how did you back them? Oh you secured a Purchase? Guess what they know we are addicted. They know we are going to buy the expansion, guess what you did nothing other than short change yourself. What use is it for them to Dump a could of Hundreds of thousand Dollars maybe even more to design, package and distribute the box? Downloading means they loose money on the whole packaging part of it. Ok you can buy a Rallic pack and Sewn EE bag....um thats 2 bags....what are you going to do for the other 6 slots?.....I prefer to have a 50% bag and save the 5k to twink an alt or co-main. I have 3 accounts and guess what spending 40k per character for Tinker and Haversacks is not my idea of fun. Imagine that is 120k for my 3 co-mains lets talk alts now...umm 2 alts per acc lets do the math 9 toons @ 40k each = 360k. That is 360k i can use to get some nice gear for alts or a upgrade or 2 for my co-mains. Just my Opinion. So dont hate us because we learned to read, I am sure there is a public education program near you.
