    Short version

Once you reach level 15, you will receive a "mysterious message:"

A mysterious voice whispers to you, 'If you can feel me in your thoughts, know this -- something is changing in the world and I reckon you should be a part of it. I do not know much, but I do know that in every home city and the wilds there are agents of an organization called the Wayfarers Brotherhood. They are looking for recruits . . . If you can hear this message, you are one of the chosen. Rush to your home city, or search the West Karanas and Rathe Mountains for a contact if you have been exiled from your home for your deeds, and find out more. Adventure awaits you, my friend.'

If you are not sure what town you started in, you can also go to the Rathe Mountains gypsy camp or the SE corner of Western Karana. Once you arrive there, you will receive another "mysterious message" telling you to find a specific NPC. You need to find the person mentioned and hail him. He will tell you about the wayfarer camps and mention 5 more NPC's - one per camp. Head to a camp and talk to the NPC there and he will ask you some questions. Answer them and you will get flagged to use the adventure system and the Magus teleports that take you from camp to camp.

    Answers:

    Question 1: adventures
    2: favor journal
    3: Morden Rasp
    4: farstone

    Detailed Version

This is the introduction you'll see in Greater Faydark. Others will be very similar.

A mysterious voice whispers to you, 'If you can feel me in your thoughts, know this -- something is changing in the world and I reckon you should be a part of it. I do not know much, but I do know that in every home city and the wilds there are agents of an organization called the Wayfarers Brotherhood. They are looking for recruits and . . . If you can hear this message, you are one of the chosen. Rush to your home city, or search the West Karanas and Rathe Mountains for a contact if you have been exiled from your home for your deeds, and find out more. Adventure awaits you, my friend.'

You have entered The Greater Faydark.

A mysterious voice whispers to you, 'Enyaanuia Windancer in the tavern by Trueshots Bows has just joined the Wayfarers Brotherhood and has some information about them, and how you can start doing odd jobs for them. You looked like the heroic sort, so I wanted to contact you . . . discreetly.'

    You say, 'Hail, Enyaanuia Windancer'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'Come to find out about the Wayfarers Brotherhood, hm? I think I saw you around here long ago. Because you are familiar to me, I will trust you with some [information].'

You say, 'I want some information.'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'The Wayfarers Brotherhood is pretty particular about who they do business with. You will need to prove yourself to them. You can start gaining their gratitude by helping them. The Wayfarers Brotherhood will ask you to answer some questions when you first meet with them. They tend to call all of their assignments 'adventures.' You'd do well to keep that in mind as they'll be more likely to give you some tasks. There is other information that makes them easier to [deal with] too.'

    You say, 'Deal with?'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'There are several camps of Wayfarers Brotherhood explorers around the world. In each camp you'll find a trusted Wayfarers Brotherhood member that has the task of recruiting adventurers that will take on interesting, and potentially lethal, [work]. Some members will tell you stories, if they think you are worthy of learning such prized information. Others will share their treasures with you, but only if you do work for them.'

    You say, 'Work?'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'The Wayfarers Brotherhood believes in giving something for something. For each adventure you take from them, they will add you to their Favor Journal. With the points of Favor that their record keepers have counted for you, you can trade your good Favor for wonderful treasures and goods. Also, the more adventures you do for the Wayfarers Brotherhood, the more your Favor increases. The harder jobs get you more Favor, by the way. As you gain more Favor, the Wayfarers Brotherhood treasure keepers will let you peek at some of their more unique and sought after items. So, it pays to get in good with them, you see! And there's [more]!'

    You say, 'There's more?'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'You should also know that there are five magi in the Wayfarers Brotherhood that have found very unique magic stones in the world that they are able to use to transport adventurers to one another. They have placed a magus with one of these stones at each large camp. They call it Farstone Magic. And that's not the only [interesting ore] we've seen lately.'

You say, 'Interesting ore -- you are messing with me, elf woman!'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'We've found some strange items off the dead in the dungeons. At first we just thought they were simple things -- rocks, pebbles, gems, and the like -- and then we noticed they had very unusual auras about them. Well, one day, Morden Rasp was toying with one -- a shiny green shard -- and he went to scrape it with his dagger. Suddenly, the shard began to reform and fused with his dagger. While the dagger remained as fine as ever, Morden himself felt a surge of strength! So, you will want to watch out for these strange magic pieces in the world. Now, I suggest you go talk to Selephra Giztral, Barstre Songweaver, Vual Stoutest, Teria Grinntli, or Ruanya Windleaf. They handle all of those who are interested in working for the Wayfarers Brotherhood and getting rewards. Remember well what I've told you!'

You have completed a step toward becoming a great adventurer. Well done!

    In the Everfrost Peaks:

    You say, 'Hail, Teria Grinntli'

Teria Grinntli says 'Welcome stranger. I'm afraid you must answer some questions before I can consider opening our wealth of skill and knowledge to you. First, what does the Wayfarers Brotherhood call the tasks they will ask you to do for them?'

    You say, 'Give me adventures!'

You have completed a step toward becoming a great adventurer. Well done!

Teria Grinntli says 'We will reward based on your improving position with the Wayfarers Brotherhood. We keep a certain type of log that records how often and well you help us. What is it called?'

You say, 'It's a favor journal.'

You have completed a step toward becoming a great adventurer. Well done!

Teria Grinntli says 'Who discovered that some treasures have strange magical properties by poking one with his dagger?'

    You say, 'Morden Rasp'

You have completed a step toward becoming a great adventurer. Well done!

Teria Grinntli says 'Our brilliant magi use a special kind of magic to help teleport us between camps. What is it called?'

    You say, 'A farstone'

Teria Grinntli says 'Congratulations! I believe now that you are trustworthy enough to take on some of the adventures the Wayfarers Brotherhood have to give. We will be able to continue with our discussions once you complete some adventures. We can also help you with travel between our camps. Be well, fair Guiscard. I'm sure, someday, you will be a great addition to the Wayfarers Brotherhood.'

You have completed a step toward becoming a great adventurer. Well done!
Your faction standing with Wayfarers Brotherhood has been adjusted by 100.

Teria Grinntli says 'Take this Adventurer Stone with you on your journeys into the dungeons. You will find it useful. Should you lose it somehow, come talk to me and I'll replace it.'

    Rewards:
    - Faction with Wayfarers Brotherhood
    - Adventurer's Stone (needed to use the Magus portals)

These same steps will work on any of the following NPCs: Selephra Giztral, Barstre Songweaver, Vual Stoutest, Teria Grinntli, and Ruanya Windleaf.

Upon the hail that maxes out the stats of your Adventurer's Stone, you will see in red:

It's time to acknowledge you as a Wayfarer. Give Chaenz Abella in the Commonlands your Adventurer Stone and he'll replace it with your very own Wayfarers Emblem. Or, if it's being used in a charm, you must remove it to get your new one. And, if you simply destroy the stone, he will replace it with your much-deserved emblem. Just tell him you want your [emblem].

Head to Chaenz Abella in the Wayfarer's camp in the Commonlands.

Chaenz Abella says 'I heard you had become knowledgeable about all aspects of the dungeons we've found. I must confess that I never had you pegged for such a great adventurer! I suppose I should welcome you -- as a member of the Wayfarers Brotherhood. The honor is well deserved. Congratulations!'

Chaenz Abella says 'Here is a token of my appreciation. Should you lose your Wayfarers Brotherhood Emblem or misplace it, I or Barstre, Selephra, Ruanya, Teria, or Vual will replace it.'

    Receive Wayfarers Brotherhood Emblem.

Go hail one of the following Wayfarers: Barstre Songweaver, Chaenz Abella, Ruanya Windleaf, Selephra Giztral, Teria Grinntli, Vual Stoutest. You may have to say something like "I lost my Adventurer's Stone."

I know that this was a long time ago, but I wanted to say that I've been going through this with all my low level alts (many many accounts). The easiest way to tell if you have the right zone is that you'll get emote text when you enter the right zone with the NPC name that you need to contact. All other zones with just give you the emote text that says seek out a brotherhood member in your home city.

When you make a character now days they give you the option of selecting your hometown, or selecting Crescent Reach as your hometown. If you dont look into the settings carefully while creating your character, Crescent Reach will be your hometown through default. If your hometown is set as Crescent Reach, and you are not a Drakkin, your Adventurer's Stone will most likely be hard to obtain as the npc you need to speak with in your hometown and the npc in Crescant Reach will not help you. These are the alternate npc's you can talk to in this case:

West Karana: Melaara Tenwinds -3350 -14835 (south east corner near the wizard port) - This npc is alone so all races should be ok here -

Rathe Mountains: Nemeen Pekasr +3985 +1360 (gypsy camp near Lake Rathetear zoneline) - This npc is near other npc's which may be agro to some races ie: my Iksar was threatening to the npc Cynthia who was also there -

    I hope this helps

They fixed it so that the npc in Crescent Reach will help you with the Adventurer's Stone quest. If you still have trouble my post above may help.

Hopefully this information will help decrease petitions.

If Crescent Reach is your hometown, the name of the NPC you need to seek out to begin the Adventurer's Stone quest is named Vladnelg Galvern and is located on the second floor of the main building in CR. He is sitting right next to Disgruntled Bowab.

Do not try to go to the alternate NPC's in West Karana or Rathe Mtns., as they will not help you.

I have the Adventurers Stone on all my toons and can use the Magus's. However, on 3 toons I still get the "A mysteroius voice whispers" message quite often when I enter a new zone. It's only mildly annoying, but is there a way, a step to take, to get this message to go away??

This happens to me as well on all SIX of my toons. They are all level 75 and did this quest months/years ago, yet it...still...happens to me every single time I zone into PoK and its making me crazy.

    What is the solution?

    i would either:

    1) try talking to the adv stone NPC in crescent reach about adventure stone to see if you can go through the text there and go through it all so it dosent repeat. Maybe try destroying your current adv stone and running through the text with an NPC again to see if that stops it (you get a new one)

    2) try using /setstart
and see if it allows you to reset your home city

    3) use /petiton
and explain the problem, and request if you can use the /setstart command or some other way to fix it.

I'm trying to get this for my alt SK who's level 15. Ive gone to all of the neriak zones at the npc's listed and they all say blah blah closer to home. So i ran to rathe mtn's gypsy camp and got the yellow text. I hailed the npc and he also said to find someone closer to home. So...i'm not sure what to do now.

I just got the stone on 2 characters (just so I could use the magus) and all I did was run to butcherblock and hailed the gnome/dwarf in the camp and /say the four answers. I did not have to go to my home town to start the quest, just feed the dude in butcher the four answers.

    Hope that helps

I am an Iksar and my hometown is Crescent Reach. I tried /setstartcity, but I get a message that says that I cant set a start city because I have already done so. I DID NOT SET MY START CITY AS CRESCENT REACH! I am an Iksar and I like Cabilis. The npcs for the Wayfarer Camp in Cabilis and Crescent Reach will not help me, and the npcs that people have listed who are supposed to help me since I cant use my home city wont help me either. I need to get to Abysmal Sea! I have never had any trouble before this is rediculous.

When a post-TSS character is made, the default city is Cresant Reach. When you're doing your starting stats and appearances for your toon, you have an option to select a starting city. I did that on my dark elf necro, choosing Neriak as my starting city. But when I zoned out of the noob zone, it sent me directly to Cresant Reach. My guess is that Sony wants players to start in this area because of all of the lower level gear quests availible, and there are many. You could essentially fully gear your new character easily on these quests. I did my pre-stone hail in CR, and then did my final hail in the Commonlands and recieved it just fine, even tho my starting city was set as Neriak.

Crescent Reach as starting city for non-Drakkins is a known bug.

You have to /petition and/or /bugreport, and a GM will settle the problem (/setstartcity will be made available for you).

They're listed as Related Creatures above. If they start the quest (i.e., they can serve as hometown NPCs), I'll move them.
    Closer to home message
    # Feb 04 2007 at 10:46 AM Rating: Decent
Ok so here's the deal with the adventure stone. If you get the "try some place closer to home" message, you are talking to the wrong person. Some start cities have two zones that make them up. Example: Felwithe has north and south Felwithe. My sons high elf wizards home town is Felwithe. He tried to talk to the North Felwithe guy but got the try someone closer to home message. Reason was, he needed to talk to an NPC in South Felwithe, not North Felwithe. Once he talked to the NPC in South Felwithe he was gtg. So if you get this message and your hometown has multiple sections to it, try going to the other section of town and talking to the NPC there.

I can confirm this. Worked for me! Had to take this toon into Southern Felwithe as the other NPC in Northern Felwithe told me to "try some place closer to home".

my adv stone finally got to 100% today, and the thing i find funny is that i am not even maxed out at everfrost or east commonlands yet. I find it funny because after reaching 100% the only reason to do more adventures is to change the name of the aug mostly, since it already has max stats. of course i will be doing that though because I have wanted to for a long time. too many posts to reply, so i might as well create a new post, not sure if anyone said anything yet, but the tip they said is pretty obvious, go find someone closer to ur home city, i made a new ogre, i went to oggok n got this dialog. so, the next obvious thing to do is go to creasent reach, since i was stupid enough to set that as my home city when i created the toon. so best thing to do b4 u whine to GM or on allak seeking answers, do some thinkings with ur brain first. GM obviously wouldnt tell u the straight answer, its a freaken game, use some logic n they want u to find where the quest is n all that. n ofcourse, someone who didnt choose creasent reach as their homecity at start or they have created the toon b4 tss release, they could still do their quest talk from their original home city.

    Adventure Stone NPC found
    # Dec 30 2006 at 7:10 AM Rating: Decent
Just thought I'd add my 2 cents as I got my stone last night for my 15 Halfling Ranger. My biggest problem was there wasn't much detail showing on my map but I found Barstre Songweaver in the Commonlands tunnel that leads to South Ro. Someone in my guild told me to go south & I'd find the tunnel & to turn left once inside a short distance. I found the NPC in no time so overall my experience wasn't bad. Sounds like a lot of you have run into some problems though so hope the situation gets better for folks. Many of you are probably already aware of the location but just thought I'd relay my experience. Maybe they've fixed any glitches by now.
    Still bugged

I believe this is still bugged, especially for halfling druids. I tried Rivervale and Surefall Glade. The ranger dude in SG told me to go closer to home. I've tried every NPC in both zones :(
My stone is missing.. nowhere on me, or in my bank. I am still able to use the magus' for some reason.. which is great.
Some stuff about who to talk to.

I talked to a GM about it, and they recommended starting a new character with same class / race level them to 14 then go to your home city and read the message of who to talk to.

They also said that the new NPCs are close to Origin / Return Home spots for the characters, so you could also try waiting 6hrs and then using the Return Home button on the character screen to check NPCs around that spot.

For a Wood Elf Ranger that was created a long time ago but wasn't played for years, Freeport worked, despite Kelethin being the home town.

A new Ogre Shaman with starting city of Crescent Reach, had to go to Crescent Reach.

    Hope this helps some out.

My halfling druid finally found npc that would talk to her, the one in the ranger guild in surefall glade, guess sony figures she is a half elf not a halfling. Side note, when hitting go home it still sends her to Cresent lol. So just keep looking, someone somewhere will talk to you.

    Wayfarer contact in Kaladim
    # Dec 03 2006 at 4:46 PM Rating: Decent
I just found the 'new' Wayfarer's guy in Kaladim for anyone interested. His name is Halthar Mowestone. If you go to the bank in Kaladim, when you come out of the bank, go to the left instead of straight ahead to zone. You'll see him standing up there, just hail him and he will go through the Wayfarer's dialog.

/rant on: Why did they jerk around with this quest in the first place?? What is even worse is that it sounds like this was poorly communicated internally at Sony given that the GM's didn't seem to have a clue what to do about it.

In response to the text with Teria Grinntli the faction you get once you receive the adventurers stone for the first time is with the Wayfarers Brotherhood which got better.
