    Short version

Once you reach level 15, you will receive a "mysterious message:"

A mysterious voice whispers to you, 'If you can feel me in your thoughts, know this -- something is changing in the world and I reckon you should be a part of it. I do not know much, but I do know that in every home city and the wilds there are agents of an organization called the Wayfarers Brotherhood. They are looking for recruits . . . If you can hear this message, you are one of the chosen. Rush to your home city, or search the West Karanas and Rathe Mountains for a contact if you have been exiled from your home for your deeds, and find out more. Adventure awaits you, my friend.'

If you are not sure what town you started in, you can also go to the Rathe Mountains gypsy camp or the SE corner of Western Karana. Once you arrive there, you will receive another "mysterious message" telling you to find a specific NPC. You need to find the person mentioned and hail him. He will tell you about the wayfarer camps and mention 5 more NPC's - one per camp. Head to a camp and talk to the NPC there and he will ask you some questions. Answer them and you will get flagged to use the adventure system and the Magus teleports that take you from camp to camp.

    Detailed Version

This is the introduction you'll see in Greater Faydark. Others will be very similar.

A mysterious voice whispers to you, 'If you can feel me in your thoughts, know this -- something is changing in the world and I reckon you should be a part of it. I do not know much, but I do know that in every home city and the wilds there are agents of an organization called the Wayfarers Brotherhood. They are looking for recruits and . . . If you can hear this message, you are one of the chosen. Rush to your home city, or search the West Karanas and Rathe Mountains for a contact if you have been exiled from your home for your deeds, and find out more. Adventure awaits you, my friend.'

You have entered The Greater Faydark.

A mysterious voice whispers to you, 'Enyaanuia Windancer in the tavern by Trueshots Bows has just joined the Wayfarers Brotherhood and has some information about them, and how you can start doing odd jobs for them. You looked like the heroic sort, so I wanted to contact you . . . discreetly.'

    You say, 'Hail, Enyaanuia Windancer'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'Come to find out about the Wayfarers Brotherhood, hm? I think I saw you around here long ago. Because you are familiar to me, I will trust you with some [information].'

You say, 'I want some information.'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'The Wayfarers Brotherhood is pretty particular about who they do business with. You will need to prove yourself to them. You can start gaining their gratitude by helping them. The Wayfarers Brotherhood will ask you to answer some questions when you first meet with them. They tend to call all of their assignments 'adventures.' You'd do well to keep that in mind as they'll be more likely to give you some tasks. There is other information that makes them easier to [deal with] too.'

    You say, 'Deal with?'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'There are several camps of Wayfarers Brotherhood explorers around the world. In each camp you'll find a trusted Wayfarers Brotherhood member that has the task of recruiting adventurers that will take on interesting, and potentially lethal, [work]. Some members will tell you stories, if they think you are worthy of learning such prized information. Others will share their treasures with you, but only if you do work for them.'

    You say, 'Work?'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'The Wayfarers Brotherhood believes in giving something for something. For each adventure you take from them, they will add you to their Favor Journal. With the points of Favor that their record keepers have counted for you, you can trade your good Favor for wonderful treasures and goods. Also, the more adventures you do for the Wayfarers Brotherhood, the more your Favor increases. The harder jobs get you more Favor, by the way. As you gain more Favor, the Wayfarers Brotherhood treasure keepers will let you peek at some of their more unique and sought after items. So, it pays to get in good with them, you see! And there's [more]!'

    You say, 'There's more?'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'You should also know that there are five magi in the Wayfarers Brotherhood that have found very unique magic stones in the world that they are able to use to transport adventurers to one another. They have placed a magus with one of these stones at each large camp. They call it Farstone Magic. And that's not the only [interesting ore] we've seen lately.'

You say, 'Interesting ore -- you are messing with me, elf woman!'

Enyaanuia Windancer says 'We've found some strange items off the dead in the dungeons. At first we just thought they were simple things -- rocks, pebbles, gems, and the like -- and then we noticed they had very unusual auras about them. Well, one day, Morden Rasp was toying with one -- a shiny green shard -- and he went to scrape it with his dagger. Suddenly, the shard began to reform and fused with his dagger. While the dagger remained as fine as ever, Morden himself felt a surge of strength! So, you will want to watch out for these strange magic pieces in the world. Now, I suggest you go talk to Selephra Giztral, Barstre Songweaver, Vual Stoutest, Teria Grinntli, or Ruanya Windleaf. They handle all of those who are interested in working for the Wayfarers Brotherhood and getting rewards. Remember well what I've told you!'

You have completed a step toward becoming a great adventurer. Well done!

    In the Everfrost Peaks:

    You say, 'Hail, Teria Grinntli'

Teria Grinntli says 'Welcome stranger. I'm afraid you must answer some questions before I can consider opening our wealth of skill and knowledge to you. First, what does the Wayfarers Brotherhood call the tasks they will ask you to do for them?'

    You say, 'Give me adventures!'

You have completed a step toward becoming a great adventurer. Well done!

Teria Grinntli says 'We will reward based on your improving position with the Wayfarers Brotherhood. We keep a certain type of log that records how often and well you help us. What is it called?'

You say, 'It's a favor journal.'

You have completed a step toward becoming a great adventurer. Well done!

Teria Grinntli says 'Who discovered that some treasures have strange magical properties by poking one with his dagger?'

    You say, 'Morden Rasp'

You have completed a step toward becoming a great adventurer. Well done!

Teria Grinntli says 'Our brilliant magi use a special kind of magic to help teleport us between camps. What is it called?'

    You say, 'A farstone'

Teria Grinntli says 'Congratulations! I believe now that you are trustworthy enough to take on some of the adventures the Wayfarers Brotherhood have to give. We will be able to continue with our discussions once you complete some adventures. We can also help you with travel between our camps. Be well, fair Guiscard. I'm sure, someday, you will be a great addition to the Wayfarers Brotherhood.'

You have completed a step toward becoming a great adventurer. Well done!
Your faction standing with Wayfarers Brotherhood has been adjusted by 100.

Teria Grinntli says 'Take this Adventurer Stone with you on your journeys into the dungeons. You will find it useful. Should you lose it somehow, come talk to me and I'll replace it.'

    Rewards:
    - Faction with Wayfarers Brotherhood
    - Adventurer's Stone (needed to use the Magus portals)

These same steps will work on any of the following NPCs: Selephra Giztral, Barstre Songweaver, Vual Stoutest, Teria Grinntli, and Ruanya Windleaf.

Upon the hail that maxes out the stats of your Adventurer's Stone, you will see in red:

It's time to acknowledge you as a Wayfarer. Give Chaenz Abella in the Commonlands your Adventurer Stone and he'll replace it with your very own Wayfarers Emblem. Or, if it's being used in a charm, you must remove it to get your new one. And, if you simply destroy the stone, he will replace it with your much-deserved emblem. Just tell him you want your [emblem].

Head to Chaenz Abella in the Wayfarer's camp in the Commonlands.

Chaenz Abella says 'I heard you had become knowledgeable about all aspects of the dungeons we've found. I must confess that I never had you pegged for such a great adventurer! I suppose I should welcome you -- as a member of the Wayfarers Brotherhood. The honor is well deserved. Congratulations!'

Chaenz Abella says 'Here is a token of my appreciation. Should you lose your Wayfarers Brotherhood Emblem or misplace it, I or Barstre, Selephra, Ruanya, Teria, or Vual will replace it.'

    Receive Wayfarers Brotherhood Emblem.

There is an npc in Neriak 3rd Gate - Torxal Smalane. He's near the Furrier Royale.

Another npc in Neriak Commons. Kwilrz Vn'Ycxa in the Refined Palate. (77,863,52)

I didn't get the whispers telling me which npc to visit and in fact knew nothing of their being more than one npc in Neriak. I petitioned several times, had my start city reset, etc. Finally on the forums someone mentioned the other npc.

After MANY days and just as many /petitions, I finally found the Wayfarers Brotherhood NPC in Neriak (BTW, SOE was NO HELP!!). I NEVER got the emote that told me whom to speak with for the quest. Although 3 different GMs told me they "fixed" my toon and I would get the emote. I spent days getting the "...Seek out someone closer to home." BS from every LDoN NPC in Norrath.

I'm Going to save my fellow Dark Elves a LOT of trouble...

Go to Neriak Commons and Press CTRL+F then click on Dunred M'Trik. Follow the yellow line and you will find Kwilrz Vn`Ycxa right Next to Dunred M'Trik.

I hope this helps someone and saves them the BS I went through...

Yes! Kwilrz Vn'Ycxa IS at this location. Thank you for the helpful post. He is not anywhere near the Cuisine Excelsior anymore. He is at The Refined Palate in The Neriak Underground area. Just down the hall from the bank. I have been trying to do this quest for months. Hopefully this will help save some more little dark elves from the torment of trying to find him =)

I had been unable to get advewnture stone for my warrior and cleric on the test server , so on patch day I stopped in and hailed Kwil. He gave the corrsct responses and now am on the way to EC and will finally be able to use wayfarer camps to move about. Btw ... there was NO yellow message when I zoned into Neriak commons ..no whisper to join brotherhood.. must be DE secret thing going on.

I'm a L45 Dark Elf Necromancer of Innoruuk having trouble getting the Adventurer's Stone. I do recieve the mysterious voice message when I zone into East Commons. When I hail Torxal Smalane in Neriak 3rd Gate I get 'closer to home' message. I found a L18 DE Necromancer and asked her about the mysterious voice and she had gotten the message. She happened to be in the Neriak 3rd Gate zone. Her Neriak 3rd Gate message said to go talk to Torxal Smalane near the Furrier Royale. She did and successfully went through the text:

what information, deal with, what work, more, interesting ore...

and got the go see 1 of the 5 wayferers message.

So, i can somewhat confirm that Torxal Smalane is the correct NPC for DE necromancer but is somehow level restricted or there is a problem with my character, i.e. I have no Hometown, because it worked for L18 character but not my L45. I conned INDIFFERENT to him also.

Other than being able to port around via magus, I don't see much other reason for stone. Most expansions still have value in them, but IMO LDoN dosen't have anything to offer anymore. Some of the spells are OK to get but not really gotta haves, gear is not really much compared to what can be gotten much easier. Some of the foraged stuff I wouldn't mind getting but you hardly ever see anyone doin LDoN adventures and then within lvl range is nearly impossible. If anyine can see any benifit to LDoN anymore lemme know.

I have a level 26 Wood Elf Druid. I have been trying to find the right NPC in
Greater Faydark to hail to learn about the Wayfarer Brotherhood so that
I can then go to Butcherblock and get my stone from Vaul. Neither Enyaanuia Windancer in GF nor Thwinose Vilgarn in South Felwithe will help me. I get the same "seek out someone closer to home" brushoff that other people who have posted messages in this forum do. Does anyone know who is the proper NPC to hail for someone like me whose home city is Greater Faydark?

    Try the npc in Surefall
sounds odd, but ya. Rangers and druids with problems in kelethin have been able to get it there.
Some have other classes reported that they get it in freeport when their hometown npc's arent working.

I was able to get my Adventurer's Stone tonight by first going to West Freeport. Although I was sure that Greater Faydark was my home city, one of my guild members told me that about a year ago Sony changed the home city for some of their classes. I did not know this. Sure enough, I got the system message in West Freeport. It told me to seek out Genniau Noghce in Tassel's Tavern. The NPC was indeed helpful to me when I hailed her and went through the text above. I then went to Butcherblock Mountains, and Vaul Stoutest gave me my stone after answering his questions correctly. Anyone who is having difficulty finding the right NPC in Greater Faydark or Felwithe should try going to West Freeport, which can be reached by clicking on the Freeport portal in Plane of Knowledge. Your home city may have changed without you knowing about it just like mine did. The bottom line is that if you do not get the system message upon zoning into a particular city, then that is NOT your home city! (I never got the system message in Greater Faydark.)

It seems that the adventure stone quest is broken for my halfling druid also,

The quest NPC listed tells me to go closer to home, It's not a problem of being in the wrong zone because Rivervale is only one zone; I've also hailed every npc in zone minus nillipus and a couple guards
The Npcs in rathe mountain tell me to go closer to home also
I just want to use the magus to get to and from POK and Abysmal Sea . . bah

Also, you do not have to keep the stone in inventory to use maguses. You can leave it in the bank and still get the ports.

Although the message for DE with Third Gate home towns says to find Torxial Smalane near the Furrier Roayle, I was not able to locate him. I did however find Kwilrz Vn`Ycxa at the posted location. He responded to all my hail, I replied to the prompts and I got my stone. Hope this helps.

I spoke with Torxial Smalane yesterday, it seems to fixed because he went thru all the prompts for me. He is located just outside of the Furrier Roayle.

Update ... I just petitioned for the second time, and 8 minutes after I get a response added to my petition. The GM didn't send me a tell, nothing like that.

The GM's response was a copy-and-paste BS line about how their developers are working "diligently" to fix the problem. I can tell that it was a BS copy-and-paste job, because I had the exact same response to my last petition. Also, they apologized for the delay in response, which is stupid because 8 minutes isn't a delay, IT'S NOT EVEN ENOUGH TIME TO LOOK INTO THE QUESTIONS I ASKED IN THE PETITION.

The questions I asked, of course, weren't answered. He probably didn't have a canned answer generator addressing my specific questions. Then I am also told to check with eqplayers.com and the Sony forums for "the latest updates." Well, that's kind of impossible since there has been NO updates on this. The only time they acknowledge the fact that it is an issue is when you petition, and that's a robot-generated response.

This has been a known issue for several months now, and they haven't done anything.

No, it's not fixed. I tried these two NPCs, and they both tell me I have to go closer to home. IT'S MY FREAKING HOME!!

This is so annoying, because as it turns out, without the stone you can't do adventures -- just tried that the other night, too, so not LDoNs for me.

What's even more annoying and disturbing is the fact that GMs and Devs alike seem to have no regard for the players when it comes to this. They don't respond to anything on the Sony forums, and if you petition about it, all they say is "they're working on it." So, hurrah, I've paid for an expansion I can't use. Excellent.

Lastly, I also tried hailing every single NPC in Neriak Commons (I'm a DE Enchanter), and not one of them responds like the Adventurer's Stone NPCs should. Yes, even guards and merchants. Nothing.

    Hatred. So much hatred.

Just dinged 15 on my DE alt, went to 3rd Gate found Kwilrz Vn'Yexa at the Cuisine Excelsior and hailed him. We went through all the prompts and responses without a problem.

I am a Human Necromancer, home in Qeynos Aqueducts. The whisper told me to find Dollin Nusmag, friend of Vach Piral. I have no clue where to find him. I believe I got the whisper when I entered South Qeynos, but haven't found him yet.

I can't believe I spent so much time searching the streets and houses in Qeynos. I just didn't go into the Cleric area in the aqueducts. I did find both of the NPCs for North and South Qeynos tho.

Dollin Nusmag is found in the Qeynos Aqueducts. If you do a find for Vach Piral (tributemaster) you will find Dollin. /loc is -593.14, -36.22
