Master Scribe Uklo is found at -1940, +450.

You say, 'Hail, Master Scribe Uklo'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'Well met! Welcome to Gukta, the Outpost of Marr -- our new home and base of operations for our fight to remove the trolls from the rest of our beautiful swamp. The liberation of Gukta was quite a battle! Many brave Froglok warriors, a good dose of [powerful magic] and the blessings of Mithaniel Marr allowed us to cleanse this place of the vile Trolls.'

    You say, 'What powerful magic?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'Our battle wizards called many comets of ice from the sky, along with bolts of pure magical force, brutal walls of flame and even [illusions] to confuse and disorient the stupid trolls.'

    You say, 'What illusions?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'A select few of Mithaniel's chosen know the secrets of spinning illusions. This skill allowed our bravest warriors to infiltrate the Troll's defenses and ensure victory. These are some of our most closely guarded secrets. We only [teach] them to a select few so they can better aid us in our battle.'

    You say, 'Please teach me.'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'You must first [prove] yourself a friend of Gukta before I will teach you our secrets.'

You say, 'How do I prove myself a friend?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'Very well, I will put your loyalty to the test. Long ago, a great hero of our people lost his life fighting the Trolls. He was in Rathe Mountains investigating a rumor that the Trolls were stockpiling special weapons in an effort to turn the tide of war back in their favor. He was ambushed by a group of troll marauders and their captain Krignok. He fought valiantly, slaying the marauders and eventually locking swords with the captain. But in the end, exhaustion got the better of him and he died by the troll's hand. The Krignok respected the froglok's ferocity and swore that they would one day finish their fight. So through a dark ritual the troll Captain locked the froglok's spirit in his own sword and broke it into 3 pieces. One piece he placed on the [battlefield] where they fought. The other piece he gave to an [infamous troll] warrior to guard. The location of the third piece has been lost over the time but there are [clues] as to where it may be.'

    You say, 'What battlefield?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'The Mountains of Rathe hold many stories. One of them is the story of froglok warrior Chalex for this is the place where he was killed. Find the place where his bones are kept and say aloud "I wish to recover what is lost" and if you are worthy you shall receive a gift.'

    You say, 'What infamous troll?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'Gribnor is one of the strongest trolls alive, he is also one of the shortest. His strength is the reason that the Troll Captain entrusted him with a piece of the sword because he knew that it would be almost impossible for anyone to take it away from him. Last we heard Gribnor had taken up residence in Neriak Third Gate along with the rest of those vile trolls. I warn you to be careful as allies of Gukta are not welcome in the home of Innoruuk's children.'

    You say, 'What clues?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'The troll captain spent some time in the lower part of Guk. Apparently he was trying to control the undead frogs there and use them against us. His plans did not see fruition and while trying to escape he dropped the sword blade. It is rumored that another explorer found it and the power drove him insane doomed to wander the halls of Lower Guk seeking only to destroy others. I believe you will find this to be the toughest piece to retrieve.'

    First Piece

Go to 2585, -2040 in the Rathe Mountains. (50 minute respawn)

You say, 'I wish to recover what is lost.'
A spectral energy surrounds you as something appears before you.
A spectral pommel appears in your hands.

    Second Piece

Go to Lower Guk and kill "a corrupted gnome explorer" at 1075, -750, -245.

A ghoulish figure rises from the explorer's corpse.

You say, 'Hail, a spectral shimmer'

A spectral shimmer says 'Thank you for releasing me, take this and find the rest if you truly wish to help me.' The spectral shimmer fades away.

    Third Piece

Go to Neriak 3rd Gate and find Gribnor and his Thug at 1399, -1657 in a tower.

Gribnor`s Thug scowls at you, ready to attack -- he appears to be quite formidable.
    You begin casting Pacification.
    Your target looks unaffected.
    You begin casting Dazzle.
    Your target cannot be mesmerized.
    You have been summoned!
    You begin casting Forlorn Deeds.
Your target is immune to changes in its attack speed.
Gribnor`s Thug has been slain by ______!

Gribnor the Small has been slain by ______!

A ghoulish figure rises from Gribnor's corpse.

You say, 'Hail, a spectral shimmer'

A Spectral Shimmer says 'Take this final piece and hurry, my power gets weaker by the moment.' The spectral shimmer fades away.

    Restore the Blade

Go back to Master Scribe Uklo in Gukta and give him the three pieces.

Master Scribe Uklo says 'I just can't believe that I am holding all three items. You are truly amazing. Now let me see. . . Seems the blade has been fused with some sort of material. We must remove this before the sword can be restored. I think this calls for an old recipe. Take this distiller and use it to mix some skyash bile and a pinch of drake lava powder together. You should be able to find the bile in the mountains of fire and the drake lava powder is best retrieved from fire drakes in the mountains of lava. Bring me the result and I should be able to restore this ancient weapon.'

Uklo grins as you hand him the restorative. 'Words cannot describe what you have done. This is truly a wonderful day for our citizens. Now I can rebuild the sword and our hero can finally finish that which he started. Please, while this is more then enough proof of your loyalty, I must ask that you take this sword and place it in the remains. Return with proof that it has been done and I shall reward you with the knowledge you seek.'

    Redeem Chalex

Go back to Rathe Mountains and give the blade to "a pile of froglok remains."

A spectral figure appears emanating a powerful yet ghastly aura. Warrior Spirit Chalex says 'Your kindness has given me a chance to finish that which I started. While I thank thee for restoring my blade and bringing it to me I am not worthy to wield it until I have destroyed the one who killed me. Please hold my sword until I have redeemed myself by vanquishing the vile Troll Captain Krignok. Now I must ask that you protect me, I can feel his presence close by and once again he is not alone.'

He gives you back Marr's retribution.

Warrior Spirit Chalex shouts 'Come forth coward, this time we fight on equal terms!'

Krignok's undead minions shamble towards you slowly, littering the ground with rotting flesh.

Warrior Spirit Chalex shouts 'Give it up Krignok, you are outmatched when facing a paladin of Mithaniel Marr!'

Undead Captain Krignok shouts 'Your beliefs will find you dead by my hands once again frog!'

You must hold off the minions while Chalex and Krignok do battle. Chalex will defeat Krignok after about 20-30 seconds and despawn, reappearing as Chalex the Redeemed standing next to Master Scribe Uklo.

Troll Captain Krignok says, 'I yield Chalex, you are truly a worthy opponent.' Images of the dead whip around the air as Krignok returns to the spectral world taking any of his remaining minions with him. The Warrior Spirit thanks Mithaniel for a second chance as he stands before you redeemed. He then looks at you and asks for his sword.

You say, 'Hail, Chalex The Redeemed'

Chalex The Redeemed Looks at you longingly, hand outstretched.

    Give him Marr's Retribution.

As Chalex takes the sword he begins to change. Old becomes new right before your eyes as the touch of Mithaniel reshapes the warrior spirit. 'Thank you again. Your kindness has allowed my spirit to go home. Please show this to my people so they will have a memory of what you have done.'

Waving goodbye Chalex The Redeemed disappears just as quickly as he appeared.

    You receive A Spectral Memory.

    Final Reward

Go back to Uklo in the Rathe Mountains and give him the spectral memory.

Uklo kneels before you as tears of happiness roll down his face. 'I thank you. Since our creation it has been rare that we have received such kindness. You will always be welcome in our city and future generations will croak the story of your greatness. Please take this as a small token of my gratitude you have truly earned it.'

If you accidently lose this or give it to the wrong person you can just Hail Uklo and he'll give you a new distiller so you don't have to start over from square one.
    RUNES!
    # Jan 04 2004 at 4:47 PM Rating: Decent
key to the encounter = runes, runes, runes

This guy lifetaps and then lifetaps more, believe he even procs a lifetap... you chain rune on your tank and doesn't gain any life from the lifetaps, just like VS. Duo'd him with a 65 ranger tanking him, was close cuz I couldn't start runing till i finished zoning, but was done with 2 people.

I did Gribnor the Small today with just a 64 cleric, 64 rogue and 65 chanter. I (rouge) pulled him to the zone in and zoned out, zoned back in and tagged him solo then promptly beat him down. It helps to have Dark elf illusion and pull cause then you JUST get the three mobs, Gribnor and his 2 thugs. The fight was long and hard but we did it with the chanter runing when necessary and the cleric healing and meleeing for fun. The chanter and cleric were both low on mana and at one point the cleric got aggro and died but only after 2x DAs and me backstabbing the heck outta him. He enraged and I just disciplined nimble and dodges all of his enrage attacks and the chanter got off another rune to save my butt and viola, we won.

But with a proper tank and me backstabbing the whole time this is such an easy fight. The pull is easy with a rogue with run speed 3 and dark elf illusion, just make sure everyone is invis at zone in and keep zoning in and out and tagging him until you get him solo.

Wow this quest looks annoying! Was hoping to do it at 52 with my ench but I am really worried about the fight with gribnor the small. My enchanter on tribunal has the following steady group.

    51 War
    51 Shm
    51 Ench (me)
    47 wiz (me)
    48 cleric
    48 SK

What level would this group have to be to kill Gribnor? How hard does he hit? Approx HP? How hard do his thugs hit?

Seems kinda silly to have such a hard fight for a lvl 52 spell :0/

Gribnor was a MASSIVE undercon. I had a few folks 60+ helping me and we had a few deaths. As well, you cannot single pull him. I had a 63 monk trying to split them too and his thug kept adding to the fight.

This is actually a mini raid encounter.

Ya, can pull him single. We did it in the courtyard right infront of his house. The group waited way up in back, and I just kept pulling him down and feigning....eventually I was able to tag him solo, just took a few tries.

    I think we had a 65 cleric, a 60ish ench, a 65 beastlord, and me as a 58 shadow knight.

K pulled the gnome while bored camping for the De mask, didnt have a clue what he was for but he didnt like me, toasted him and the adds but the shimmer walked back to his spawn point. Now intrigued i clear back to it and hailed it to get the message ' stares at you uncomprehendingly' or some such. So either he only speaks to chanters or he only speaks to people who have the quest already. You cant pick it up as a passby and then decide to do the quest at a guess
    Tips on neriak guy
    # Oct 23 2003 at 1:37 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, just did the neriak troll. Here is some tips don't listen to what people say he is NOT slowable he can't be snared or rooted his guards can't be either. My group did it with only a 65 SK and me 65 chanter and a 65 druid (didn't even need to heal) and a 65 cleric and that's it. Concentrate on the small guy the guards aren't much and there is a cleric green con mob that walks by the zone in he heals the small guy he can be mez'd your roll in this fight is to chain mez the cleric guard and try to nuke the little guy. Remind your group don't hail the spawn after the little guy is dead or you have to do it all over again. After you get the item just gate or prt out. Hope this helps ya =)

Did this today within about 5 hours, part that slowed it up the most was lguk guy wasnt up, but we just waited and killed what seemed to be a regular frog PH, Gnome spawned 1 hour later. Hit Neriak, brought me(65sk), 65 chant, 65 druid, 65 necro, 64 cleric, 60 war. Pulled Gribnor and his 2 thugs came, I tanked all 3 unslowed easily untill necro got pet on one, and war tanked other. Dropped Super HT on Gribnor and dropped him to like 75% or so. They dropped thugs, and then helped on him. Was easy fight, I think i took like 1-2 Ch max. Bought Bile in bazaar, Ash dropped off first drake we killed in LS. Did turnins and headed to Rathe.
This only messy part, Chanty and druid werent expecting all the minions to spawn, even tho i warned em =P. They jumped on chanty and promptly dropped her, then i agroed em and dropped to 8% fast, but i just ran out in front, they run slow. Druid healed /sigh, so she got agro and dropped to 50% before she moved. after a few secs they despawned, had her port and pick up Chanty, he was up at least 10mins for her to get back, she looted corpse and turned in. Back to gukta for turnins, gratz on her spell.
Hope some of this info helps, was pretty easy, just semi time consuming.

    # Oct 03 2003 at 12:13 PM Rating: Decent
Just killed the small guy last night. We set up at the Neriak 3rd gate/foriegn quarter zone. Had a 65 necro with rune and his harmshield loaded. He nailed the little guy and ran all the way to the necro guild over the water befoe stopping to check his progress. He ended up using his harmshield on the way cause the little guy is fast, he lost the 2nd thug right after that and was able to get grib al lthe way to the zone with no adds. There we had 64 mage with air pet, the necros pet a 64 beastlord, myself 65 chanty and my 65 cleric, also a 53 cleric , and 59 druid, as a warning no spells will land ever from leve l65s. A disease type life tap landed for 80 points, he als ofears and does dot you. It was pure melee fight cause hes highly magic reist even with mala and tash, all we did was kee pthe pets alive. Good luck hope this helps
    Another way?

Is it possible that we are missing something here? Maybe Gribnor will talk to small (shrunken)people. I say this because the froggy says " I believe you will find this to be the toughest piece to retrieve" referring to the guy in Guk, who is 1/10 as difficult as Gribnor. Also Gribnor screams something like "They all come to laugh at me". I mean maybe there is another way past this guy, killing isnt always the only answer. Am i hoping too much here?

I just completed this quest and I must say it was a great deal of fun and the storyline was interesting. A couple tips I can offer:

The skyash bile can be purchased in the bazaar as it is a pretty common drop. I hunted in SFM quite a lot and destroyed many of these common items. Save yourself a silly run-around and go buy one in the bazaar. It's not a compelling part of the quest, nor a challenge to go get yourself, just a waste of time so go buy one for 1p.

The fire drake ash is No Drop so you have to loot it yourself. Take the Neriak stone from PoK and run north into Lavastorm mountains. The drakes right near that zoneline will drop one very quickly.

The pile of froglok remains is in the corner of a building remains in Rathe Mountains which is easy to see.

The corrupted gnome explorer is through a pit trap in LGuk. The easiest way to him is to head through the bedroom toward the storeroom. When you get to the walkway near where the gargoyles sit (before the ***/sup room) jump off the edge. Upon landing, turn around 180 degrees and follow the hall. You will see a red square at a hallway intersection. The trap is just left of that. The CGE is very MR and I only got a mezz to land once. He repeatedly resisted root even after tash. It's best to have someone melee him.

Gribnor the Small is really hard. His encounter is a massive undercon and he is on par with a small epic raid. I did it with a 65 Shaman, 65 Mage, 65 Druid, 63 monk, 62 paladin, 62 monk, 54 cleric, 56 enchanter (me) and 53 ranger. The mage and ranger died and I died twice. We had trouble splitting them and finally got to just Grib and one Thug. Make a level 1 DE necro or Sk and scope out the area so you know the way in. We had to clear a few wandering mobs so we could pull to the cove (over the bidge you will see when you get there). Also if you have levitate or SoE you can lev to the cove and avoid running through part of the city. It's hard to describe so make a scout and go look then you wil see what I mean.

The final fight was fun but I didn't even need to help Chalex. Once I spawned him i had about 15 sec until the General spawned. Teh general's minions came right aftr me and left Chalex alone to kill the General. The minions appear very slow almost snared and I outran them easily with RS3. There were about 6 of them - all large green dulak-like trolls. The hit me very hard and I was knocked down to 40% health by the time I ran out of range. I led them a safe distance away and mezzed them all easily.

The funnest part of the quest was completing it and watching Chalex's big goofy grin and wave as he thanked me - it was certainly a Kodak moment.

A reminder too - if you bring friends, make sure nooone hails the spirit that is spawned at each step. Whomever hails it gets the reward and it then despawns immediately. People sometimes hail a mob when they see it out of habit (to announce it's presence, etc.) make sure that noone hails it.

Many EQ quests are stupid and painfully difficult for the reward. The Gribnor encounter was a little harder than it should have been (having to travel to the very deepest part of Neriak already) but other than that, this is a well designed quest and lots of fun.

Did the guys in Neriak last night; we had (all level 65) 2 rangers, 1 shaman, 1 ench. I used my summoned pet, but the DE who paths back and forth into the building and towards the city is DC-able and also mezzable. The quest NPC and his two guards are not mezzable, slowable etc - also neither Dementing Visions nor Insanity landed on any of the three.

The first time we just about wiped since I hadn't looked here for details on the mobs. :) However the second time we knew what to expect and although it was a sloppy fight, we still won. I cast Illusion: Fire Elemental on us for the added damage shield, the ranger pulled. Combination of ranger melee/bow usage, my pet jumping in, and - since the mobs were pretty much immune to anything I cast - I pulled out my dagger and waded in. :) Lot of HP on these little fellas, and they hit in the 250+ range, which isn't much if you're used to hunting POP mobs, but adds up quickly if you don't have a lot of HP, since you can't slow these guys. The thugs dropped rusty swords.

Heehee... that little itty bitty teeny troll is too cute though. :)

The troll is KOS to everybody. When I was first trying to find him, I used my DE SK (Innoruuk worshipper), and ran her up into the building to see who else was with him on the balcony. Got a message about "everybody comes to laugh at me!" (something to that effect) and then he and his thugs proceed to beat you senseless. :)
    Completed and working

The last encounter is easily doable solo. Drink SoW potion, rune yourself, do turn in. Run around so all trolls aggro on you, and just kite them around while Chalex fights.
I brought a group, not sure what to exspect, and most of us got killed trying to fight - there were too many mobs. I was still alive when Chalex won and all undead poofed. Then we rezzed everyone, and I went to Gukta for final turn in.

    Spell works well now.
    Illusion still broken

I finished the quest today. Had a group help me with the mobs in Neriak. I did the invis trick on the turn in to the frog bones in Rathe Mountains, so I was able to watch the fight. None of the troll undead assisted in the fight, it was quite boring.

Anyway, I knew the illusion was still broken, so I scribed it and cast it. I turned into a human male that is smaller than a usual human male. Even though I knew the spell was broken it still made me angry. Somehow I was expecting it fixed already. Stuff like this shouldn't make it past the test server. But I guess it's too much to ask. It's truly sad. Anyway, I plan on logging a bug report in game several times a day until it gets fixed. I'm sure spam will annoy SoE as much as it annoys me.

    My Uklo quest cont...

Last night I completed this quest. I purchased a skylash bile in the bazar for 2pp. Then went to Lava and and looted the NO DROP lava powder after killing only 1 fire drake. I don't know if I was lucky or it is just a common drop.

I continued on back to Uklo to return the sword pieces. He gives you a container to combine the bile and powder in, which I did and then handed it back to him. Then he gives you the sword to turn into the pile of bones in Rathe.

I went to Rathe. I had all runes up, uproar and had a pet. Turned in the sword and he gave it back to me. Then the battle began. I wanted to watch but couldn't see through all the undead trolls that attacked me. I chained AE stunned to keep them busy for 20 seconds or so. Then hailed Chalex and turned the sword back in. He turned into the Gukta frog, gave me the memory and I was on my way back to Uklo.

Uklo gave me the scroll:illusion Guktan after handing him the memory. The scroll said right on it. Error: with a number after it. I scribed the scroll and then the spell icon when I right clicked and held. Says Error on it as well. I casted and I was a human. Not a small human. Just a regular size human.

Dissapointed that the illusion doesn't work. But after reading the posts here I expected it. It will be fixed in time.

    Happy hunting.

    My quest experiences
    # Aug 20 2003 at 4:50 PM Rating: Excellent
    So far in my experience:

1st piece: You have to start the quest by talking to Master Uklo or you will not be able to say the words " I wish to recover what is lost" in Rathe Mountains at the battle spot. Once I spoke with the Master I was able to complete step 1.

2nd piece: 'A corrupted gnomish explorer' had been killed on my way down to him in Lower Guk. He is near the Arch Mage room. There is a false floor you fall into just past the safe hall on your right. Location 1075, -750. Anyway the spirit was up when I got there. I hailed him and received the 2nd piece. There is conflicting posts here about hailing the spirit. My guess is it can't be just anyone to hail. Only someone who has spoken to Master Scribe Uklo to become in a sense 'flagged' for this. But I did not test this to be sure. To be on the safe side. I asked my group not to hail the froglok spirit.

3rd piece: By far the most difficult to get. I have project illusion (aa ability) and as a side note I learned that turning my group members into Dark Elfs did not change their faction. Although Dark elf illusion on myself worked just fine throughout. We had to invis to get to 3rd gate and we set up camp at the zone in.

On the first attempt we had myself 65 enchanter, 65 warrior, 65 druid, 51 ranger and 51 cleric. There is conflicting posts about being able to stun. First, I was unable to pacifiy Gribnor the small(used pacification) This did not aggro them. I got the message 'your target is unaffected'. Second, I was unable to slow, ae stun (color line), dot (strangle), dd (insanity) this was after I pulled with Howl of Tashan.

Being in Dalk Elf illusion allowed me the ability to NOT aggro any gaurds during the pull. When I pulled, I had Arcane rune, Rune of Zeb and Eldrich Rune ready to go. I was HT'd immediatly, which ate the Rune of Zeb or most of it. I didn't stop to check buffs. =)I got turned around on the way to the zone and the mobs knocked off my runes. I casted Eldrich rune (aa ability), which allowed me to get back to the zone alive. I resisted fear, which is nice. So make sure you have Resist Magic on. I also had Flight of the Eagles. But I stayed on the path and didn't go over any water.

Fight notes: During this battle our cleric had to go through many (5 I think she said) CH's on the MT. The druid had his epic and said that the epic dot took hold. I zoned out then back in and casted my 62 pet and sent him into attack (aa ability I have full control over pet). We killed both Thugs first. Then it was just Gribnor who was down to 50% when he aggroed the druid (who was right next to the zone) Gribnor summoned the MT who got turned around and zoned out by accident. Needless to say things went south. The MT came back in got aggro with 20% health but the cleric was in the middle of a CH for the ranger and the druid had already been killed. MT died and we had to zone out and try again.

2nd attempt: We had Gribnor all alone. The druid had to camp. So just the 4 of us left. I pulled him to the zone again and it was pretty elementry from there. Straight fight. Although I casted a few Runes on the MT while the cleric was CH'ing and Gribnor does ENRAGE so be ready. The spirit spawned and I hailed right away and got the 3rd piece.

Going to complete this quest tonight. I hope the information was helpful.

Hi all and im here to give some help / warnings about this quest. I have a 65 chanter and did this quest on the day / day after the release and as a warning to those that are going to do it. At this time till its repaired IF you fail anywhere in the middle of this quest its your only shot. i have lost the marr's retribution hand in sword 2 times now but the GMs have replaced it 2 times and on the last time he mentioned to me that they are aware of the issues with the quest AND the GM himself could not do the quest again when he tried. Also in reguards Gibnor the small hes not so bad as i did it for my other chanter with my warrior and my cleric on my second account and i pulled Gibnor into the hallway and his thugs seem to become stupid and lost and just stood at the doorway.
    New spell ...

Just got my spell, after 1 near wipe in neriak, our cleric noticed he could stun these mobs. So I did AE stun, at lvl 62, they didnt resist any of my stuns. The spell - illusion guktan, however has an effect error in it, it turns the player into a MALE HUMAN, yes even females. A female chanter showed me the effect from her spell. In Rathe, the last fight, keeping him alive, is not to hard, just agro and run with sow, or run3. There are about 8 of the trolls that spawn to try to kill the frog. In LGuk, the gnome is in some pit, we fell in and there he was. Conned lt blue to 62.

okay this post is acurate to the date of its post
the grib the small and his thugs were all....
    1. immune to changes in run speed ie snare rooot
    2. immune to mez
    3. immune to stun
    4. immune to slow
    5. enrage
    6. tho the lil guy is indif, his guards were kos, and it seems to be coded so that you touch any of them, they all agro.
    7. immune to wake of tranquility
    8. the spawn is bugged. if you dont kill both thugs the next time gribnor spawns, it spawns 2 thugs and grib so you can end up with for example in my case 4 thugs and grib waiting for you when you get to his humble abode.
    9. the CAN be split with a good splitter.
    10. my group that took him down consisted of 52 chanter 65bst 65 sk 53 drui. no deaths and we had those pesky delfs keep agroing the poor druid( yea i get to do some chanter work on my chanter quest i get to mez the stupid delfs!! whoopie!)
I have two complaints *gasp* this seems a bit tough for a group of 50-55's to do, esp if you cannot do anything to the darn mobs, second that darn skylash bile, stupid old world quest needing something from kunark is annoying to kunarkless tards like me 8P
    hope this helps

I just concluded this quest wanted to post info on final turn in.
bought the skylash bile in baz for 25p
combining the two drake drops gives the potion and eats the container (contairne is 2 slot btw)
after that turn in, ran to rathe mnts and ran to where the pile of froglok bones was supposed to be, it wasnt, so i sat and waited, about 20 mins later it spawned (jts nice to have time to organize ones spell book isnt it 8P )
i buff up yank pet out buff it.. im ready..
i hand over the sword and imidiatly cast improved invis ( once i organized my spell book i had a the bright idea to goto the zone in and bind myself) anyways invis finishes a few seconds later the named and his cronies spawn surrounding the large pile of debrise about 10 feet away, the paly/frog runs and kills it, his cronies didnt assist to kill the paly/frog and they didnt see invis either. 10-20 secs l8r the baddie is dead, and I hand in the sword to him, gaining the locket of escape looking item in exchange,... I am now trotting back to gukta for the final turn in.
*edit* once the baddie died, his cronies despawned&

ok at the end of this quest, when I turned the final sword into the bones of Chalex, I was promptly obliderated by the minions (undead trolls) that spawned and wiped me out before I even knew what was happening. Hardest hit was 134 but they double slammed me.

I came back to loot my corpse and Chalex the frog was there still, so I did manage to finish the quest but BEWARE when you turn in that last part...run off or have some peeps with you or just be freakin' ready for those trolls... I think I counted 4 before I went into the LOADING phase.

OK we went to do this and as posted above, Gribnor has some friends. Gribnor is indifferent but he has 4 dark blue mobs (to 65) around him scouling to attack, all unmezzable unrootable. 60 cler, 55 war, 63 sk, 59 druid got our butts handed to us. Tried dotting from far and no luck. We were able to split once but he feared the warrior then ate the cleric as a snack. It looked like there were only supposed to be two helper mobs but that it got bugged and two more popped.
I don't think we thought to try this in troll form but not sure it would have mattered.

Just did the troll night before last, and again last night. Seems there are 4 Thugs up if the last person didn't kill them, just Gribnor. Not sure if they despawn or not, but there's the reason for there being 4 instead of 2.
Also, not sure if anyone cares but Gribnor is kos to trolls.. but not to my dark elf enchanter. The thugs however, WERE kos to both.

:edit: Just remembered that you have to have started the quest in Gutka before killing the troll in neriak.. otherwise when you hail the frog to get the part of the sword, he wont respond or give you the item. I had to bind there and hop to PoK, run to Gutka, find the froggy and gate back to get it.

lolz, 279 is hard? i could udnerstand if it was 470 but thats still not hard at all.. aka means all u need is a cleric a pally and a dps as rogue monk or beasty prolly and can kill the troll np. my 2cents are if 279 is hard and the troll is the hardest part then this quest is cake.

yah, well, a 470 hp lifetap proc (as the post you're reffering to mentions) wouldn't make this battle any easier... depending on how much he uses it... plus he's got buddies... so as "easy" as you want to make this quest... I'd still like some more info on this guy as he does seem to be "one" of the hardest parts...

Yes, the troll in Neriak was much harder than the gnome in LGuk. Did the troll with a single group levels 57 to 65 - and while victory was certain, there were more than a few CHs involved.
Same group ganked the gnome in seconds. NOW, when you kill these two, an undead froglok pops. Whoever hails this froglok will get the piece.

Whoever hails this froglok will get the piece. While this part is MQable, it pays to repeat that whoever hails this froglok will win the piece. So if peeps are watching you, warn them not to hail the froggie.

Ok, after you get the three pieces, return them to Uklo. You will want an open inventory slot. If you forget and find you have Uklo's Complicating Device (not the official name) stuck on your pointer, you can destroy it, as hailing Uklo will get you another one. (Hail Uklo after each step and witness his increasing exasperation). Ok, after you get the container, you will need a skyash bile from Skyfire Mountains, and Drake Lava Powder from the Lavastorm Fire Drakes (cannot remember if this is no drop, but we got it on the third kill). You combine these to make a 'Vial of Magical Blade Restorative', which goes BACK to Uklo. Now he gives you the blade to return to the remains spawn in Rathe Mountains. When you give the sword to the spawn, Chalex spawns and is beset by Troll Captain Krignok. They fight. At the same time a SWARM (lost count at 8) of trolls spawned and tried to kill our bard (natch). Chalex and Krignok fight for less than 30 secs and Chalex wins (I don't think this is left to chance). Now redeemed, Chalex repops from an undead froglok to an epic-wielding Guktan. But you still hold his true sword. Hand it to him once again and receive Memory of Chalex, or something like that. Looks like a pocket watch. Take THIS back to Uklo and you are done! You will receive Spell: Illusion: Guktan, which is NO DROP. Chalex spawns next to Uklo, looking pleased. I hailed him but nothing happened. He was still there when I left, red to 61.

The whole thing took maybe 3 hours total. I'd like to send a big thanks to my fellow members of Death Misdealt here on the Sol Ro server: Geniely, 65 Cleric; Calib, 64 warrior; Gunger, 61 Warrior; Kilwraith, 63 Warrior; Balzaak, 63 Paladin (and his alt Cherribomb, 52 Wizard); Calian, 61 Druid; Winyene, 62 Bard; and Mendriel, 57 Bard/Trouble Magnet. Never needed more than six at any step along the way, and could probably have done it all without the cleric (but she is so darn cute).
