    just did this quest
    # Aug 02 2001 at 4:03 AM Rating: Default
as a cazic-thule cleric on sullon zek that plans to hunt in karnor & HS, this quest is important..so i did it today...spent ~500pp on bone chips buying them @ 3pp/stack in FoB & kurn, and probalby got a 100 or so chips on my own from ganking skels on the way...

so now for the down and dirty party of the quest, turning the chips in:

    1. get an iksar friend in your group to play 'lookout', or hire a compentant low level guy. have the lookout SPAM you with a hotkey that warns when a crusader is nearby, and get hte hell out
    2. sort your bone chips into stacks of 4, and hand in 4 stacks of 4 each time you trade with mozo for efficiency...sort more chips while waiting for crusaders to go by
    3. keep buying bone chips while you turn them in, you need alot
    4. once you get to dubious to a crusader, con them all because some have faction that raises lower (the Q one mainly)..once all are dubious, you dont need the lookout
    5. i basically spent ~10 buying/questing bone chips and got to indifferent...i expect a non-cazic player to take at least twice as long..

note- did @ lv47, also got 3 blue of xp total, tho sometimes i split xp with the lookout

    notes:

1.when you get dubious you can bank in Cabalis but CANNOT sell (need apprehensive)

    2. there is a wandering necro-faction mob (Gryphe?) that is near the bank area...he WILL cast a fear-like spell that makes every npc kos to you,so you best have sow on , and do your best to avoid the guy

    3. at indifferent, the cabalis npcs have better prices than indiffernt OT npcs

    4. traveling thru west cabalis (going to WW) requires you to run around the necro guild area but you can skirt around it without aggro'ing any npcs in the building

    5. when you turn in chips to mozo & are still kos to crusaders..the best place to 'run & sort' is the hill to the NW (take a left coming out from cabalis)..if you're attacked you can zone into east cabalis...best to keep sow & hp buffs up (i even kept symbol on)..never was attacked because i had good lookouts

Let me tell you something. Unless they have changed faction in the last month or so, Cabilis faction can be a B**CH to get. As an ogre shaman worshipping Rallos Zek, I killed sarnaks in Overthere from around levels 32 to 44. Then would camp goblins on and off for hours. Finally spent a lot of time in Old Sebilis. I am now level 55. After camping the goblin camp for a couple of days, I suddenly got the message "your faction is as high as it can get" with Legions of Cabilis. I went and conned the troopers and I was 'indifferent' to them. Amazing. So at least for one race/class/god combination the highest you can get is indifferent.

God only knows what I have to turn in to get crusaders to like me.

I know of this quest so ill probelly give it a try with my nec BUT how can i part with my bone chips lol ill get more form nek forest maybe ill train the log (never done that and ive always wanted too) but frist ill check the other quest to see what they offer. The trooper con amibly and when i hail then they greated me and we had tea and everything was going nice until the crusader harm touched me and slashed me to death ( so ill need to work on them in faction. HEY are there anyother faction i should worry about in the city? i DO NOT want to die in there at all

Does a dark elf follower of innoruuk give you any bit of a head start with getting cablilis factions? I just want to know because it would be nice to be able to go to cabilis with a char other than my monk.
    Go figure

I'm the 52 agnostic dwarf, Gymly. So far I've turned in 118 stacks. But at the 100 stack mark (2000 chips) Crusader Brodi and also Crusader Quarg con dubious. So I'm asuming the other factions involved with the bone chip quest will now be dubious. I still can't buy and sell to merchants tho, and I kill the outcast iksaars when I see them. Hmm, maybe being agnostic helps.

    How many chips?
    # Jul 20 2001 at 11:18 PM Rating: Default
I am a 52 agnostic dwarven warrior and I was bored outta my mind. So I decided to do this quest. So far I've turned in 41 stacks (820 bone chips). Troopers are warmly via killing sarnaks and such in my Ill Omen days and Cruasaders are KOS. How many bone chips will it take for the NPCs in Cabilis to be dubious? And how many mobs for the necros to be dubious? I'm not really concerned with banking, but just merely moving from zone to zone more easy. Any info will help. Thank you.
    RE: How many chips?
    # Jul 21 2001 at 11:16 AM Rating: Default
One more question. Do you have to turn in the bone chips 4 unstacked and get one faction point. Or can you turn in 4 stacks at a time and be credited with 20 faction points as you would by turning in them in unstacked.
    Numbers Please?
    # Jul 20 2001 at 3:12 PM Rating: Decent
Thanks Mern for your post. Please keep us posted on your progress and the number of bone chips you are turning in.

As for me, I am an Erudite SK, worshipping Cazic as well. I've turned in around 1000 bone chips, and am now threateningly to Crusaders.

I've heard the jump from threateningly to dubious takes ALOT more bone chips, but, I haven't seen any numbers for this regarding someone who follows Cazic.

Any advice from those that have done it is very much welcome.

    Thanks!

Do the bone chip quest....get the greenmist faction up, and enjoy =)

Bone chips not only drop from decaying skeletons, but from many various kinds of skeletons. Just thought I'd say that
    not worth it
    # Jun 14 2001 at 5:30 PM Rating: Decent
regarding not worth it. When you start adventuring in kaesora and city of mist and traks teethe and the higher kunark zones or even dal nir time spent gathering cebillis faction is well worth it.Especially to warrior classes and us non porting casters who are tired of spending hours getting to a bank.besides cabillis faction means the ability to do cabillis quest i have so much valuable iksar quest loot abd noone to turn it into. I highly recommend getting faction as soon as possible for anyone who plans on making kunark their adopted home
    base faction
    # May 23 2001 at 6:08 PM Rating: Default
Some one may have covered this already, but they fixed the bug that caused base faction when logging on or zoning for a few seconds. Besides getting ppl killed when camping in HH, it was being exploited in Skyshrine =)

    # May 21 2001 at 3:21 AM Rating: Decent
I am a level 51 dark elf Inny worshipping necro.
After normal level progression and a recent goblin/sarnak killing spree I am considered fondly/kindly? by the troopers and KoS (to the tune of a 700dd smite) to the crusaders. I had no idea this bone chip quest existed, but now it's time to take a trip to Kurn's Tower and get a few backpacks full of chips. Thanks to Verant's infinite wisdom on making the finer zones to hunt negative Venril Sathir faction I need a new banking/shopping alternative on the same continent... FV would had been my first choice, but I don't think I will ever dig myself out of that hole.

I am a Troll Shaman who worships Cazic Thule. I figure that since I worship CT that gaining faction should be easy =) I've fought in Sebilis during 50, 51, and 52..and am now an ally with Troopers..still KOS of course to Crusaders and merchants.
so I'm turning in bone chips:
    # bone chips Troopers Merchants Crusaders
    ------------ -------- --------- ---------
    0 ally scowl scowl
    750 ally dubious scowl
    1300 ally dubious threatingly

ran out of time to do more..but will tomorrow..and I'll post an update then =)

    faction in cabilis
    # May 15 2001 at 8:31 AM Rating: Default
i have a lvl 60 cleric that is able to walk around freely anywhere in cabalis thanks to the faction of fighting in old sebilis and doing this bone chip quest...the hardest part was actually getting the crusader guards to be non KOS(he's human after all). but i find this REALLY an awesome way to run through zones if i need to( and i dont have a port from my freindly taxi druid). if you have the time and patience, it's WELL worth it to do this.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 03 2001 at 2:05 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) guys dont spend 2 weeks getting your faction up in cab! Just run to Fironia or OverThere I mean are you gonna spend 2 weeks running back and forth?

    # May 02 2001 at 8:51 AM Rating: Default
If I remember correctly there were a couple of quests (one specifically in Rivervale-- where doing the old attack on one NPC to bring them closer to a second NPC, which by enabling someone just to stand in one spot trading items from one NPC to the other and continuing for sometimes hours....)
I am pretty sure I remember hearing Verant laying down the law, making such attempts to "cheat" in this fashion a punishable offense, from temporary account suspension; with possible future banning if caught in the act of "cheating" the system again.
How to do this at level 20
    # Apr 11 2001 at 9:54 AM Rating: Good
I'm a level 20 bard, I find that most of the world is pretty boring. After falling in love with Kunark I knew i needed to get my faction up so I can bank in Cabilis, otherwise it would involve a timely trip to Freeport. Here's one strategy for ya. Near the giant fort you'll find a river that leads to a pond. At that pond you'll find that goblin whelps, watchers, scouts and decaying skeletons spawn like crazy. Just run around there killing everything you see, you'll get trooper faction from the goblins and bone chips from the decayed skele's. It's pretty easy. After about 500 goblins you'll no longer be KOS to the troopers so you can start handing in bone chips. Unless you're religion is Cazic-Thule you will have to hand in 4,000 bone chips. This is due to the fact that (i assume) you start off with negative 1000 faction points in cabilis and it takes 4 bone chips for each faction point. You'll still need to raise necro faction as well, there is a crusader in east cabilis that is part of the necro faction. The only way known so far to raise faction with the necros (Brood of Kotiz) is by killing Iksar bandits/footpads/etc... Again, if your diety is not Cazic-Thule it will take a lot of kills. 500 to get to a non KOS status. Currently I'm non KoS to the troopers and i've raise my faction by 80 (320 bone chips) with the other factions. Keep in mind that 2000 bone chips will get you up to dubiously, this is enough so tha that you will be non KoS to the Crusaders/merchants... However you need to hand in the full 4000 before they will trade with you.

Absolutely anybody can fix their faction in Cabilis, it just takes a LOT of time & patience. If you're planing on staying in Kunark and you're not a darkie then doing this quest will make things a lot easier for you in the long run. Especially if you're a Warrior, Shaman, Necromancer or Shadow Knight. You'll be able to train at the guilds in Cabilis once you have high enough faction.

To the Level 20 Bard who goes to Freeport to bank:

There is a Bank in Fironia Vie at the High Elf outpost. Look up the location on eqatlas.com, the bank is somewhere in the middle. You're not KOS in FV are you? Not trying to be a wise-guy, just trying to keep ya from going to Freeport for the simple task of banking. I don't know if there are others on Kunark as I've only ever been to FV and Lake of Ill Omen, but I'd check it out. I've heard of people having major problems getting by the drachnids on the way to FV. But a Ranger friend and I went though them, conned RED-ready to attack to both of us, but didn't touch us. We both accidently back into them. I even had one walk over me while medding. I heard it, stood up and it was over-lapping me. Go figure! But Fironia Vie has gotta be closer than Freeport.

Anyway, it would still be nice to eventually build up the faction to go into Calabis, but there are other options.

    Befallen?
    # Apr 09 2001 at 2:47 PM Rating: Decent
I assume that the bone chips that you hand in are identical to the ones that you get everywhere else in the game.
If so, wouldnt it be easier to walk into befallen, AoE the snot out of the place (apologize to the newbies there), fill your backpacks, and then head to FoB?
I'm a DE SK and have just screwed my VS faction by killing in KC. So I'll probably be doing this quest soon. It would be nice to be able to trade in Cab. My legion of cab faction should be high amiable with all of the sarnaks ive killed :)
I sure hope it doesn't actually take me 3000 bone chips as some have mentioned. That is a lot of pets that could have been cast (not that id want to cast the POS's that we get).
    RE: Befallen?
    # May 08 2001 at 6:07 PM Rating: Default
Kurns tower, mobs go from below 10 to maybe low 20s, is full from ground level up with skeletons. Kurns connects to field of bone... so why run to befallen when you can just zone once?
as a plus, the skellies in kurns agro on sight, but they do not reinforce.
    RE: Befallen?
    # Jul 04 2001 at 9:13 AM Rating: Decent
The zones surrounding Cabilis are literally CRAWLING with skeletons. My god its called the Feild of BONE for a reason they are everywhere, hell I'm suprised they haven't added bone chips to the forage table there. Any one who runs to Befallen to get bone chips for faction in kunark gets everything they deserve. Not only can you harvest them but alot of newbies know people are looking for these chips and sell them for about 2p a stack, an option for those of you who are rich and don't wanna mess with hunting your own.

i would think if it would work that people would have talked about it before, druid harmony used on the crusaders or something wouldnt work? why not? would they resist the spell?
    How Harmony Works!
    # Apr 02 2001 at 10:32 PM Rating: Decent
All that Harmony Does is Reduce the Aggro range WAAAYYYYY down. It does not change their feelings toward you. Harmony makes Mobs relax. It is actually similar to Mezzmerize. Harmony lasts a bit longer but the mob does not have to be attacked to wake up early just need to be too close.

Also, these are the Cabilis newbie guards. They are mucho uber-uber, and there are at least two more around the trooper you want to turn the bone chips in to, more if the Crusaders aren't out roaming. If you try mezzing or harmony, I'm sure it will make you even more unpopular...

KURNS TOWER I believe has been said produces thousands of chips, just save some for pets and go back for more. also a thou isnt gonna do it even if you do worship cazic
Crusader Quarg and how to do it
    # Mar 05 2001 at 5:50 PM Rating: Excellent
Kill Outcast (and similar) Iksars, Sarnaks and Goblins until the Troopers are dubiously to you. Start collecting bonechips, you will need A LOT if you're deity is anything other than Cazic-Thule. Watch out for the crusaders and carefully place yourself in the corner between the main wall and the statue/ support wall thing. Move so close to Mozo, staying as far away as possible from the gate, so you can give hime bonechips (right angle with the statue/ support wall). Give 4*4 stacks at a time. You don't have to run away when the crusaders walk by, you are out of their aggro radius if you have placed yourself correct. There is one problem though, Crusader Quarg is not on CrusadersOfGreenmist faction, so don't con him to know your crusader faction. Con Bodli instead. Quarg seems to be on ScaledMystics faction, and it seems that bonechips give very little faction with those. You just need a lot of bonechips, that's all. When you can get inside Cabilis, don't think that you just can walk around freely in there. You have to raise BroodOfKotiz (Necro) faction enough first. Kill Outcast Iksars, they give this faction. (There are Iksars with necro faction in East Cabilis too).

Since I managed to get a Scowling conned DE necro into FP using that techinque I figured what the hey, might as well try it, WELL, NO good, sorry druids, you are going to have to kill more gobbies or sarnak or whatever(UGH I hate them but not THAT way). I have NOT tried tree form, but I will tonight, I am GETTING INTO that (insert proper curse word) city and THAT is THAT. BTW racism is STUPID outta game too!!!
