This quest begins with Karam Dragonforge in the Mountains of Rathe. He is located in an inn at about /loc 4100, 915.

You say, 'Hail, Karam Dragonforge'

Karam Dragonforge says 'Welcome, ______. I have a number of platemail items, if you are interested. I am also a master [smith] of exotic materials such as dragon scales.'

You say, 'Smith?'

Karam Dragonforge says 'Dragon scales make terrific armor. I can make a [white dragonscale cloak] and [red dragonscale armor]. I have not seen any other colored dragon variants around. But if you see any, be sure to let me know. I would be interested in what can be made from their scales.'

You say, 'Please make a white dragonscale cloak.'

Karam Dragonforge says 'Hrmmm. A white dragonscale cloak eh? Hrmmm. Well, I will make you a deal. You can save me some footwork and I will craft your cloak. I want to propose to my [fiancee] but I have neither a [wedding ring] nor a [present] for her. So, return with a white dragon hide, parts for a [wedding ring], and a [present] for my fiancee, and I will fashion your cloak for you.'

You say, 'Fiancee?'

Karam Dragonforge says 'My fiancee... AHHHH... The love of my life. My purpose for existing. She is a real woman. Long, golden blonde hair with a similarly colored full beard. A stout broad she is, kind and warm at heart. She knows every nook of my essence. But do not let that fool you. She is as strong as many dwarven men. Between you and me, she has even beaten me once or twice armwrestling over who gets the last ale and who has to go to the market.'

You say, 'Wedding ring?'

Karam Dragonforge says 'Only the best will do. I want to make it myself, but I will need you to get some parts as I do not have time. I need a platinum trio ring and a marquise cut alexandrite. The green will go very well with her calluses.'

You say, 'Present?'

Karam Dragonforge says 'Well, she is quite fond of jewelry. I have the perfect necklace, but I am missing the gem for it. I think a square cut black sapphire would complement her eyes and beard so exquisitely.'

"White Dragon Hide" is dropped off Gorenaire and Lady Vox in the Dreadlands and Permafrost Keep, respectively.

Platinum Trio Ring, Marquise Cut Alexandrite and Square Cut Black Sapphire are crafted by jewelers. Hand in those three items to Karam to receive your cloak if you are on a live server or on a progression server during Secrets of Faydwer or after.

On progression servers before Secrets of Faydwer, you need to hand in White Dragon Hide and the enchanted versions of the following: Platinum Diamond Wedding Ring, Black Sapphire Platinum Necklace.

Karam Dragonforge says 'My fiance will be so excited! An exquisite ring for the wedding and a gorgeous necklace as my wedding gift to her. Well, as promised, here is your white dragonscale cloak.'

Can someone confirm this, I'd like to work towards this, but only if I can finish.

I just did the quest with no problem so it must not be bugged. And for those with faction problems i am a dark elf necromancer with dubious faction, and all i did was put items in trade window, had friend cast invis on,and then clicked trade.

Just new info on the quest. It requires an enchanted ring and enchanted necklace. I tried doing this without the jewlery being enchanted and he handed right back to me.

WARNING !!!

Infact this quest is now bugged.

They have modified the NPC text to say that he wants enchanted jewelry but NPC returns the jewelry whether it is made with enchanted platinum or not. NPC however keeps the hide if you hand it over all at once!!!

Did this about 6 months ago, but anyhow here you go:

Yes Wolf for will change faction.

I have a Dark Elf Cleric and spent a few days AE'ing orcs here (about 30-40 at a time) and eventually got the faction from all the belts pads to go to the guy. I was max faction from kills (not max for merchants .. but just changed to dubious I believe).. anyhow, I hailed the Quest npc and he still wouldn't talk, got wolf form and he gave me the text . .did turn in and got the cloak.

The last thing I wanted to do was to spend more time killing for pads / belts.. possibly could have done it w/out wolf form but not certain. Wolf for didn't change my faction (from conning him) with the quest npc but it did change it enough for me to do turn in and get my reward.

3 days later .. 60K bank :)

Just curious how long it took you evil races to get non KOS.. I've been killing these green orcs for days now, and i still cannot get near Kaladim to turn the belts and pads in :(

OK I just finished the quest about 20 minutes ago. I am going to tell you the truth about some of these posts. #1 The wolf form thing DOES NOT work at all. I was Dubious before and after it was cast on me. #2 Chra. buffs/alliance spells dont work either. Had a 58 Bard try to help me but the spell didnt help. However the idea of handing the stuff to him and have a friend/guildie cast invis on you before you click give does work. Also on faction, Go to CB and kill all the orcs you can and loot CB belts and CB shoulderpads and turn them in at Kaladim Warrior guild until you are above Threatingly to a merchant in Kaladim. (Not a merchant in the warrior guild tho, they are on Warrior faction) Then get a friend to go with you and invis you before you click give. That is how I did it.

I just finished the quest tonite.

I used group wolfform to raise my faction from Aprhensive to Indiferent.

Once I had wolf form he gave me the quest text would not talk to me tell I had it.

As a side note he wants jewelry made with enchanted platuim bars not the non magical versions made with non enchanted bars.

I gave him those first before I handed him the White Dragon Hide and he gave them back to me saying he didnt need them.

So I made quick trip to bazaar to get ones made with enchanted bars and grabed another wolfform and he took those so gave him hide and he gave me cloak. :)
Sclaes also?

Okay, first thing's first...it's an all/all cloak, so when I won on a declared open roll, I think people should have just sucked it up and gotten on with their lives. Next, I have terrible faction with Karam (and all of Kaladim for that matter) but I'm going to faction farm it. Before I kill my home town Indgo Brotherhood faction, I am going to try several things...Charisma buffs, different forms/illusions, charming...you name it, I'll try it BEFORE I hand him anything. I just want to know, if all else fails, and I have to destroy my IB faction, how do I raise that back up so I can go home once in awhile?

Okay, after weeks of faction farming I am still KoS, so I've levelled a bit. Now I have one of those handy essence of dwarf potions, and I'm going to try it out tonight. In the process of this faction farming, I have become indifferent to home...a pretty big fall from at least amiable, so I am seeking a less painful method. Will report back when I know.

Even if you faction is NOT rock bottom, KOS is normally -1500 to -2000, which means it takes that many hits to get to Glare.

Did the Muffin quest in Freeport to fix Tunare faction, and it took 3600 muffins to get to Amiable from MAX KOS.

After you get off the floor from Scowl to Glare, Glare is only 800 hits, then about 400 through dubious, then its about 200 per step above that.

These are very rough figures, but a reasonable guide.

Good luck mate.

Wow, they did open roll on this? Holy crap I would have been ticked off, and no, people shouldn't have sucked it up and gotten on with their lives. That was a bad call by the raid leader and that's all there is to it. Go look in the web and see how rare IDIII is. I'm working on AA point #7 at level 52 just because I want to still be able to raid Vox a few more times for a shot at the hide. I'm 2pct from level 53 and planning on staying there for a while, just because I want a shot at this. I know it drops on Gorenaire but Vox is a heck of a lot easier to get to on my server.

I've never yet been on a raid where I have griped about the loot rules, heck on a lot of raids I don't even roll on stuff, but if the leader called open roll on the hide....yeah....I would gripe. And what's more, if I were there with other than a priest or caster class and it was called open roll I wouldn't participate, and if they put my name in there anyway and I won I wouldn't accept it. Raiding is about what's good for everyone, not what's good for you.

Alright, I'm glad you are so terribly altruistic, but as a Shadow Knight, there aren't that many int items worth bothering with the intensive faction farming. Beyond that, they didn't complain about the open roll policy, they complained that a shadow knight won. Also, the casters did not complain when a caster won the weight reduction bag on which many monks were also rolling. The monks did not complain either.

How do I finish this quest?
# Oct 13 2002 at 2:06 PM Rating: Decent
The hide IS no drop. Meaning whatever character you loot the hide on is the character you have to do the quest with. I still have been unable to complete this quest on my dark elf necro. The only known way of raising faction with the quest giver is killing in Crushbone (which will get you KoS in Neriak). More specifically this quest can not be completed by dark elves, other evil races can.

What is preventing you from doing the faction work, to do the quest, and then once it is done, get your faction back up with Neriac?

I am pretty sure it is only warrior guild faction (indigo brotherhood) that is hurt in CB. I used to hunt CB wheni was young, and I can still easily bank in Neriac with my DE mask.

Well I FINALLY finished this quest. Got the Hide at lvl 48 I think.. and just did the turn in at 54.

First .. yes .. go to CB and kill kill kill. Raise your faction up enough to get into Kaladim, and start tuning in belts / pads. I probably had to make about 15-20 trips there will all my inventory being turn in items.

First I noticed that some of the dubious people would talk to me.. but the dubious merchants still wouldn't trade... "Get outta here you Dark Elf" ... Anyhow .. keep at it and the second they turn from dubious to way apprehensive, you should be good...

Go to RM .. hailing the Quest NPC will yield another "I didn't know slime could talk" type of response.. get wolf form .. now hail him. If he talks to you about smithing and later on in conversation his fiance, you are golden... do the turn in and have fun!!!

Funny thing is .. I actuall got enough XP to get about 2 blue bulbs .. haha

How do I raise faction with this guy?
# Sep 22 2002 at 6:22 AM Rating: Decent
I won the Hide for this quest and went to do turn in and found I could not get the quest from the dwarf that gives it. He cons dubious to me, a dark elf necro who worships Inny. If anyone knows how exactly I can get my faction up with this guy it would be appreciated.

A few things people will offer as suggestions that will not work for me:
1.) Wolf form. Already tried it, didn't alter my faction at all.
2.) Crushbone Orcs/Orc Belts. This won't work either. Everytime I kill an orc I get a faction hit on the dark elf warrior guild. I would really prefer to find a way to raise my Kaladim merchant faction without becoming KOS in my hometown.
RE: How do I raise faction with this guy?
# Oct 03 2002 at 10:29 AM Rating: Decent
Well if by some chance your still trying to do this, or any other evil race tries this quest, theres is only one good way to raise Dwarf Merchant faction up.

There is a really lowb quest that yields different pieces of Armour. It is at the following link:
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=639

That is the easiest one to do. Of course inorder to do this quest you would still need to be allowed into the city, so kill some orcs, buy some belts and pads, and your set.

So if merchant faction you seek, then thats the only way I know how to raise it. Belts and pads will not do that for you.

Human Druid (Karana), initally he conned apprehensive and would only say this when hailed:

'Hail, Karam Dragonforge'
Karam Dragonforge says 'I wonder how much I could get for the tongue of a blithering fool..leave before I decide to find out for myself.'

After casting form of the great wolf:

Karam Dragonforge regards you indifferently -- he appears to be quite formidable.

You say, 'Hail, Karam Dragonforge'

yes flame me for saying this but as far as our server goes (torv) loot is handed out by who could use the item the most... meaning a wizard cant roll on that 100% WR bag.. only monks.. etc etc... so seeing that it now has improved dmg 3 i dont see how unless no wizards are there any other class should be allowed this item... wizzy = DD... and thats it.. no DoTs etc everything is DD.. so usein the argument of why monks get this bag i think wizards should get the hide..

It sounds like the people on your server are pretty rigid. I'm glad it's not my server.

Since neither the hide, nor the quest reward are wizard only, I'd say the game writers knew that wizards aren't the only class who would benefit from this cloak.

Just because you think you want the item the most doesn't mean you deserve it more than another.

Just dropped Vox tonight, and she dropped 2 hides. They are just as common as any other piece of loot on Vox's table. She drops 5 items, and each of those items can be anything on her loot table. I've seen her drop 3 paladin books before, or two scales, or in this case, 2 hides.

This is how I did the quest. When I won Vox's Hide I looked into this quest. Then I got a black sapphire and a platinum bar which needs to be enchanted before the combine. Then I got a 60 Enchanter with 250 jewelry skill to combine it.The combine worked and I already had the wedding ring so I got to faction. You should have amiable faction atleast. When I did the faction I was a 51 Human Druid.I turned about 75 Crushbone belts to get to amiable.Use wolf form if possible to get faction up.

After petitioning that this quest was broken for evils and speaking with 2 guides I was connected with a GM. The GM told me that Karam was on Kaladim Merchant Faction and that since i was dubious to the merchants I needed to get my merchant faction up before they could help me. SO... I killed enough orcs in CB to turn in belts.. after turning in 150+ belts and 50+ pads i still conned dubious... so I turned in 200+ runneye gobbie warbeads. Still dubious. So I am now once again waiting for a GM so that I can try and get a little help here. I will post the result as soon as I get one.

Indifferent worked!
# Jul 23 2002 at 12:32 PM Rating: Decent
OK, I did this quest last night using a necklace with a few charges of Alliance. Although wolf form didn't change me from apprehensive, I got it from a Druid anyway, cast Alliance on him and he conned Indifferent and gave me the quest, yay!

This *probably* means that you could have an Enchanter charm him and do the quest. Charming an NPC makes them into a pet which will con Indifferent to all, and since he gives the quest at Indifferent, I'm guessing (hoping?) that this could be one way that KOS races could do it.

Everyone stop saying "use an alt to do the quest." THE WHITE DRAGON HIDE IS NO-DROP! Therefore, the player that won the roll during the raid, will have to turn in the hide. Sure, he will accept the ring and the necklace from the friendly alt. But, he will just insult you when you try to turn in the hide.

Do one of the following:
(1) use a item that casts alliance, and have wolf form on.
(2) have a chanter charm him. Charm should stick ok with tashani, i snared, nuked, and dotted him with my 51 druid (and camped when he was almost dead) cuz he insulted me, hehe.
(3) get your faction with him up to threatening, use wolf form, see if he will talk to you. That's how i completed the quest.

What faction do you need to do this quest? I am dubious to him even with druid wolf form.as I am a DE inny worshipper who won the hide the other night and need a way to do this. Would having him mezzed by a high lvl chanter fix this? What about getting illusioned? Please help me out with this as I know many other necros in my place. Thanks
