You say, 'Hail, Kugaran'

Kugaran says 'Whut yoo want from Kugaran! Unless yoo [Shadowknight] yoo leave me alone.'

You say, 'I am a shadowknight'

Kugaran says 'I don't know if I should trust yoo but I suppose I can let yoo prove yerself. If yoo are [interested] in helping me wit gadaring some tings and [creating yer own armor] yoo let Kugaran know.'

You say, 'I am interested in creating my own armor'

Kugaran says 'Well den I guess we get started. Dere isn't much to tell besides dat yoo will have to go out and collect [various items] fer yer armor materials. First tings first go ahead and take yer assembly kit now, it is in here dat yoo will put da items yoo collect to make yer armor material. Once yoo have da material yoo can use it wit da right mold I gib yoo to make yer armor.'

You say, 'what various items?'

Kugaran says 'Dere are lots of tings yoo will need. Once yoo are ready I can gib yoo da mold fer Dark Basher's [Helms], [Bracers], [Armguards], [Boots], [Greaves], [Gauntlets] and [Breastplates]. When yoo are ready to make a piece yoo tell me which piece you [wish to craft] and I gib yoo da right mold.'

You say, 'I wish to craft the breastplates'

Kugaran says 'To create yer breastplate material yoo will need to combine 1 Lightstone, 1 Pristine Giant Scarab Carapace, 1 Desert Tarantula Chitin, 1 Deathfist Slashed Belt, and 2 Small Bricks of Ore in yer assembly kit. Once yoo have created da proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion yer very own Dark Basher's Breastplate. Return to me for one [final task] I have to ask of yoo after yoo have completed yer breastplate.'

This quest works. South Ro (south end) was the best place for getting most of the drops I found. Greater wisps in Nektulos are madly social and hard (if doing this at a lower level social, without mercs, etc.)... if you can get your lightstone off a lower level wisp I you may want to. Iobn's info is good:

I just created the breastplate, but the items he requested for it were:

1 Lightstone
1 pristine scarab carapace

2 small bricks of ore

The bricks of ore can be vendor purchased from Okun in Grobb.

The rest was easily found in South Ro, except the Lightstone I got off of Giant Wisps in Nektulos Forest.

Combining in my Dark Basers Armor container yeilded the Breastplate material.

Perhaps updated recipe

I concur, the recipe needs to be updated, probably hasnt been so since 2005 when troll went back to Grobb. I have done it with IOBN forementioned list of ingrdients which were also given to me by Kuragan.

Ok - got all the bits, made a breastplate...

AC 12, Str+2, Int+3, Agi+3
Wt 5.0, size:Medium

Got the halfling ribcage and the calcified sternum in Nektolus Forest - ribcage was harder to find for me than the sternum.

Kakum, Troll SK.

Would you please share some info about what dropped these parts and how long you had to camp? Appreciate the stats post but that doesn't help anyone else know how to get it. Been trying for 6 levels now.

I'll confirm the calcified parts dropping off a greater skele's - in fact just got the sternum from a greater skele (after a week of bashin' um)... [EDIT: found this sternum in southeast as well; don't know if it was co-incidence or not - just letting y'know]

Still bashin' halflings looking for der parts tho... Perhaps the quest was meant to ensure rotten faction w/the halfling population (which drops with every 1/2ling kill)...
FYI: as a lvl 14 sk I can solo the 1/2ling camp; esspecially once it has been 'split up'... Have had mixed experiences trying to split it solo tho (can split it about half the time)

Halfling Ribcage eventually dropped from the Leatherfoot Captain at the Leatherfoot camp in Nektolus - the Captain also drops the Halfling Clavicle needed for the 'Final Task'.

Didn't see either of those drop from any of the other Leatherfoots (Leatherfeet?!).

The Captain was a bit awkward - not so tough himself, but the two Sergeants nearby can root and then cast DD (33 dmg per time) and had longer range than I did... also, if you fight too near the other Leatherfoots, the Scouts can heal, prolonging the battle.

Calcified bones drop from Calcified Skeletons (and also Greater Skeleton I think) - I found the Sternum from the skeletons in the far SE corner of Nektolus, not by the spires half-way down the East wall. This may have just been chance though.

Was already lvl 15, just picking up the bits of armour which were better than I had already bought (this is an untwinked slow character, constantly poor!), so for lower levels you really need a group for the Leatherfoots I think.

Took a couple of nights, maybe 4 hours each night, to get the bits - immediately I had one ribcage I got another off the next Captain I killed, so just random chance I guess.

Orc skull was fairly easy from orc camp just south of the spires (east wall), although still took a couple of hours (gave me loads of crude bronze).

Hope this helps with the drops.

Latin, get the breastplate, post its stats here, and then I will believe it can be obtained. Until then, posting dumb things like you did will be ignored. Have you noticed no one has gotten it yet? I don't see the reward...

Never Happy

I swear, we humans (and I mean the Real Life ones) are never ever happy. Make the drop too rare, and you get complaints.

See attached link:
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=2510

Make drops too easy and you get complaints.

No matter what SoE does, we will never be happy. NEVER. It's a fact of life. =)

Sit down in front of your comp, enjoy the game, or ***** about it all day long. Either way, we are all gonna die with no chance of a rezz =)
Oh my Lord

Managed to craft all parts of the dark basher armor except for the breastplate..now everyone is saying the Calcified Sternum is as rare as snow in the Sahara Desert..jeez! I really don't know what Sony/Verant is thinking. I think all their programmers love to do nothing all day long but mindless camping. This reminds me of the hours (fruitless) I spent searching for a Giant King Snake skin for my Bertox cleric. This is ridiculous. The armor isn't really all that great. Sure it's great for a newbie and looks super cool in dark green, but why all the trouble just for one part that never seems to drop? This is really stupid.
