You must complete the Khati Sha Recruit quest prior to starting this one.

Bring the seal to Mahron Sood (diagonally across from the bank in Shar Vahl).

Animist Mahron Sood says, "I can tell by the manner in which you approached me that Poren did not explain what I would require of you, little friend. Your development as a Khati Sha will be demanding. Our expectations of you should only be exceeded by your own. Our namesake, Khati Sha, was an unrivalled hero to our people. The story of his life is an example that you will be expected to learn. You will be expected to research and explore the path that he took and strive to understand what that path means for the future of our people. Take this map to Kery Miann. She will start you on the path."

He will give you a Worn Map of the Area to bring to Kery Miann (upstairs, at loc +294, -348 in Shar Vahl). Give the map to Kery and she will hand you a Small Stone Blade.

Combine the blade and a high quality rockhopper hide in your stitching kit to make some Thin Leather Straps. Trivial is >65 for this portion.

Give two leather straps, and your claws to Kery, and you will be given new claws, and a Folded Note for Rittuh Purrik.

Give the note to Rittuh, found in the Vah Shir outpost in Hollowshade Moor, and she will give you a Rough Leather Backpack, a 6-slot container, and will ask you to fill it with 6 x Young Rockhopper Tail from the rockhoppers in that zone.

You have fashioned the items together to create something new: Bag of Tails.

    Hand this to Rittuh.

Rittuh Purrik says 'Well, look at you! You're quite the hunter. Not a bad job at all, young citizen. We can sure use a few more like you. I think a little padding of your daily report is in order considering the amount of work that you've done for us. Take this back to citizen Miann. She'll be pleased with you. I wrote it up pretty nice for you. Take care and good luck with your training.'
Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl got better.
    You gain experience!!

You receive an Exaggerated Report. Bring this back to Kery.

Kery Miann says 'You have done very well, youth. I hope that you are beginning to understand what it means to walk the path of Khati Sha. Public service is very important. Our namesake is the fundamental figure in the foundation of this society. Our walls are made of the ore that he discovered. His exploration of the lands that surround our home made it possible for us to live here in peace. This leads us to our next lesson. I would like you to seek out the caverns beyond the thicket. A breed of shelled creatures roam the tunnels of those caverns. Occasionally, a strong glow will manifest itself in one of these creatures. Find such a creature and bring me the source of its glow. Wrap the light source in your Khati Sha recruit's cloak and place them both in this box.'
Your faction standing with Khati Sha got better.
    You gain experience!!

You receive a 2-slot Carved Wooden Box. Loot a Glowing Heart Stone from a glowing muck digger in Paludal Caverns and combine it with your Khati Sha Cloak of the Recruit in the box.

You have fashioned the items together to create something new: Box for Kery.

    Give this to Kery.

Kery Miann opens the box and removes your old cloak. She unwraps the orb and looks at it for a moment. 'You have done well, youth.' She says as she picks up what appears to be a new cloak. She hands you the cloak and smiles. 'Your life as a member of our sect may not always be pleasant, but take comfort in the fact that you are performing a great service to your people. Walk the path of the Khati Sha with pride and one day may you see his face as I have. Now, seek out Kaam Rahiir in the libraries. Show him your claws and he will be able to assist you in imbuing them magically. Take care.'
Kery Miann shouts 'Citizens of Shar Vahl, take this time to welcome ______ to the level of Khati Sha Apprentice. We are all in the debt of each and every citizen that works as hard as ______ to improve our city.'
Your faction standing with Khati Sha got better.
    You gain experience!!

Kery will then present you with your Cloak of the Khati Sha Apprentice.

Failed one of the leather strip combines this morning. Tailoring was at 65, and it still said I lacked the skills. (the first one succeeded)

Kery Miann is in same room as Jala and Sele. Upon handing her the map.
Kery Miann sits the map on ground next to her and smiles. "The path of Khati Sha is long. youth. Please try to learn the lesson that each day bestows upon you as quickly as you can. Our fate is making itself clear at alarming rate and I fear that the time to learn is growing short. You must set out to learn the path of Khati Sha with great zeal, youth. Let us start you on that path. We will need to start by reinforcing your current claws. Take this blade and use it in your stitching pack to cut some thin sinew straps from a rockhopper hide of the highest quality. Return to me with two straps and your recruit claws. I will assist you in making a new pair.

    Updated Trivial on Leather Straps

I tried to send a correction in, but the link to do so didn't work, so:

The Trivial listed for making the Leather Straps is incorrect. The walkthrough above shows >41. I just did that part last night and had my skill rise from 54 to 58 doing them.
I lucked out and found a full stack of HQ Rockhopper hides on a vender and snagged them up. At a Tailoring skill of 54 and wearing my 1% mod cloak I made the first strap and saw my skill go up, so I kept making them until I ran out of hides. After 20 combines ( with a failure here and there) my skill ended up at 58 but I never did see a trivial messega on this.

So the Trivial is at least 58 and possibly higher.

Oh God I have no clue why I didn't think of the vendors. I will check them next time I am on. Might save me a few hours if lucky!

    Thank you for the recommendation.
    Young Rockhopper Tails
    # Feb 21 2004 at 2:51 PM Rating: Default
My son and I are stuck on the no drop hopper tail portion of this quest. Only rockhoppers in Hollowshade Moor drop no drop Young Rockhopper Tails. 6 in the bag Rittuh provides do not combine. No one seems to know anything about this and of course the GM's are no help.

Anyones input here would be appreciated.

    For my 32 Beastlord.

    Khati Sha Journeyman ?

Does anybody know what the quest is for the Khati Sha Journeyman Cloak is, who to talk too and what tasks to complete and whatnot. Don't seem to see any information on how to go about this quest. Need to complete this quest in order to advance in other quest.

Kery tells you to bring your claws to Kaam Rahiir in the libraries near the palace, to learn how to upgrade them. Don't forget to have a container slot free again!

Hand him your claws for inspection, and he will return them, and a bag. He will ask you to collect 2 molars off the sonic wolflings (also drop off pups) in Hollowshade Moor.

Combine them in the bag, and bring the result back to Kaam Rahiir, who will give you claw mounts and send you to Qua and Jimis:

Kaam Rahiir says 'Excellent, the spirits have returned you to me with your tail intact! The foe that you encountered was a young creature. Their elders are much less likely to allow your passage. The packs of wolves that roam the moor have proven to be quite a problem for our scouts. I will assist you in learning a method that will allow you to build and assist others in building a weapon that bites at the very spirit of those beasts. Take these claw mounts and use them in conjunction with the tomes that Qua sells. You'll need stretching dowels to treat the lashings. Jhimis usually keeps them behind the counter of his shop. Get a set from him and read through those tomes. Return to me with your new claws and your apprentice's cloak when you have completed the task.

Your faction standing with Khati Sha got better.
    You gain experience!!

Now it is time to make your Sonic Wolf Bane Claws, that require the cooperation of every class of Vah Shir.
(This point is very tricky, because it is very difficult to get in contact with others that “might” be doing this progressive quest!!!)

Find Jhimis and ask him "what about stretching dowels?" He will ask for 2 owlbear claws and your apprentice cloak.

Give him the claws and the cloak, and he will return your cloak, and give you the no drop stretching dowel.

Combine stretching dowel, owlbear tendons, sonic wolf tendons, kelp salts and fish oil soaked rags in any sewing kit to create toughened sinew lashings.

Trivial for the combine is 135 tailoring.

Owlbear tendons drop in Hollowshade Moor off the owlbear cubs and grapplers. Sonic wolf tendons appear to drop off any wandering sonic wolf in Hollowshade Moor. Kelp salts drop off the moor tortoises in Hollowshade Moor. Fish oil soaked rags are dropped off the grimling fisherman (and their chief), also in Hollowshade Moor.

sonic wolf bane weapon - combine in the weapon assembly kit (sold by Arms Historian Qua):

reactive sealant soak, sonic wolf bane poison, toughened sinew lashings, ceramic dagger sleeve*, porous dagger blade*

(*exception: Beastlords, which needs porous claws & ceramic claw sleeve set instead)

Once you create your Sonic Wolf Bane Claws (damage 10, delay 32, +2 vs sonic wolves) you need to bring the weapons to Kaam Rahiir, along with your Apprentice Cloak.
He will give you back the weapons along with your new cloak.

    theese quests are hard
    # Jan 22 2004 at 9:49 AM Rating: Default
At a low lvl i realized that the rewards are not worth the time it takes to do the quests so what i did was i went out and found my own items and lvl'ed. I am now a lvl 41 beast lord doing theese quests so easily so i can do the epic. Im up to the part where i have to mix the HQ hopper hides and the knife together for straps, but i need to get my tailoring up its only lvl 26 =(. But i suggest you wait till you hit a high lvl then fly thru theese quests very fast so you can do the epic (which i hear is pretty easy but im not sure)

At a low lvl i realized that the rewards are not worth the time.

The Cloak quests and claw quests are ok and inticing up and untill the tasks reguired to attain the Journeyman Cloak and the Sonic WolfBane Claws

My Vah Shir Bst Lord is now lvl 29 and was not able to fight the mobs required to get all the drops before now. I had made it a point to try & aquire these weapons and their advancements but already have aquired way superior weapons. What info I could find on the statz of these quest related items & weapons simply proves to me once again that these EQ quests are often a total waste of time and the rewards for the mid level toons are worthless. There are way better ways to lvl and earn plat to purchase way better stuff. Seems like unless you toon is maxed at the OoW highest levels then this game is worthless the quests almost never are worth the items you get and what does faction matter when you toon is so high up you can kill everything in the game alone? I am tired of this and am giving serious consideration to WoW already, EQII at the veryleast but definatly a change from paying for such sad gameing.

The Quest after this for the Cloak of the Khati Sha Journeyman seems to be broken or near impossible to complete.
After searching for an hour to find a Sonic Wolfling or a Sonic Pup I found nothing... I found infomation here about a revamp that broke the quest (info seems old), is this still broken or has it been fixed? (assuming it was really broken)
    RE: Journeyman Cloak?
    # Mar 01 2004 at 7:21 AM Rating: Good
You seeking the molars off the sonic wolflings I assume.

Those dropping from sonic wolflings and pups. There is one regular spot you can hunt them.
If you look on the map from the Hollowshade Moor, draw a virtual line between three points - the left bridge - the right bridge and the zone exit to the Grimling Forest. If you connect those points you will get a triangular shaped area. In this area there are wandering sonics - sonic wolfs, the sonic pups and the sonic wolflings.
All those wandering mobs dropping some special items for different classes for the cloak quests.

Note that each are the placeholders for each other mob. Usually there are only 3-4 mobs in this area at one time.
And a special note at last! The sonics would ONLY wander there when the sonics are in the sonic caves (Hollowshade War)! Otherwise there would be wandering owl bears for example.

I have played all 5 races to be able to get my BST my officiers cloak of sevice.
I think I will have to put all my informations togather, sometime...

Normally i have no problem helping out someone with hits on a good website but there is nothing there so. I would like to learn all of the progressive quests for shar vahl cause i just started a beastlord there and want to get some good gear to free up my monk's stuff again.

Allakhazam seems not to update the quests I gave in... :-/
So, if you want to know ALL progressive Vahr Shir quests go to: http://www.highex.net/eq/vs_quests.html

    The hero mantle is AWESOME!!!

Erf... no hero mantle anymore, but the officiers cloak of service is good, too. :D
