I have done this Quest 3 times know. I managed to get Ronn Castakin to spawn fairly often by killing everything in the northern section of the sewers, except Vinn Molter or the beggars. Vinn is definately not the place holder for Ronn. All three times Ronn has dropped a note for his sister. I got a Water Flask, a Rusty Scimitar, and a Summoned Bandage out the note. If the Quest really does provide the Band of Tunare or the Pine Ring, you couldn't prove it by me.
Before you waste a lot of time on this Quest, I would think twice about it. I have never seen anything posted, or heard of anyone that has gotten the proposed reward for this Quest.

Doing the quest now. I entered the catacombs from the NQ secret entrance in the newbie zone. On maps of QCat's there is an area right inside the entrance I spoke of labeled 'various npc spawn here.' This is where I encountered Ronn Castekin. I encountered him after I killed a Gelatinous Cube that was YTM. I'm level 6. I'm in Surefall now and can't find Miranda. When I do, I'll post my reward.

I killed an undead corpse that dropped a note. I can't remember what the note is now, but is that actually Ron? Should the skeleton be named Ron Castekin. Do I take the note to Miranda?

As an evil cleric i have spent a ton of time in the sewers, i followed Ron Castekin around for a bit, and i noticed that he follows the same path as Vin Molter for the Paw quest. This has lead me to belive they share a spawn. Also, there is at least one other place holder for these two, there is a Gelatinous Cube (note the captil letters). My cleric is only lvl 8, and Cube and Vin both con red, but Ronn is way green, one ward undead an he went down. the best spot i have seen to look for these guys is at the undead knight spawn or near where Bait spawns

There are also Dread Bone Skellies and regular Skellies wandering the area, but I have seen the Dread Bones and Vin wandering at the same time. Whether the skellies or Vin are the placeholder I don't know.

I think it is Vin Moltor, which is STUPID because he's a good guy and rather high level. I've only seen Ronn twice (in the same half hour) in almost two years of playing EQ. All I got for this lousy quest was a few coppers and some water. I wasn't happy about this quest at all.

The stats can be found in the Finger Equipment section: Band is +5 Mana, the Ring is 2AC, +! STA, -10 Fire protection - supposedly.
Only thing is, I've done this quest 3 times, twice with high 'warmly' faction with Merona. All I've ever gotten is a water flask, same reward as when I was a newbie. I think the Ring and Band are a sham.
BTW, Merona is in Surefall Glade, in the Ranger house in the lake; enter, go through the doorway on the right, she's holding a bow.

If you ask Sneed about Ronn, he says that Ronn followed a shady guy into the pond nearby. Use this to get to the Aqueducts. Ronn spawns around this area. He's quick, and his spawn time very random. I've camped him from half an hour to two hours, this of course being after the person I was camp-sharing with got his loot. It's a pretty safe area (for a lvl 18 heehee), but an occasional Dread Skeleton will run up and I'll have to knock him down... so low levelers who decide to camp Ronn, be careful.

On the contrary, I believe it's a quest that is only given early on. Undead Ronn is a easy kill in a relatively safe part of the catacombs. I remember Miranda refusing to give me the quest after level 10 or so. Ronn can be rare--but I found that killing everything I could kill (other than the beggars) brought him up fairly quickly.
