/loc of Corun Finisc?

You say, 'Hail, Corun Finisc'
Corun can be found a short distance west of the Druid's guild hall, or inside of the guildhall, itself.

Corun Finisc says 'Hello. My name is Corun Finisc and I am one of the Jaggedpine Treefolk. It is our divine responsibility to watch over and protect Surefall Glade and its [inhabitants] from those who seek to [destroy] them.'

You say, 'Who are the inhabitants?'

Corun Finisc says 'The bears of Surefall Glade are our brothers. We are all children of [Tunare]. We would gladly die in their defense.'

You say, 'Who is Tunare?'

Corun Finisc says 'Tunare is the Mother of All. It is through Her will that we protect this land and its many creatures.'

You say, 'Who is destroying them?'

Corun Finisc says 'Poachers in seach of bear skins and [gnolls] who attack us unprovoked. We are doing all we can to stop them. May [Tunare] give me the strength needed to smite them dead with my [crook].'

You say, 'What about your crook?'

Corun Finisc says 'My crook? The Jaggedpine crook is an enchanted weapon of the Jaggedpine Treefolk. The [Sabertooths] take great pleasure in destroying the crooks ofany [sic] Treefolk they manage to slay. If you were to recover the pieces of a broken crook, I would gladly mend it for you.'

You say, 'What Sabertooths?'

Corun Finisc says ''The Sabertooths are a vicious band of gnolls who live in Blackburrow, to the east of Surefall Glade. They constantly attack us when we only seek to share this land with them. They also send many patrols out into the Qeynos Hills to the south. We have even seen a Sabertooth skulking about in the caves behind Grizzly Falls. There is a [reward] for his hide.'

This is a Jaggedpine crook staff that is broken in pieces in Qeynos Hills. Only Gnoll Hunters have the parts. The gnoll hunters are very rare and getting the staff pieces is difficult.

You have slain a gnoll hunter!
Your faction standing with Sabertooths of Blackburrow could not possibly get any worse.
Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos got better.
Your faction standing with Silent Fist Clan got better.
Your faction standing with Jaggedpine Treefolk got better. (Need faction hit values for all of these)
Your faction standing with Merchants of Qeynos got better.

If you give one piece of the staff to Corun.

Your faction standing with Jaggedpine Treefolk could not possibly get any better. (Need faction hit value)
Your faction standing with Protectors of the Pine has been adjusted by 2.
Your faction standing with QRG Protected Animals has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Unkempt Druids has been adjusted by -2.
Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos could not possibly get any better. (Need faction hit value)
You gain experience!!

Once you have both the Bottom of Broken Staff and Top of Broken Staff, give them to Corun.

Corun Finisc says 'Excellent! Here is a Jaggedpine Crook of your own. Please use it only to defend yourself and never to attack one of Tunare's creatures. You will find that while wielding the crook, Tunare grants you a boon of strength and the power to smite enemies who would otherwise be impervious to physical attacks.'
Your faction standing with Jaggedpine Treefolk got better. +10
Your faction standing with Protectors of Pine got better. +2
Your faction standing with QRG Protected Animals got better. +1
Your faction standing with Unkempt Druids got worse. -2
Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos got better. +1
You gain experience!!

NOTE: need clarification on the faction hits for the turn in of the staff pieces... do you get two hits (one per half --which is possible with the way the dialogue is stated)?

Finally!!
# Mar 25 2001 at 2:34 AM Rating: Decent
After months of running around the Qeynos Hills and the surrounding area, I finally got the second part of the staff. I got the first part when i was a level 7 ranger and it took me until level 15 to get the other part. The gnoll hunters are a somewhat rarish spawn, with no particular spawn point that I know of(but are frequently seen in the valley to the east of BB). But on top of that rarish spawn, the staff part itself is rare drop as well. Then you have to make sure and get the top half and the bottom half!!! I am glad to have taken this to Corum Finisc and had him fix it into the Jaggedpine Staff, just to say I finally finished the quest, but for the stats on the staff and the time it takes to complete it, it is not a worthwhile quest other than the feeling of completion.

At 9am one Gnoll Hunter spawn just south of the three Gnoll watchman. These would be the Gnoll Watchman on the South side of the Rude peoples Hut not the 3 taht spawn on the Northern Hill side. This happen ever morning for 6 mornings that I was hunting for Gnasher the Gnoll. None drop any thing for me.

I've killed the Gnoll hunter twice now, and no staff part has dropped. Im 45, so I wonder if it is lvl specific? Bah, who knows....I have given up on these Surefall quests anyway. Esp the Gnoll Slayer which I think is just plain crap. No one has yet to show a screenshot, so until they do it is still a myth.

I've killed four gnoll hunters and only got one staff segment.
Worthless
# Nov 07 2000 at 8:48 AM Rating: Default
Estimated time 8 hours? Perhaps if you have a team of 5 people criss-crossing the zone constantly, plus the luck that the hunters spawn more frequently than once per eight hours, plus the luck that they will have a piece of the staff, plus the luck that they will have all the pieces you need, plus the luck that nobody ran into them first. Honestly, who really believes this quest is worth the time when you could be getting an RTS or the money to buy one, or for that matter being somewhere else besides camping in the very boring Qhills.

I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

You are a wierd one....i have, on several occassions sat with a camper and they have never seemed to minded my presence..
Sorry if my spelling is off but its not the purtunent sitchuashun...
I cause a minor flame only because this forum isnt for you to voice an opinion about your personal nuerosis (the fact being that 80 percent of EQ'ers are QUITE honest) , but to inform players of how to find what they are looking for...and if you are looking for peace and quiet then get an Xbox or stay with Offline RPG's .
Enough of this..
Real question...In real time does anyone have an average on what it takes to camp this whole quest...best case vs. worst case?

This staff segment drops from Tallus Holton. It is for a Paladin quest and is no way related to the Jaggedpine Crook.

Hi there, congrats on getting the jaggedpine crook! It isnt much of a fighting weapon, but i have a suspicion it might be used later in a yet to be implemented follow up quest that will also involve the jaggedpine cloak, you know, the one you get when you hand in 3 of them brewer casks to larsk juton. When you get that cloak Juton sais something like "better hold on to it, since you never know if we may alter the enchantments in the future". Now since both the Cloak and the Crook are called "Jagggedpine something", both are ****** items compared to the rarity/difficulty obtaining them, both are Surefall initiated quest items...... I am almost convinced there will come a quest someday where you have to hand in these two items (maybe even more items, like the Pine ring(possible reward for the Ron Castekin quest), and get a HUMONGOUSLY good druid/ranger item..8).

Greetings,
Grove Treesong.

With Verant, "later" means never -- they don't care about fixing broken quests, just getting more people to subscribe. Period.

Agreed. This definately seems like a candidate for a future quest part.. Im 40 now.. guaranteed that I will acquire this one day.. and stash it. Dont have either segment yet.. but track every time im in the zone.. Which is rarely.. ;) Kyl

And hold on to those rusty spears too then. That is what I got from Hager Sureshot when I handed in the master poachers head and guess what he said to me when he gave me that rusty spear. Better hold onto this.... yep that same crap you all said about your other quest.

very annoyed quester.
