On the west shore of the Lake of Ill Omen between the rows of columns that rise out of the lake is an Iksar named Syrik Iceblood. He is indifferent to all. He gives two quests related to Veksar.

    You say, 'Hail, Syrik Iceblood'

Syrik Iceblood says 'Oh, hello. You caught me while I was in thought. Currently I am researching the methodology used in smithing weapons during the age of [Veksar]. If you wish to help, let me know. I will take any [help] available, be it friend or foe to the legions of Cabilis.'

    You say, 'What help?'

Syrik Iceblood says 'We can tell from the weapons that we have taken back from the Bloodgill goblins, that their smithing process must have been very unique for them to remain so sharp after four thousand years of use. Cabilis would like to study the weapons and learn this technique so we can better outfit our troopers. If you will bring me four of the same weapon I will spread your name through our city, and one day you may be able to walk the streets. I am looking for Steel Ch'Ror, Mak'Stor, So'Shar, Ta'Nak, Ga'Nak, and Re'Stek. Until then I will reward you with whatever coin I can get from turning them in for you.'

Turn in four of the same type of weapons.

Syrik Iceblood says 'Excellent work ______. We will study the architecture of these weapons to better the legions of Cabilis. Soon your name will be known among the Iksar.'

All factions are adjusted +20 (see screensnip)

Also, only the player handing in the weapons gets the XP and faction adjust. However, the rest of the group will get XP provided they're at the minimum required level. Had a lvl 2 and a lvl 65 in group with me -- the 65 received XP but no faction, the 2 received neither XP nor faction.

I have found that that I can get faction for turning in just one Steel Weapon if someone before me turned in 3 of the same. Found this out when my War turned in 3 hammers and my cleric turned in 1.

After many hours killing the gob and undead and turning in the steel weapons my guess is that about 30 turn ins (120 steel weaps as 4 at a time. You are no longer KOS to War and Most non SK guards in Iksar city. I have done this faction work on 4 toons and now max out faction with all but Necro faction in city. (Must kill the outcast Iksar for that faction)

Good exp also. with 100% in AA exp about one or so blue bubbles per turn in at about lvel 65. About an average of 10 pp per 4 also.

Note you become Ally to faction guy at lake edge many turn ins before you are not KOS to the other Iksar factions so be warned.

I am a faction ***** and long to have a High Elf in Iksar and Chardok and DE city. Never could get the effort to have OT faction for good races so always went the puppet string method for the over there hammer for my Mele toon (War MONK Rog)

You have to give four of one then four of another. It took me 8 turn ins before I got Faction and coin. At higher levels it's better to be on AAXP I got 3% at 59.

Don't get to carried away with the faction hit, I'm still KOS there.

as long asyou turn in four of the same, it doesn't matter.

handing him 8 Mak'Stor in a row is fine. same with So'Shar, Ta'Nak, and Ga'Nak.

    you don't have to alternate 4 Mak'stor 4 So'Shar etc.

i took my Vah Shir from KOS to warmly w/all factions this quest bumps; never had to alternate to get hits.

I did this with an Erudite SK at level 41 and got nothing. No text, no experience, no faction message or even a "I have no use for this item, you can have it back".

I have a SK level 47, each turn in of 4 weapons I get 1% of normal xp. So I did 8x and got 8% xp.

I think that is very cool. 2 blue bubs for 8 turn ins.

No money, no faction, no exp, no "I have no use for this". NOTHING.

There are two VERY similar Cabilisian style weapons... the Ta'Nak which has a long straight blade, and the Ga'Nak which has a large sharpened point on the end of it...

...in other words... you most likely handed in 4 weapons that weren't EXACTLY the same.

Anyone know if i could give the weapons to and alt, and have him do tunr in for exp. I imagine it would give full lvls to a lvl 10 char? Anyone knwo any reason this wouldnt work?

The quest is level restricted. When my 24 shadowknight asked him 'What help?', he basically told me to buzz off. So now the swords are going to be rusting away in the bank for another 27 levels...

Just tried it with my level 14 Enchanter Alt acutally. When you turn him in he asks where someone as inexperienced as my got those weapons. He then takes them and says he will see they are put in the right hands. You get no exp or faction trying ot do this, and you lose the weapons. Too bad....

hey splunge, aa xp doesnt matter on your level.. it doesnt change.. the exp is the same for filling lvl 51-52 ( as in xp ), it is just easier at higher levels cause ya can fight things that woulda been read if you were at 51 ( which is what aa xp is at )
    RE: hey splunge
    # May 26 2004 at 2:26 PM Rating: Decent
I know this post is old but what the heck...it is wrong :P AA xp moves as if you were level 50...not 51. 51 is a "hell" level and requires much more exp than does 50 or 52...if you are level 51 and you put 50% to AA and kill for a few blues of exp you will see that your AA exp bar has moved more than your normal experience bar. Just FYI for any who care :P
    RE: hey splunge
    # May 27 2004 at 2:16 PM Rating: Default
    <<<Sigh>>>

There are no longer "hell levels". There WERE, they are gone.

What makes level 51 hell-ISH still is this: You don't get experience or you get pathetic amounts of experience for killing things that just at level 50 gave you decent experience. Soloing is nearly impossible for killing the things you need to kill to get experience that matters anymore.
    RE: hey splunge
    # Jan 29 2007 at 9:38 PM Rating: Decent
what makes 51 hellish is that it requires nearly double the experience to fill as 50 did. The supposed "fix" that the devs put in that gives more exp per kill in these levels does not fully offset the experience requirement. They should have just recoded 51 54 59 etc to scale up the same approximate % as the rest that were not hell levels did. The old experience tables used to show it.
nice try devs, but as usual, fell short :p

I went from Apprehensive to Amiable in two turn-ins. While reading this thread, I got to thinking...........
Has anyone hailed him after raising faction to see if MAYBE he gives out new quests now that you have proved yourself?
I am camped right next to him, so I will try this out tonight.
If I jump from app to ami in such a short, can I expect the other faction hits to be increasing by larger leaps too?
    Faction hits
    # Jun 30 2003 at 5:13 AM Rating: Decent
This quest does not raise Brood of Kotiz faction, just the ones listed, so you will not raise faction with the necromancers. These are the same hits as the bone chip quest.

I did this quest with two sets of weapons yesterday - I had four of the hammer type weapons, and two each of two others.

I gave him two of the one type, just to see, and I got nothing. Gave him the remaining two weapons, and got the reward... so it's possible, though not guaranteed the weapons may not need to match - it's also possible the last person had tried what I did with a pair of the last two I handed in and got nothing.
RE: Four may not be required
    # Jun 29 2003 at 10:01 PM Rating: Default
Four are required of a specific kind, MQable of course. Gave 3 of Ga'Nek and got the quest complete and then gave one Mak'Stor and got the quest completed. It's nice to give the swords to him one at a time so you can occasionally leave with extra swords for your next round.

Ive turned in probably 10 sets of weapons.
Id get from 15-20 plat per set and a small aa xp bump at 65. (visible movement, just small)

You could just sell the weapons to a merchant for 5-6p each, but you wouldnt get XP or faction, which is well worth the extra 1-3p per item.

You also get a faction boost to ALL Cabilis factions, including a faction bump to the quest giver, Syrik Iceblood, who is on Syrik Iceblood Faction. (No, im not kidding).

I was indifferent to him, and now im amiable.

I did turn in a LOT of bonechips to Trooper Mozo to try and get my faction up.
Before i turned in the weapons, i was Maxed to Legion of Cabilis (Troopers) at Indifferent (Tunare worshiper).
I was scowling to Crusaders, and am *still* scowling to them. Upon further research, since I worship Tunare, I may *never* be able to get past KOS to the Iksar Shaman. They are far more picky about deity then other Cabilis Factions.(Which is odd because I may be able to get to Indifferent to the Necros (Brood of Kotiz). Youd think Necros would hate a Wood Elf Ranger more than Shaman would.)
    RE: Info
    # Jun 26 2003 at 7:57 AM Rating: Default
If the description above is correct, this quest doesn't raise Brood of Kotiz (the iksar necromancer) faction.

Carry Illusion Iksar potions with you when you need to enter town. That will help you overcome some of the faction problems. You'll only need to overcome your diety faction then rather then your diety and race factions.

I did this quest 5 or 6 times (sorry for not having the exact number) with my enchanter. He was indifferent to start, and ended with Amiable. That's a pretty decent faction hit. I'm not sure if it's the same scale with the Cabilis factions. There are 5 or 6 factions affected on top of the faction for the NPC giving the quest. They look like all Cabilis factions get positive hits. The next time I do this quest, I'll post the results.
    AA at lvl 65

At level 65 after spending the afternon in this place, turning in the weapons got me 1% AA and 15-40pp.

yes, but the real reward is the cabilis faction, which is harder to get now that the survival knife selling merchants are no longer selling those knives.
