The Marsingers are located just north of the Wizard spires in Greater Faydark.
You say, 'Hail, Seana Marsinger' Seana Marsinger says 'Hello, my name is Seana Marsinger. I am here representing my loyalty to the League of Antonican Bards. It matters not to me whether you support the League or loathe it; propaganda is not my objective. Everyone must find their own truths in this life path. So says Quellious. To business then, are you [familiar with the Plane of Hate?]' You say, 'I am familiar with the Plane of Hate.' Seana Marsinger says 'Good, I need someone that has a bit of an eye for how things should look up there. My brother and I have been studying Innoruuk and his intricate dealings for years. Being raised in New Tanaan may lend us certain neutrality towards all people, yet the values our parents have instilled in us do not allow us to let him go unwatched. In fact, I have begun to believe that my paranoia may prove useful not only to the League, but to the Citizens of Tranquility and New Tanaan itself as well. We have received a simple [piece of intelligence] that may conceivably upset the entire balance of the Pantheon and have most dire repercussions here in Norrath.' You say, 'What piece of intelligence?' Seana Marsinger says 'An old friend of our father's in Qeynos, Jusean Evanesque, has been very busy sorting out the information that is coming to him in droves. The first clue came from Kardin Nillic in Gunthak, and then in bits and pieces from many travelers moving through Qeynos. Piracy on the seas has grown, and somehow the Broken Skull Clan has gained power that should have been out of their grasp. Our informants there say that it can only come from Innoruuk. I am afraid that the Plane itself has shifted with this power. I do not believe that we will be able to uncover all that we need [alone] in time to warn people of the dangers.' You say, 'Alone?' Seana Marsinger says 'Our parents are back in Qeynos assisting Jusean with all that needs to be verified and ensuring that the League's network contacts are all still viable. They will need to stay there in case we must get the word out quickly. I do not believe that any of the residents of Tanaan would approve of our little quest, and would view it as biased. Thus we are here alone. Does this type of project [interest] you?' You say, 'Yes.' Seana Marsinger says 'Please speak to my brother, Stefan, for further information. He will be your primary contact for any tasks you perform for us in Innoruuk's realm. The League of Antonican Bards and I commend you for your efforts.' You say, 'Hail, Stefan Marsinger.' Stefan Marsinger says 'Salutations, my name is Stefan Marsinger. My sister Seana and I are here on a mission for the League of Antonican Bards. Are you [interested] in assisting us in our task?' You say, 'I am interested.' Stefan Marsinger takes a moment to size you up. 'You appear to be a practitioner of pure magic, am I correct?' You say, 'You are correct.' Stefan Marsinger says 'I believe it is safest if you study those who have similar interests as yourself. Travel to the Plane of Hate and observe the revenant, the ashenbone drake, and the loathing lich. They seem to be the main practitioners of your art in the least dangerous area. My interaction with these creatures has been mostly at a distance, and I am not as familiar with them as I would like. If you survive long enough to uncover some type of signet that proves you have been studying these creatures, and truly wish to aid with this cause, bring it to me along with some vampire dust and a diamond. I can craft you a protective item and may have some further work for you to do.' The Minor Signet of the Dark Sorcerer drops somewhat randomly in the Plane of Hate. Turn it in along with some Vampire Dust (off revenants in Hate) and a Diamond. Stefan Marsinger inspects the items closely before transforming them into a small glimmering jewel. 'That should help a bit. My studies are coming along rather well, although it is still far too early to decipher what is going on for certain. Do you wish to venture further into the plane and do some more [work] for me?' You gain experience!! You receive 3 platinum from Stefan Marsinger. You receive the Gem of Sorcery. I just completed the first step of this series of quests today and received 8 plat, rather than the 3 listed as a reward. Everything else seemed the same tho
All that is lost, is not Forsaken

I was in hate last night with a couple of friends. We killed about 10 ashenbone drakes and had 2 signets drop. I don't know if that is normal, but the mage and my enchanter were very happy.

The minor signet also drops off tier 2 mobs. We got one off the Hatebone drake that is the PH for the Hatebone BL. That would lead me to believe that probably all the tier 2 caster mobs drop it, but I can't be sure.

This IS MQ'able, but you just have to be doing it to the right guy for the right class. priest and melee go to Seana, and caster and hybrid go to stefan. My level 1 enchanter had a gem of sorcery MQ'd from my 65 mage.
Pretty nice item at level 1 :)

Upon further review....
A priest class cannot MQ it with a caster item. I tried it last night with my shaman holding the NO DROP item for casters and neither NPC would take it. This was 2 minutes after he turned in the Priest item and got his own gem with no problems.
I can only assume the class handing in the NO DROP item must be of the same line of classes as the item was meant for.
Oh, well. It was a good idea.

Shrouds seem to work to "become" a Pure Caster, a Priest or a pure Melee. I don't think there's any "Hybrid" shrouds.
(I tested the Hail with a Monk shrouded as a fairy enchanter - Stefan responds to me as a pure caster). Will try a MQ with one of my caster alts and post the results.

Yeah, my Necro MQ-ed it last night for my level 54 Mage. I'll do my level 13 Chanter next if I get another signet drop :).
Got another signet last night, so the 13 chanter now has the Gem of Sorcery :).

Im sure you have this backwards Anitalynn. Casters and Priest classes use the same NPC. My Enchanter was unable to MQ a Hybrid gem but was able to MQ a Priest gem

I tried to MQ one for a hybrid and me being a necro, it did not work. Stefan told me " I know nothing about spell and combat" or something like that. So it seems that if you want to MQ it, you need to be of the same class type, just like your mage did for your enchanter.

FYI, I was wondering about the Marsinger's faction for Dark Elf Wizards. I'm Agnostic, and they were indifferent to me, so I had no problem turning in the quest items. I don't know if you can do it if you worship Innoruuk.
Ive been hunting in hate for 4-5 days and minor signet of the dark sorceror has only dropped twice. The vampire dust is very common, had at least 10 drop. If the things dont drop diamonds, chances are very good you will get them from unused armor turn ins in PoK.

You can't mq this, Stephan will not accept the seal from a non caster at least.

I had a ranger friend of mine who has the Signet. He tried to had it in to Stefan, but keeps getting it handed back to him with Stefan telling him he's not a pure caster. Is there any way that this can be MQ'ed? If anyone has any info please let me know.

Regarding the location of Seana and Stefan Marsinger. I just completed this quest, but spent about 20 minutes running around GF and Kelethin with a ranger on track to find them. Yes, they are at the wizard spires in GF, but I ran right past them because they look like regular players. One is sitting and one is standing. I can't remember who is which color, but one is in green and one is in brown. I had no problems with the turn in and got the gem.

I had the Signet, my friend had the Diamond and the Dust. I turned in mine (NoDrop) and he did his. No good. I got xp and 4 plat. He got squat. Did I do the MQ attempt correctly? should I have waited until he had his items in trade boxes as well (is that possible?)

I didn't notice at the time, but this is what was in my log...
So the only thing I can gather is that someone handed the wrong items to him (incorrect Signet, but ok Diamond and Dust) and when I handed him the correct Signet..walla. I got the Gem of Sorcery..which does me no good, BUT maybe can be used for MQ for the level 2 gem.

Not sure why but I turned in the items after she asked for them and got the Signet back but lost the vampire dust and diamond so you can fail on this. The only reason I can think of is I short cut the chat as I messed it up typing it in but she seemed to respond ok. Ah well off to get some more dust and a diamond :)

Actually you did the turnin to the wrong mob, notice that the quest dialogue changes from Seana to Stefan. You have to do the handin to Stefan for the caster quest
