Find Gavel the Temperant in Temple of Solusek Ro at /loc +417, +36, +3.

You say, 'Hail, Gavel the Temperant'

Gavel the Temperant says, 'May the fires of Solusek Ro warm your innards! I am Gavel the Temperant. I work with Sister Blaize to forge the most elegant finery for clerics known to man or beast. Because we have no need for material wealth here in the temple, we ask that you retrieve [ingots and icons] from the lost or fallen brothers and sisters of our order. When mixed with some enchanted, [galvanized], [vulcanized], or [magnetized] platinum into an alloy, the items I can forge are splendid indeed!'

You say, 'ingots and icons'

Gavel the Temperant says, 'The ingots and icons are all named after the virtues of the cleric who held them. The virtues I require are those of the [reverent], the [constant], and the [devout].'

You say, 'reverent'

Gavel the Temperant says, 'Regis the Reverent fell in love with a gypsy girl named Lianna Ferasa who lives in the Rathe Mountains. Ask her what has become of him. Bring me the ingot of the Reverent, the icon of the Reverent, and 2 enchanted platinum bars and I will forge them into a reward for you.'

  • Speak to Lianna Ferasa in Rathe Mountains.

She is located at the gypsy camp located near the Lake Rathe zone line.

    You say, 'Hail, Lianna Ferasa'

    You say, 'who is regis'

Lianna Ferasa says, 'Regis was my one true love, but he was [killed] and his soul enslaved by [Zahal the Vile].'

    You say, 'killed'

Lianna Ferasa says, 'He was killed in the northern tree line to the east in North Karana. If you kill Zahal, Regis' body will rise from the place where he died. If my flute is on the body, please bring it to me.'

    You say, 'Zahal the Vile'

Lianna Ferasa says, 'Zahal roams the plains of North Karana. Kill him and you will free my beloved's soul.'

  • Kill Zahal the Vile

Zahal the Vile is a ghoul around level 30 or so who spawns in the NE part of NK. Use sense undead to find him. Spawns at - 1800, 200 (down the hill from the Guard Tower has a spawn time of around 4 hours and has conned blue AND white at lvl 30. Have someone sluaghter the Undead camp at loc -3200, -2100 and use Sense undead to find Zahal

  • Kill Regis the Reverent

Spawns immediately after Zahal dies at 1450, -1560 at the tree line. Find this loc before starting the quest so you can just run to him an slaughter him after Zahal. At this loc you will find a tree on a hill. He spawns in front of it. He is a healer. He is a zombie. You need to kill him and loot his corpse to loot the Ingot of the Reverent and Lianna's Flute.

  • Give Lianna's Flute you looted off Regis the Reverant to Lianna Ferasa.

Lianna Ferasa says, 'Thank you for setting his spirit free. Keep his memory alive with this.'

You receive Icon of the Reverant from Lianna Ferasa.

  • Head back to Temple of Solusek Ro and give Gavel the Temperant the Ingot of the Reverent, Icon of the Reverent and 2 Enchanted Platinum Bar

Gavel the Temperant says, 'Impressive, do you have the rest?'
Gavel the Temperant says, 'Impressive, do you have the rest?'
Gavel the Temperant says, 'Impressive, do you have the rest?'
Gavel the Temperant says, 'Wear this with pride!'

You receive Bracers of the Reverent.

    When you speak to Lianna:

Kill him and you will free my beloved's soul.'

when you give Lianna the flute:

Lianna Ferasa says, 'Thank you for setting his spirit free. Keep his memory alive with this.'

when you turn in the four items at the end:

Gavel the Temperant says, 'Impressive, do you have the rest?'
Gavel the Temperant says, 'Impressive, do you have the rest?'
Gavel the Temperant says, 'Impressive, do you have the rest?'
Gavel the Temperant says, 'Wear this with pride!'

There are no faction hits, not even from the two kills.

The description of the quest needs to be updated a bit to say that you:

    1) Only give the flute to the gypsy woman who gives you the ICON.
    2) bring the Icon , Ingot (which Regis drops), and two enchanted plat bars to Gavel in Temple of Sol Ro for the actual bracer

At level 33 with approximately 700 hp and ac before buffs, and 190 wisdom, Regis was easy enough.

Root him, dot him (I managed to get full damage from the 29 dot before killing him), nuke him. Be out of range for him to hit you, but close enough to run in and use Bash to interrupt him when he starts to cast his heal. My Bash skill is in the 80s and with it I hit to interrupt most times. Remember to reroot as needed.

Regis healed himself two or three times during the fight (I adopted the bash after this happened). All in all, I ended the fight with a bubble of mana and somewhere between 3 and 4 bubbles of health. I am twinked, but I figure with these tactics from the start (again do NOT let him heal himself! Stun or bash! I wasted alot of mana having to re-damage him, as it were) it should be no problem for someone who isn't twinked to defeat him.

Of course, if you're level 34 with Expel Undead, this should be a piece of cake.

From the Lake Rathetear zone, Lianna is in the gypsy camp to the Northeast. It's number 4 on this map: http://eqatlas.com/rathemtnsmap.html

    Good luck, have fun.

went on this quest the other day and got to regis and when i tagged him there were two of him..... one healing the other quite a suprise indeed but alas they both fell to us and off we went to get 2 bracers for our cleric..

You think two is suprizing?? I just had 8 on track. I thought it must be a mistake so I ran over and sure enuf there were 8 of them standing there. at lvl 53 w/o any buffs and no spells prepared they did some damage and would heal themselves. eventually i rooted each one and got them seperated or trained them to the guards to see how they would match up. guards beat two but not easily. Three on two guards=Regis wins.
    This is a good quest?

How can this be a good quest if you have to BUY the 2 bars of ench platinum?!? Over 200 PP. Sorry, but if you're in your early 30's and you got over 200 plat to spare, either you never paid for a spell in your toon's life, are regularly apart of a guild that takes your toon on cash runs and PL'ing raids and never spent one red copper piece on any trade skills.

I just Killed both of them and I waited a hr for Zahal to spawn. He spawned on the northern treeline of the zone. And Regis was due east from him when Zahal died. I spent the time clearing out the dead camp by the druid rings. Dont know if that helped but what the heck. :-)

If you want to take this guy solo (and you are not a twink), then I HIGHLY recommend:

    1) Be KEI'ed
    2) Use your Lvl 29 Undead DOT spell
    3) Use your Lvl 24 Undead DD spell
    4) Use your Fear Undead spell

Do not attempt this before level 29 (without your dot spell) as his self-healing is a pain.

If you want this sooner than lvl 29. . .get a Druid buddy to help you out using their DOT spell lineup.

Found that Regis was up using Sense the Dead by the gypsy camp. Conned yellow to my 25 cleric, figured what the heck. Buffed myself with all the Endures and AC/HP buffs I had. Pulled and nuked with Dismiss Undead, used Spook the Dead to get him off me. Finished the fight easily with 1 bub of mana and 4 bubs of life.

    Zahal and Regis
    # Jun 15 2002 at 5:22 AM Rating: Decent
Just did this quest for my cleric alt and most of the info is right on this forum. Zahal is not a triggered spawn like someone is saying...he is on a 4 hour timer. Regis on the other hand spawns right after Zahal is killed.

I ported into NK and Zahal was not up but Regis was, rooted and nuked til dead. He does heal himself, but after 2 heals he was oom and I just nuked him to death. I camped Zahal's spawn point for 4 hours, killing the undead camp near the druid circle as soon as it spawned to try and get Zahal to pop faster like it said here to no avail. But as soon as 4 hours was up, Zahal pops. So he is on a 4 timer.....best bet if you're looking for 2 bracers is to get the items off of Regis, finish the first bracer, then port back right before the 4 hours is up.

    Hope this helps.....
    RE: Zahal and Regis
    # Oct 02 2002 at 7:10 PM Rating: Default
Zahal is NOT on a 4 hour timer. He is a triggered spawn. You trigger him by wiping out the undead ruins close to the water, if it is a mixed spawn of skellies and zombies, it won't work. Wipe out the ruins until all skellies pop there, kill all the skellies, and Zahal will spawn.

    # Jan 31 2003 at 10:26 AM Rating: Default
While it may be true that Zahal can be triggered by killing all the skellies at the undead camp I believe he is also on a timer.

Many times I've wandered through NK and found Zahal or Regis up and no one hunting them. If, in fact, it is ONLY a triggered spawn then these MOBs wouldn't be there unless someone was working the camps.

    # Jul 05 2002 at 1:10 AM Rating: Decent
I was running through NK when I saw Zahal was up on track, I immediatly began running torwards Regis's loc and after a previously failed encounter with a lv30 druid I felt I was ready for him at lv34.

My first encounter I ran out of mana trying to nuke him down cause he was healing himself quite a bit. I probably could have found someone to help me kill him given enough time however the Fangbreakers came by and got him about 10mins after the start of the battle.

My second and more succesful time I found him I tryed root/dot, fearing of running out o mana again and losing him.

Trying this tactic he never let himself get below 20% health before he cast a heal. I eventually did go oom however found a lv43 ranger on track and gave him a tell asking for him to come help, Regis was at about 25% health and rooted when the ranger arrived.

I had about 2 nukes or a heal in me when the ranger engaged; and Regis once again tried to heal himself at about 20% health, however the ranger bashed him to interrupt his spell and I layed a couple of nukes on him to drop him.

This guy although blue at 30 is tough to solo with a caster cause his damned healing, and he has a seemingly endless supply (if not endless) of mana.

If you are a druid I would try root/dotting him till he get near about 20%, then lay your hardest nukes into as fast as possible and hopefully you will drop him quickly enough. Or maybe try to use a wind spell to interrupt him when he starts casting.

He never casted anything but healing on himself and a dispell magic (which took off wolfform and made me angry) on me.

I have yet to try him with my cleric.

You are quite correct, Rangers do not get the bash skill. However as a 52nd season Ranger I presume you DO have your 1HB skill maxed and know that a well placed club in the face will in fact interrupt a caster :)

I got on just after the 5/8/02 patch and zoned into NK. Killed Zahal just east of the EK zone line and then I saw Regis on track. He was lt blue to my 40 druid. I Root/snare/dotted him and sat down a ways back to med. he was just over half when this little dwarf NPC came running up and yelling about how he was gonna kill Regis.
So I nuked Regis to death and the dwarf just stood there staring at me then the rest of the "scooby gang" werewolf hunters showed up.
Moral of the story: if you're looking for Regis and you kill Zahal, you better get to him quick or you might not get a chance.

Anyone that has done this quest can you clarify for me that you just turn in 2 bars of enc plat to Gaval the Temperant, or do you have to turn them into another npc (and if so which one) to get a special kind of plat like you have to do with the other related quested pieces.

    easy kill
    # Apr 23 2002 at 12:01 AM Rating: Decent
This guy was a pretty easy kill for my paladin when he was 31. I was running through when i used sense the dead and got this regis guy on. he conned dark blue, and he was named, so i gave it a shot. I went over and started beating on him. I had him down to 1/4th life and he cast greater heal on himself, putting him to above half. I rooted him and healed myself, then went back to fighting him. He is really quite easy to kill, just either stun him or ward undead him when he tries to cast a spell. Better yet, just use a mix of the luclin stuns and undead nukes and he wont have a chance to do sh*t. He went down, me at 2/3 life, and I looted the ingot and the flute. I have yet to complete the quest though.

While looking for griffennes to do the Lambent Bracer quest, me and my druid friend saw Regis on track. He was blue to us so we figured we'd check him out. He aggro'd on us. We were both lvl 30 and he almost wiped us out. He hits hard (least when you're a bard with only 730hp) for around 50 to 60 tops. He heals himself a lot. If you can survive long enough for him to run out of mana it's not too hard. Hit him fast and hard and hit with mana drain right away if you have it. Ironic that a zombie can be a healer.

that Lvl guess is WAY off !
found them this afternoon and both of em conned Red to me at 24 ! took a 38 ranger buddy a LOT of work to kill Regis (he heals about 4 times for 200+ hp). Took Zahal easy enough though, think he lost about 1 1/2 bubs health on him
oh and the Undead at the south east shrine are the PHs for Zahal cos he wasnt OT when i got to the zone but he showed right after i cleared that shrine hope that helps

Last night I decided to attempt this quest, I got a port from WC to NK. Once at druid ring, I cast sense the dead and low and behold who should be up. No other than Regis the Reverent, I ran to where he was and coned him. He was DB to me at 36, so I did a who for a druid. I found a level 29 ask for his help, (glad I did) he was healing his self pretty fast. Took us about a min to kill him, but I got the goods. 1 bracer down, 1 to go.
    Regis spawn
    # Mar 30 2002 at 9:05 PM Rating: Default
I don't think Regis always spawns immediately after Zahal is killed.

I killed Zahal close to the chain bridge. He left me with 75 hps. Ouch.

After that I medded and healed myself and then looked for Regis.

    Nothing.

After 30 min, the ghoul never showed up, so either something killed him while I was medding or he despawned or hadn't spawned yet.

I applaud any evil doer that pulls this one off.

With Zahal spawning near a druid ring and that damn 50+ treant Xanu-whatever near where Regis is supposed to spawn, you're in for a nasty treat.

I spent sometime wandering around the tower and Zahal never showed up.

Then I tried the north part of the zone where Regis was supposed to be and nearly got killed twice by that stupid treant.

4 hours for a spawn that never shows up????

    Sorry, I have a life.
