You say, 'Hail, Charayan the Crusader'

Charayan the Crusader says 'You stand before Charayan, Crusader of Veeshan. I am the talon that justly strikes down our enemies and shall fulfill our destiny in the trials of blood and vengeance. I sense that the loyalty you bear toward the children of scale is strong but the siren voice that has called you to us is still a whisper upon your mind, and it is a song of curiosity and greed that fuels you yet. Since the dawn of your creation, all of your kind has proven that without tangible reward to do otherwise, your blades would be aimed for our hearts. But do not think we fault you for merely this -- such shallow lusts have become a definition of your kind, and we do not bear you ill will for it. However, the [champions] are not as the others of Veeshan's brood and your past deeds shall [not bear fruitful] in your dealings with us.'

You say, 'Why won't they bear fruitful?'

Charayan the Crusader lifts her chin upward and slightly opens her great maw in release of a gentle roar that does not obstruct the continuing voice in your thoughts, 'Although you have persevered through much to prove yourself thus far to the Claws of Veeshan, your intentions have never wavered from lustful greed and selfish desires for wealth. Despite your past actions, having proven beneficial to us in some cause, your recent endeavors that have released Kerafyrm have shown the true hollow of your wasting existing. This does not mean that we have dismissed those of you whom would wish to continue their allegiance to the Claws of Veeshan. It is time for the tides to shift and for your shallow lusts to become discarded for a more [meaningful cause].'

You say, 'What meaningful cause?'

Charayan the Crusader says 'Kerafyrm has been unleashed upon this world. His presence is known only by his infamy and the arrogant glory that your kind has achieved within your meaningless world by committing this deed. This as much as a blessing can be earned and recognized in these times. Kerafyrm is weakened by the lingering effects of the warder's enchantments and his sudden retreat indicates that he is attempting to manifest the rest of his strength and power. When this will happen, we cannot predict, but we do know that when Kerafyrm's restoration dawns, all of Norrath will be subject to his malignant claws and venomous bite. This is not the precognition of a simple priest, -- this is a uniform understanding of what will come to pass. Even your childish gods of jealousy shall not be able to prevent Kerafyrm's full return. It does not matter whether or not [you accept this truth], for in the end that is currently set before us, you shall perish despite what your heart, mind, or faith chooses to regard as truth unto you.'

You say, 'I accept this truth.'

Charayan the Crusader makes a graceful, striding movement with her neck in observance of you, 'Then you realize the pettiness of your existence, but you desire to be more. There is little that can be done to change the purpose of your kind in comparison to the magnitude that the influence of Veeshan's brood does and always will hold to the fate of this world, be it within or beyond our control, but your kind exists parallel to us despite how much or little we regard it. If you embrace this truth, then you must be [driven by a desire to avert from this course of absolute destruction]. This is where the Crusaders call upon you, the second generation whose loyalty lies within the scales of Veeshan's brood, to walk the footsteps of your gluttonous, lustful kind although do so with a heart driven by tamed fear of what lurks so dangerously close about you.'

You say, 'I am driven by a desire to avert from this course of absolute destruction.'

Charayan the Crusader says 'I care not for your motivations behind this reasoning, for they affect only your kind -- it is your actions that shall bear us impact. As there were four warders, there were four apprentices whom have ascended to become Crusaders. Each of us bear an individual duty that when conjoined together form the unity of an unbreakable circle. I, Charayan, am talon of our order -- I shall orchestrate and execute the final battles that will decide the balance of our uniform fates. Grendish bears the mastery of tactical precision and the calm of mindful reasoning. Jortreva is our retainer of whispers upon the shadows and the cunning needed to identify and track our adversaries. Finally, there is Susarrak, the embodiment of the power encased within the mind and heart. Each of us demand [aid] from those second generation whose deeds and spirit follow in parallel, for only those adepts that mirror our duties can lend the untainted support that we are in dire need of.'

You say, 'I will aid you.'

Charayan the Crusader arches her neck in an almost callous study of you, the voice in your mind silenced for but a moment as an uneasy feeling washes over you, as if judgment has just been passed. Suddenly, the melodic whisper of dominion flows through your thoughts once more, 'If you are a soldier of your people, be you knight of either darkness or valor, or be you a minstrel -- you shall aid me. Otherwise, seek out one of the other Crusaders whose duties would identify with your purpose within your world. It is of the utmost importance that you do not stray from this decree for to do so would be to waste precious time which is neither a luxury nor ally at our disposal. If you are of the appropriate necessity to aid me, then you must [venture into the tomb] that had so recently held Kerafyrm.'

You say, 'I will venture into the tomb.'

Charayan the Crusader gives a gentle roar that rings almost as approval before the unwavering voice continues, 'Much has changed since Kerafyrm lay in dormant slumber -- the return of the Ancients has ushered the return of Kerafyrm's faithful minions. These creatures, many of whom mimic the former inhabitants and guardians of the tomb, are beings of pure untamed hatred and will strike you without hesitation or consideration. When Kerafyrm was awakened and the ancients descended, these creatures were summoned or created through the very essence and power of these phenomenal nemeses. Only one of your magically woven essence can properly extract and handle the [components] that I seek, and if you are of the mind to return the aid that the Claws of Veeshan have bestowed upon you, then your efforts shall not go without just consideration.'

You say, 'What components?'

Charayan the Crusader says 'Within the tomb resides a creature known as the Forbidding Gargoyle. Its origins are not entirely clear to us, but we do know that it is a being of pure corruption and hatred that is fueled by the consciousness and presence of Kerafyrm and the Ancients. The construct contains a stone that binds it to the primal world. This stone may be recovered only by one whose essence is touched with the remnants of battle. Find this creature within the tomb and recover the stone if you are able, but do not return to me immediately upon succeeding in this one simple duty. There is an [additional item] that you must procure -- one that, as the stone of the Forbidding Gargoyle, will help the Crusaders better understand the near unfathomable darkness that threatens us.'

You say, 'What additional item?'

Charayan the Crusader says 'Among the constructs and corporeal beings loyal to Kerafyrm and the ancients, those whom are closest to the Ancients in creation and being reside. These creatures of pure consciousness, will, and malignance are known as the scorn spectres -- beings conjured by Kildrukaun's essence, and thus share with him his spiritual impression. Seek out these scorn spectres and reave from them their essence, should you find yourself alert enough to capture such remnants before they fade back to the cosmos that had borne them. Once and if you are successful in these two tasks, you shall return to me and present the items demanded of you if you wish the Crusaders to regard those of your kind loyal to the Claws of Veeshan worthy of our consideration.'

Obtain a Corrupt Forbidding Stone from the Forbidding Gargoyle and Scorn Spectral Essence from (what?). Hand them in.

Charayan the Crusader says 'You have done well ______, and Susarrak of the Crusaders is pleased by your success and honorable actions in binding yourself to this duty. The Crusaders of Veeshan recognize your efforts and we shall honor our word of just recognition to be delivered in effect of your deeds. These are the Gauntlets of the Ages, an ancient item forged by the scales of our chromatic elders of the first brood during the elder years of the Age of Scale. It shall serve you well and will act as the token of the Crusader's acknowledgement of your individual efforts to aid us.'
