When Part 1 has been completed, Yegek may ask if you are ready for the [second test]. If you say you are, he will request your starting No Drop shortsword (you DID keep it, right?). Give it to him, and a Teir'Dal Coward appears in the arena. You have to fight this NPC to complete Quest #2. Note that Yegek says you must do it without a blade, but you can use a weapon. He is hard to kill, but can be done by levels 4 and above. The easier way is to enlist the help of a high level player and let him kill him and then you can loot him and get his head.

You say, 'I am ready for the second test!'

Yegek B`Larin says 'You will now learn what happens to those undesirables who once called themselves Indigo. But first, you will hand me your sword which was given to you by the Indigo Brotherhood. This battle must be fought without a blade. Show us your strength!'

Give Yegek B`Larin your Short Sword* (no drop)

Yegek B`Larin says 'Those young warriors who dared to run from battle are now our fodder. They shall help us teach you that sometimes you must kill your own kind. In the center of the arena we have set a coward. Show me you can kill your own when required and bring me his head. Do not grant him mercy nor allow him to flee.'

Teir'Dal Coward will then spawn in the center of the arena. Proceed to kill him and loot a Teir'Dal Head.

Give Yegek B`Larin the Teir'Dal Head

Yegek B`Larin says 'You have performed greatly. A coward deserves no pity or mercy. You will be a fine addition to our house. Let us replace your weapon with this, a sullied two handed sword! The weapon of a young brother of this hall. It is a finer weapon than your first. Go and spread the hate of Innoruuk.'
Your faction standing with Indigo Brotherhood has been adjusted by 15.
Your faction standing with Emerald Warriors has been adjusted by -2.
Your faction standing with Steel Warriors has been adjusted by -1.
Your faction standing with Primordial Malice has been adjusted by -30.

I have no idea if this would work but it makes sence that it might. I lost my sword once and never thought of it, Why don't you just get a friend(or maybe you can do it) to make a mule and give the guy the short sword, so the coward appears, then you can kill it with your main guy, and loot the head. Or just have a freind do most of the damage, and you loot the head.

Good Luck all.

Once you give in your NO DROP short sword, you test starts. If you die, oh well. Its a one time shot. There is nothing you can do, since you gave in your NO DROP short sword unless you start another character. To answer the last post, no one can give you there NO DROP short sword anyway because it is NO DROP! Newbie quests mosty start at the lvl 5 mark, so it is no surprise to me if the lvl posted on this quest is wrong. I have found out that the lvls on quests posted on this site is more of a 'area of lvl' than the lvl you actually need to be.

He killed me so easily, he had 95% of is health!!! Now, I can't do this quest again without the sword! I wanted to warn all of the warriors who try this quest, BE PREPARED!!! BE VERY PREPARED!!!

The morle of this post... BE VERY, VERY, VERY
Prepared for this fight, for you have ONLY 1 CHANCE.(Unless you find someone dumb enough to give you their No Drop Short Sword).(Trust me, I tried)

I tried this quest when I was level 4. With a splitpaw tunic and mammoth hide leggings for armor (a gift from kind strangers...no I'm not twinked) and a tarnished scimitar as a weapon, I got my *** summarily waxed. It wasn't even close, the Coward was a little over half his health left when I died, and he conned black at level 4. Worse yet, when you die at level 4 you DON'T get your no drop gear back...kiss your Sullied Sword goodbye. Fortunately I have a few friends, one of whom made a mule and gave him the no drop to spawn the coward again. At level 5, with the same gear and the mule helping with a punch for 1 point every now and then I beat this Coward and earned my Sullied. Not great stats but about the same as bronze (actually pretty good for the level) and it looks killer! Don't see many of these around in the game. I'd seriously wait until you are level 5 minimum with a full set of patchwork before attempting this, maybe even wait until 6 to be sure.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 12 2000 at 3:26 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

Copy/pasting your own personal note to the world in every topic you can get your hands on, regardless of the purpose of the original quest or item being discussed, is quite inconsiderate.

Nice looking weapon

I waited till I was 5th level before attempting this quest. A lot of it will depend on what armour and weapon you are using. Even at 5th, it was a close fight for me in PW armour and using a rusty scimitar. The coward can hit for 10 pts at times, but usually it's more in the 1-3pt range. The sword itself is nothing spectular stats-wise, but looks pretty sharp and it beats the heck out of a rusty weapon. =)
Somewhat easy
# Jul 24 2000 at 11:46 AM Rating: Default
This is a fairly easy task, as the traitor hits very very lightly but has a ton of hp. If you loot some rusty sword off, say, a decaying skeleton, then you'll be fine. This is an easy way to get a two-handed sword and build up your skill until you get something better.
