Go to the Gulf of Gunthak. The NPC you're looking for is Millius Darkwater, and he's on the left side of the lighthouse from the direction you zone in. He's standing on the edge of the platform looking out over the water.

Your Location is 1324.49, -100.93, 3.13

Millius Darkwater regards you indifferently -- what would you like your tombstone to say?

You say, 'Hail, Millius Darkwater'

Millius Darkwater lifts his sword out of the water at his feet and scans his eyes across you. 'Hello, ______. The waters stir angrily today. Prexus is not pleased at the tarnishing of his waters by the spawn of Innoruuk. The Deepwater Knights have been trying to locate this [place] for many years.'

You say, 'What place?'

Millius Darkwater says 'The legends of Broken Skull Rock have been whispered for years. Indeed several of our greatest vessels were lost while in search of this island. Many of our [knights] died trying to cleanse Prexus' waters of this great Evil.'

You say, 'What knights?'

Millius Darkwater says 'Most recently a Cavalier named Chester Steelblade went in search of the legend. He was gone at sea for months before we received word from him. The letter we received spoke of a map that he'd found as well as a somewhat cryptic reference to having found the [key] to Broken Skull Rock. One of our [clerics] took a small group out in search of him, but we have received no news from either group.'

You say, 'What key?'

Millius Darkwater says 'Chester was not very clear as to what he found, some sort of black stone skull from what was in his writings.. We're sure that he must have found something that led him here. We have found no sign of him or his crew yet. Truthfully it would be a miracle if he were still alive. I follow his path in hopes that I can continue his work where he left off. If he is dead then his spirit may yet linger here. Tied to this world by his unfinished task.'

You say, 'What clerics?'

Millius Darkwater says 'The cleric that went in search of Chester's crew is called Alina Crystalia and she was barely more than a student when she left. We didn't want to let her go, but ultimately we had little say in the matter. She was always very fond of Chester. She may have in fact found him, although I suspect too late to save either of them. Clerics of Prexus are required to carry with them a Deepwater Emblem to identify them, if nothing else I hope to find Alinia's emblem to return it to Erudin.'

Now you have to get "A Deepwater Emblem," which appears to drop off of random mobs in Dulak and Gunthak. It looks like a silver ring with a large black stone in it. I got mine on one of the docks in Dulak harbor, seem to be more common of the Crew of the ships in Dulak. I heard someone in ooc get theirs at the fort in Gunthak. The drop comes down to luck. I got mine in about 15 min, some people camp for 2 days. Once you have the emblem, take it back to Millius.

Millius Darkwater bows his head quietly as his eyes bring recognition to his mind. 'Alina at least has met a bitter end. Her spirit surely lingers nearby. Find her and free her from her burden, ______. Her quest goes unfinished.
You gain party experience!!

He gives you back "Alina's Emblem," which looks the same as the old emblem. Now go to the beach south of the lighthouse and kill undead until the female version of "an erudite spirit" spawns. The male version is for one of the pally quests. I found her at loc (neg 855, neg 670) after killing several "a savage skeletal sailor." I heard someone else say they'd seen her on the eastern side of the beach and also mentioned the savage skeletons being her PH, respawn time at 16 minutes. So, if you run around killing the savage skeletons, she should pop for you.

On the beach with the wrecked ships in Gulf of Gunthak (approx. neg840, neg675) an erudite spirit spawns. Cons Indifferent to all.

Turn in Alina's Emblem to the spirit.

You gain experience!!
an erudite spirit is surrounded by a warm glow as the ring touches her ethereal form. Her lips curl into a smile as she begins to fade away into the mist. You hear something fall to the ground. You notice a wet scroll half buried in the sand. You reach down and pick it up.
You gain party experience!!
You have received Spell: Temperance.

Spawning the Spirit
# Dec 09 2003 at 12:06 PM Rating: Default
I've read through the posts to the bottom of hte page and did not see this mentioned.

I did this quest many months ago for my cleric. I don't know if things have changed, but I doubt it.

To get the spirit to spawn you need to kill the PH then go into the water underneath the and kill the skelly (maybe two there) that are underneath the capsized boat.

I did this twice and she popped in less than 20 minutes.

Hey...whatever works for you.

The question is - what does it hurt?

You can either follow my advice and hope it helps or just sit there on the beach staring at the spawn hoping it pops.

Sorry, just not true. You only have to kill the PH-- the underwater spawn has nothing to do with it. It was just a coincidence she popped that time for ya.

I disagree, I have done this method several times and she normally pops on the next cycle. Haveing helped several clerics, this has been the key every time.

I've done this quest about 6 times now and have done both methods. Truth is I haven't been able to tell that killing the skelly makes any difference at all. Most people that are doing this are so bored by the 4th or 5th spawn that they start killing the skelly any way to burn time.

But it seems to have no effect on the actual spawning of the female erudite spirit.

Very easy and fun quest in my opinion. As a 45 level Cleric I grouped with a 63 Warrior and 54 Shamn. We levitated, SOWed and started to fight our way through the zones to the Harbor went to the second boat. Killed the second gnome nad got the drop, Shammy invised me and I ran for turn in at the tower while the other two fought at the beach to spawn the Erudite. She spawned before I was done, made the run to her and did turn in, got spell (on cursor not on ground). Memmed the spell immediately and cast on group. Logged onto friends Cleric and we ran back to Harbor, killed the two gnomes again on docks but nothing, killed another on boat and there it was. Ran back for turn in, but we had to clear beach and wait a few minutes before Erudite spawned, but when she did I made turn in and got the second spell in less than 2 hours.
Also, nothing I ran into saw thru invis. When my invis dropped near beach I continued to swim towards Tower which Millius will not help. I heard the drop at harbor can be from anything so good luck to everyone.

I just finished this quest. and here is what I did

Greetings,

I just got the spell last night and here's what I found. Hope it helps.

For the Deepwater Emblem:
Go for the mobs on the first ship Stormwave (something like that) in Dulak's Harbor. Two of them dropped in a single clearing of the boat. A group of us tried the third boat before and not one dropped in an hour and a half. Several other accounts say the first boat drops more, and for me this was true. So, if your going to fight for the ring and not beg, try the first boat in Dulak's Harbor.

For the Spirit Turn-in:
Actually, I dont have much to offer as she was up when I was ready to do the turn-in. Go to the loc -912, -737, she was only a few feet towards the beach from this location. She was the spawn beside the boat.

Hope this helps, and good luck to my fellow clerics attempting this quest!!

Did the entire quest in 2 hours. It wasn's all that hard. Getting the emblam was really easy, all I did was say donating to loot a deepwater emblam. Then I took the emblam back to Millius. He then gave me a Alina's emblam. I then went to the loc -912, -737 with 3 mid 50s and killed a bunch of savage skeletons. After about 1 hour of doing this the female Erudite poped. I handed her the Alina's emblam and got the Temperance Spell.

Well I read through this and the posts. I am 43 1 yellow from 44 so what I did was get a gate to Stonebrunt and asked for an invise then went to the Gulf of Gunthak. There in the light house you can buy cloudy potians (invise) for about 12PP/per.

I then went to the Dulak harbor and did an ooc for a group and also to loot the Deepwater Emblem.
I waited for aproxmenty 1/2 hour befor I had to log for work. when I got back I loged on and did an ooc again and some one said to come to boat 1 I had 3 min to loot one. right after I looted it there was one on boat 2. I then turned it in and went to where the spirit spawnd on the beach. There was a group there camping it and she said that she had been camping it for a couple day. in about 20 min. she spawned for them so the cleric got the spell. I camped for about an hour (3 spawns 20 min. each) then I went to bed. I then loged back in and killed the PH with my necro and was just killing skellys for bonechips and after the 20 min the sperit spawned so I loged onto my cleric and got the spell. This was on drinal server that this happend.

I am a lvl 41 Cleric on The Tribunal. After 3 days of camping boat #3 I finally got the Deepwater Emblem. My question is: Can I finish the quest at lvl 41 or do I have to wait until I am lvl 44?

My Experience
# Sep 24 2003 at 1:04 PM Rating: Excellent
Just figured I'd add my experience to the mix...

The first night I tried to do this quest, a level 64 ranger friend of mine entered Dulak's Harbor and camped a boat along with the dock for four hours...no luck. I camped at the zone.

The next night I /ooc'd that I'd donate to loot the Deepwater Emblem and that I was also looking for a group until one dropped. Luckily, there was a group looking for more. As we made our way cautiously down to the docks, I received a tell from a 55 beastlord camping a different boat (sorry I can't remember names, but I don't think it matters) that a deck hand had dropped the emblem. After he graciously declined my donation, I gave him some buffs and gated back to the lighthouse.

The second half of the quest was just as everyone has stated. There was a savage skeletal sailor next to a some boat wreckage at -840, -675. I killed it, without killing anything else, and the next spawn was the female erudite spirit. I guess I got lucky.

Godspeed and good luck if you need to do this quest!

Peace,

I camped this with my girlfriend cleric all night long. Placeholder after place holder for about 12 hours. She finally pops, my girlfriend gets her spell. She depops and spawns again after the 20 minute cycle.

Are any of the other cleric friends she made while camping online for this? No!
My try at it
# Sep 16 2003 at 12:48 PM Rating: Decent
Well the part that hung me up was the Erudite as well. 7 hours, no spawn. The next time I tried I was in my 2nd hour and after having killed various undead with no luck I decided to kill every savage skelli on the beach (including the one underwater in the wreck). After killing the PH I killed every savage skelli and skipped everything else. Since the spawn is on 20 minute timer it wasn't too bad getting them all killed. Next pop was the erudite. May have been luck, may have been killing the savage undead saliors.

Got Emblem in Dulak on one of the boats. Definately need a good group for there. Spirit spawned right at -875, -675 as they say. BUt no certain time invloved, just killed a lot of skellie till she popped about 2 hours at beach.

Helping another character and we have waited about 3.5 hours now... still waiting lol
Underwater for spawn for ring?
# Sep 04 2003 at 7:09 PM Rating: Decent
Stupid question...but I'm sorry to ask. I loved Gulf of Gunthak's quest for ranger's DOT. However, I have a cleric now (I like playing it more than my ranger) and I see this quest sends me to -850,-670. Is this on a boat so I don't have to swim and cast or melee with a warrior friend? Or is this spawn character underwater? I have no confidence being underwater because I have died in the past running from the beach to the lighthouse and it's heck finding my body. Please advise. Thanks
RE: Underwater for spawn for ring?
# Nov 04 2003 at 10:02 PM Rating: Decent
The location is on the beach, sort of in the middle. The savage skellie spawns right next to the wreck of a boat, and it's far enough away from other static spawns that you can sit and med as needed. No water breathing needed :-)
Good luck,
Osha

Faction?
# Aug 27 2003 at 1:39 PM Rating: Decent
Is there faction related to Millius talking to you?

I be a 55th season shammy and tried to turn in the ring for a guildie . . . . only for Millius to eat it.

Looking through the posts, I see other shammies said they did the turn-ins, so what am I missing?

Any help would be appreciated . . . .
RE: Faction?

I think it was fixed so he won't talk to any other class besides Cleric. They nerfed the MQing ability on it. So the cleric has to get all of the pieces and do all the turnins
Female Spawn Time
# Aug 12 2003 at 1:13 PM Rating: Decent
Ok looking thru all these post and talking to a friend on the phone, that was camping the spawn while i was reading this area...

The spawn is neg840, neg675 just like everyone says. The spawn is not distance related. Sony/VI has not stated they have implimented a distance spawn varriable.

My friend sat there and camped the spawn for 3-4 hrs and did nothing special like kill the spawn under the water. He just killed the spawn point where everyone has varrified the male and female spawns.

The spawn did happen at 6pm game time. I am not saying day or an exact time...
He was finishing off the male when the female spawned... I.E. They where both up, When he was killing the male, she spawned. The male was not standing right at the spot he was pulled away from the spot for the kill.

So just kill the spawn point over and over and she will spawn if your lucky..

Good Luck

If i have the Emblem can it be MQ'd for another clr? if so when does the other party come ion play PLZ leme know
RE: MQ?
# Aug 11 2003 at 2:25 PM Rating: Decent
I don't think this can be MQ'd, as there is only one item involved at any time (Emblem turned into Millius, he returns Alina's which you give to the spirit). There doesn't seem to be any place to have a third party involved.

Getting the emblem
# Aug 05 2003 at 2:04 PM Rating: Decent
After reading all of these posts, I assumed I had to kill only the "crew members" on the ships. Camped the stormweaver boat and cleared it about 5 times and no emblem. Then went LD all of a sudden and when I logged back in aggroed an engineer and had to kill him. He had the emblem! So it is not just crew members who drop the emblem. As far as the spirit goes, still trying to get her to spawn. It's the hardest part of the quest.

BTW-This may have just been our bad luck but we had alot of problems with root sticking and invis sticking in Dulak Harbor. Also had group members going LD left and right. Just a warning.

Have been trying to do this quest with cleric in guild for a LONG 4 days. Here is my experience so far. Ship 1 (Stormwave) drops the Emblem more frequently, and Fishermen also drop it - I find it and our cleric was too far away to loot it *cry*. So we ooc for it, and cleric isn't on long anyway, and we miss out again. Finally on 3rd day we get a tell and she loots it up. We head to Gunthak, give to Quest giver, and then go to find the FEMALE erudite spirit - LOL - We popped the male one nearly at will, but the female one wouldn't pop. As of this writing, we are trying scorched earth, including the underwater skellie, but have only had savage skellies pop repeatedly in LOC in quest - pretty frustrating really. Hope the emblem info helps some - that wasn't fun either.
Will update when I get some more decent info on this.
The spell
# Aug 04 2003 at 8:25 AM Rating: Good
It was easy getting the deepwater emblem. The hard part was camping the skellies for the spirit.

9 hours and much frustration and boredum later, I finally got it.

You do not have to kill the other erudite spirit. You do not have to kill the spawn under the water in the boat. I tried those things and after 7 hours, stopped doing them.

Two hours later, I had my spell.

Hope that helps :)

Ok, I have been trying to get to Dulak from the beach in Gunthak for 2 days. Without SoW, my Cloudy Potion wears off before I can get to the zone.

Is there a safe way to travel to dulak's from Gunthak?

I've just finished this quest today as this was how it was done:

Me (lvl 45 cleric) and a lvl 49 shaman went to Dulak for the easiest boat and got the Deepwater Emblem in about 4 kills. Dropped off the crew. After looting, I gate back to talk to Millius Darkwater to receive the ring. The location is correct (something near -850, -670) and after killing the skellie there about 4 times, the ghost spawned. Gave her the ring and got temperance. Took me about 1 hour and a half to the whole quest.

Now that I know how to do this Temperance quest.
How does one get to Dulok Harbor,

and where is the beach, in Gunthuk

would be helpful if someone could tell, and
I can travel there for the quest

Thank you

get a port to Stonebrunt, then run along the water until you find a boat, click the doors and it will zone you to where you need to be.

Just for the record...

When casting Resolution, Shield of Words, and Symbol of Naltron: You get a 25 HP difference for a saving of 175 mana. And because Temperance lasts twice as long as Symbol of Naltron, you might actually be saving a dot per cast.

# Jul 18 2003 at 12:48 PM Rating: Decent
A friend of mine did this with his necro and cleric using the necro to camp the spawn identified here as the trigger. After 3 hours, gave up and began mass genocie with the necro to all mobs on the beach ignoring the one under the boat in the water.

In the mean time the cleric kept camping the identified spot for the female euridite.

Within about half an hour of committing mass genocide on the beach, the female eduidite spawned.

Summary, There is a PH, but it does not appear to be a triggered spawn.

I did the quest two boxing my 45 ranger and my 46 cleric.

'a deepwater emblem' dropped off a random mob in front of Stormwave. Thats the easy part, about once every hour or two, you'll even hear a tell from someone in Dulak that an emblem is rotting somewhere. Invis is pretty much a must to move around freely in Dulak, though.

Now the hard part, I camped the spot at n840 n675 for about 4 hours (real time) before I got 'and erudite spirit' to spawn. The male version spawned in site of the female spawn site after the first hour (real time), and I went through a full 24 hours of game time with it spawned and no sign of the female version for the Temperance turn in.

I suspect that they both cannot be spawned at the same time (just a guess). I sent a tell to relevant level Pallies in Dulak that she had spawned, a pally there subsequently got his drop, came and did the turn in, and my female 'an erudite spirit' spawned about 20 minutes later.

Contrary to guides elsewhere, I do not believe it has to me 'night' in game for the spirits to spawn.
