The correspondent may be found at +130, -110.

You say, 'Hail, a Teir`Dal correspondent'

A Teir`Dal correspondent says, 'Greetings. I am a very busy person, is there something you would like [to do for me]? If not then take your leave, the work never ends around here now that the Trolls have moved in.'

You say, 'What can I do for you?'

A Teir`Dal correspondent says, 'I have been coordinating those who [seek riches] to travel to Broken Skull Rock and seek some revenge for these Trolls. Do not worry, they won't be here long. We already have intelligence working against the Guktan forces to force them back into the swamps. It is intolerable that our allies be treated in such a manner. However, as you can well see, for now they are here. Their numbers have been greatly reduced and anger abounds. Having people bring back some evidence that the Broken Skull Clan suffers losses as well is good for morale, and we do pay for it; anything to keep them from exploding within our city walls.'

You say, 'I seek riches.'

A Teir`Dal correspondent sets an appraising look upon you. 'You and many others. Do understand that we cannot offer you any aid once you leave the city. Your survival is your own responsibility. I will only reward you for bringing me servicable trophies. By this I mean, their heads. I will not accept an arm, or a finger, or any other body part that may have been taken without death. Do you [understand]?'

You say, 'I understand.'

A Teir`Dal correspondent says, 'Good then. Travel to Broken Skull Rock and slay the troll pirates. You will find that the ranks of Broken Skull are varied and nearly every rave may be represented, however as Trolls themselves, the Troll heads are the most useful, and therefore the only I shall accept. Bring me three of these heads in this and you shall have your reward.'

He then gives you a four-slot Dusty Burlap Sack to put them in.

The heads drop from various trolls in the Gulf of Gunthak. After combining the heads in the sack to create a Bag of Troll Pirate Heads, hand that in:

A Teir`Dal correspondent opens the bag and carefully removes three rather battered Troll heads. 'A bit beat up, but no true damage. You have done precisely as I have requested. Take this then, and be on your way.'

You gain experience!!

From Prathun (Developer) on the forums (
The NPC a_Teir`Dal_correspondent in Neriak: Foreign Quarter (NeriakA) does not have the ability to spawn until LoY unlocks, but more importantly, the spawn was completely disabled in Oct 2006. However, the spawn is enabled in the alt dataset of NeriakA. Based on the dialogues of the Teir`Dal correspondent NPC, this quest appears to be related to when the Trolls were ejected from Grobb and took up residence in Neriak. I assume that the spawn was disabled and/or the dataset was changed over when the trolls retook their home city of Grobb. It looks like the Troll Pirate Head items still drop in Gunthak.

It's probably fine to re-enable the spawn and change the dialogues. A fancier solution, like changing the population in Grobb and Neriak, is probably more effort than would be warranted for this quest.
Good guys too.

Have no fear. The Teir`Dal correspondent can be reached safley by good races. On your way out of Gunthak, stop by the lighthouse and buy a clowdy potion or two. They right click invis so Rangers don't have to wory about being inside for camo.
As you enter the DE city, go under the first wall "entry gate", then turn right. Go under that wall also. carefull not to go up any stairs or open anything. You are just going under the next wall. you can see the corrospondant not more than 50 ft. from you ahead and on your right. He is far enough from all stationary mobs to uninvis but a wandering guard does come near. From that point you can see where they were posting about jumping the right side of the wall. It is a safe path if you can hall buns. Just watch that the pacing guard on the top of the wall is far. If you do enter the city in this direction, you will not be able to visually see the corrospondant. He will be hidden by a little cove between you and the gateway you can see to your left.
Good luck and be safe.

I'm doing this quest with my 49 ranger on Bristlebane. The troll heads are uncommon-to-rare drops off of any of the trolls in the fort that Fisbus is talking about. Just takes some time. The ranger that told me about how to do it said the hardest part is in the turn ins at Neriak. Looks like us rangers need to work on that (superior) camoflauge skill, and even then we should be indifferent. But I wouldn't stick around in case camo fails.
right spot

hello everyone. i play on the drinal server with my 48 sk named auuil. i have a question concerning this quest, where in the zone of gunthack are the trolls? i talked to one of my guildies and he told me that after you enter the tunnel on the beach, take your first left and you will come to a fort with huts out side. kill all the mobs and the heads drop of trolls. any trolls but the broken skull ones. they don't drop them. well for 2 night i have been there killin like a madman and not one head. am i in the right spot or is there another place to get the heads? thanks for your time

<I>He is up on the Rathe server as of July 29, 2003. I know that much. After reading what the posts above said I hooked my mage and went to make sure and see if he was still up. I got bored and decided well since I cant do the quest yet lets just see how long it takes him to kill me. Now granted Im a Mage Level 33 almost 34. But I dont worry too much about dying or anything really Im in for the fun and all that. Stupid you say? perhaps but it was a blast. I summoned my Earth Pet... i use him most cause of his HP and ability to root if things get hairy so I can hightail it to my cubby hole and zone if necessary. I summoned the chain for him and the double blades and equipped him. Burnout, Damage shield used as well. the tier dal correspondent conned a high end yellow to me so thought okay...sure just for fun see how long it takes him to kill my Dark Elf butt for being a smarty. Well.. I send in pet and nuked like mad... ooopps he broke root from pet and came after me ... He hits for 144 damage now... and has about 2 k hitpoints I would imagine. My nukes hit for 207 damage everytime... so more or less I figure he has 2 k HP. He never resisted. never got any guards to help him, no faction at all still. But I did have to zone because he was killing the hell outta my pet and after he got on me... i was one hurting Dark Elf Mage. through zone.. okay came back he wasnt regening fast at all I had time to med... resummon everything and go at him agian...This time I died... but I still had time to loot corpse... summon all things and then take him out. Three tries at him back to back and he was dead... gave me 2 percent tick of xp at that level and is a fairly fast respawn. But all in all unless you have a bit higher nukes and your pet can tank a little better... dont try to kill him unless you want your **** parked on his silver tray for dinner... unless of course your just testing things or want to see how fast you can die like me. LOL

be well All and Have fun

There are troll resident shadow knights but I havent ever seen them drop one. You can usually tell they are sk cause they wear a blackbelt and sometimes u can see them casting spells in the huts
Which mobs drop the heads.

Troll marauders, pillagers, and plunders drop em....I don't think "Broken Skull" trolls drop em tho. Got one head off of each. Pretty rare drop too. I would guess we killed around 100 trolls before we got 3 heads. Of course, that means we killed another couple hundred of other types of mobs too.
# Jul 09 2003 at 12:02 AM Rating: Decent
If you go in the caves from what I've killed troll plunderers drop them and other Troll *name* mob in the caves drop em. Hope that helps fixin to go turn my 3 heads in now!!
What Drops them?

Ok -

I only have 1 Troll head - but how does a WE Ranger get OUT after the turn in ? (once I get my heads)

I'm assuming Neriak is an 'inside' zone and I can't camo to get back out...

Anyone ?

You're a 48 ranger. Level up to 49 when you get the supirior camo spell.

Or, until then, from 46 to 49, a Tolan's Darkwood Helm is your friend.

Plus there's always gate potions.

Yes Neriak is an Inside Zone. Being my Ogre's hometown, I've tried this many times just incase I wanted to play a good race. If your careful, you can actually sneak over the walls. When entering the awesome Neriak, try the right hand side you should be able to climb right over. It works from inside and outside of the wall. My suggestion is make a dark elf and try it out first. Then see where the guards and Dark elf ladies are, then once you know do it yourself. =) Good Luck.

I can confirm the correspondant up on June 24 on Drinal.

Got my last head tonight and completed the quest.

"I understand" soon as my invis broke, had an invis potion out and ready. Did the combine - and ran out...

I got lucky and it went smoothly ...woot

Another good solution if you know your way out is... run like crazy!!! And hope they don't catch you. Also, you could get a druid or wizard to come with you, and port out once you're done.
Up on Inny after 14th May patch

I was FINALLY able to complete this quest this morning/early afternoon when the servers went back up. I meant to go by before logging off to see if he was still up but forgot to. Hopefully this second 'minor' patch to patch the patch won't mess with him. I just hope they corrected his hit points and damage output for his lvl...

And yes I meant to say 'patch' that many time. ;)

Fixed for now

I went to do my turn in just before logging and he was there. Got the ring no problem. BUT, they were getting ready to "patch" the he may go down again. I hope he stays up.

FINALLY got some sort of comment on a_teir`dal_correspondent today.
Went into chat before logging into Inny and continuing my wait for the guy to show. Well the GM said that he is perma killed.
Now I am hoping that this is only until the path on the 14th but who knows.
I apologize for not writing the GM's name down to put his name next to his statement but it was indeed a GM and not just a 'guide' for what that's worth.
But after the insanity caused by collecting my three trollie heads I am going to hold on to them in the hopes that he will return after the patch.

He wasn't up from 2300 to 0000 on 5-11-03. Sent petitions, bug reports, and feedback. No GM's on. I'll keep my heads and come back again later. This is on 7th Hammer Server.

Still no Correspondent on Inny
# May 11 2003 at 3:49 PM Rating: Default
I spent about 7 hours yesterday in two sittings waiting on this guy to spawn at the ramp (neg135, neg101) and he never showed. =/
I petitioned twice, had a senior guide tell me the guy was spawning as intended but had no clue of the quest or who a teir`dal correspondent was so I am thinking I got a generic answer from him. Second time was a guide, good guy Xukuth he's been helpful in the past. He couldn't do much but check to see if the correspondent had spawned under the world, which he wasn't.
Both sent in bug reports to go with my bug report that I sent in. But I will be going back to the Foreign Quarter again today to see if he's up...

Broken on the Nameless
# May 05 2003 at 7:33 AM Rating: Default
Made a inkie mule to go check to see if the teir'dar correspondent was up. Waited a few minutes and then left to do some stuff. Came back a half hour later and saw 3 death messages from him. Sat and waited again, heard a death gunt and got the message "a teir'dal correspondent died, a teir'dal correspndent says " my friends will avenge my death" or some such. Timed it out about every 7 minute this happens, no toon or body. No Gm's on(big surprise), so just logged. Hope they fix this soon.

still broken
# May 04 2003 at 10:09 PM Rating: Default
official word from GM, the tier dal correspondant is still broken. per the GM i spoke with 'he is currently on vacation.' they couldn't even tell me outright that he was broken.. i finally got my heads.. i'll be hunting him down next patch.
# May 02 2003 at 1:09 AM Rating: Default
Found the correspondant, had to wait until after a patch to find him, but he was right where the posts said he would be..

what i'm having problems with is getting the troll heads to drop. i've been hanging out at the first shanty down in gunthak with the fort square in the center, killing evertyhing. i've killed every last troll murader, pillager, plunderer in site. i've even killed the broken skull trolls for their loot, (i've made a handfull of decent plat while i've been doing this. i have one head at this time.. so i know the trolls i'm killing drop them.. is there a better place to find them? were the drops nerfed? what gives..
He is up on Luclin Server
# Apr 24 2003 at 5:28 PM Rating: Default
I tried finding him a few nights ago and he was no where to be seen near the ramp where he is said to spawn. After I read the posts here, I figured I'd keep an eye out for him after the patch went through.

So, I happened to be in Neriak Foreign Quarter yesterday, Wednesday 23 April at 11:30 Pacific Standard Time, and sent out an OOC asking if anyone'd seen this guy. Sure enough someone answered me back, telling me that they were currently in the process of killing him! I politely asked if I could talk to him to start the quest when he spawned again. This NPC is on about a five or six minute timer, btw. The guy was really nice about it and let me get the bag to start the quest.

I tried to make my way through the caves over in the Gulf of Gunthak... and almost died about 50 feet in. Everything was dark blue to me, so I figured, "Hey, I can probably solo a few of these!" but ended up getting my butt handed to me by a few Lotus plants. Mobs there seem to have a large agro radius and will help one another! Be careful!
