You say, 'Hail, Shin Master Grubbus'

Shin Master Grubbus says 'Welcome back, young Shin. I hope your training is going well. I have made note of your progress as best I can, and you are truly following in the footsteps of Marr with every day that passes. As a paladin of Marr we must uphold His name and destroy those that wish to bring evil upon our people. Under Marr, I am able to offer you an additional path for training, should you truly desire to follow the path of a [Paladin].'

You say, 'i am a paladin'

Shin Master Grubbus says 'Very good. Initiates of the Knighthood of Marr must pass a series of tests. If you are devout and loyal to our cause you will be rewarded with our [ceremonial armor].'

You say, 'what ceremonial armor?'

Shin Master Grubbus says 'We, the Shin Initiates, play an important role as mentors, healers, and warriors against evil in the Guktan Army. As a Shin Initiate all your battles should be fought in Marr's name. To show your homage to both Mithaniel Marr and our fellow brethren in the Guktan Army, young initiates are encouraged to complete a series of tasks that, when completed, will grant a set of Shin Initiate Armor. This armor shows your dedication and commitment to our cause. If you truly wish to walk in the path of The Truthbringer, I strongly suggest you complete your set of armor before venturing too far outside of the swamp. Are you [ready to begin]?'

You say, 'i am ready to begin'

Shin Master Grubbus says 'Take this assembly kit. When you combine various items together in the assembly kit, you can create the different pieces of armor that you will need, such as [helm], [armguards], [breastplate], [bracers], [gauntlets], [legplates], and [boots]. If you would like to start crafting your armor, just tell me what piece you would like to craft and I will give you further instructions.'

Shin Master Grubbus will then hand you an Assembly Kit.

You say, 'i wish to craft a breastplate'

Shin Master Grubbus says 'This is the most difficult item that you will make. Please meditate on this and make sure you are ready before you begin. Through great perseverance and piety we are able to overcome almost any obstacle. To make a Breastplate of the Shin Initiate you will need to travel to the Common Lands, the Deserts of Ro, and Innothule Swamp and gather a Lightstone, one Pristine Giant Scarab Carapace, a Desert Tarantula Chitin, a Deathfist Slashed Belt, and two Small Bricks of Ore. If you cannot locate any ore in your travels, you might be able to find some ore for sale by visiting the local merchants. Once you have found these items, combine them in your assembly kit and take the newly created material to a forge, such as the one in the Gukta Exchange, along with this mold. After you have completed your Breastplate, come back to talk to me if you wish to perform your [final test].'

Shin Master Grubbus will then hand you a Mold.

Combine the items in the Assembly Kit to create the metal. Combine the mold and the metal in a forge to create Breastplate of the Shin Initiate.

Merchant Tapping

Alright, friends. Here's how to get your breastplate before you level up to 10. I hopped myself up though South Ro into Oasis and visited the merchants in the Inn near the zoneline. They had the Pristine Giant Scarab Carapace and Desert Tarantula Chitin for sale. You might die in the attempt, so do it before 10! I went to the bazaar and bought the Deathfist belt and put everything together. Always check merchants!
why quest it when you can just farm it.

This breastplate and the rest of the suit of armor of this kind drops off of a froglok pally in NFP. I've killed him numberous times and he drops the full suit and the shin sword every time. He cons light blue to me at 55 and a very easy kill.

Duh! I really don't see a baby froggy lvl 1-15 farming in NFP! Light blue at lvl 55 HAH! If one is twinking out a new alt, there is much better stuff for twinking availale at a price (of course) in the bazaar.
Does this upgrade?

Is there a way to upgrade this armor as one gains lvls? Like by turning in the bp along with other components to get a pb with better stats, much like the Prayer shawls quest.

33 Pally wondering if this is now trash in the bank...
Ok

all the newbie armor quest are no-fail smithing. It checks skill for exp and level and adds exp to it, but doesn't require any level at all.
Smithing Combine

Combining the trash to make the material for the armor seems to be a special, no-skill combine, but combining the material with the mold uses smithing. My baby frog had no failures, so there musn't be a skill-check, but his smithing did go up three points making all the pieces.

The final result is a dark green plate.
