This begins in the tower of the library in the Plane of Knowledge.
You say, 'Hail, Aid Fimli' Aid Fimli says 'Greetings Doremi! I wish I had time to chatter but my duties to the list and the Grand Librarian keep me extremely busy.' You say, 'What duties?' Aid Fimli says 'I am the aid for the Grand Librarian and he has me cataloging tomes on the master list. I spend so much time working on the list I haven't had time to go collect these items from the planes my uncle in Ak'Anon keeps pestering me over. He wants to upgrade his scrapyard back in Ak'Anon, and says only these items will do. Would you be willing to do me a favor?' You say, 'I would be willing to do you a favor.' Aid Fimli says 'Wonderful! If you would gather the following; a bundle of superconductive wires, silicorrosive grease, a gold tipped boar horn and a shard of pure energy, then take them to my uncle Sanfyrd in Ak'Anon. I would really appreciate being able to get back to my work uninterrupted.' The first two drop from yard trash in the Plane of Innovation. Gold tipped boar horns drop in Drunder, Fortress of Zek (aka Plane of Tactics) off various boars. Shards of pure energy drop off lightning giants in the Bastion of Thunder. In exchange for these items, Sanfyrd gives you a note to bring back to Aid Fimli. Aid Fimli says 'Great! I see you got the items to uncle; perhaps he will stop badgering me now and let me be in my work. Hmmmmm, Uncle mentions in his letter that he worked out a way for a gnome to make a giant set of crab crackers. He states it is useless in Norrath but I may be able to make some use of it out here. I guess it wouldn't hurt to share it with you and file it away in the library. To create the cracker combine two metal rods, firewater and a knuckle joint in a toolbox. Interesting indeed, anyways here is your reward; I hope you can put it to good use.' | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

These things seem to be way too common for such a great peice of gear. The quest I have been told is very easy, and since the second teir plane drops are droppable, it should be very easy. I plan on gathering the peices myself soon. With prices plummetting as they are now, I see them coming down to about 10-12k and that is extremely low given the stats. I think this will be nerfed, whether it be stats or drop rate on quest stuff, so my advice to you is if you have the means, go get one now.

I suggest you actually DO the quest before commenting how "easy" it is !
I did the quest and yes, its well worth the trouble, but it is not "easy".
Unless you buy the boar horn and the shard you'll have to be 62+ or flagged to get those.
The parts are not common drop and theres usually competition in any group for the items, since the cloak is tradeable and still sell fairly well.

Just to warn anyone who might try to attempt. If you are an evil race Sanfyrd Featherhead will NOT accept the turn-in regardless of faction with him. He calls you "evil-doer" or something and won't accept. Had tried to MQ it with an iksar monk (ya know sneak makes indifferently) He would not take items...some dropped to the ground nd them lil clockwork cleaners ate em. (The safehouse...most liekly known to my fellow rogues... confirms it, all evil races cannot do quest regardless of faction.) Trust me, i'm down 5k in quest items...luckily it was my second time through the quest so i had a nice cushion to fall back on. Also, watch out while MQ-ing. If your items get eaten GM's won't give it back. MQ-ing is considered a form of cheating.(surprised they don't try anything to prevent it then, other than not returning items)

I did this last night and I am a Darkelf Wizard. Just had an enchanter cast share illusion gnome on me for the pok part and Akanon parts, though the Sanfryd guy in Akanon was still kos, the enchanter charmed him and I was able to turn in the items for the note to return to the guy in pok. When I did the final turn in I also had share illusion gnome on. Hope this helps some of the other evil raced people who have the stuff to finish the quest.

ok so do you give him a crab cracker? the text is a little vague on that point- and are the pieces droppable? like the horn or no drop?

Yes all peices EXCEPT the Bundle of Super Cunductive Wires , and the note received for turning thenm in are droppable. So a MQ is possible as long as you have the wires. Or do it the easy way and get a gnome ya trust to do the turn in , the cloak is Dropable also.

The crab cracker in the text is just the recipe used by tinkerers. Some of the quests in PoK give out these new recipes for tinkering(ie. Trep's Shopping List gives the recipe for a wok), you do not have to give the crab cracker to Aid Fimli. The crab cracker is used in baking.

Price is dropping fast on Tarew Marr, as there are some folks doing the quest every day just for plat. While /bazaar bots often have a price of 20k or so, I see them sell every day for 15k. I'm guessing if the farming continues, we'll see it under 10k in a week or so. I'm hoping the price plumments, so I can get one for my woodelf warrior. =P
