You must complete the previous two quests before you can do this quest.

Elder Clinka is found in the Plane of Tranquility at loc -385, -1275, -900, not far from the Plane of Nightmare entrance.

You say, 'Hail, Elder Clinka'

Elder Clinka does not seem to notice you.

Hand her The Talisman Schematic (the note you got at the end of the previous quest).

Elder Clinka says 'It is a pleasure to meet you. I've heard a great deal about you from the other elders. Please give me a moment to scan over this for you.'

Elder Clinka scans the schematic for a few seconds, mumbling as she reads, 'This parchment states that you are to place a small shard of concentrated elemental matter into each of the holes in your talisman.' She points a finger to the diagram as she begins to recount what she has learned from it, 'They would then need to be locked into place, as the diagram indicates here.'

Elder Clinka says 'If you bring me a fragment or shard of some living creature from each of the elemental planes, I will see if we can make this device work. Place them in this box with your talisman and combine them together before returning the box to me. In the meantime, I will continue to translate this document from its original language.'

You receive a Small Lined Case. Place the following five items into the case:
* Powered Clockwork Talisman (the reward from the previous quest in the series)
* A Living Fragment of Air (dropped by any Temple Guardian in the Eryslai, the Kingdom of Air [Plane of Air])
* A Living Fragment of Fire (dropped by any Jopal in Doomfire, the Burning Lands [Plane of Fire])
* A Living Fragment of Water (dropped by any Trilouns in the Reef of Coirnav [Plane of Water])
* A Living Fragment of Earth (dropped by any Vekerchikis in Vegarlson, the Earthen Badlands or Ragrax, Stronghold of the Twelve [Plane of Earth A and B, respectively])

Combine them to produce a Sealed Lined Case.

You have fashioned the items together to create something new!

Hand the Case to Elder Clinka.

Elder Clinka carefully opens the small box and takes several small tools from the pocket in her robe. Her nimble fingers place the glowing elemental pieces into the appropriate sockets and covers them with several small caps that she must have made while you were away.

Elder Clinka then looks up at you and says, 'This device is called the Binden Concerrentia. Its true power will be revealed to you soon. This document describes it as a device that is meant to convert the energy that can be found in true prime elemental matter, into an entirely new form of energy. The schematic states that this energy will 'bind you in the now'. I am not sure what that means, but I believe that you will soon find out.

Elder Clinka says 'Take care of it and keep it with you at all times. I feel that your journey from this point will only become more dangerous. Perhaps this device will play a role in all of that. Move forward along the path of enlightenment. May the Balance guide your fate.'

You receive The Binden Concerrentia in your inventory.

I just did the Talisman #1 and 2 just fine. got all 5 items for #3
and it will not let me combine them. It's telling me "you cannot combine these items in this container type" any ideas?

so you find the lady and turn in the schematic reward from quest #2, she gives you another combining case. In that case you place the powered reward from #2, and either four Fabled fragments or regular fragments. Combine and turn that case in to her, and you should have reward of the fabled or regular Bin, depending on your final combine.

UPDATE: If your doing the Fabled version, make sure you get the Shining case by following the chat with "container." The small regular case is for non-fabled quest pieces. At any rate, I just completed the fabled version and will attempt a regular version as well, to make sure its all good;0

I was unable to do this with my elemental planes flagged level 48 SK ( I did have #2 completed). I put the parts in the bank and forgot about them. I went back at level 59 and was able to complete this. I wanted to try at 51, sorry, but at 59 it is doable.

It might be already known, but once you complete the 1st quest, obtaining the bottle, you don't have to do that part again. I give my Bindens to my other characters, and always end up with the "Strange Jewelers Schimatic" to start again:)

It took me two days to complete all 3 quests to get this using an 85 warrior with a rogue merc. There really are no hard parts to get this, just boring camps waiting for the right drops... Easy quest and a good one for when your bored
Just finished it!

After years of putting it off, I decided it was time. I two boxed, 82 bst-2300 AAs, 80 sk-1750 AAs, joined by 81 cleric-900 AAs. No mercs. I just followed the comments and directions posted in all 3 quests. Thanks for all those who posted previous years. It saved lot of time.

Most of 1st drops occured within 30 minutes for me. So I can see people finishing up within 3-6 hours. 2nd drops were longer 1-2hours. 3rd drop: 1-2 hours. So if you are unlucky like I was, you can spend lot of times.. But still not bad.

Worst was PoD, PoA, and PoE drops. It was because I ran out of mobs and had to wait for repops..

Brick Knowledge will be primary but it is nice to have second way to PoK.
Might of been luck of the irish

Ok here is my story.. I'm a collector of old things clicky in nature and when i seen this I was like kewl another way for me to get to PoK without having to use my Throne of heroes, clicky staff to Cresent or that ridiculous brells mark .. I also use gate potions . with this now i do not have to use gate potions if i dont want to cause potions are expensive they also only stack up to 20 where as the Quintessence can stack up to 100. but now ive bound my self in HoT so i can still use the gate potions to throw me that way if i like my throne to get me to GL or the binden to head to PoK .. oh i also have origin aa.. so to make a long story longer the whole time it took me from quest #1 to final turn in Quest #3 was alittle over 3 hours .. the longest camp being the drop in PoD off those slime bile goos which took me alil over an hour.. rest of the pieces dropped within 5 to 10 min after zone in..btw I am a 90 Bst .. didnt even need merc and i pulled swarms of mobs at a time in some of the zones like PoF and torment and valor.. get your swimming skill up for PoWater .. and unless you can FD or fade PoAir will be fun.. i ran thru entrance mobs and FD once inside the tunnel once agro cleared got up and started killing the temple guards right around there.. only 6 or so had to kill and got loot.. ran back to entrance with train on my heels and zoned.. although it prolly would not have been a problem killing them just waste of time. loot drops were good lots of gems so made pp while i was at it.. I am going to eventually do this quest for most of my toons even ones with gate spell cause this gives them like a secondary gate option .. :P ok thanks for hearing my story.. enjoy oh and the Quintessence of knowledge are easy for a shaman to make skill lvl 15 in alchemy so you can make a baby shaman get him to 25 then start alchemy cost is around 100pp per which is less than a gate potion and like i said they stack up to 100..

Got my necklace today. Did it all solo with 71 Monk + cleric merc. Pretty good quest to do at 70ish cause everything still lightblue for the most part and so you get decent exp while killing all this crap. POEarth drop actually took me the longest to get at about 20-25 kills. All the other drops were around 10 or less kills. The people saying they did it in 6 hours are probably right. This wasn't too hard at all solo, and with one or two other people it would have been real easy.

Also, if you don't have a Shaman to make the Quintessence of Knowledge you need for necklace, I'd suggest just leveling up one to 25 so you can start alchemy and make them yourself. The skill is real low, you can level it with the free tradeskill quests in Crescent Reach, and the stuff to make them is vendor bought and costs 100pp each. Baz prices are about 150pp on my server, so if you do it yourself you can save quite a bit pp if you use it a lot. Gate potions cost about 200pp so forget those!
4 hours for turn ins? *points and laughs*
# Dec 09 2008 at 11:40 AM Rating: Decent
Actually I just did it in 6.5 hours. But really if it takes you 4 hours to do the turn ins to 3 different NPCs in 2 different zones, you have to be on dial up AND retarded. Granted at lower levels this is really a time consuming quest, but 6 hours or so is reasonable.
4 hours or less, impossible
# Aug 03 2008 at 6:39 AM Rating: Default
Anyone looking to do this quest, I have just completed it for the 4th time. And unless you happened upon some of the drops before doing this quest, you will never do this quest in 2 hours or 4 hours like the liars below have said.

Not even with good luck will you do it in 4 hours. Those people are just liars talking out their asses.

Even if you had ALLL the pieces you need for the quest, turn ins would take 4 hours. Dont listen to the noobs who say they did this in less than 8 hours.

They probably paid for their accounts and buy all their plat.

I know that this is a very old post, but wanted to add my two cents worth for those yet to do it.I had heard about this quest years ago, but was too low of a level to do it, then I left the game for a couple of years. I came back and leveled several of my toons. After reading up on the quest, I figured it would be a great way to spend a day with nothing else to do.
First toon was my SK. From start to finish took just 2 mins over 4 hours. I figured that it was easy and fast enough that I would try it on my Monk.
My monk was able to do the quest in just over 5 hours. I took my warrior and he did it in just under 8 hours. I took a couple of days off and came back with my ranger. He did it in just over 12 hours.
There was a server reset.
I took my Zerker, I did it in just under 4 hours. I jumped onto my Bard and it took just over 4.5 hours. My rogue took just over 7 hours. The server crashed and I took out my beast, again it took just under 4 hours.

These times are from logging in to the final turn in. I believe that when the server resets, the mobs seem to have the items on them with out having to go through the respawns.

This may hold true for others, it may not. Just putting it out there. I know that I will wait for the next reset / update to the server before I will do it again.

I just did this entire quest .. (all 3 tasks start to finish to recieve final •The Binden Concerrentia) in just over 6 hours total.. took me all of 20 mins to do all the turn ins .. and i am neither a liar nor have i ever purchased plat or gotten anything from 3rd party person and i have played my own account for over 6 years. you are offencive and obviously a far sub standard player to think it is so impossible to do it in under 8 hours.. spend some time on your toon and maybe you can do it as well

I first saw a link to the Binden Concertina about two years ago, and I immediately wanted it. At the time I thought it had uber stats, and a GREAT cliky (partly because I had no cliky's at the time, and wanted a cliky, any cliky real bad). I also wanted it because I had no gate/cliky zoning devices. Now the stats are kind of useless at level 75, and with no AC, I wouldn't think of actually wearing it. And I now have the Origin AA, the Crescent Reach cliky, gate pots, and with the Guild Lobby, ranger gating is a whole lot easier than it used to be. So why bother? Because I have wanted it for so long. Now that I have it, it will take it's place in the trophy boxes in the bank along side my Ring of the Shissar, Sceptor of Shadows, Swiftwind, Earthcaller, etc. I might use it if I have bound some place weird, but I have hardly any room in my back pack for it, so I need to leave it in the bank unless I really think I am going to use it.

As for how long it took me, It probably took me sixten hours total, certainly less than 24 hours. Some of it was done over a year ago on the first stage, when plane of disease and other tier one PoP zones were hard zones for me, but the last two stages I solo'd and went pretty quick except for the Plane of Air drop. You are going to need to think about that one pretty hard because it is not an easy solo zone and groupage in Plane of Air is going to be hard to find. So GL!
Minor error

Here is the full, updated text for the quest.

Elder Clinka scans the schematic for a few seconds, mumbling as she reads, 'This parchment states that you are to place a small shard of concentrated elemental matter into each of the holes in your talisman.' Combine them to produce a Sealed Lined Case.

You have fashioned the items together to create something new!

Hand the Case to Elder Clinka.

Elder Clinka carefully opens the small box and takes several small tools from the pocket in her robe. Her nimble fingers place the glowing elemental pieces into the appropriate sockets and covers them with several small caps that she must have made while you were away.

... AND

THEN combine it.

Please read entire message the NPC gives you and you would have known =)

I combined it just today, Aug 15th -04, and it worked just fine. No bug or cant combine item messages.

Broken Quest???
# Feb 19 2004 at 6:06 AM Rating: Default
After months of working on this quest, i finally got my last fragment from PoAir tonight. Much to my dismay, when i put the 4 Fragments into the Small Lined Box along with the Powered Clockwork Talisman and hit combine, NOTHING happened. Didn't get a messaget that "These items cannont be combined in this container" or anything. Just plain nothing happened. I still have all my pieces, filed a /petition and a /bugreport.

Anyone else have this problem lately? Or am i just having some bad luck?

PS

This quest has NOTHING to do with PoTime access for anyone who is wondering. It's just a cool quest that results in a neck item with NICE stats and gives Melee a chance to Gate to PoK for a small price ( Quintesence of Knowledge are Shaman made for around 105pp or can be bought in Bazaar for around 150pp on Fennin Ro). Sure beats buying Gate potions though *shrug*

I have been a real slacker on the first 2 talisman and have almost completed them but have 3 of the 4 pieces for the final talisman. My question is. Can I use up all the charges before I trade up to next on? I should have last pieces for 1 and 2 today - after I get #1 can I use up the charges before I turn in for #2? or does the talisman need to be fully charged for turnin?

Thanks

Now.... there needs to be another level of this. +20 stats and resist, +100 mana HP. Drops from Time. Maybe Phase 3 or after :)

A Living Fragment of Air
PoAir - Drops off Temple Guardian's

A Living Fragment of Earth
PoEarth - Drops off Vekerchiki's

A Living Fragment of Fire
PoFire - Drops off Jopal's

A Living Fragment of Water
PoWater - Drops off Triloun's

Fragment droppers differ by name in each zone, but they all look alike... resembling a Mephit. If you don't know what a Mephit looks like, then use the names I provided above to help assist your hunt.

PoFire Jopal's are solo'able... they don't summon or cast. PoAir, PoEarth, and PoWater... you will need a group, they summon.

After completing your 2nd necklace, instead of receiving another box back... you'll receive a Talisman Schematic. Once you've collected all 4 fragments from each elemental zone... go see Elder Clinka in PoT (-375, -1275). Hand her the Talisman Schematic and she'll give you a Lined Box. Place all 4 fragments and your 2nd (Powered) Talisman inside and combine. Hand her the combined box and viola! This Talisman still requires the Quintessence of Knowledge reagent in order for it to work.

Got mine today! Good luck to all of you working on this, it's well worth it. Smiley: boozing
