At the cost of my sanity, I completed this quest yesterday on Oakwynd during the Luclin era. Due to the fact that most people aren't even trying it, I had to run it on all 5 Vah Shir classes (Beast, Warrior, Shaman, Rogue, and Bard). Most of the stuff is correct, but I'll add some notes to assist anyone who is working on it. Also, I'll be posting completed items for the 4th step (Sonic Wolf Bane weapons) in the Bazaar, which should help if you want to finish it on your own on Oakwynd.
Note 1 (Warrior #2): Ground spawns.
You need three ground spawns (blue mushroom, red mushroom, pinch of some moss) that are all found in VS. This was the single most aggravating part of the entire quest line for me. Basically, as near as I can tell, there are 2 ground spawns "active" at any time in the zone. Once one is picked, it will respawn as a different item somewhere else in the zone (and there are a lot of different spots). The respawn is roughly 5 minutes, based on my testing. The spots will spawn the same thing at the location, but which spot is spawned next is entirely random. There are 4 different possible spawns, the mushrooms, the moss, and some mud. The mud and moss look the same, like little rocks that blend in with the background.
What I did was circle the zone with my UI turned off, staring hard at the monitor. The issue is that most of the items are lore, so you can't clear a spawn without destroying the item in inventory to pick up the new item. Once I started destroying items, I saw a lot more spawns. Still, got stuck on the red mushroom for almost 4 hours of circling the zone. Awful.
Note 2 (All): Hollowshade Loot
Some of the items needed in Hollowshade Moor (wolf tongues, molars, jawbones, owlbear guts and fatty meat) only drop off the wandering mobs (sonic wolf pups, wolflings, wandering wolves, owlbear cubs, grapplers, razorbeaks). HOWEVER, they also only drop from wandering mobs IN THEIR HOME AREA. So, a sonic wolf pup wandering outside the owlbear caves will have the generic loot table, and will never drop the tongues or molars or jawbones. I was not able to determine if once the war has started (one area being taken over), if that disrupts all the loot tables, but I would HIGHLY recommend only farming when the moor is its in default state with all three sides in their homes.
Note 3 (All): Grimling War Documents
The documents are now dropped by the Coin Couriers in specific camps. The Number 2 documents are dropped in the Southern camps. The Number 1 documents are dropped in the NW camp, and the Number 3 documents are dropped in the North camp. At least, that's where those dropped for me (consistently).
