You can only do this quest with a single group. Completing this quest (or any of the other trials) will give you access to the Plane of Storms and the Plane of Valor.

Talk to Mavuin in the basement cellblock.

You say, 'Hail, Mavuin'

Mavuin strains his eyes to look up at you in disbelief, then reaches down into a rusted vent and pulls out a journal. 'Please I implore you, take word to the Tribunal. I have done nothing wrong, yet I have been sentenced to eternity in this cell. I wish to present all of the [information] about my case to them. They must listen to my plea if they are truly the gods of justice.'

You say, 'What information?'

Mavuin tells you, 'I know it has been said for years before me, and will be said for years after me, but I was truly framed for my crime. You see the gods feared the knowledge that I carry with me. So to prevent me passing this knowledge to others, it was set up to show that I had plotted to murder one of the other elders. Please go before the tribunal and plead my case. If you do this I will share what I know with you, I apologize for holding it against you, but I am desperate to be released.'

You have received a character flag!

Head to the area with The Tribunal, and ask them about Mavuin. Following the dialog, saying "I am prepared" to each Tribunal will give you description of the six trials.

To do this one, say "I am ready to begin the trial of flame." Make sure you are actually prepared when you say that because your group will be teleported to the event area where you will only get a few seconds before things start.

You say, 'I am prepared.'

The Tribunal nods slightly. 'Very well. When you are ready, you may begin the trial of flame. You must endure the heat of the fire and be sure not to let its creatures reach the center. We shall judge the mark of your success.'

You say, 'I am ready to begin the trial of flame.'

The Tribunal says 'Then begin.'

This one puts you in one of the open rooms with a pillar in the middle. Four mobs will spawn, either imps or fire elementals. Elementals are mezzable, imps are not.

Waves of mobs spawn around the outside of the arena and then proceed to move towards a post in the center. If any mob at all reaches the post in the center, you loose. Do not try and fight in or close to the centre of the arena as sooner or later a mob will end up on the post even if you have aggro.

During the fights, three different AE's will be cast throughout the room:
Searing Heat (debuffs fire resistance by 100 for 6.5 minutes)
Fiery Death (DD for 400hps and 1-slot dispell)
Wave of Heat (DoT for 200hps per tick).

After four waves you will have to defeat Punisher of Flame.

Finishing this trial yields you the Mark of Flame.

Now talk to the Tribunal.

You say, 'What evidence of Mavuin?'

You have received a character flag!

The Tribunal tells you, 'You have completed a trial - impressive for mortals. You can tell Mavuin that we will hear his plea. We will seek him out as time befits us.'

Head back down and talk to Mavuin.

You say, 'Hail, Mavuin'

Mavuin tells you, 'So you have pleaded my case to the Tribunal, I am most thankful. I hope that they will listen to my case soon and release me. The knowledge that I promised you is this. The followers in the Plane of Tranquility are trying to find information on what has happened to Zebuxoruk. What I know is that he has been captured for a second time. If you want to find out more information I believe you should seek an audience with Karana and Mithaniel Marr. I can only assume that they were present at the time of his capture and know why this has taken place. Also seek from Marr a way to translate the divine language. Only with it can you understand the writing of the gods. There is no more that I can tell you, but thank you once again for your attempt in returning my freedom.'

You have received a character flag!

This will flag you to be able to enter the Plane of Storms and Plane of Valor.

Need missing dialogues, /loc of quest mobs.

Makes sense because of its name but be sure to use cold and magic resists, for druids, wizzies and mages.

The mobs can get to the pillar and even go inside it (you do still see parts of their bodies outside) and you don't lose until some time passes, maybe a minute? There are no prisoners or condemned characters in the zone to indicate you lost. If the mobs go inside the pillar, attack them quickly, use an aoe spell or disc, and they will aggro on you and emerge. But don't run back to your group too fast because they will lose aggro quickly if you move too far away and that distance is small.

Add additional related creatures: "Fiend of flame" and "Spirit of flame"

Conversation with The Tribunal to start the trial:

You say, 'I am prepared'
The Tribunal nods slightly. 'Very well. When you are ready, you may begin the trial of flame. You must endure the heat of the fire and be sure not to let its creatures reach the center. We shall judge the mark of your success.'

Do not try and fight in or close to the centre of the arena as sooner or later a mob will end up on the post even if you have aggro.

This is probably the best place to farm items for tribute. You can get the task without a group, and it's takes about an hour. If you get all 4 drops from the named, it's around 35k in tribute

not true--just means you must kill them before they despawn is all. Timer starts once they touch the post.

I finally got a group together and it was so much fun we ended up doing 3 of them in less than half hour. Execution, flame, stoning.
The levels were between 65-68

Cleric 65
Rogue 68
Beastlord 66
Mage 66
Ranger 68
Monk 65

With all this dps and the cleric we didn't need someone to mezz.

I just did The Trial of Execution last night, and actually the night before, first time the people in the grp didn't know the whole quest. Both times was pretty easy the second time did the whole thing with a Mag that summoned us back after talking to the Tribunal which made it go faster :) I was told after every flag you complete you go to this guy in pok and get an AA point I got one last night and hope you do get one for each of the 6 trials. I got 116% AA including the free one for under a half hour of work, would of got more but the mag didn't summon me down to the basement until almost all mobs were killed I got lost trying to get there :) heehee :) Another thing the guy in pok who is a dwarf sitting in a room in the building near the Soul Binder gives you a charm that gets better stats the more trials you complete so it is worth it for that too ;)

The charm will only upgrade if you get one trial done, because it will flag you for PoValor and Storms. You get charm upgrades and/or AAs for entering new Planes (not sub-planes ie: PoNightmareB)

Run down...

Two mob types (as stated) imps and elementals
"spirit of flame" - warrior - elemental
"fiend of flame" - warrior - imp
"a burning nemesis" - Shadow Knight - elemental
"a fiery aggressor" - Shaman - imp

elemental models are mezzable, imp models are not

burning nemesis drops Mask of Witness about 80% of the time and Ornate Sceptre the other 20% of the time.

fiery aggressor drops Massive Flameguard Helm about 95% of the time and rarely drops Mask of Contemplation.

I'm not sure about the non-named mobs, but the "named" mobs have around 20k hit points. Guessing based on other trials, the non-named probably have around 10-15k.

Every 30 seconds or so during the trial there is an AE that hits everybody, they alternate. The first one cast is "Searing Flame". With FR of around 100, this has never hit me. In about 500 times being cast on me (though at least half the time my FR was 400) at level 65. The second AE is "Wave of Heat" this is a 200ish pt / tick DoT that is dispellable. With 400 FR, I resist this about two thirds of the time.

As soon as you hear 'Then Begin' you are ported into the trial. Trial is a round room. You have about 20 seconds before first wave spawns. First wave is four enemies which will start walking towards the center unless you are almost in melee range.

It is important to note, that you do not have aggro unless you are VERY close to the mob, and when you don't have aggro, it will regen at a rate of about 20% per second. When the trial starts, you need to root or mez as many as possible, and immediately attack one. If one reaches the center, you have about 60 seconds to kill it before it despawns and you lose the trial.

Other than that, you need to kill all four in about three minutes before the next wave spawns. Repeat this through four waves to get to the boss.

So then you only do one of the 7 trials? and if so which one would one do which is easiest? and this is crazy but if a lv 54 BL had a grop of 5 lv 65's might he be able to win it?
RE: Huh?
# Apr 11 2006 at 11:34 AM Rating: Decent
Get yourself a group of 4 high level mages and a healer to run you through this trial. Like all the trials it seems, it's all about killing the mobs fast, which means fast DPS. High level mage pets are all the tank you need for these and if each mage takes one mob, they die in plenty of time for the next wave. The cleric/druid/shaman just helps to keep the pets alive while the mobs get burned down. This is just the easy way to do it.

# Mar 07 2004 at 8:07 PM Rating: Decent
The Trial of Execution is considered by most the easiest and it can be rough for even a group of all 65s. It requires a high amount of dps since you have to kill the mobs in a set time.
RE: Huh?
# Feb 10 2004 at 1:31 AM Rating: Default
You do one of the trials for normal planar progression. any one of the trials. You complete all the trials at least once to get access to a dead end plane. I have not done this and do not intend to go through this insulting torture to do so.
RE: Huh?
# Mar 07 2004 at 8:03 PM Rating: Decent
The Reason for doing all trials is to gain access to the 7th Hammer, a raid mob. You only have to win each trial once to gain access to him. 7th Hammer is just a raid event, not needed for Elemental Planes or Plane of Time access, up to you if you think its worth it or not. SOme of us do think its worth it though.

Is it actually required to talk to Mavuin? I had a pickup group who attempted the trial of execution the other night and we never went to see him? Perhaps if one in the group has already gotten the flag it will suffice for the rest of the group? In any case our attempt was a wipe, we got the boss mob and his pets smacked me around.....partly due to the fact that I had no idea using ae nukes would hurt me as well, no matter where the mobs were that I was nuking. Of course I wouldn't use them when they actually got to me...but I attempted to use them in the start when the tank had agro....bad idea :0/ It went ok for a first attempt, but woulda gone better had any of us known what to expect. I'm sure I will know better next time :0)

Trial of Flame
# Dec 14 2003 at 1:15 AM Rating: Good
Trial of Flame: 4 waves of 4 mobs, elementals and imps. Imps are not mezzable, Elementals are. The goal is to keep the mobs from reaching the pole in the center of the room, but if they do you have about 30 seconds to remove them from it.

Throughout the trial, two AEs will go off, both are fire based DOTs, and resistable as such. With proper healing and mezzing, this trial is fairly easy, if a little frenetic.

Once ALL MOBS from all four waves (16 mobs) the boss will spawn. Fairly straightforward fight against him.

Tried it tonight... TRIED... pick up group :P, but good peeps, 65 shm, pal, mnk, brd, bst, and 64 clr.. not enough healers imo.. mobs hit week but fast 350+.. bard couldn't mez any.. and he only got off partial slow.. i didn't try to slow was too busy tryin to keep the clr and shm alive, while they kept the pal, mnk alive... there were a hella lot more mobs then 4.. when i droped finally there were still 4 in the room.. i think it's a test of endurance here's why.. with bard song on and shm fire resist my resist was 266.. i didn't get hit with any spells, however my pet did by 2... so i think we were almost done since there's only 3 spells that are cast... hope that helps
hmm ?

Yes someone please is this just 4 mobs?? or it it multipul waves of mobs?

time limit?
# Feb 07 2003 at 3:59 PM Rating: Decent
Is there a time limit on killing the mobs in each wave like in Execution, or is the 90secs in the middle the only one?

If that is so, this should be the easiest one there is if you have a good chanter or bard that can park mobs on the wall ... especially for the boss when they could hold the mob til everyone is full mana for final fight.
How many waves?

Is this trial a single wave of attackers or 4 waves of 4 like the trial of execution?

Banish
# Nov 08 2002 at 10:22 PM Rating: Decent
We tried banish..when it wasn't resisted...the druids got the message saying that this mob is un-affected..or something like that.

Basically..it didn't work
RE: Banish
# Nov 26 2002 at 3:27 PM Rating: Default
Actually, if they were not elementals, then the druids/mages/rangers would have gotten the text saying that they couldn't cast the spell on that target as soon as they attempted to cast it.
Mages and Druids
# Nov 06 2002 at 4:54 AM Rating: Decent
Are the elementals and imps summoned? If so, it seems like this trial is designed for mages and druids who can simply banish them. :) Just need to have good magic and fire resists, maybe someone to tank the boss mob.

Banish does not work. I have tried. Destroy summonded does work. The elementals are summoned but they cannot be banished.

I have tried this trial multiple times and have not succeeded yet. This trial is one of the toughest. I havent tried trial of stoning yet so I don't know about that one.

Chanters in my group have said that they resist mez alot. I've gotten to the 2 or 3rd wave before wiping.
