Xasri Virek can be found at LOC -680, 920, -125 in the Plane of Knowledge. This is on the evil side, bridge arch building, ground level.

You say, 'Hail, Xasri Virek'

Xasri Virek says 'Welcome my student. I see you have brought with you the Beginner's Manual. If you are ready for your next lesson, the task is simple. A vicious terror has awoken somewhere in the Plane of Innovation. You must seek out the Junk Beast and bring me its power source along with your Beginner Combat Manual. Doing this will prove your battle courage above all else. Remember, the gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man or lizard perfected without trials. I wish you luck.'

Xasri Virek requires that you prove your worth by killing the Junk Beast in the Plane of Innovation and returning its power source to him, together with your Beginner's Combat Manual.

Xasri Virek says 'Very impressive, ______. This proves you have clearly graduated to the next phase of training we have to offer. Keep this book by your side and speak to Gwiraba Gelrid when you are ready for your next lesson.'

Your reward is the Intermediate Combat Manual.

Sweet and not too tough

I killed the Junk Beast with my 74 Ranger and 68 Cleric Healing me on Drinal and picked up the power source. I had to use a healing pot at one point. The fight took about 4 to 5 minutes. I actually did not know about this quest but he was there and attacked me so we killed it.

I only had conviction and no shammy buffs. With tenacity and fully buffed would have been cake. Don't fear this mob it's not too tough.

After a bug took our flags for Xanamech last night... we waited for GM's... after 45 minutes the Junk Beast popped. He can be killed with 2 Clerics (60 and 65), 1 Shaman (65), 1 Rogue (63), and 1 Warrior (61)... so he is 1 groupable...

I am close to completing this quest, but for 3 weeks now I haven't seen the Junk Beast spawn.

I have tried to sapwn him a couple of times and got 2 grps of 65's (yes complete overkill) left past the factory entrance to the xroad and entered the room to the right there. There we killed the degrading guardians and all the mobs outside the room and in the vicinity of that Junk Yard, but after 3 hours of killing all the mobs there, the Junk Beast still didn't show up.

Am I killing the mobs at the wrong spot? Is there a PH I need to kill to make the JB spawn?

Any information is greatly appreciated.

You're talking BS...

We killed the Junkbeast today and he does some annoying AEBlindness and doubles for 900...

If you think you duoed him in PoI, maybe that was just a Defective Clockwork?

To find it, go right after zoning into PoI til you come to an area with 3 open exits, 1 of them being a ramp.
Kill everything, including all roamers that come remotely close. Maybe even clear some more down the hallways to catch any escaped roamers.

I THINK it's on the same spawn table as a roamer GROUP spawn so you have to kill the whole group for the table to recycle. Only observed this group spawn dealy once (Junk beast was the next pop) so I could be wrong.

Junk Beast is fully slowable and hits for double 1k but it's WEAK. On a warrior with 1600 ac, 90 % of the hits were for 140. That's trivial.
The only problem might be adds that join in during an AE blind period (which isnt very long).
Takes a while to smack down but it's really a trivial encounter at 65. And let's face it - if you can get the hope stone (unless you buy one :P) you are 65.

Vhaksiz is a LOT harder (not to mention getting there) and Ratt a lot trickier. This is merely a camp.

I've spent the last 3 days trying to turn this item into the fat troll in PoK after getting my beginners combat manual from him. NO LUCK! He just keeps handing me the items back saying that he has no need for them. I /bug and petitioned it and the answer I got from a GM-ADMIN is that he is the INCORRECT npc to turn the items into but obviously he wouldn't say who to turn it into. Please help!

As it says in the quest write-up above, you give these items to Xasri Virek -- who is an Iksar, not a troll. :)

I have the Beginners Combat Manual and if you hail Xasri Virek (he's standing just on the right side of Zauvudd Gigoth) then he gives you the text for the Intermediate Combat Manual.

So I guess thats the NPC your looking for.
