Note: You can zone into Plane of Torment for experience only at level 55. This quest lets you get in for experience only before that.

You say, 'Hail, Iramai Sacredsoul'

Iramai Sacredsoul says 'Oh, hello. I am sorry, I did not see you approach. I have been giving all of my attention to poor [Phanti] here.'

You say, 'What is wrong with Phanti?

Iramai Sacredsoul says 'A few days ago Phanti started to get very ill, while she was preparing herself for another trip into [Saryrn's domain]. We are not sure exactly was caused her to fall into this malaise, although we do have our [suspicions].'

You say, 'what about Saryrn's domain?'

Iramai Sacredsoul says 'Torment, the Plane of Pain. She was doing some research on the denizens there, should you [help] us, I could grant you and your companions entry. The key will not do Phanti any good for quite some time.'

You say, 'i will help you' (or `what suspicions?')

Iramai Sacredsoul says 'Recently, the portal from the Plane of Disease has been unusually active. People have been reporting strange sounds from around the portal at night, and a few of our trackers have seen strange, almost rodent like, footprints. Our best guess is that one of the denizens of the Plane of Disease managed to make its way into our plane. If this is true, it may explain the unnaturally quick manifestation of the disease. Perhaps, the bile from one of the rodents will help us learn of the cause, and hopefully a cure.'

The Bubonian Bile you need drops off of a named rodent in the caves in Plane of Disease named Rythrak. He does not drop it every time. He is located in the spider/rat cave. Enter the cave, at the first big room hook a left, and he's the first rat spawn on the left as you exit the small tunnel.

It can also drop off Resnak. He has a PH of another a bubonian relak in the tunnel just south of the room Rythrak spawns.

Loot the bile and turn it into Iramai Sacredsoul in the Plane of Tranquility.

Iramai Sacredsoul pours the bile into a small flask, there is a puff of green smoke, which turns white as it floats into the sky. 'This is good news. It appears that this is the cause for her disease, but I have neither the tools, nor the knowledge to create a cure. There is rumor of an indigo orc who may prove useful to us in this area, but he is imprisoned in the Plane of Justice. Ask him about rare diseases. He was known to have cured many, prior to his imprisonment.'

You receive Purified Bubonian Bile from her.

The indigo orc she speaks of is named Brugga, and is indeed imprisoned in the Plane of Justice at /way -710,-110. You need amiable or higher faction standing with Creatures of Justice, and must speak to him with a high proficiency (possibly 100%) in Orcish.

You say, 'Hail, Brugga'

Brugga says, in Orcish, 'Ragh!' His eyes you with pure hatred. 'Indigo, my dark bowels. . . treachery it is, treachery against the clan. Gharol paid! Paid for it!' He shows you his hands and grins maliciously. 'Paid, he did!'

You say, 'What rare disease?'

Brugga snorts. 'You have someone that needs killing, or someone that needs saving? It not matter to Brugga, but you smell of a hero, so Brugga think there someone need saving. Well Brugga have time, so you give Brugga the disease and Brugga see.'

Give him the Purified Bubonian Bile.

Brugga dips his finger into the flask and tastes the liquid, 'Hmm, someone start work on this already and it still vile. This nothing that Brugga have trouble to cure, we just need stronger toxins to drive this one back. Brugga need a gnome made crawlerpoison, a venom sack from the Terror Matriarch, and the stinger from a Nettling Wraith, Brugga make you a cure.'

The "gnomemade crawlerpoison" is Mechanical Clockwork Venom, which drops from the mechanical spiders in the Plane of Innovation. The venom sack drops off of the Terror Matriarch at the spider camp (spawns in between the two consorts) in the Plane of Nightmare. She is a 3-day spawn, hits in the mid 600's, unslowable, spawns a baby spider about every 30 seconds, or at 66% and 33% life. The stinger from a Nettling Wraith is a fairly common drop in the Plane of Nightmare off of Nettling Wraiths. Give all three to Brugga.

Brugga says, in Orcish, 'Yes, Brugga work with this.' Brugga chants and makes strange gestures while mixing the objects in his mortar and pestle. 'Ok, Brugga finished now. You have your cure, give cure with the bile and that will heal. You go now, Brugga done talking.'

You receive a Vial of Opaque Fluid. Return to the Plane of Tranquility and give Iramai the two vials, bile and opaque fluid.

Iramai Sacredsoul says 'Hmm, it looks like I will need both the cure and the purified bile in order to heal Phanti.'

Symbol of Torment has been added to your key ring.

Your group has had keys added to their keyrings!

Iramai Sacredsoul says 'You've done it! Praise the Tranquil! I can already see Phanti's condition improving. Take these, Phanti is not going to be doing any planar exploration any time soon. She was planning on using them to bring her research party into Torment, make good use of them, and stay safe. Thank you again for your help.'

You gain party experience!!

Phanti Sacredsoul stops sweating and a little color returns to her cheeks as Iramai pours the liquid into her mouth.

You get an entry on your /keyring that says, "Phanti's medallion allows passage into Torment, the Plane of Pain."

The bubonian bile in plane of disease can also drop off Resnak.

He has a PH of another a bubonian relak in the tunnel just south of the room Rythrak spawns.

AA and charm upgrade
# Dec 20 2006 at 10:37 PM Rating: Decent
When turned in, everyone grouped with the turn in person gets credit for completing this quest. If not already flagged, this quest does upgrade the charm and grant an AA when you talk to the dorf in PoK. If you get the charm upgrade and AA from this quest, you wont get them again when completing the flagging quest (terris & bert kills). This quest does NOT count as a flag and wont help you towards getting SolRo or EP keyed.
It's a group key.

Ok the individual items are definitely MQable as long as the one you wish to have the items on hands their item in last of all, i had the matriach venom sac on another toon, handed in (you need amiable faction to hand in)camped to my main, handed in the venom & stinger.

Also this flags the whole group.

Bubonian Bile also drops off the other named Rat in the caves.

I was asked to go here a few times by some good players. Too bad this wasn't around back then. I didn't have a guild or the raid key to get into this zone. I heard it was a great zone to exp in and some nice loot here too. Most that exp here also went to EP zones soon because RZTW keys were easy to get if a raid had extras and you were nice enough. TZ and VZ can be one grouped or 2 or 3 grouped. This zone cannot be accessed without a key first. Killing MB in POI was the hardest raid before I entered this zone. Ornate no longer drops here like it used too. That is pretty normal for my progression. They take out the good drops by the time I can get to the zone. RZTW was a fun raid the first 20 times. I have the flag for him now, so not likely to do that raid again. I might do it with an alt though.

Just a question : (i know it's useless)
If you're 55+ (so with Tier 2 access) and you wanna do Grimror and Phanti's Quests (for instance) with some early 50s guys does it grant everybody CoD & Torment access and quests' rewards (& add to /keyring) ?
Brugga's home
# Feb 28 2004 at 11:53 AM Rating: Decent
Does anyone have a loc on Brugga? I am having problems finding good documentation on where he lives. Also, I know he is on creature faction, does anyone have recommendations specific mobs to kill to raise this faction?

Thanks!!

MQable?
# Jan 14 2004 at 11:26 PM Rating: Decent
Is this MQable? Lets say i have the bile from pod and the drop from the big spider in pon, could i turn in the venom/stinger(in the approiate order) to complete this quest?
RE: MQable?
# Feb 27 2004 at 9:35 AM Rating: Default
Well, every item is no drop, and every item is a single turn in, so NO.
RE: MQable?
# Jun 17 2004 at 1:21 AM Rating: Decent
That is quite incorrect. The Mechanical Clockwork Venom, Nettling Wraith Stinger and Terror Matriarch Venom Sack are turned in together, then the Purified Bubonian Bile and Vial of Opaque Fluid are turned in together. I just turned in the Venom and Stinger, while somone else turned in the Venom Sack, and got back the Opaque Fluid as expected.

So there are at least two places where a MQ should be possible, in a few different combinations, and I have just had one work successfully.
Elemental Flags

Some of the planes of PoP have "Experience Only" access. Completing this quest will let you zone into Torment, but that can be done at level 62 (same as BoT). There is also a quest that allows you to zone into Tactics (its in PoStorms). None of the experience quests will let you progress in the flags for the elemental planes. You still need to kill the raid mob. For Torment access you need to kill Terris Thule.

It is a very long journey to gain access to the Ele planes (and its much worse to get to Time (not there yet - still need Rathe Council and Corinav). There are 2 great links to help explain the process for Elemental access - and what a shock - the better of the 2 is right here at Ole Ally's place.

A good explanation of the process is here: http://www.graffe.com/quests.php?id=7 it even has a nice flow chart with pictures showing the planes in order. This chart also has information about this quest and other "XP Only" access. This chart shows the final steps for Time access (much better than the other chart for this part).

You will want to bookmark the following page: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/maps/Planes_of_Power_flags_1_13.gif - Trust me - you will be here frequently. A Word to the wise - When in doubt, Unlock your memories and re-hail people in the sick room in PoTranquility.

Good Luck (you will need it), but also remember to have fun (you will frequently find this process frustrating unless you just joined a Time flagged Guild and are back flagging - then you are a Cad & Mommy dresses you funny =) (Jealous? Moi??? (You Damn Skippy =P.

yes it is a 55+ plane, but if you do this quest you get an aa/charm stats. what the poster above is reffering to is access to the elemental planes which the alt access planes wont let you into.

another way?
# Dec 10 2003 at 7:54 PM Rating: Decent
This sounds a lot like an alternate method. But I can't find info about another way and it does not state an alternate method in the lines above. Is there a raid that can be formed to kill a MOB to gain access to PoTorment (like killing Grummus as opposed to doing Grimror's Bug Collection)? I read elsewhere that you need to kill Bertox in CoD and kill Terris Thule in PoNb but can't find the quest anywhere.

Brugga is on Creatures of Justice faction. You will need to kill the Prisoners of Justice to obtain that faction.

You need amiable faction with Brugga. This is done by killing the prisoners across the hall from the Trials entrance.

It took us about 3 or 4 clears to go from Scowl to Amiable.

If you are a Wood Elf druid, what happens when you can't raise Creatures of Justice faction, no matter how many of the opposing NPCs you kill?

RE: Brugga
# Dec 11 2003 at 12:19 AM Rating: Excellent
To learn orcish go to your class trainer and train one or more points into it. Next find a friend that wants to learn it also and have him do the same thing. Then right click the chat bar, select orcish as a language, and begin speaking to each other. Works fastest if you setup a few different hotkeys and just spam it back and forth to each other.

Clockworka
# Aug 06 2003 at 9:21 AM Rating: Decent
Ok heres the low down the clockwork is harder than it sounds. For starters a 54 BST and 60 DRU 64 WAR and 55 CLR couldn't take him down, My suggestion? Get atleast a group and a half
2 cleric and 2 warrios assign a cleric to a warrior 2 dmg melees (rogue and monk do the trick) And of course ur standard caster barrage 3 or 4 Wizard/Mages/Enchanter should be present and a shaman or druid for buffs. With the combo we took him down no sweat the tanks bounced him around agro wise and the rogues we had dissed out backstabs and the baby spider arent a problem have a monk or another class like SK or necro pull them away until the bigga is down. Well see u in the World of Everquest!

Not quite sure I follow you. I was just soloing at the graveyard in PoI, pulled a spider, killed him, and got the poison. No problem whatsoever for a 62 beast.

Rythrak?
# Jul 15 2003 at 12:30 AM Rating: Decent
10 posts
After 10-12 hours of camping the room down the left tunnel from the first room... We never once saw Rythrak... but a named rodent Resnak spawned and dropped the bile... it wasnt at one of the rat spawns in the room, but past the room in the next tunnel. Theres 4 spawns in the room 3 rats 1 spider, then at the very begining of the tunnel twards the castle theres 2 spiders then 2 rats. Resnak spawned from one of those 2 rats, the furthest I think.

If your lucky none of the spiders will see invis, and you can walk right into the second room and start killing rats, Harmony helps, the spiders are a pain cause of the CHs and fears. I dont suggest tring to pull the castle... if you get close enough to target them theyve prolly agrod... I pulled all 5 and with several repops was a fun fight, up to 8 mobs at once no chanter =) (the rats arnt that hard) 65 shamy, 65 druid, and 3 tanks 55-65, was cake even when I trained my group.

The June 11, 2003 patch changed access to some PoP zones, allowing characters to access them by meeting simple level requirements:

Level 55 and over
-----------------
Plane of Storms
Plane of Torment
Plane of Valor
Crypt of Decay

Level 62 and over
-----------------
Bastion of Thunder
Halls of Honor

Note that this does not remove the flagging requirement for certain quests, e.g., the Aid Grimel series, just the requirement to enter these zones.

I've camped him for a total of maybe 15-20 hours now, and have yet to see him. According to reports, the bile doesn't always drop. Its just such bull what SOE puts us through, for all we know they may have screwed up something and unknowingly broken the spawn. Oh well, at least the uberguilders can get Torment access easily, with one quick raid ... Lol

Edit: The squeaky wheel gets the grease I guess.. About 2 hours after getting frustrated enough to write this reply and leave them a less-than-polite /feedback, the little ******* finally spawned and dropped the bile.

So what kind of firepower do you need to kill the rat that drops the bile? From what I can tell it drops from "a bubonian reslak" which is a placeholder for Rythrak. The big daddy named is Rallius Rattik (the one with all the spider buddies).
