Vicar Ceraen may be found at +115, +930, -30.

You say, 'Hail, Vicar Ceraen'

Vicar Ceraen says 'Greetings, ______. I am Ceraen, priest of Tunare and resident of New Tanaan for over three centuries of my existence. Do not fear those whom may have been your enemy upon the prime. The scholars are equal and without bias toward one another, thus there is no safer place in the cosmos than New Tanaan. Each resident strives to bring knowledge closer to the curious and willing, and I am not exempt from this. If you are a priest in your world and seek to gain a higher understanding of the divine power that your faith has allowed you to wield, then perhaps what spells I have penned from memory of your world would be of use. I have also mastered levels in the workings of planar magic and its chaotic ways of forming upon the manifested planes. If by chance you come across a fledgling arcane item -- you will know it for its incorporeal state -- then do not hesitate to bring it to me. I may be able to infuse it with the powers of the divine and forge from it a spell of priestly might.'

Hand in Ethereal and Spectral Parchments and Glyphed Rune Words to Vicar Ceraen for a random spell.

Ethereal Parchments give level 61 and 62 spells.
Spectral Parchments give level 63 and 64 spells.
Glyphed Rune Words give level 65 spells.

61 - Spell: Faith
61 - Spell: Symbol of Kazad
61 - Spell: Tarnation
61 - Spell: Ward of Gallantry
62 - Spell: Blessing of Reverence
62 - Spell: Condemnation
62 - Spell: Greater Immobilize
62 - Spell: Sermon of Penitence
62 - Spell: Supernal Elixir
62 - Spell: Virtue
63 - Spell: Hammer of Damnation
63 - Spell: Kazad's Mark
63 - Spell: Sound of Might
63 - Spell: Supernal Light
64 - Spell: Catastrophe
64 - Spell: Destroy Undead
64 - Spell: Mark of Kings
64 - Spell: Petrifying Earth
64 - Spell: Word of Replenishment
65 - Spell: Armor of the Zealot
65 - Spell: Hand of Virtue
65 - Spell: Mark of the Righteous
65 - Spell: Pacification
65 - Spell: Yaulp VI
65 - Spell: the Silent Command

Vicar Ceraen takes the arcane item with great care and respect from you. For several moments the priest seems to enter a state of contemplative meditiation upon the arcane planar item. Suddenly, he begins a slow, soft chant -- a prayer whose dialect is unknown to your ears. Eventually, the arcane item in his hand begins to waver into this existence, its corporeal state rendered beneath the priest's chanting. As he grows quiet and calm once more, the priest hands the corporeal item to you -- the runes of divine power etched upon the tangible scroll, 'This should be of great use to you, ______. Use its power wisely.'

You give them to the same NPC. I've updated the quest to be more specific on this score.
Supernal Remedy
# Jun 01 2004 at 1:14 PM Rating: Excellent
Supernal Remedy is sold by Vicar Ceraen in the POK Library it does NOT require an EP turn-in to obtain. You can buy this for 305pp and some change from Vicar Ceraen. If you do not believe this post GREAT! be skeptical and check Vicar Ceraen's stock of this spell before you give your local bazaar scammer your hard earned pp for this spell.

With 130 charisma I was able to work the price down to 251 plat and some change. Thanks for the suggestion to check the Vicar!

How Many?
# May 21 2004 at 8:14 AM Rating: Decent
Does it matter how many items you turn in? For example, do I need to turn in one at a time, in pairs, three at a time? And If so, does the number of items you turn in have any bearing on the spell you get?
level requirement?
# Jan 21 2004 at 11:55 AM Rating: Default
can I turn these things in as a level 60? or do I have to be 61? Also, can a cleric turn in parchments to...say the enchanter guy and get enchanter spells?

You can turn these in at level 46, and can turn in for any class' spells.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 26 2004 at 11:46 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Wrong. You only receive spells of your class, not for everyone else.
RE: level requirement?
# Jun 19 2004 at 5:43 PM Rating: Default
nooooo your wrong! you get whatever class you turned the spell in to. lets say you give it to the ranger guy you WILL get a ranger spell. If you give it the the cleric guy you WILL get a cleric spell. It really does not matter what class you are.

rare spell reward HoV
# Oct 25 2003 at 7:42 PM Rating: Decent
turned in 2 runes and have gotten Yaulp VI (gave to a friend that needed it) and Armor of the Zealot. sold for 30k on Inny. trying to get the all mighty HoV but i think that it might be a rare turn-in reward or something. has anyone been tracking the number of runes they turn in for the reward spell? might be interesting to see what it brings.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 23 2003 at 6:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I hate copies! Have turned in 2 Glyphed Rune Words, very hard to get, and both have resulted in the SAME DAMN SPELL I ALREADY GOT!!!!! The crappy *** DS!!! OMFG I HATE THIS GAME!

For those of you who have gotten "Pacification" the lvl 65 lull spell, or "Petrifying Earth" the lvl 64 root from an Ethereal Parchment turn in, don't worry, it's not a bug. Pacification is a lvl 62 enchanter spell, and Petrifying Earth is a lvl 62 necro spell. Because it would have been unfair to have one class's Ethereal Parchments resulting in the same spell as another class's Glyphed Rune Words or Spectral Parchments, Verant or Sony (whoever was in power in the month after PoP came out) standardized the turn ins. Now the lowest lvl parchment is used for spell turn ins. In other words, since Pacification comes up in the lvl 62 enchanter's lineup, it's on Ethereal Parchments for clerics as well.

I handed in a Ethereal Parchment and got a lvl 65 pacification spell,so it seems the ethereal= 61 62 spells is incorrect.

# Sep 13 2003 at 5:53 PM Rating: Default
you got that spell because it ALSO serves as a lvl 62 spell for enchanters, you can get it with ethereal even if it is 65 for you, because it is 62 for another class, you could NEVER get, say, Hand of Virtue this way

okies, I just need someone to possiably answer a question. My cleric is lvl 53 if he turned in a ethereal parchment would he get the spell or would the guild master hand it back saying i am not of certian level yet or would he just take it and laugh? If someone could help me out and answer my question, I would rather have a spell in the bank to make a goal of getting the level to use the spell.

Doesn't matter who does the turning in. Sometimes our guild officers turn in parchments for people who were awarded them during a raid but didn't have time to loot. They just turn them into the right class of guildmaster. Level is totally dependent on the type of parchment not the player turning in.

The parchments drop in PoP zones, the higher level parchment, the higher tier plane, for the most part. Ex: Etheral Parchments drop in Plane of Justice (tier 1), and Spectral Parchments drop in Plane of Valor (tier 2). Btw- this is not a steadfast rule, just the most common (as far as I have seen, I have been told that the tier 1 boss mobs can drop high level parchments, yet I have not been able to confirm it), and it is not limited to those two planes.

Do I have to turn in one of each (Ethereal and Spectral), or just one or the other? Or how many of each if more than one is needed.

I turned in a couple of the Ethereal Parchments the other day. I received lvl 62 (Condemnation) and lvl 64 (Catastrophe) spells. I am aboslutely positive they were both Ethereal parchments, so I suppose the spell levels are not set in stone.

That is because Catastrophe is a level 61 Druid spell. A few months after PoP release, it was patched so that the lowest level of all classes that can use the spell determines which type of parchment is needed.
RE: Spell Levels
# Oct 29 2002 at 5:19 PM Rating: Default
Ok, according to your info then i need only turn in one parchment per spell, not one of each kind. For example one ethereal parchment for a random lvl 61-62 spell. Is this correct?

Yes, you hand in only one parchment and you will receive a random spell in return (lvl spell depends upon the type of parchment, as listed above).

Great 2 ethereal parchments turned in I get one 64 spell and one 65 spell (cause other classes can use at 62). I am almost 61 and have no spells...Guess I will keep leveling and looking for more parchments : (
