You can only do this quest with a single group. Completing this quest (or any of the other trials) will give you access to the Plane of Storms and the Plane of Valor.

Talk to Mavuin in the basement cellblock.

You say, 'Hail, Mavuin'

Mavuin strains his eyes to look up at you in disbelief, then reaches down into a rusted vent and pulls out a journal. 'Please I implore you, take word to the Tribunal. I have done nothing wrong, yet I have been sentenced to eternity in this cell. I wish to present all of the [information] about my case to them. They must listen to my plea if they are truly the gods of justice.'

You say, 'What information?'

Mavuin tells you, 'I know it has been said for years before me, and will be said for years after me, but I was truly framed for my crime. You see the gods feared the knowledge that I carry with me. So to prevent me passing this knowledge to others, it was set up to show that I had plotted to murder one of the other elders. Please go before the tribunal and plead my case. If you do this I will share what I know with you, I apologize for holding it against you, but I am desperate to be released.'

You have received a character flag!

Head to the area with The Tribunal, and ask them about Mavuin. Following the dialog, saying "I am prepared" to each Tribunal will give you description of the six trials.

To do this one, say "I am ready to begin the Trial of Lashing". Make sure you are actually prepared when you say that because your group will be teleported to the event area where you will only get a few seconds before things start.

You start in a room with 3 exits. To the left and right are two little cubbies down some stairs and behind is a stairway up. Basically, 4 mobs spawn, razorbeasts hit for 360 max, stone guys hit for 450. Approach it like the other trial where you mez them all and target one to kill. Approximately 40 seconds after spawn an untargetable mob called "a scourge of honor" spawns and will agro and hit for 208 max I believe. When this spawns, 3 flickering spirits spawn, one upstairs and one in each of the two cubbies. If you kill these three spirits, the scourge despawns. Once the scourge is down, finish killing the 4 mobs to complete 1 wave. When the next wave spawns, send your killer upstairs to prepare for the spirit. Rinse and repeat this tactic through the first 3 waves. On the fourth wave, DO NOT kill all 3 spirits until all of the 4 mobs spawn. You will have to deal with the scourge while killing the 4 mobs, however when you kill the 3 spirits, the boss named "Lashman Azakal" will spawn, regardless of if the 4 mobs are up or not.

Kill the boss to loot the Mark of Lashing.

Now talk to the Tribunal.

You say, 'What evidence of Mavuin?'

You have received a character flag!

The Tribunal tells you, 'You have completed a trial - impressive for mortals. You can tell Mavuin that we will hear his plea. We will seek him out as time befits us.'

Head back down and talk to Mavuin.

You say, 'Hail, Mavuin'

Mavuin tells you, 'So you have pleaded my case to the Tribunal, I am most thankful. I hope that they will listen to my case soon and release me. The knowledge that I promised you is this. The followers in the Plane of Tranquility are trying to find information on what has happened to Zebuxoruk. What I know is that he has been captured for a second time. If you want to find out more information I believe you should seek an audience with Karana and Mithaniel Marr. I can only assume that they were present at the time of his capture and know why this has taken place. Also seek from Marr a way to translate the divine language. Only with it can you understand the writing of the gods. There is no more that I can tell you, but thank you once again for your attempt in returning my freedom.'

You have received a character flag!

This will flag you to be able to enter the Plane of Storms and the Plane of Valor.

Need missing dialogues, /loc of quest mobs.

Tough one to box at 65 because of so much to keep track off. The flickering spirits aren't really instant kills for any class, especially not tanks, so if you send your tank after them and the next wave spawns while he's still busy with them, the four-pack of trash is going to aggro onto the rest of the group. Even for a caster the flickering spirits are not instant kills. My druid had to nuke 3-4x per spirit to kill them. Some have claimed they have only 1k HPs but this is a big under-estimate. It's true they don't hit HARD which means anyone can solo them but for any one player it takes 30-60 seconds to kill and during a timed trial, that's a long stretch to have one player away from the main task.

I was able to despawn the first scourge of honor but things got too hectic after that and at one point I had TWO of them up at once. The good news is that the four-pack of mobs appeared to all be mezzable with enchanter FASCINATION aoe spell, so it was easier to just tolerate the two scourges wacking on our group while we tackled the four-packs one after the other. The scourges focused on the cleric, probably because he was spot-healing and it helped to have a druid to keep the cleric alive. Used both group and cleric group heals, that helped a lot too.

Fortunately, when the boss spawned, the two scourges despawned! Never saw mention of this! Was actually quite a relief to see the boss pop! Like all the trial bosses, he's not much of a challenge, not after the relief of clearing the four rounds of trash mobs plus each trial's particularly special annoyances.

One more trial to go... TORTURE. Hope it won't be too torturous...

He's the untargetable spawn that comes in after the first mob is killed of each wave. You can update the name above now...

The whole thing with this trial is to keep the prisoners alive and deal with the scourge, He does not hit that hard. Once you kill the 4 mobs you need to find the spirit with the most hp kill that and it will despawn scourge you do not have to kill all of them. Then wait a few and the next wave will begin. Simple... Goodluck to everyone.

They say its fixed, it is do-able but i think it is still broken. all 3 spirits spawn green, two have around 500 hps and one has around 7k hps. I did it twice today and it was this way on both.

Time/GoD/DoD group tried this today, we could not defeat the new L70 spirit, and after a while the trial despawned and we lost. our group redid the trial several times and tried everything (leaving the 4 spawns alone, kill only the greens, burn the white, kill everything, kill nothing) and every time, after a short time (less than a minute) the Scourge, the spirits and the prisoners despawn, and occasionally we get the failure message.

Stupid Question....

As far as rewards, we didn't see a one. Do these drops off the creatures during the trial? It says these items are quested. I guess they link em here since they are during a trial. I completed this trial last night and I didn't see anything but the mark of lashing drop. Wheres my Hammer Bro's Hammer?

We did this as a guild group with the following classes all level 65. 2 rangers, rogue, cleric, necro and an enchanter. Our ranger (me) has 5850 hps and was MT. Other ranger was in charge of secondary aggro and rooting mobs while cleric healed and chanter mez'd. We basically split the group in 2. I took left side with rog and necro and chanter with DC pet took the right side. When they spawned I got aggro asap and we picked them off 1 by one...after the lashing started other ranger broke off and killed the spirits while we continued fighting. Mezzing seems to get abit harder as the waves progress...the last waves seems pretty magic resistant but nothing solid to post on that yet. We got to the last wave and killed 1 mob and the last set of spirit spawned. When ranger killed them off we had all other mobs mez'd and boss charged us. I got aggro pretty quick and he was pounding me for 720's with a 200 DD spell called Thunder clap I believe. Not sure if my epic got it slowed or chanter but we got the boss to 90% and I hit WS while we got the cheal pattern up and going. WS wore off about 50% and necro lifeburned boss. At about 5% I didnt take off attack and bit it from the enrage. Was the funnest trial I have done so far. I got double rez'd back into trial and we finished off last few mobs and looted boss. Replace a ranger with a war/pal/sk and it may have been a little bit easier.

From the 2 times that I tried the trial of Lashing, I believe that you only need to kill one of the 3 spirits but it has to be the right one. It may change which one each time though. For the first round we killed the middle spirit and the other two despawned along with the Scourge. I don't remember which one we killed on the second or third rounds though..I'll post most as I find out
This trial is SO EASY

Ok here's the down and dirty on the trial of lashing. Mind you, this trial is not for level 53's that want access to POS/POV that is what execution is for, but if you have put together an elite team for trials clearing, this strat guide is for you.
First off you port into a rectangular room with 3 exits and some prisoners on the back wall. Position your team dead center against the wall with the prisoners with your tank at either side. Shortly after port in, 4 mobs will spawn ALL of which are mezzable. Have your enchanter mezz 3 of them while the rest of the group lays into one. About the time that the first mob dies, an Untargettable Whip bearing dark elf spawns and starts smacking the group for around 200 a swipe. Also at the time UP to 3 Perma Rooted spirits spawn in the center of the 3 side rooms. The Spirits only have like 1k hp... and killing the spirits makes the whipper go bye bye. Send your highest DPS person (ranger or monk) after the spirits while the rest of your group never faulters from clearing the 4 mobs. We never had the whipper around for more than 15 seconds as the spirits die in 2 to 3 shots from a good 65 ranger. The spawn time between waves is incredibly long and we never had trouble clearing all 4 mobs and all 3 spirits and still had up to 30 seconds of down time between waves.
NOW the strat guide is WRONG about the 4th wave. For wave # 4 - start as usual. Mezz 3, kill one but this time do NOT start on another mob.... Keep them mezzed and wait the 5 seconds or so for the whipper to spawn and have your High DPS ranger or monk once again kill the spirits and trigger the boss. Lay into the boss and kill him THEN kill the remaining 3 mezzed mobs.
As a 65 chanter I was able to mezz all the normal mobs with the level 49 dazzle spell and on the rare occasion I got a named, Sleep landed every time on the nameds.
If you don't panic and follow my strat guide, this might very well be the easiest trial yet.

Good Luck,

Whom Everr 65 Enchanter of Quellious.

When you enter the trial, you find yourself with your back to a wall in a rectangular arena. Directly behind you are three small rooms. In front of you, all the way across the arena, is a long wall with ogres lined up against it.

To save you all from future problems, don't make the same mistakes I have witnessed:

The one major mistake is bad group placement. The one time we went deep into the trial, the party stayed clear of the wall with the ogres. The MA stayed in the center of the room and thus agroed mobs as soon as they spawned. Mobs here seem to agro by proximity, so keep party members clear of the center of the arena.

Also, the "a scourge of honor" seems to pop near the stairs leading to the middle room. Keeping party members clear of this area will ensure that no casters get smacked by this crature.

Despite the name, "a scourge of honor" has the graphic of a Dark Elven male, not of some big ugly monster. It came as a surprise the first time we did the trial, since we were not looking for a DE to signal his arrival. He blended into the battle, causing damage, before we realized it wasn't a party member and that it was hostile.

The last time I attempted this trial, something happened that I had never seen before. This time, mobs started to attack the ogres! I did not see this before, and was not sure how long the ogres could last, or if the trial is over once one (or all) of the ogres dies. In this case, I ran over to agro the creature, and ran out of range of CH. We wiped after that.

Last thing, we have tried all sorts of methods for crowd control; root, fear, snare, ghetto mez (necro), stun, etc., and nothing worked. You must have an enchanter or a bard here for crowd control, or it will be complete chaos.

You have 40 seconds after the first wave spawns mez all of them and kill one at a time have 1 person goto the top of the stairs and wait for the spirit to spawn.
2 spirits total spawn kill them both to get rid of scourge of honor. Kill the rest of the regular spawns of wave 1, If you dont you have to kill another wave just like wave one its on a timer.
AOE group is doable here as group wipes out the waves and one goes out and kills the spirits.
Not a easy trial to do but its not as hard as some of the others.

question

Ok if you kill the 3 side guys that despawn the scourge of honor but does that start the second wave or can you keep one mez and rest and med while an enchanter keep it mezd. This giving group time to rest up for next wave. If so a tank and cleric to kill off mobs while enchanter mezs other 3 one kill at a time and 3 nukers kill side mobs untill last wave then last wave enchanter keeps add mezd while rest of group nukes the head guy. this to me sounds rather easy if this is how spawns come compared to other trials.

Three invisible-looking NPCs spawn in each of the 3 off-shoot rooms. Each have ~500 hps. If you kill all 3 of these mobs, the scourge of honor despawns.

Also FYI scourge of honor hits for 500 max and flurries. You should likely designate one group member to run from room to room killing the three mobs for the Scourge -- and yes, these power source mobs respawn too.

All the trials give access to the first two 2nd tier plane: Storm and Valor.

One more info: "a scourge of honor" spawns with the first wave, too. It is untargetable, hits for 400+.
