This quest begins in the Plane of Knowledge on the good side. At one of the pools you will find Tratlan Jowyr and Wicas Adaolath.

You say, 'Hail, Tratlan Jowyr'

Tratlan Jowyr looks deeply into the pool in front of him, 'Well darn it! I still can't see anything in this blasted [pool], can you Wicas?'

Wicas Adaolath says 'Nothing at all. Do you think that he led us astray?'

You say, 'What pool?'

Tratlan Jowyr glances up at you like he just noticed your presence, 'This pool. There is supposed to be strong [magic] in it.'

You say, 'What magic?'

Tratlan Jowyr says 'Scrying magic. These pools can supposedly glance into all of the knowledge past, present, and future.'

Wicas Adaolath says 'I think we should just do what [Tarerd] wants us to do.'

You say, 'Who is Tarerd?'

Wicas Adaolath says 'Tarerd is the one who told us about these pools. He wanted us to kill some sort of lizards for him, but we have neither the time nor energy for such adventures. Perhaps you can get some information about the pools from him.'

Tarerd Gahar is at another nearby pool.

You say, 'Hail, Tarerd Gahar'

Tarerd Gahar says 'I'm sorry, I have neither the time nor the patience to chat right now.'

You say, 'Tell me about the pool'

Tarerd Gahar says 'Oh Tatlan and Wicas sent you did they? I'll tell you what I told them, nothing is free. If you want to know about the pools then I need something [from you] first.'

You say, 'What do you want from me?'

Tarerd Gahar says 'I'm sure it'll be easy for an adventurer as you. I am working on a potion, and I cannot currently travel to gather my last component. If you could bring me the blood of a Sarnak I'd be willing to share what I know.'

Sarnak Blood is of course a random drop from nearly any Sarnak. You can probably find one at a merchant for sale.

When you have it give it to Tarerd Gahar.

Tarerd Gahar says 'Ahh this is exactly what I was looking for. All the information I've gathered from these pools has come from Myrist. Thiran will give you the book I used as a reference. Give him this note so he knows I sent you'

Thiran is a Vicar he's on the first basement floor of the basement (go down one lvl when you enter.)

You say, 'Hail, Vicar Thiran'

Vicar Thiran says 'A dark day to you. New Tanaan has opened its arms to all of Norrath's travelers and scholars alike -- though still I doubt most are worthy of our infinite and unsurpassed knowledge. In any case, we all must uphold the laws of our city, else we become as debased and pathetic as the secular, warring cultures of the material universe. You will find that, despite the medium of our birth or the shadow of faith in our hearts, we are all equally tolerant of each being to approach us. Though I myself am no stranger to the duties of a mentor, I do not think that at this juncture, I would provide any useful assistance to any not of the many clergies associated with the pantheon. If you do indeed serve one of the gods of Nature and Influence, then my services may not prove a waste of our collective time. Search my inventory at your will, and purchase what you wish should you find anything of use to you at this point in your life of service.'

Give him the note:

Vicar Thiran quickly reads the note, and says 'Tarerd wants me to give you that book? I thought he wanted me to keep it secret. Well no matter.' Thiran rummages through the books in front of him. 'Well this is unfortunate. It looks like I loaned my friend the incorrect book. I'm not sure where he's gone off to, here is the book he was looking for. If you happen to run into Jeren Manri anywhere, he'll probably exchange this book for the book on the scrying pools.'

Thiran gives you a book Goblins and their religion. This is the only clue as to where Jeren Manri is: In the Temple of Droga. His loc is +473.95, +1747.91, -252.16. Its a very tiny room really a tunnel with fake walls on each end.

Hail, Jeren Manri'

Jeren Manri says 'Shhh, be quiet! The goblins may hear you.'

Give him the book that Thiran gave you:

Jeren Manri says 'Oh! Thank you, I assume this means that Thiran sent you. I ran off with the incorrect book without thinking to check. Would you be kind enough to return this to him?'

You actually do not return it to Thiran, the book has 5 charges of bind sight, but dont panic, thats not the end. Go back to the very first guy you talked to, Tratlan Jowyr back in Plane of Knowledge, Good Side. Give him the book:

Tratlan Jowyr leafs quickly through the book. 'Thank you, it will take quite some time to go through all the information here. Here is a little something for your troubles.'

You gain party experience!!

And your reward is the:

Fine Cut, Diamond Inlaid Mask.

WHOOO HOOO! got my mask last night I posted some info on my 1st attempt that should be good info for any wanting to do this quest.

How did you do it you ask?
Eeasy got killed doing it wrong the first time and on two corpse runs and learned lol.

Now seriously here is my info on the quest.

1: get copy of temple maps. (NOTE; the NPC for Turn in is where I right where is has been said he would be area 3 on inner sanctum map behind a flase wall there is a ugly baddun (RED) there and I have see second ugly baddun (RED) pop even closer to the false wall O_o through the tiny hole the NPC is in leads to area 2 and a pool room there were like 8 ugly Badduns in the room but not as bad (DRK BLUE)

2: get invis ability (note that I used 5 bottles of Cloud potion they do not always last the full 20 min) I also had a Mantle of Stealtth used one charge from that which does last the full 20.

3.WHERE TO STAND FOR TURN IN! this is the single most important part of the entire quest.
The first time I tried the standing directly on the NPC this got my toon an amazing one hit death(actually I belive the Goblin just looked at my toon and it died dont think it actually hit me at all) he heh.
At any rate when I went back to loot my corpse I was standing between the NPC and the wall NPC on my right wall on my left facing same direction as NPC and just a tad to past him. we will call this (THE SWEET SPOT) there are others who have posted this same info and it is the only place you need to wory about.

4:NOTE ON INVIS. there was a statement on the EQ Atlas that there are no mobs that can see invis in this entire zone I can con firm that is a correct and true statement as I was all over the temple past every mob static and wandering there mapping my routes with no trouble.

this being said I would tell you to keep youe items window open if using potions to go invis as they do run short keep a close eye on your chat window as soon as you see (You Begin to feel yourself appear clk the next invis devise you have I used 5 potion befor one of my Mantel of Stealth charges(WHICH DO LAST FULL 20 min) the reinvis magic effects are not seen by anyof the mobs I did this right in front of several mobs more that once.

5. The way out I simply followed the the map and followed the tunnels west to the track tunnel that leads north & out to the zone.(remember when you get to the end where you are bout to zone stay to the right the false flooe is there to your left)

6.ne thing I also reccomend is that you get a spitir sight cast if you do not allready posses one this allows you to see your self while you are invis really helps to insure your toon is in THE SWEET SPOT for the turn in.

I also agree with thoes that say use you lowbies to run this quest as there is no corpse run required below level 10 just invis to sweet spot turn in and run out all happy get toon killed spawn at bind point with new toy weeee.

Also at the entrance if you have SoW you can make a run for the zone inside the doorway and go invis once you zone the but stay in the hill there once you zone to get all your casting done there is a static mob just in the 1st room befor the false floor. (BE WARNED! THE UGLY BADDUN GUARD MOBD'S HIT HARD)

Don't count on the Mantle of Stealth lasting the full duration. Only an item with an Improved Invis effect would do that... haven't seen any like that myself.

Just a couple things to add to Hanzivan's post. It's really handy to either bring a druid along or buy a sow&gate or equivelant potion(s). This makes it so you can invis run to the npc real quick like, and just port/gate out. Its also a good idea to pick up one of those mage summoned items with faerune on it both for the see invis and because there are parts of the temple that aren't too well lit. Other than that just follow Hanzivan's guide and the quest is cake.

Things seem different...

I tried to do this quest today with my level 16 Wizard alt. Wanted that Spell Haste 2 for him! I didn't think I'd have any problem because I did this quest successfully with my mage many months ago. Things seem to have changed!

First, about halfway down the tunnels there seemed to be a see invis mob - I think it was a goblin stone mystic (possibly goblin earth mystic). There was a message, something like 'Your soul shall be mine'. Invis was definitely still up and, because I hadn't been hit I just kept on running past the goblins. I sure had the feeling that something was chasing me but I wasn't gonna look back!

Second, when you get to the secret room, there are now some static mobs right in front of it which I don't remember seeing the first time. Before, there was time to gate out, but now I think these see you as soon as invis drops when you do the hand in.

Anyway, as I was about to do the turn in, my Wizzie succumbed to a 1024 HP blast from a goblin bone depredator - providing me with a ticket out and a plate to put it on!. I didn't get as far as gettting the trade window up, so I didn't get the book I needed.

Can anyone confirm any of this?

Obviously you would have had a train following you as you ran in if anything really saw you invis. You would have died long before dropping invis to do the hand-in.

I just did this quest last night with my 42 SK. After reading all the posts about this being easy I have only one thing to say, YEAH RIGHT. For any body getting ready to do this quest the Temple is 50+ and was easy to low lvl guys because you can just run to the turn in point and die. For those toons that are at a higher lvl you need to have a great group or someone to port you out because, if by miracle chance you make to Jeren your not gonna make it out by running to the zone cause its even farther than the run there.
I was lucky though. When I zoned in i ran and stayed to the right like all the posts said. I fell down a hole to another tunnel and my invis ran out. I wasn't sure how far it was to Jeren so I made my way down the tunnel and ran into a 65 CLR and a 65 Mage. They lead me to Jeren which was deep inside the temple and alot of mobs. With them fighting about 15 mobs it took about an hour to get to Jeren. Once I did the trade the mage made me an item that ported me back to PoK.

I also did it with my lvl 25 cleric. I have port and if ya don't buy a gate potion. If your worried about a CR leave all your gear in the bank. You can always get someone to summon your corpse to entrance anyway.

Key to this zone is invis or camo. You can get to the turn in mob no problem with either. Now with the most recent patch you know exactly how much you have left on your invis. Bring a cloudy potion to be safe as its instant cast click invis.

My lvl 5 wizzy also just did this quest again today. No aggro and no difficulties turning into the mob. There should be a map of the zone (if ya don't have one go to eqtoolbox.com and download one) so its really not hard to get lost here.

Oh side note: Not once have I just let myself die no matter what lvl my char was. I always have been able to gate out.

He is located in the safe room and both entrances to him are illusionary walls. See my earlier post for other details on quest.

Just as a note, the time remaining on invis in the buff window is a maximum. I've definitely seen it drop before the time ran out.

Level 5, what piece of cake quest. Paid 1p for the sarnak blood, got a free SoW, and bought 2 cloudy potion. Take stone to OT, run to Frontier Mountains, then enter the Temple of Drolga. Jeren is in the west side of the zone. 15p investment, I got Spell Haste II.. what a steal.

Great quest for my lvl 14 froggy shammy. Load up on the cloudy potions, SoW, Lev and run froggy run (as you learned so well in the Swamp). I made it the first time. Having droga downloaded map from EQAtlas was highly useful. One does stay to the right, but you will need to, confusingly, run along the walls of a couple large rooms for a bit and down a few dead-ends.
Quest Complete!

Completed this quest with my 35 Ranger today. Having a good invis spell in this zone is A MUST!! Don't make the same mistake that I did and wander in there with camo enabled and forget halfway down that it can't be cast indoors.

I had to fetch my corpse out of there twice, but the mask was well worth it.

This is an excellent quest for any low level player to do. If over level 9 however be sure to put everything in the bank just in case you do die.

1.) Pick up a Sanark Blood from a.) a friend b.)bazaar (got mine for 5 gold) c.) could get lucky and get one off of vendor

2.) Give Sanark Blood to Tarerd Gahar who's sitting all alone at the magic pool on the good side of POK.

3.) He'll give you a "Note From Tarerd" whom you'll give to Vicar Thiran in the great library.

4.) Vicar Thiran is one story up from the main floor and is the dark elf selling cleric spells. Vicar Thiran will give you a book called "Goblins and Their Religions".

5.) With the book head to Drogma. a.) Take overthere stone on the evil side of POK. After zonining into the overthere head south and zone into the Frontier Mts. It's a pretty good run so I reccomend a sow and of course invis, assuming your a low level. b.) once zoning into Frontier stay to the right and zone into Drogma. I reccomend looking at the map at eqatlas for familiarity.

6.) basically stay to the right and you'll reach Jeren Manri. once again use the map on eqatlas. Jeren Manri is located at number 3 on the "Inner Sanctum" map. There are goblins just oustide the hidden area but if you stand right on top of Jeren you don't have to worry they wont aggro you. just do the turn in and cast gate.

Remember to stay invised the whole time. It's a rush running through the tunnels to get to him holding your breath and praying invis sticks.. Excellent quest.

There are two [MUST DO quests for all caster class newbies and this is one of them.

The second MUST DO quest is the Holly Longtail's Replacement Parts (also in POK).  Considering that all of the items can be bought from the Bazaar, makes it a must!

Jeren is in a secret room. The first time I did this quest it felt like it was taking forever to get there. Just hug the right hand wall and eventually you will walk straight through the wall into the room.

how to survive
# Feb 04 2004 at 6:20 PM Rating: Decent
For those of us past level 10 that have to survive the turn in, the secret is getting as close to Jeren as possible. The mobs in Droga have a very low agro radius, and the ones on the sides of the hidden wall won't agro you if you stand on top of him doing the turn in. If you stand too far from him ("normal" distance) you'll be killed - I know from experience. hehe.
finished quest with level 8 enc
# Feb 04 2004 at 10:34 AM Rating: Decent
I finished this quest with my level 8 enc. i had sow and invis but be careful because if you are looking at map every couple of seconds as they add up and invis will run out on you. i dont know about every1 else but for me invis lasted anywhere between 2-10 min, dont know why that was just in my case. very sure it was the spell that kept running out on me too. I died about 3 times, 2 by gobbies when invis ran out and no safe place to recast, and another by falling into trap when i got lost. the fourth time i made sure every safe place i got to (which was usualy in a hallway between gobbies) i recast invis. i did what an earlier post advised and got real close to the guy, as close as possible, and did the turn in. got no aggro from gobbies and cast gate as soon as i was through. i plan to go back and walk through the area especially the exit to get a feel for it when i go with my other non caster alts. im gonna get invis and run through there like a bat outa hell and to od that in there takes lots of experience time before hand to know which turns to make etc. ill keep readers posted when i make my subsequent trips.
Wow - that was fun
# Feb 01 2004 at 5:07 AM Rating: Decent
Hi all!

I just finished this quest...it took me a little while as i was being cautious about the 50+ levels in the temple.

I am a level 30 Paladin...so no chance in heck of soloing it unless i relied on creeping in and creeping and I AM GALD I DIDNT.

I highly recommend a group going firstly cause you all can do the quest - secondly, as a tank i could take damage longer albiet not much - lastly it was more fun this way and we got paryt experience for it (at least 1 maybe two tellow notches-hey exp is exp).

We took a 30 Pally 31 Wiz 29 Enc. We ran the whole way and zoned in Frontier Mountains. I healed everyone from the adds. We got invisibility and then took off hunging right straight to the entrance. One mistake is redo your SoW before going in - makes thigns easier. We used Auto Follow -dont we lost a member on the way and had to regroup. Everyone was scared enough of all the red...hadnt seen that much since lvls 1-10 :). Eventually we found the spot - actually ran right through it. Three of us fit in the room no problem. We took turns with the books going tanks then spelly with gate and then the rest. NO AGGRO thank god and we were not invisible for at least 15-30 sec and yes you will count at this level or lower. I was a bit unhappy he gives the wrong advice as I was worried we had done something wrong...i dont like tospoil endings so left reading last two lines above- bad idea. We found the guy and gathered and all received exp. It took 1/2 for the spells like SoW and Temp (just in case) and to just get organized. It took 5 min to get the first book and about 1/2 hour to get the second.

I highly recommend this - the mask is still usable for many at this level (assuming you havent made a killing somehow legal or not). I made two new lvling partners and spellies at that. And we had a blast talking about it for 1/2 hour afterwards - Lots more fun then just bashing for lvls but back too it as the exp isnt enough to feed a newbie level.

This quest can still be done as a level 1. You will need to purchase at least 2-3 cloudy potions from the potion vendor by the PoT rock in PoK. Then bind in PoK at the Soul Binder.

Get SoWed up. Zone into the Overthere via the evil side of PoK. Run due south to the frontier mountains, dont stop or you will end up squished.

After zoning into Frontier mountains, run towards Droga. If you have more than 100 HP or so just plow through the goblins gaurding the ent. Otherwise use one of your potions.

Once inside Droga head SouthWest through the tunnels until you get to the secret room, use one of the fine maps posted here to avoid getting lost.

Nothing saw invis both times I ran this. Stand directly behind the NPC for the turn in. When you try to do the turn in Invis will drop, Most likely you will get smashed into oblivian before completing it.

When you respawn hurry up and do the run again, the goblin that killed you will not reset. He should be standing by the other goblin. You can now stand on the oppisite side of the NPC and do the turn in without getting smashed. After turning in the book, get Backstabbed for 583 damage and a free ride back to PoK to get your new mask :D

Jeren is in a small room that the gobbies can't see into so as long as you are completely in the room you won't get aggroed when invis drops.

did it with my 12 chanter in about 15 minutes. got a sow and a clarity.. went naked (left everything in bank).. ran invis. refreshed it just to be safe once i zoned in temple. LoY maps made it a breeze. ran up, dropped invis, handed over the book and gated out. no one bothered me once.

Aye, even without an invis spell, you can purchase several instant cast invis potions for 11pp and do the run. I've done this quest several times for alts before they hit 11 because if you die, you don't lose any exp nor do you have to do a corpse run. You just run back and try again but there's little risk with instant cast invis potions. The quest is only worth about 25% exp at lvl 1, if anyone is wondering.

I was able to do this with my 33 Enchanter, the trick is to keep invisible up and hug the right hand side of the wall once you get into the temple. Once you go through the wall and into the secret room where Jeren is, get up behind him, and I do mean right up behind him! As close as you can get, and by all means, do not hail him! If you hail him the goblins will rush in. But anyway, after you get right up behind him, drop your invis, and give him the book, then gate out, or you can reinvis, and walk your way back out. Good luck!

I tried this quest and got hosed. I am not going to rate it as I never finished. I am level 47 and the gobbys and spiders had me for lunch. I had to have an SK summon me out of there. This quest would probably be good if you had invis, sow and gate, but all I had was sow and sneak.

go back when you're 49, which is when BST get their invis spell. This quest isn't as easy as it use to be because Droga was a lower level dungeon but now it's filled with 50+ type mobs.

when i was here (i dont think its revamped on mac version yet) all i did was peek out both sides of the walls to see if gobs were nearby, if you look around before handing it in and gating/resneaking then you should be able to pull it off. VERY good quest, best to do before 10 if you get invis by then, because it means no CR if you die, and getting lost in the middle of that place and dieing would not be an easy CR.
Jerin Manri and the "safe spot"
# Oct 14 2003 at 7:02 AM Rating: Decent
Last night (Oct 13 2003) the Leafshadows attempted this quest. Being a 42 rogue and a 41 druid we were a little nervous about the revamp and the quest being available. Well, the quest is available, but we had a problem with the safe spot as the goblins saw us there with Jeren and began to beat the living snot out of us. Just a heads up to anybody looking to try this "safely". The hidden room there might not be so safe anymore.
