Willamina is found in the Plane of Knowledge at about -425, 1155 (south side of the central area, nearly under the bridge to the library).

You say, 'Hail, Willamina'

Willamina says 'The city is full of curious people all searching for something. Many have struggled for a long time to find their reward. Some are not even aware of what is it they are looking for, but will know it when they see it. Would you care to [help] me out? It will only take a moment.'

You say, 'I will help you'

Willamina says 'How wonderful! To pass the time I enjoy sitting under the trees and sewing together luscious fabrics. But now it seems my old sewing needles have all broke or gone dull, and I require a new supply. Bolcen Tendag has promised to purchase and deliver some for me, but he has not yet arrived and I worry about him. If you could locate him and ask him

Head over to Bolcen Tendag (in the good part of the zone, in the building that leads to the archway to the library at /loc +685,+952, -123 at the doorway, from the sidewalk you will be facing north.).

You say, 'I have come for the needles'

Bolcen Tendag says 'I feel just terrible that I haven't been to see Willamina yet. Due to my illness I barely have the energy to stand. If you could aid me in some way, I would greatly appreciate it. Mirao Frostpouch might have an elixir that would help me feel better. Please seek him out and ask for it.'

Find Mirao Frostpouch in the neutral part of town.

You say, 'I have come for the elixir'

Mirao Frostpouch says 'That poor lad, he's always catching ill this time of year. Unfortunately I am out of the medicine he needs right now. Perhaps if you could obtain the key ingredient I am missing, I could brew up a batch for you to take to him. I have heard Cador recently came into possession of some black lava powder. If you can convince him to give you some, bring it to me right away!'

Find Oracle Cador in the good part of town inside the Shaman building.

You say, 'Do you have any black lava powder?'

Oracle Cador says 'You are most astute. I do have a stock of black lava powder with me, but I will only share it with those who prove themselves worthy. Onirelin Gali is currently in possession of an artifact I need to better commune with the spirits. Please recover it for me.'

See Onirelin Gali in the evil part of town.

You say, 'I have come for the artifact'

Onirelin Gali pauses for a moment and continues, 'I am aware of that which Cador desires. Be wary of his ways for they are not always as they appear. Nevertheless, if he thinks this artifact will bring him greater peace, he may have it for a price. Certainly I have no use for it but what do I get in return? I'll tell you. Narik and I used to be good friends, until he became jealous of my relationship with his former companion Elisha. During our fight, he marched off with one of my finest jewels, and I believe still has it. Find him and ask for my jewel back. If you bring it to me, Cador may get want he wants as well.'

Find Arch Mage Narik in the neutral part of town.

You say, 'I have come for the jewel'

Arch Mage Narik slams his book shut. 'So, the snake has legs after all! Tell Onirelin if he wants this back, he can come here himself and kiss my. . ., no wait. I have a better idea.' He draws closer and whispers, 'Did Onirelin tell you why I took this jewel? I did it in response to him taking my lady love, Elisha Dirtyshoes. We were to be married until she ran off with him. However, she also ran off with my engagement ring I gave to her. It is quite valuable to me, and I would be most happy to have it back. If you can procure it from her, I'll give Onirelin his jewel back. He's suffered long enough, I think.'

See Elisha Dirtyshoes in the central part of the zone.

You say, 'Can I have the ring?'

Elisha Dirtyshoes sighs and says, 'Tis a painful memory, for sure. My love for Narik fell once I met Onirelin, but my love for him was not reciprocated. Now I am left with no one to share my life, with only this ring as a reminder. Narik may have it back if he desires it, but then I shall be left truly alone. Boiron Ston once held a door open for me, such a handsome dwarf he is. If he could only find more time to spend with me, giving up this ring would be no problem at all. Do you think he likes me? Could you ask him and find out?'

Find a dwarf merchant named Boiron Ston in the central part of the zone.

You say, 'Do you like Elisha Dirtyshoes?'

Boiron Ston says 'Aye, she's a pretty lass. And I am aware of her feelings toward me. I haven't had the courage to approach her though. My family standard has recently disappeared, and no dwarf is the same when their standard is in jeopardy. Seek out Caden Zharik and demand my standard back, I believe he may have lifted it from me.'

Caden Zharik is a Gnome found in the central area outside on a ledge.

You say, 'I have come for the standard'

Caden Zharik turns white with fear. 'Ah, so he sent you to rough me up, did he? Fine, but you should know you couldn't hurt me any worse than Agrakath Theric would! I'm in a bit of trouble you see, I owe Agrakath some money I haven't got. So I stole the standard to pay him off. If you could please find him and have him somehow erase my debt, I would gladly give the standard back.'

Find Agrakath Theric.

You say, 'I have come to erase the debt'

Agrakath Theric grins and says, 'So, that weasel Caden has sent you to settle his debt? And you actually agreed to this endeavor? Ha ha, very well! I shall transfer the responsibility of what Caden owes me to your shoulders. I have a simple job for you. Somewhere in the library there lies a book I have been searching for, but it has eluded me for quite some time. I believe it can be found somewhere in the upper levels. You are to venture into Myrist and seek out a tome titled History of Evils: The Age of Scale, and bring it to me. Do this one task for me and your debt shall be relinquished.'

The book is a ground spawn in the library, on the bottom shelf located at about -95, 975, 68 (about a 30-minute respawn on it).

Take the book to Agrakath and then retrace your steps.

Agrakath Theric eyes go wide with surprise as you hand over the book. 'Very impressive for one of your abilities. Here, take this note to Caden. He is absolved of his debt to me at this time.'

Caden Zharik eyes go wide with relief. 'Oh thank you thank you! Here, take the standard. And do apologize to Boiron for me. It shall never happen again. Again, thank you!'

Boiron Ston seems to perk up. 'Ah, 'tis a beauty, is it not? I thank you for its safe return. Perhaps I shall go and visit Elisha after all. Please take this letter to her, so she may be ready for me when I arrive.'

Elisha Dirtyshoes reads the letter and says, 'Oh happy day! Boiron will be visiting me soon. You may take Narik's ring back to him now. If you'll excuse me, I have some cleaning up to do.'

Arch Mage Narik says 'This is truly excellent. You have done well recovering this for me. You may take Onirelin's jewel and also tell him never to set foot near me again. Leave me now, I have much work to do.'

Onirelin Gali says 'How did you get this away from Narik? Oh never mind, I'm just happy to have it back. I shall give you what Cador desires now, keep it secure and deliver it to him.'

Oracle Cador says 'The spirits are restful now that this piece of legend is in safe hands. You may take this to Mirao for whatever purpose he desires it for. May your vision always be clear!'

Mirao Frostpouch takes the powder and quickly dashes it into a boiling cauldron. He then stirs it and pours the concoction into a small bottle. 'Here you go, this should make poor Bolcen feel much better. Hurry now, he's waiting.'

Bolcen Tendag says 'Oh thank you so much.' He drinks from the bottle, then reaches in his pocket and produces a set of needles. 'I believe this is what Willamina is in need of. Please take these to her and give her my best.'

And lastly:

Willamina takes the needles and smiles. 'Thank you so much, kind stranger. I can't tell you how much you have really helped by doing this for me. It's funny, you know. The entire city seems to be in a happier mood today. I can't quite put my finger on it, but everyone seems to have uplifted spirits. Oh well, thank you again. I have something you may find to be of use to you, if you would be interested. Remember, knowledge is the key to life.'

You gain experience!!

You receive Planar Traveller's guide. This book is then used for another set of quests.

This quest is also known as Willamina's Needles. Though it is easier to start at the end than at the beginning. You can chase around and find out what eveyone needs or you can do what I did. Go to the library get the book, and start form there. THe quest is posted on Allakhazam's but lacks the locs of the poeple you need. So I will give you the locs of the people and the order of turn in.

The History of Evils: The Age of Scale
Loc: n100 p1000 on the second floor from ground level on the left side of library. Bottom shelf of book case. Looks like very small book. Spawns every 5-30 minutes.

Take book to Agrakth Theric
Loc: n553 p1207 Robed Erudite in Evil part of town on a hill near the wall.

Take the item he gives you to Caden Zharik
Loc: n341 p744 Gnome in the inner ring

Take the standard to Boiron Ston
Loc: p34 p331 merchant Dwarf in the inner ring

Take the note to Elisha Dirtyshoes
Loc: p394 p938 Human in a "wooden" room in the inner ring

Take the ring to Arch Mage Narik
Loc: p418 p22 Robed Human in the neutral part of town (in the caster guild I think)

Take the jewel to Onirelin Gali
Loc: n643 p1043 Dark Elf in the evil part of town

Take the Artifact to Oracle Cador
Loc: p622 p110 Barbarian located in the good part of town near PoT zone

Take the Black Lava Powder to Mirao Frostpouch
Loc: n89 n208 Barbarian located on the neutral part of town (in shammy guild I think)

Take the Curing Elixer to Bolcen Tendag
Loc: p680 p949 Barbarian located in the good part of town in one of the staircases to an upper ramp.

Take the Needles to Willamina
Loc n433 p1159 Halfling near the tree in the good part of town.

She gives you the Planar Traveller's Guide. It is needed for further quests and further manuals in the Plane of Knowledge. I hope this info makes it easier for you all to complete this. Took me forever without a tracker. figured I would share my knowledge.

Nobody is KOS to the residents of the PoK. All of them, in all parts of town, are on the same faction and appear to be indifferent to everyone. They're still indifferent to me after I equip this manual, so the faction boost it provides is small, but may be important.

I did this quest as a 38SK, but started getting the first book and turning it over, without hailing anyone. Each new person said I gained experience, but none was given even at the end. She did give me the book, but I was hoping for the xp. Took me about an hour to visit them all and the directions posted here are good. Must I hail them all and go thru the entire process or was I too low to complete this quest?

I took my level 2 gnome up there, all together, the turn-ins resulted in about 1 yellow of exp at level 2. Far less exp than any light blue kill at level 38.

adding some information to this to make it easier:

Age of Scale book Loc -93, 975, 67.31
it is actually on the 3rd floor or 2 floors up from ground lvl to clarify that. Its in the bottom right corner of the book shelf and is diagonal. Brown little book.

Agrakth is in the NW area of evil area; jus turn right and he's in corner in yellow robe

Caden is in Middle to the left of library but not up on raised area. If you look at the PoP manual PoK map its the building to the left of the A labeling the library.

Boiron is in same area just go NE of where Caden was and hes standing outside building along with many other merchants.

Dirtyshoes is in the building to the right of the "A" on the map. If you go up the stairs on the north side she is in the first door on the right in the little area w/ 4 doors close to eachother.

Arch Mage in the caster building which is directly to left of Nexus Portal. He's in the left room

Onirelin is a DE wearin chain in the building with the ramp up to the library in evil area.

Cador isn't near PoT though he is in the good part of town. He is in the building next to the Erudin Portal

Mirao is in the building in the middle of Neutral Area east of the library ramp building and west of PoT portal.

Bolcen is in good part of town (north part) in building leading to library.

Then it all leads back to Willamina who is sitting under a tree in the SW part of Inner town (south of Library north of evil section).
Broken?
# Oct 29 2002 at 2:06 PM Rating: Default
I did this quest this morning, backwards, receiving experience every step of the way. When I got to Willamina she thanked me and gave me experience but no traveler's manual. I didn't have time to petition as I did the quest just before work. Either the quest is broken or I should have initiated it with her before gave her the needles.

I thought I would get alot more xp with my lvl 5 shaman, but no I got 2 blue ^_^;; *sigh* oh well.
RE: Broken?
# Nov 25 2002 at 1:55 AM Rating: Decent
The experience is negligible at any level (well maybe lvl 1 might get a blue, never tried that) But at 13, you still won't see your xp bar move. Anyway, Yes you CAN do this quest backwards, because I've done it several times on different characters and only the first time I went the right way. (lots of leg work, so I thought ***** that noise and just went backwards)
RE: Broken?
# Nov 01 2002 at 2:56 PM Rating: Default
Started it yesterday and finished today. Marginal experience for 50 Ranger but I did get the book. I did start with going thru the initial dialog, and did hail each of the mob.

For what it is worth.
You can't do it backwards
# Nov 01 2002 at 6:06 PM Rating: Decent
Unlike non-planar quests, many quests in the Planes require you to talk to people in a certain order. So if you only do the second half, it won't work.

My 40 warrior got pretty close to zero experience (didn't budge the meter at all), and there are no faction adjustments for any step of the quest.

book spawn time
# Oct 25 2002 at 12:56 AM Rating: Excellent
The book spawns every 6 minutes

RE: book spawn time
# Oct 28 2002 at 7:04 PM Rating: Good
Actually, the spawn time is random. I stood in line to get the book just as the person at the head of the line got his spawn. The next person in line had a 5 minute wait. Person after that (me) had a 10 minute wait. I don't doubt that some have waited 30 minutes for the book to spawn, so I'd conclude that the respawn time on the book is random with 5 minutes being the minimum, and 30 minutes the maximum.

After completing this quest, I equipped my book in my secondary slot and went back to talk to several NPCs. Three of them now had more to say to me:

1. Zauvudd Gigath (loc neg 657, pos 903) offers to teach you the basics of Planar Combat if you are [willing to learn]. He requires, in addition to your Planar Traveller's manual, that you make him a Planar Blood Brew. When prompted, he says the recipe is: Nightmare Mephit Blood, Slarghilug Blood, Bubonian Blood, Soda Water, Grapes, Cask, Cork, and Corking Device.

2. Winon Glahar (loc neg 118, pos 53)offers to teach you the basics of Planar Stealth if you are [willing to learn]. He requires, in addition to your Manual, that you make a particular Planar Stein for him. He will give the following directions: For the base model stein, combine a Block of Tanaan Clay, Ceramic Lining Sketch, Tainted Planar Essence, Water Flask, and Scultping Tools on a pottery wheel. Crush Valor Crystals and Glaze Lacquer in a glaze mortar to make Crystalline Valor Glaze. Take the base model stein, glaze, a Lacquered Peridot, and a High Quality Firing sheet to a kiln and combine for the required stein.

3. Acamar Lethiol (loc pos 678, pos 807) offers to teach Planar magical ability if you are [willing to learn]. In addition to your Manual, he wants a delicious Hobgoblin Surprise. Combine a pie tin, loaf of bread, hobgoblin meat, and brown gravy in an oven to make this treat.

I haven't begun to look for the items needed yet, but it seems likely you need to go to some of the new Planes to get them.

Good luck!

Upon returning to Acamor with the hobgoblin surprise and handing in your planar travellers manual, he hands you a Beginner's Stealth Manual with the following stats:
Magic, Lore, No-drop
Range, secondary
ac7 dex 6 agi 6 hp 15 mana 15
reccomended level 45
weight 0.1
all/all

Yes this consumers your planar travelers manual and if you wish to do the other quests from the other two guys that ask for your planar travelers manual, you will have to get a new one.

He also tells you that when you are ready, Cadelid Etor (the vah shir to his left)will help you with your next lesson. Upon talking to Cadelid, we discover that he wants you to kill Vhaksiz the Shade (plane of Nightmare mini boss) and return his heart with your beginner manual for an upgrade. I can only assume that after you do this, the level increases to 50 or so and the guy to Acamor's right will have another quest for you to upgrade the book again. And I also assume that this may unlock another plane for you to travel to.

Ugh, this quest seems rather like a lot of running around to open up a couple other quests, if you have to turn in your book too. Sounds like if you do one of those quests, you end up having to do this one again to do a different one. Oh well, whatever keeps us p(l)aying, heh.
RE: This is the first step...
# Oct 25 2002 at 4:30 PM Rating: Default
Actually, that seems very unlikely to me. It probably works more like several other quests that require you to turn in an item from a prior quest to get the reward. The Shar Vahl newbie quests, for example, always return your slate along with the reward. It seems pointless to speculate that you'd need to obtain a new manual every time you wanted to advance along a quest trail.

I think he is refering to the fact that there are three different books that you can aquire, Stealth(Dex, Agi), Magic(Caster- Int, Wis), and I assume Power (Melee-Str, Sta). If you want one of the other books you would have to do the running around again to aquire another base book since the quests upgrade the one you already have.

RE: This is the first step...

I agree. If you wanted the other books, you would have to run around again. To continue with the same line, it follows a similar pattern to the monk sash/headband quests. Get new item, collect more stuff, turn it all in, get the next new item, collect more stuff, turn it all in, etc.
faction hits

There are no faction hits from this quest and you can just get the book and go from there, no need to start at beginning.

Can see in the quest description there are a few exp hits as you hand the various items in to the respective person, but no sign of faction hits. Are there any on the hand ins, or is the only one via the book you receive on the final hand in?

Just ran a level 1 mage thru the quest to see how much experience you get for this quest.

Started with only my newbie recruitment letter turn in (4% or 1 blue)

Finished Level 2, and 2 Blue (8%)

Not much experience in total, but the book is the real prize.

Shortcut
# Oct 23 2002 at 12:28 AM Rating: Excellent
Yes, you can work this backwards.
So, head to the library, grab the book from the shelf by Sir G. And:

Agrakath @ n560, P1209
Caden @ N343, P762
Boiron @ p19, p330
Elisha @ p391, p932
Narik @ p406, p80
Onirelin @ n653, p1042
Cador @ p620, p111
Mirao @ n86, n203
Bolcen @ p675, p946
Willamina @ n428, p1159

Once you have the book, equip and hail mobs. I've seen a couple of mobs say "Congrats on getting your book, would you like a quest?" :)

So are they using the new NPC interaction abilities so that you can't shortcut quests like this by just going and getting the book and starting on the back end of the quest? Do you have to talk to all of them first or can you just get the book and start from there?

Nevermind... I found it.. the book is at the shelf that Sir Geravaldi is at... the book is tiny and right underneath the slanted book. It's on the second to last floor (not counting the floor the elevator takes you to.)

Actual location is at neg94 pos977 pos66, to Sir Gervaldi's right bottom shelf.
