Target Hierophant Zand and say I am the chosen savior.

Hierophant Zand closes his eyes and bows before you.

Hierophant Zand says "I am honored to meet the one who shall pledge his life to the return of the Skulls of the Ancients. However, I must see proof of our prowess as of yet. Go to the outlands and retrieve one Froglok Hexdoll, and no, they are not found on Frogloks. They are shaman dolls made by the goblin tribe."

The Froglok Hex Doll can be found on a goblin hextracer in Warsliks Wood.

Turn in the Froglok Hex Doll to Hierophant Zand.

Hierophant Zand says, 'Fine work! I hope for your sake, you did not purchase it from a brave adventurer. Take this note to the one for whom it is written. This lizard has knowledge of a large number of skulls.'

You receive The Bone Garrison, a note that reads: "Crusader Quarg. Assist this young mystic with the retrieval of the skulls."

Deliver the note to Crusader Quarg in the Field of Bone.

Crusader Quarg roams inside a building near East Cabilis. He gives you Skull Chest, a 6 slot container.

Kill undead crusaders in Kurn's Tower and loot 2 different Iksar Skull with an 'X'.

Head to Kurn's Tower and bring him back the Skulls of the Caste of Bone Brethren, a caste of powerful shamans who perished fighting undead in the Field of Bone several decades ago. You are to get the skulls of the 5 Caste members along with the skull of the leader. The Leader Skull is a Lore skull with an "X". The others are non lore Skulls with an "X". (When Identified, they show Caste of Bone Brethren). They all drop off the undead crusaders in Kurn's Tower.

Put them in the Skull Chest and combine them. This turns the Skull Chest into a Full C.O.B.B. Chest.

Take the Full C.O.B.B. Chest back to Crusader Quarg, along with your previous cudgel.

Hand him the C.O.B.B. chest and your Iron Cudgel of the Seer to receive Iron Cudgel of the Mystic.

The undead crusader:

The regular skull with X is his common drop, the lore skull with X his rare drop.

He seems to spawn a whole lot faster when I have a powerful group that is wiping out everything on the third and fourth floors, and a fair bit of stuff on the second floor. I have never seen him spawn except when wholesale slaughter was in progress, or had been done a few minutes earlier, though this may be mere coincidence. Though he seems to spawn primarily on the fourth floor landing of the spiral stairs and walk down to the third floor landing, the best way to get him may well be to slaughter everything, whereupon he will turn up anywhere.

After reading all the posts here by people and having camped the same one at the top of the stairs for 2 weeks only to get the non lore skulls leads me to belive there are more than 1 crusader spawns with PH's spread out from the barreks lvl to dinning room. Since some have seem to have had luck getting the LORE skull but aprrently not off that particualr stairway spawn point ( like myself) would warent a more systematic clearing of the top 2 floors and watch each spawn point on respawn. Total of 6 skulls needed so good bet there are a total of 6 Crusader spawns in Kurn but most of us are only camping the known one.

I just finished this damned camp. Took me 4 days, not constant. Total camp time, 15 hours.

The information about where the Undead Crusader spawning on the stairs leading from the Barracks level (3) to the Caved in Room level (4) are correct. It is a 10 minute spawn, for that spot.

This is how I camped the first 13 hours of the quest, and got one LORE skull and one non-LORE skull.

Today, however, I just got 4 skulls in about 2 hours. Here's what was different: There were two twinked monks cruising around killing everything. The Crusader was popping up everywhere.

I looted his corpse around the barracks, in the big room on the barracks level just as you come up from level 2, and on the stairs to the caved in room.

My STRONG belief, not having witnessed the actual spawn (because I spent most of my time on the stairs between 3 and 4), is that ALL of the wandering skeles on 3 and 4, in the barracks, on the stairs, and in the Caved-In room are all PHs for the Undead Crusader.

My suggestion is to get a pair of buddies, or if you can deal out a reasonable amount of damage yourself in short order, is too kill ALL of the wandering skeles.

I had two appear within about 2 minutes of each other, so I am not sure if they can be more than one Undead Crusader at a time or not.

Hope this helps. This could have been a 4 hour camp for me, had I used this method from the beginning.

Hopefully the will help someone else frustrated with the quest.

The hextracer was the easy part, made much easier by asking someone to track for me =) I worked on the next quest at the same time by having them track Goblin Bloodtracers for me as well. Hard part is the Skulls. Mostly hung around the giant fort area to do this, but watch out for things that can wipe you up (I was around level 20 at the time).

I have been working on this quest from level 14 to 22. At 22 I could take anything solo, and get some experience for the harder skeletons. Level 14 I was grouped. I have seen the undead crusader on the three main locations mentioned in previous posts

1. from level two, take the stairs to your right that go up to level 3. Crusader spawns at the top.

2. continue up those same stairs up to top level (someone mentioned loc -98, -223, 122 as this spot)

3. on level 3 along the set of small stairs that go up to the barracks. Good camp for a lvl 14 group.

I got the only LORE skull of the crusader near the barracks area. I saw it drop a LORE skull again in this spot and let someone else loot it. The rest I saw mostly on the top of the stairs. Three skulls I had to buy, most people just give them to you actually. NONE of the skulls are NO DROP.

I have no idea what the best way is to get the crusader to spawn. I tried killing all the wandering spawns since the crusader spawns as a wanderer every time I have seen it. But I have done that for HOURS at a time and seen nothing. Sometimes I see two within a short time... go figure. Basically, the crusader would spawn on me while the 3rd and 4th floor was being kept clean by someone. That means being in a group or between me and some others going solo. I never managed to get it to spawn when I was working the floor by myself. I still think that the crusader has place holders and it is most likely the wandering skeletons... I just wasn't sure which ones and couldn't clear them fast enough.

The was the most frustrating quest. The previous one was easier, and the next one even easier still since it was done except for the cudgel while waiting on this one! Buy the skulls if you can. Good luck

For any of you like me having a hard time finding the Gobby Hextracer. I spent 3 days scouring warslick for this little bugger, following the advice to kill everything within 50 feet of the guard the first... then trying to get the aid of a ranger/druid and gereally running back and forth through zone N->S, then S->N.
I finnally found one right off the giant fort while going to sow someone. I was so happy that I stayed outside the fort and started killing giants for a bit. Within about 20 min I also killed a another hextracer. So any shammy searching, try camping to the left of the bridge that leads into the giant fort.

Similar advice... I hunted all around the fort and saw plenty of hextracers, as well as other goblins. Didn't have any luck by the guard next to the Cabilis zone. This can also be made a lot easier if you have someone to track for you, they should come up with multiple hextracers around the fort.

Same...I found mine killing things around the pond that the river around the giant fort feeds into. I got him within 15 minutes of getting there, having scoured the zone slaughtering everything for an hour or so beforehand.

Ok, folks I have some specifics for the Undead Crusader. From what I've come up with he spawns near location -98, -223, 122, in the tower of Kurns, that is on the steps that goes up to the dinning room level. He does have a place holder, and that place holder is the skeleton that walks up and down the stairs. The respawn rate is 10 min. I timed the spawn, every 10 min almost exactly, either the Undead crusder, or the place holder will drop, and they don't drop in the same spot all the time, it will drop somewhere on the steps.
I hope that helps, but the Undead Crusader is a verry rare spawn, so much so, that I was not sure I was in the right spot or not, untill finaly it spawned right at the location that I listed. This quest is possible to do, but be ready for some long hours camping the crusader.

Good Hunting, and may the spirits guid you well.

P.S. I just finished this quest, after camping the crusader for 12 hours over the past 3 days. This quest is verry boring. But I'm happy to say the long camp is now over....for now.. =) I spent 8 striaght hours camping the crusader today, and only saw him once, but that was all I needed to get my last skull.
Just wondering if its related

LORE Skull

Ok, we need some more information on this lore skull. I too have all five of the other skulls, but have yet to see one of the LORE ones. A few questions for those who have finished this quest, is it No Drop? Did it come off of the Undead Crusader like the others, or did it come off of one of the Burynai like someone earlier suggested? This information may make things easier for all.

I have been working on this quest for a while (off and on). Finally got the Lore skull last night. It is NOT no drop, and I got it off the undead crusader like the others. Still have to get two more regular non lore skulls (sigh). Hope this helps.

I've been tryiing this quest on and off for the last week and been having the other problem... too many lore skulls. I got my first one on the second crusader and wasted a second one on the 4th crusader (all in about 6 hours). I've finally gotten my 4th non-lore so only one more to go (if only I hadn't gotten that second lore!). Maybe tonight, but there doesn't seem to be any consistency on getting him to spawn.

Argh, I think I'll try for the crusader tonight. I hope the camp isn't long. Maybe I'll have the same luck I had getting the Iksar Berserker Club, that took an hour.

i, like many of you, am completely fed up with this quest. i have camped the crusader for many hours with no luck. in all my time at kurns, i have only seen him once - ONCE! and that was on my first visit there. i have tested every known theory to get him to spawn... nothin. i'm not saying these theories are wrong, i'm just saying i must have the worst luck ever. anyway, after that one skull i looted when i kill the crusader myself, i have recieved 4 others from very kind and generous people along the way. i now have 5 skulls total and only need one more! however, that last one is the infamous LORE skull with x. i can't stand kurns any longer, so i'm asking y'all for help. if you on the tunare server ever run into a LORE skull with x, please give me a tell. i just want to put this REDICULOUS quest behind me and move on with my life. thanks all.

I feel your pain brother shaman. However, having just solved this quest, perhaps I can help with some details. I saw the crusader many times and collected 3 skulls total from him. He popped every time at the top of the steps where 2 other stationary skels were as well. From this point if you take an immediate left you head into the dining hall with the blocked passages.

Every time I got a skull from him it was a non-lore. I remember earlier in my career hunting with a large group in the basement and finding a lore skull. I promptly destroyed it not knowing what it was. I was on the 2nd skull quest at the time. I got mu current lore skull from a kind gnomish mage-type. I remember looting it from a furbie. Perhaps the Burynai Forager?

Hope this helps.
The LONG Wait
# Sep 23 2000 at 11:58 PM Rating: Decent
I must have camped this guy for 10 or 12 hours over a period of days and finally got them all. I was so glad to be done I am never going back into Kurn's tower if I can avoid it.

Thank Cazic-Thule I am done with this quest.

I have camped the Undead Crusader for over 24 hours over about 3 months (I gave it a rest out of frustration several times). I have probably 10 Iksar Skulls with an X, and NONE of them has ever said LORE ITEM on it.

I only want to do this quest so I can move on to the next.

Is there any secret to getting the lore skull? Like is it the first drop after a server reset?

I've spoken with many Iksar shamans who have given up on their quests because of this RIDICULOUSLY long and BORING camp. If anyone has one of these lore skulls, I'll pay 100pp for it!
Annoying Quest
# Jul 30 2000 at 10:24 PM Rating: Default
The Crusader was blue to me at 17th level.

This quest is very long. No one else hunts the upper levels of Kurn's, and you need to get past at least 7 other Skeles (Usually Greater Skeletons or Scalebones) to get to where the Crusader spawns. I've spent about 20 hours on this quest, Killed the Crusader once, bought one skull through constant auctioning and had to zone from the crusader twice when he jumped me either during a combat or right after.
RE: Annoying Quest
# Jan 12 2001 at 12:07 AM Rating: Decent
If you get invis vs undead you can walk right past the skeletons and camp the staircase where the Undead Crusader spawns. There will be one wandering skeleton and 2 stationary guard skeletons on the flat (landing) of the staircase up to the dining hall (the one that ends up having you face a single torch hanging on the wall).

The Undead Crusader has popped there right on top of my head more than once, and since I didn't get started on this quest until my 30s, he's been uber green.

I still don't have the lore skull with an x, and am offering 100pp for one.
Damn that Crusader
# Jul 30 2000 at 5:08 AM Rating: Decent
I have killed him 5 times and I have 5 skulls, however I bought two of these since I got the lore one three times so far. Having one skull lore so that you can get duplicates is intensely annoying. My longest wait, 10 hours, and my time spent solely doing this quest so far is about 30 hours. I have been trying to buy skulls for 30pp but people don't hunt Kurns so the skulls are not too common. In my opinion this quest is a mess, the investment in time is horrendous compared to the previous one which I was probably lucky to complete in about 5 hours (while doing other interesting stuff) and the next one which I already have all the parts for (took about 5 hours for that too).

Putting an item that we need six copies of on a very rare spawn was a bad decision. These skulls should drop off Lesser Ice Bones, which are uncommon and can spawn all around Kurns.

They've nerfed pathing and spawn rate and drop tables recently. However, though Kurn's does seem to repop faster and I get armor drops from skeletons more frequently, I have yet to EVER see a LORE ITEM Iksar Skull with an X. Do you need to identify it to see that it's lore? I don't think so.

I am still offering 100pp for the lore skull so I can be done with this infuriatingly boring quest.
Patience is the virtue of a shaman...
# Jul 01 2000 at 9:28 AM Rating: Excellent
This quest is somewhat easier (in terms of difficulty) than the previous, but it is taxing on the patience. The Undead Crusader is one of the rarest spawns in Kurn's Tower. Perhaps the Fingerbone Skelly and the Jester Skelly are rarer, but I believe the classes who need these spawn only need to kill them once.

You will need to kill the Undead Crusader a minimum of 6 times, and probably more. In between each spawn you will have to wait an average of three hours, with the minimum I have heard of being 2 hours and the most I have personally experienced being 7 hours.

As for the exact location within Kurn's, you need to go through the "newby" foyer at the zone entry and go up the main staircase to the left. When you reach the second level, run across the "bridge" and take the stairway up to the third level on your right. Continue up the stairway past the third (barracks) level to a small landing that has two placeholder spawn--usually greater skeletons or greater scalebones, though I have seen plain scalebone skellies here. This is the place where the crusader will spawn, and he will travel up and down this entire stairway between the third and fourth levels. Up a few steps from the landing is the top (so far) level of the tower--at the end of a long hallway is a huge dining room with exits blocked by fallen debris--I have not been able to get through with shrink, and nobody else has made it beyond this level to my knowledge. I don't know if it is possible to teleport past and continue up the tower or not--perhaps some day Verant will clear the debris and let you climb up to find maybe Kurn himself at the top of the tower--would be nice to put some more difficult MOBs in this zone.

Anyway, you need six skulls from the Undead Crusader--five "Skull with an X" and one LORE "Skull with an X." I personally killed the Crusader 4 times and bought one skull and had another given to me by someone in desperate need of healing and buffs.

A nice bonus is that the Crusader seems to consistently drop a Fine Steel Morning Star (8/38) which you can sell to vendors for several platinum or auction. I was so happy when I killed the Crusader the last time that I ran down to the zone and gave away the final FS Morning Star and 4 piles of bone chips I had collected during my camp...

Total time to complete: 16 hours

This is the best guide to finding the Undead Crusader. There are 2 spots he spawns. One is the top of the left hand dual staircase up to the "barracks" area. (Although I've never seen one there.)

The other is when you take the stairway up to the dining hall that makes you face a single torch on the wall. The flat area of that staircase has 2 guardian skeletons and a wandering skeleton that goes up and down the stairs. This one seems to be the PH for the Undead Crusader.

After clearing the 3 skeletons from this area, they repop on the flat landing area, including the wanderer. I've had the Undead Crusader pop right on top of my head here instead of the usual wanderer.

I have NEVER gotten the LORE Iksar Skull with an X, however and am SO fed up with the quest, I'll pay 100pp for it! Or even PL you while camping the mob...
Location of MOBs
# Jun 30 2000 at 3:50 PM Rating: Excellent
The Hextracer is in the Warsliks Wood. Walk out of Cabilis and take an immediate left. There is a guard at the edge where the stone meets the grass. The Hextracer spawns 50 feet or so in front of him. Hang out and kill everything that moves in front of him. Eventually the Hextracer will show up. He snuck up on me after 45 minutes of camping while I was fighting two other goblins. Hextracer is easy, level 10-11 I think. He cast Drowsy and Frost Rift on me.

Crusader Quarg spawns at nighttime and has been spotted right in the gates of Cabilis, wandering down the path, or up on the balcony with the vendors.

The Undead Crusader spawns on the second floor of Kurn's Tower on the staircase. I've heard he has placeholders, so kill everything that moves up there. I'm not sure of his level, 16-18ish would be my guess. I found it easier to /auction WTB Skull with X. People dont know what they're for, so I bought them for 3-5pp each.
