Target Hierophant Zand and say I am the chosen savior.

Hierophant Zand closes his eyes and bows before you.

Hierophant Zand says "I am honored to meet the one who shall pledge his life to the return of the Skulls of the Ancients. However, I must see proof of our prowess as of yet. Go to the outlands and retrieve one Froglok Hexdoll, and no, they are not found on Frogloks. They are shaman dolls made by the goblin tribe."

The Froglok Hex Doll can be found on a goblin hextracer in Warsliks Wood.

Turn in the Froglok Hex Doll to Hierophant Zand.

Hierophant Zand says, 'Fine work! I hope for your sake, you did not purchase it from a brave adventurer. Take this note to the one for whom it is written. This lizard has knowledge of a large number of skulls.'

You receive The Bone Garrison, a note that reads: "Crusader Quarg. Assist this young mystic with the retrieval of the skulls."

Deliver the note to Crusader Quarg in the Field of Bone.

Crusader Quarg roams inside a building near East Cabilis. He gives you Skull Chest, a 6 slot container.

Kill undead crusaders in Kurn's Tower and loot 2 different Iksar Skull with an 'X'.

Head to Kurn's Tower and bring him back the Skulls of the Caste of Bone Brethren, a caste of powerful shamans who perished fighting undead in the Field of Bone several decades ago. You are to get the skulls of the 5 Caste members along with the skull of the leader. The Leader Skull is a Lore skull with an "X". The others are non lore Skulls with an "X". (When Identified, they show Caste of Bone Brethren). They all drop off the undead crusaders in Kurn's Tower.

Put them in the Skull Chest and combine them. This turns the Skull Chest into a Full C.O.B.B. Chest.

Take the Full C.O.B.B. Chest back to Crusader Quarg, along with your previous cudgel.

Hand him the C.O.B.B. chest and your Iron Cudgel of the Seer to receive Iron Cudgel of the Mystic.

This part of the quest on TLP Aradune was the worst! So much competition for these spawns it took me over a week to get all the skulls I needed! The undead crusader spawns on the 3rd floor and between the double set of steps on the floor below. Mages, Necros, Monks and so on are here to get these skulls to try and sell them so good luck!

45 Shaman on Phinigel here.

I AFK'd on the stairs where these guys spawn for about 4 hours. Came back to 4 normal skulls and one lore skull. Since these guys still attack you even if they con grey, you'll be able to afk pet farm them if you position yourself right.

Good luck.

I just finished gathering the items for this quest. The went to the goblin pond located south of the goblin fort and killed everything for a little bit while watching for mobs to spawn between the 2 rocks on the right. Nothing spawned there but there are 3 rocks on the left with seemingly constant spawns there. I never saw the hextracer spawn but once I got my druid over there and tracked, I saw 2 hextracers up and both were between the goblin pond and the other pond (northwest from the goblin pond). I followed one hextracer to the goblin pond where he pathed by just north of the pond before dropping down the hill toward the giant fort. So if a person was to kill everything pathing east and west just north of the goblin pond (within 3 seconds run time from pond) you would see a hextracer at some point.
When I went to Kurn's Tower for the second part, it was definitely slow. I will try to explain as if whoever is reading this has never been to Kurn's Tower before. Once you zone into Kurn's you are in a lobby area. Move into the next room and there will be stairs to your left which go up to the next floor. Once you reach the top of the stairs, turn right and go across that balcony area where u will come to another lobby-type area with stairs on each side. Take the stairs on the right up to the first platform. On this platform you can go straight ahead into another room or turn left and go up more stairs.
I found two spawn points for the "undead crusader". From the platform, you can take a left and go halfway up those stairs. An undead crusader or his ph spawns here. Keep it dead. Also from the platform, you can go straight into the room ahead and take the first set of stairs on the left. This is the opening to the barracks area. Once you get to the top of the stairs and can turn right or left, there will be a spawn immediately to your right. An undead crusader or his ph spawns here. I kept those two spots dead and it took me 12 hours to get the skulls.
There was atleast 2 hours of killing everything on the upper floors before I saw the first named. It seemed like I saw one every 90 minutes after that. I didn't time the spawn of each mob but it was reasonable. Good Luck and I wish you all the best of luck.

Replying to this post, because it seems to be the most helpful from my experience over the last three days on the Aradune Server. So read the above post I'm replying to, but I'll add some info.

This comment is spot on for a place to sit. As I sat here for several hours I noticed there appeared to be 3 separate spawns. Two on the stairs proper, and a third that is at the top of the stairs. I have seen an Undead Crusader spawn at each location. But there is never more than one. What I think is going on is that the spawn is the same PH, but there is a 'patrol route mechanic' going on even when spawn is down. Such that when the PH does spawn, it depends on where the timer was in that route and that is where it spawns. I tried to log timers for the kills to see spawn rates, I think it is close to 18 min, however I'm not super confident on this point.

PH has the same action when spawned, they immediately begin walking down the stairs. Regardless where it spawns, if you sit in the middle of the bend in stairs, they will smack you as they walk the patrol.

This second referenced spawn I can also confirm I sat at with a separate character and killed an Undead Crusader. However, while sitting on the PH spawn [loc: -0.13, -82.94, 104.03] in the middle of the hallway, while facing the short wall in between the two half flight stairs that go down, I saw a patrolling Undead Crusader come out of the right hallway from up the stair and smack me. It was not the PH referenced by Keebosabi. So there appears to be one additional spawn nearby and it patrols. One of the skeles that will walk down the stairs into the open area, at the bottom of stairs to barracks (has the open space with drop down a level).

If you're looking for an AFK spot as a solo, I would recommend the stairs in the first post. I would estimate I spent 16+ hrs so far with a character sitting at each. I've seen 10 total spawns, 7 on the stairs leading to top floor, and 3 in that hallway area near barracks or open area below. As for the skull drops all 10 have been the 'non-lore' versions. So I would characterize the Lore skull to be rare.

Placeholders have been all kinds: Greater Skele, Greater Scalebone, Icebone, Scalebone Skele. It is possible that more of the placeholders in the zone have the potential to spawn the Undead Crusader, beyond the noted places here. From my observation, all the spawns I personally have seen were patrolling PH, so if you expand out to test other areas in the zone, patrolling Skeles might be something to focus. I never saw an Undead Crusader spawn from a static spawn.

Finally finished this one!!

I had to buy one off of another player, it was just taking forever.

Farmed the Tiny Glowing Skull at the same time when things just got too boring waiting in Kurns for Undead Crusader.

Need 6 of those for next cudgel.

The Goblin Hextracer was easy. Just outside the zone from Cabilis West to WW.

The Iksar Skull with an 'X' on the otherhand are taking forever. Got three (including lore) in just over 1 week. RL.

Still going.

Sit on the curve halfway up the stairs to top floor. These are the ones to the right side after crossing the bridge/balcony area. The PH spawns every 10 mins here, and can be a great skeleton, greater scalebone lesser icebone etc.

Another less frequent spawn is in the corridor around the barracks area - I always ran down and killed the wanderers there in between the stair spawn. If no xp groups are up on the top floor then just go up and flatten the skels up there to relieve boredom....

I have been lucky and got 2 or 3 Undead crusaders one after another - butits still a long camp - I did over a few sessions cos I was gathering for a friend too in return for help for other things.

Hope that helps:)

My experience
# Sep 08 2003 at 6:10 AM Rating: Decent
Allright here's my experience. It takes FOREVER to gather all 6. I recommend just keeping the third and fourth floors cleared. This is in no way necessary, but clearing the floors gives you something to do whereas just camping a single spawn gets old real quick, not that it makes it that much less boring. If you are gonna do this be prepared to spend a LOT of time in Kurn's. I did and eventually got them all, and the sixth one to my surprise was the lore skull... guess I was just lucky there.
Crusader?
# Jan 04 2003 at 8:14 PM Rating: Decent
OK,

So sit on the curved staircase between the third and fourth floors? Like right in the middle?

I've prob spent 4 hours so far in Kurn's and haven't seen him ONCE. I have been clearing the third and fourth floors with doggie.

Just need a little clarification before I pull out all my hair.

Thanks

I've personally seen this guy twice in 20+ hours of clearing the third and 4th floors out of boredom.. however both times I saw him he was indeed on one of the third/fourth floor staircases, forget which one, but it's always been the same one. The guy is getting real annoying Smiley: banghead

Spent 6 hours yesterday camping him. he does spawn in other areas as well, but seems to be more common on the stairs. Well, off to go help my friend get his last skull from the crusader. Good luck everyone

Lore Is Needed
# Dec 23 2002 at 7:03 AM Rating: Decent
Just finished up this quest today....it WONT let me do the combine without the lore skull......i didnt lose the 6 non lore skulls but it said i couldnt combine these items in this container type etc......so yes you DO need a lore skull....the guy that last posted may have done it without the lore skull, it may have been bugged....and you are more than welcome to try and combine 6 non lore....but dont bet on it that it will work......also.....i got 5 undead crusaders to spawn within 2-2.5 hours....by sittin on the stairs mentioned....didnt kill anything else.....i had 3 spawn in a row even....good luck to you all!
RE: Lore Is Needed
# Dec 23 2002 at 7:05 AM Rating: Decent
Oh yeah.....wandering mobs on the 2nd and 3rd floor seem to be PH's for the Undead Crusaders!
OK THER IS NO LORE SKULL
# Nov 05 2002 at 6:59 AM Rating: Default
In case everyone who is doing this is looking for a "LORE ikasr skull with an X" I could not find one all in all it took about 10hours of game play to get Six skulls. Out of sheer frustration I hit the combine button and poof I got the C.O.B.B. item that you need to move on to next club. Please believe me I had no skull item that said LORE.
Whew... the only good came out of this was that I was able to pick up all the bone chips and make stacks to sell in Baz. Not good plat but fair for the time spent in Kurn.
So either this quest has been confused with the next quest or they have changed the requirment for the quest. Good luck to those camping the undead crusader that spawns on the thrid floor. I continusely wiped out both 3rd an 4th floors for 2 hours one day and it didn't even spawn once :(

then i simply sat on the staircase mentioned and killed the 10 min spawn and saw more crusaders spawn there than when i cleared all the floors

Sat on the 3rd floor for 2 hours killing everything in site, today trying to get Crusader to pop. He used to pop fairly regularly on the fourth floor, as described in previous posts.

I still need 2 more non-lore Skulls for my COBB box. I've auctioned and it doesn't seem like the lowbies have been seeing the drop either. Anyone seen the Crusader since the patch? Man they fixed Part 5, and now Part 3 is maybe broken. This quest is a mess.

Well if you have an extra skull or two on Sullon Zek, let me know I'm offering 50pp a pop now, I'm desperate!
Verant is very obvious...

C.O.B.B Box? Caste of Bone Bretheren box. My hat is off to them for being able to come up with so many names, and at times they reward us with something obvious like this or more descrete... Like some of the Luclin names.

Okay I have repeated this crusader test now. (having filled the COBB box 3 times now) The crusader has as i have seen it 3 extact spawns that i have seen him spawn at on the top floor the room next to the dinning room. (the room with the round table in it) the 2 skelly spawns by themselves the one on the left is one place for the crusader. This spot is a 16 minute timer.
The second spawn point is the stairs between the 3rd and 4th floor. This is a 10 minute timer.
The third point is the third floor lobby area, he will walk across the lobby area and you will be able to target him and kill him before he despawns. this is also a 16 minute timer.
My routine is to head down to the basement kill everything there. (finger, cook - whatever is down there)
Then head back up once upstairs i kill the dinning room and the guards on the 3rd and forth floors. then I sit on the stairs and wait for that guy. on the stairs it seems to be a scalebone, greater skelly, then lesser icebone or the undead crusader.

I hate this part!

I have been camping the crusader for many many many days now. I had him spawn 7 times so far..5 of the LORE skulls and 2 non lore! I normally clean the 3rd and 4th floors sometimes the 2nd because I am bored. Nice place to PL a teeny toon. I have spent over 15 hrs in here doing this camp. My lil half elf warrior is almost Cab friendly from all the bone chips ;) If anyone has any skulls on ARO please look me up! Will buy them from you.

I spent 20 Hrs in Kurns trying to get the Skulls. After about 12 Hrs I had seen the Crusader once and got 1 Skull. I spent this time running between the 3rd and 4th Kloor killing everything I saw. The only Crusader I saw was on the right-hand staircase when leaving the Dining Room on the top floor. The last 8 hours were spent on this staircase killing all skellies that popped on the staircase. I got 5 ordinary skulls and the Lore Skull during this time

My advice therefore sit on these stairways for your whole camp.

A bit more info on the Crusader. I have been laying waste to the top two floors looking for this guy. I noticed something, which has made the remaining skulls simple to get.

Yes, the pop on the stairs up to the dinning room is a ten minute timer. Yes he can pop there. There is another 10 minute pop in the room with the double stairs that lead up to the barracks. He can pop there, too.

In other words, these two 10-minute wanderers are yeilding many crusaders. The normal 18-minute wanders have yeilded zero.
Spawn rate of undead crusader
# Nov 03 2001 at 6:35 PM Rating: Decent
I just finished this quest. Took me about 30 hours total over two weeks. The crusaders spawn anywhere on the top two floors of Kurn's as wandering mobs. I don't think the spawn rate has anything to do with the rate at which the floors are cleared out. I soloed the top two floors killing only the wandering mobs, and I also cleared out both floors with a bunch of tanks. There was no change in the spawn rate. The spawn rate was basically every four hours or so regardless of the speed we killed things. I believe the crusaders spawned at just before noon and just before 4:00 PM twice .... of course I could have been halucinating by that point too. Anyhow, I'm just glad this quest is over.
Spawn rate of undead crusader
# Oct 30 2001 at 5:38 PM Rating: Default
Some zones, most infamously unrest, switch on higher spawn rates of tougher mobs when the zone population is depleted, in order to prevent zones overcrowded with adventurers from getting too safe.

It may well be that to get a reasonable spawn rate of the undead crusader, one must depopulate Kurn's tower. It would be interesting to hear what happens when a low level guild camps the tower from top to bottom.
