You say, 'Hail, Seria Woodwind'

Seria Woodwind says 'Hail friend. I am Seria Woodwind of the Royal Order of the Koada'Vie, the defenders of Felwithe. I assist young Koada'Dal that are called into Tunares service as a paladin in learning the ways of the Koada'Vie so that one-day they too may bear that noble title. Do you [wish to become a member] of the Koada'Vie?'

You say, 'I wish to become a member'

Seria Woodwind says 'As a defender of Felwithe you will be required to face much of the evil that inhabits the lands of Norrath. We do not sit idle and wait for the enemy to arrive at our gates before taking action towards the safety of our citizens. Every Koada'Vie initiate should acquire a [suit of armor] to aid in protecting themselves from the weapons of our [enemies].'

You say, 'What suit of armor'

Seria Woodwind says 'You require this special Mail Assembly Kit in order to fashion your Felwithe Defenders Armor. The materials necessary for the armors construction vary according to the piece you are attempting to craft. Once you have been properly outfitted return to me and I will provide you with [further instruction]. Do you plan on crafting [Felwithe Defender Gauntlets], [Felwithe Defender Boots], an [Felwithe Defender Bracer], an [Felwithe Defender Helm], [Felwithe Defender Greaves], [Felwithe Defender Vambraces], or an [Felwithe Defender Breastplate]?'

You say, 'I want felwithe defender greaves'

Seria Woodwind says 'To assemble felwithe defender greaves you will need to obtain two bricks of crude bronze and smelt them in a forge with a Water Flask and this Crude Greaves Mold. Once that is done combine the Crude Bronze Greaves with two Giant Sylvan Bat Furs and two Giant Wasp Warrior Sternites in the Mail Assembly Kit.'

Only gfay bats count

There are giant bats in BB, but they don't drop the "Giant Sylvan Bat Fur" needed for these armor quests. Only the Giant Sylvan Bats in GFay do. I've been hunting them for over 30 hours now, and only found 2 furs (and most of that was with a ranger tracking for me). By comparison, all of the other items were a piece of cake to collect. I don't mind needing an ultra-rare drop from a rare spawn to do a quest, but needing four of them seems a bit much.

I've found giants bats all over the place, but mainly across the top of the zone (north of the orc lift) and down the west wall. It might be a coincidence, but giant wasp warriors seem to be placeholders.

See, I'm looking the the Giant Sylvan bat fur page, and it only says they spawn in Gfay. Are they in BB too? I've never heard of that before.
Easy Giant bat furs

Yeah, I've found that the best place to get the giant bat furs is butcherblock. There are a ton of the giant bats there, so you don't have to wait forever for them to spawn. I got a bat that dropped three furs once.

I have finished the whole newbie quest finally after numerous hours of hunting down rare drops. The rarest it seems is this gaint sylvan bat fur. From what I've noticed early in the morning the giant wasp warriors start spawning. Kill all of these you can as I have seen them spawn in the same locations as the bats. Two spawning spots I have seen are 1) to the left of CB as you exit it, just after the last hut in the ditch. 2) is way out the other side near where the named orc and arconist spawn. And sometimes seem to spawn right near orc hill. Then early afternoon I have noticed an over abundance of large spiders and arboreans (mature and saplings) I kill all of these I can, as it helps pass the time and still get a little experience while waiting on others to spawn. I have seen a large spider spawn at the same location as the bats and warriors before as well. Good idea to get em out of the way. Then later in the afternoon to evening the bats start spawning. It takes alot of kills to find the furs as it seems they are very rare. I was lucky enough to find 2 drop on one mob once. 15 hours later got my last one. The full suit looks great and has some very nice stat mods for newbie gear. As for the giant wasp warrior parts, it seems pollen drops the most, tergites are second with a very slow drop rate, and the sternites are the hardest it seems to drop. Have only seen 4 of these the whole time I was hunting for my furs. But good luck for the rest of you on this and I hope this will help you find those furs.

Fight well

Hard Stuff them Bat furs

It seems the bats tend to hand around Orc hill and only Rarely drop furs. I have done BP and Gauntlets Working on Greaves Now. I have everything for everything else but need those stupid furs!! =) I am hoping that the more large sylvan bats and the more sylvan bats you kill, the more Giant sylvan bats spawn. Anyone think the same?

All I know is that it can be done. Where and how often these Giant Sylvan Bats drop I have no clue. I petitioned a gm today and told him that there needs to be more bats and warrior wasps in the area. The more people you have doing the quest or quests that involve bat fur and warrior parts, the more animals you need. Supply and Demand.

hiyas - where is the best place to hunt these things? - I have all the stuff I need for the arnours cept the thorax for the breastplate (hehe) apart from these giant bat furs. I have been hunting around orc hill and probably 10 or so of these giants bats but not one fur.... and the bats are hard to find. Any thoughts anyone?

Yea, ive been hunting these things for nearly 3 full days, killed like a hundred and only once saw two giant bat furs drop off one bat someone else killed before they just vanished (it was killed with spells), so i still don't have 1 piece of the fur yet, tried killing them with my Ranger, Druid and Paladin just in case they we're a minimal loot item. I sent in a bug form lot of good it will do.

They spawn in a narrow band around orc hill with somehere between 2-6 an hour, the pristine drakeling scale is easier to find than this giant bat fur, at least theres hundreds of the drakelings around

More info for those that are interested, finally got two giant sylvan bat furs last night, (and a pristine scale which was way easier), the bats seem to spawn between 6pm and 10pm if that helps anyone looking, so i used the fur on the breastplate, looks great.

Around orc hill is the best place to find them in my experience. Your best bet is to find a ranger to partner up with. Tracking makes finding this stuff *so* much easier.

did you already combine the ore one WATER FLASK (not foraged pod) and the mold in the forge. Note that it is a two step process. make the crude bronze greaves, then combine with the other items in the box.

Also, make sure you are suing the right box. I got several of these to use in my bank, and they all look identical, so if you have more than one, check the name.

yes I did have the crude bronze greaves in there, had the right box and still it won't work

after you make the crude bronze geaves you need to combine all the items you collected in the box then combine the crude bronze and the item you get from the collected items combined to get the greaves
well, not yet!

I have been trying to do the pally armour quest since the patch and all i have managed to get so far is the helm, gloves, bracers and boots.
The rest of the stuff needs Giant sylvian bat fur such as these greaves. I dont know about the rest of you guys but this stuff is as rare as rocking horse crap but i know it does exist, i actually saw a giant fur before it poofed right before my eyes, oh well.

I'm not sure of the drop rate on those, but I got one with my ranger from the first giant sylvan bat I killed. I made a pally very happy =)
