You say, 'Hail, Yuin Starchaser'

Yuin Starchaser says 'Welcome to the Keepers of the Art friend Allakhazam. I am Yuin Starchaser and it is my pleasure to assist new scholars wishing to study the arts of Enchantment, Wizardry, and Magery. Although much can be learned within these halls there is no substitute for experiences gained in the world outside Felwithe. The Koada'Dal have many enemies however, and it is wise to be prepared to face them. If you are new to the Keepers of the Art I will assist you in obtaining a [robe and clothing] suitable for study in the wilds.'

You say, 'what robe and clothing'

Yuin Starchaser says 'You will need this specially prepared Curing Kit to craft the Art Keepers clothing. The materials required vary depending on the piece of clothing you desire to craft. Once you have been outfitted in the garments return to me and you may be assistance with [another task]. Do you desire to craft a [art keepers cap], [art keepers wristband], [art keepers gloves], [art keepers boots], [art keepers sleeves], [art keepers pantaloons], or [art keepers robe]?'

You say, 'I desire art keepers boots'

Yuin Starchaser says 'To craft Art Keepers Boots you require two [silk thread], giant wasp worker pollen, a woven spider silk, and two ruined forest drakeling scales. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Curing Kit with this Tattered Boot Pattern.'

Completed 10/24/08 on Fennin Ro Server. If looking for a specific mob need to kill trash mobs for them to Spawn. Did this with a 68 Druid for tracking and 12 Mage. Took a total of 5 hours to get all the pieces I needed. I know you can do the newbie quests but I feel much more accomplished if I obtain the pieces myself.

for the silk threads (a) the answer is:

Skill: Tailoring
Trivial: 16
Cost to Produce: pp
Quantity Produced: 1
Notes:
No Fail Recipe

found it myself...

and, as it is a "no fail" recipe, you can improve your tailoring skill easily.

I have also had problems make this stuff with the curing kit. I have a regular old cap pattern bought at felwithe the recipe say tattered but I am not sure where to get these at. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tankytime

When you ask to craft a certain item Yuin will tell you what you need to collect, and give you the tattered pattern.
RE: Art keeper quest
# Mar 20 2003 at 1:32 AM Rating: Decent
No, the ingediants listed are not combining.

EDIT: Unlike some of the other quests I have done, this one requires you to put the pattern in with the items and combine them all at once. Doh!

Where to find the Pollens
# Dec 21 2002 at 2:03 PM Rating: Good
I'm a very lowly High Elf Enchanter which found this quest to be one of the best, funest and mosy rewarding quest to date (though I haven't been on EQ for every long) I found the wasp pollens to be the hardest on this quest (the Prestine Drakeling scales was the easiest for me, endded up with three) The Drone pollen was a snap (these things are everywhere) But the Worker proved to be a challenge to find, they hang out around the hill by the Newbie lift. The Warrior pollens are the toughest (still haven't gotten all of them) They only appear around the Orc Lift and beyond (where the higher level orcs hang out) I have found 4 of these in the two hours I searched. The first I got a pollen off of, the next two only had wings and the last endded up killing me (with the help of two Orc Cents) To take them down I hit them with my best nuke spell and then melee with them with my pet.
Happy hunting!
Complete Item List
# Dec 13 2002 at 8:54 PM Rating: Default
Alright, I've seen this done on other threads and it has helped when getting everything together, so here it is for the High Elf Int Caster noob armor.

Armor Items:
15 Silk Threads (30 Spiderling Silks)
8 Giant Wasp Worker Pollens
11 Woven Spider Silks
5 Ruined Forest Drakeling Scales
1 Forest Drakeling Scale
1 Pristine Forest Drakeling Scale

Weapon Items:
Orc Thaumaturgists Spell Book
Pristine Forest Drakeling Scale (this is the second one, if you're keeping count)
Arborean Amber

Full Stats of ALL items when equiped:
CHA: 8
INT: 16
AGI: 6
DEX: 7
Mana: 10
AC: 21
2HB 8dmg 34dly

Clearly not one of the best noob armor sets around there, and they only redeeming value on the weapon is that it is magic, so you can use it against willowisps, but as for the weapon, that's about it. Get a different weapon as soon as possible. It does feel good to actually finish the complete quest, though, so for those of you who have, give yourselves a pat on the back, since you clearly have more heart than the 12 year olds who only want the shiniest weapons. Besides, when you're a caster, what are you going to do with a weapon anyways? Rooting and nuking, staying in groups, and letting your pets die while you get distance between a red mob is the way of a caster, and if you can't enjoy the social aspects of EverQuest, why aren't you off playing Dungeon Siege instead? Besides, people who complete the noob quests are much more likely to get an epic later on, since they are the people who will stick with a quest and complete it, no matter what. These are the types of people I would want in a group and in a guild.

3 Gaint Wasp Warrior Pollens
1 Gaint Wasp Drone Pollen

I found a spawn spot for a Gaint Worker Wasp the spawn time is every 10 sec. It's at loc n663,p282. I collected all my Gaint Worker Wasp Pollen in about an hour. Now if I can find a spawn site for the spiders I would be doing good. Hope this helpful.

I found a good place to hunt spiders not a spawn site just a good place. It's around p1635,n798.
Just watch out for wasp warroirs (they will agro if your fighting anything) and ork centies.
have fun.
Its good, but...
# Oct 11 2002 at 8:25 AM Rating: Excellent
The stats for the complete suit are quite good for the level you get them at. The downside is that getting all the necesary components is a major PAIN. Lots of NoDrop items and rare drops, especially the Pristene Drakeling Scale. When I began these quests, they were fairly new, and GFay was clogged with players trying to get the needed parts. Its not quite so bad now, but be prepared for a long haul on these quests. There's a lot of overlap in needed parts between the Felwithe, Kelethin, and even Kaladim newbie armor quests.
Won't work

Help! I tried making the boots - and cap and gloves - but it said the items wouldn't combine in that container! Why? I was using the right things in the right amounts, in the Curing Kit. If anyone has any info, please help.
RE: Won't work
# Aug 13 2002 at 2:51 PM Rating: Default
I didn't have a problem. Did you make sure not to stack the items? Each item must be in it's own slot (i.e. the scales will occupy 2 slots).

Finally, decent gear for newbies for approriate risk. I agree with Elatriel, the drakeling skales are RARE, escpecially with bards hunting for them too for their newbie armor. My advice....do not get rid of scales at all, you will either need them or you can sell/trade them to bards. The warrior pollen is far less common than the worker pollen needed for other Art Keeper quests.

BTW, the armor is green, of a shade to match green silken drape, which i am currently wearing. I have the boots, gloves, sleeves and pantaloons so all of my visible clothing is green. I have had more people inspect me in the last day than in a year.
