After completing the Cursed Wafers quest, talk to Hierophant Oxyn in the Temple of Terror.

You say, 'What lost skulls?'

Hierophant Oxyn says, 'You must have heard of the Trilac Brotherhoods disappearance. They are the skulls of three soon to be ancients. They were taken from this temple by a silent intruder. Crusaders are always on duty. I do not know how they got into our vault. Every petitioner is ordered to search for the three skulls and return them to me along with their petitioner cudgel and then they shall become clairvoyants.'

You say, 'What Iron Cudgel of the Clairvoyant?'

Hierophant Oxyn shakes his head and waves a finger in your face. If you are looking to be handed the Iron Cudgel of the Clairvoyant then you are sadly mistaken. Perhaps if you were to gather a few [lost skulls] for the temple we may find you worthy to wield one.'

You need to gather the skulls to find out how the get the cudgel. The three skulls are named Waz, Morgl and Logrin. The intruder (an iksar outcast) can be found in the "sewer" area of East Cabilis (he may also spawn in the Swamp of No Hope).

To get to the sewers from the Temple of Terror, take either of the teleporters inside the guild up onto the balcony and descend down the eastern tower. Following these corridors you should eventually come to a broken path with a big hole leading down, jumping off should land you in a pool of water. In this area are mostly mosquitoes and scorpions, with the occasional decaying skeleton. Less common spawns here are Iksar outcasts and giant leeches. One known spawn location is by the stone stairs just past the drop down point.

Collect all three skulls, and hand them in to Hierophant Oxyn along with the Iron Cudgel of the Petitioner you received when you gave your guild note to the guild master (not the wooden one).

Hierophant Oxyn says "In my hand shall be placed three skulls of the Trilac Brotherhood and an iron cudgel of the petitioner".

After cudgel turn-in:

Hierophant Oxyn says "Excellent! You have proved yourself worthy to wield the iron cudgel of the clairvoyant. As a clairvoyant I feel I can trust you, so I will tell you that the issue of the missing skulls is a [much larger problem] than last stated.'

You receive some faction, coinage, your very own Iron Cudgel of the Clairvoyant and the second skull quest.

Quick details about this camp on the random loot servers (Mischief / Thornblade).

These can drop from any of the named in Kurns:
undead crusader
fingered skeleton
an undead jester
a skeletal cook

What can drop from those mobs? The skulls?

I just did this quest on TLP Aradune. Run through the sewers killing as much as you can and I found it spawned more than it did when I was camping in one location. Took 3 days of camping it off and on to get 2 of the skulls ... another 3 days to get the last one. This guy is really rare! Had multiple drops of skulls I had already looted. Time consuming but the end product is worth it. Good luck!

You can take the entrance through the bottom of the shaman guild by using the east tower. The Iksar Outcast spawns in the room past the false wall (same room with the stone stairs).

Is this quest now broke? I've searched all over the sewers and can't find any type of mob up, nothing at all.

edit... just took my ranger to east cabilis and the only mobs that are up are numerous "a young scaled wolf" and 3 "a froglok slave" so none of the mobs listed in this quest walkthrough are spawning.

Can someone verify if the spawns are broken? May need to clear the area...

Verification that the entire quest chain is still active would be good, we'll assume so as progression servers seem to have all these quests currently running with various end-points not activated in Kunark era (as they were mostly finished or added onto around Omens of War).

He spawns in a very specific location: cabilis -> shaman guild -> upper tower (the one that leades to a long drop to rocks and water below, in a round room) -> drop down -> go through first cave area into 2nd cave area via a 1 way wall marked with a black symbol. In this room will be 3 mobs, 2 stationary and one that roams in and out. As you face into the 3rd room, the quest mob spawns at the left spawn point. Always. Respawn time is about 2 mins 20 sec. You DO NOT have to clear the whole sewer, just this room. To be safe, I cleared the 3 mobs in the next room (2 stationary on either side of the stairs, one at the top of the stairs.) It works.

If you're Iksar you have enough time to clear the mobs and do one Forage cycle and the mob or PH will repop. Which skull he drops is random of the 3 and dupes can drop. Bring another shm friend to talk to and to take any dupes :) The quest mob is rare. It took me approx. 3 hours to get all 3 skulls, and that was with only 4 appearances by him. So something less than 30 PH spawns per hour and he spawned 4 times over 2-3 hours.
Camped him on Ragefire progression server.

Getting out...
# Oct 01 2004 at 3:07 AM Rating: Decent
You have to jump up like four feet to get out of the water. How the heck are you supposed to do that?
RE: Getting out...
# Nov 15 2004 at 11:48 PM Rating: Decent
I know this is a pain in the ***** but you can get out. Takes some effort and patience but it you will eventually 'bounce' out of the water. Also like to add, this is even more difficult with levitate on unlike the tower (shaman/bl temple).

This is about as nerve-wracking as getting to the top tier of the tower to get to the Beastlords area (which takes some patience and practice too if you dont have levitate on).

Tried for nearly half an hour, could not jump or bounce out. Guess i have to wait for level 14 levitate and drop down the pit. What a major pain!!

Yes, jumping out of the water is broken nowadays. Probably the same reason it's so damned hard to get out of water onto an overhang like in the Cabilis 'docks'

However you can get to the sewers area by jumping down the hole under the tower of the SK guild and then going through a false wall in the attached cave.
Would it be possible?

Would it be possible for me to do this quest with my Vah Shir shaman? I know it would involve massive amounts of faction work or buying those expensive as hell Iksar illusion potions. Or is this quest for evil races only? I'd really like to do it.

Yes, all the Cab quests can be done by any race with suitable faction. Even with Iksar illusion potions, you'll still need to do faction work. For those of you asking how to get a newbie weapon, you can either do the penance quest which takes forever, or start an iksar of that class and MQ the weapon.

If you lose your newbie item, or want a new one (especially useful for monks who want their Whistling Fists and Shackle of Tynnonium) you have to do The Penance quest.

It's easy enough, just can be slow. Get haste and boost yer dex as high as you can. Took my monk, with worn 23% haste and 140ish dex about 15-30 minutes to complete.

Easiest way to check for Scaled Mystics faction (if you have PoP) is to go to the OT book, and look for the iksar outside the wall to the outpost, con him, he's on Scaled Mystics faction.

Also can con Crusader Quarg in FOB (he's on Scaled Mystics faction, NOT Crusaders of Greenmist faction like the other crusaders are).

Or check Ssolet Dnaas in Warsliks.

Once you're at least amiable (note that shamans who follow non-evil deities never can be non-KOS to Scaled Mystics, so besides iksar only ogres and trolls can do this) just find one of the shamans on the first floor of the guild who when hailed asks if you lost your cudgel. Say yes, and he'll start you on the path to replace your newbie weapon (well in this case get you one you never had) and when finished you'll get Iron Cudgel of the Petitioner, what an iksar shaman would have got if he turned in his newbie note. At that point you can do the reat of the cudgel quests as you normally would if you were iksar.

The quest you do is similar for all the iksar classes, only difference is who starts and ends the quest.

Instructions are in Lizardman, so either get an iksar to teach you the language or just look up here how to do it. Is a pretty basic quest.

Faction Patch?
# Apr 13 2003 at 11:47 AM Rating: Decent
Troll Shammy here, thought that being a Cazic worshiper would help. Got to dubious and started turning in bone chips... and then with the patch came a faction change.

Bought an Iksar potion, did the MQ with a new Iksar shammy and poof! new cudgel.

Very surprised that it was no longer Iksar only, but VahShir, Barb, Ogre, Iksar and Troll

Yep, hehe, all the formerly iksar only ladder quests now can be used by any race that can be that class. Though vah shir, barbarian, and froglok shamans will have too much of a faction hurdle here; as followers of non-evil deities that can't ever be non-KOS to Scaled Mystics. Pretty much only the ogres and trolls can do this (besides iksar of course) once they get the faction.

Also, read above, it's not necessary to get the first cudgel by MQ (though maybe you'd prefer to); you can do a quest that iksar would do to "replace" their lost cudgel. It also works to get one you never had.

I have dubious faction to the shamans (and almost all other iksars) due to turning in 2000+ bones

I decided to test iksar potions to see what effect, if any it had on faction.

I went from dubious to WARMLY! =)

At the time of this posting, I am a Barbarian Shaman of the 54th Circle on the Veeshan server. I worked my faction in Cabilis to max faction with everyone excepting the Necros. This has left my faction standing at Indifferent. I created a mule Iksar shaman to do the initial turn in of the petitioner’s cudgel and followed it up with the three skulls only to have them eaten by Hierophant Oxyn because my faction was not good enough. It does NOT matter what the original person’s faction is… Your faction HAS to be Amiable in order to do these quests.

I went back out and was fortunate enough to get the three skulls in about 45 minutes of hunting in the sewers. I then handed everything I had for the first 4 cudgels to my new Shaman mule, Cujilquestor (everything for the first 4 cudgel quests is tradable except for the Froglok Hex Doll). I then SOW’d, HOS’d and Invisied CQ and dragged him out to Warslik Woods. I proceeded to slay a Goblin Hextracer and had CQ loot the Froglok Hex Doll (my original doll was eaten by Zand, again due to faction issues). Took CQ to kill a giant where he immediately died and ended up in the field of bone and had him run through the first 4 cudgel quests on his own.

When it came time for the 5th cudgel I used an Ornate Velium Pendant and cast Alliance on Hierophant Zand. This brought my faction up to amiable, not only with Zand, but with everyone on Scaled Mystics faction in the zone. CQ handed in the 4th cudgel, and I followed up with the 2 skulls of Dai and Die Nozok, and I received the 5th cudgel!

From there I located Hierophant Dexl (he was a tough one for me to find… thank goodness for the new LoY maps! – for those searching him out he is through the western shimmering curtain, down to the bottom of the West Tower and in those rooms in the basement of the Temple of Terror). Here is where I received a shock… Dexl conned amiable, but when I went through the text with him he handed me the, “'You will only obtain that which you seek by assisting the wills of the Scaled Mystics.” line leaving me to believe my faction wasn’t good enough to proceed. Like a fool, I used another charge from my Ornate Velium Pendant and he still conned amiable, and still gave me the same message. Here I just closed my eyes and handed in the 5th cudgel and the 3 skulls anyway. Fortunately I was awarded the 6th cudgel! Using an Iksar Shaman mule and only a single shot of Alliance from the Ornate Velium Pendant, you can complete the first 6 cudgel quests as a Barbarian. Just make sure you have all the skulls necessary before you proceed.

I still need to collect the dusty skull and glowing skulls to go on with the 7th, as well as just a few items from the 8th. I will update as I complete these cudgels.

I hope this helps any Barbarians out there wanting to do these excellent quests!

The following is the text I had with Hierophant Dexl (I hate that I wasted that shot of alliance!)

Hierophant Dexl judges you amiably -- what would you like your tombstone to say?
You say, 'Hail, Hierophant Dexl'
Hierophant Dexl seems to be preoccupied. He is examining an egg. 'What?!! Who has [sent] you to me? Bah!! Away with you.' He ignores you and continues chanting.
You say, 'di nozok sent me'
Hierophant Dexl says 'You will only obtain that which you seek by assisting the wills of the Scaled Mystics.'
Hierophant Dexl judges you amiably -- what would you like your tombstone to say?

[Used another charge from my Ornate Velium Pendant (DOH!)]
Hierophant Dexl looks friendly.

Hierophant Dexl says 'You will only obtain that which you seek by assisting the wills of the Scaled Mystics.'

[Gritted my teeth, closed my eyes and handed the items in anyway]
You are no longer encumbered.
Hierophant Dexl begins to shudder and his eyes roll into his head. He speaks with a feminine voice. 'Within the hands of Hierophant Dexl shall be placed the three skulls of the Sisters of Scale and an iron cudgel of the Channeller. Then you shall have the cudgel of this lizard.'

Hierophant Dexl goes into a trance and speaks with the voice of an ancient. 'You have returned the skulls of the Sisters of Scale. For this you shall be rewarded. Take this hierophant's weapon. May you use it to smite the foes of our people.' Dexl comes out of the trance. 'What?!! Whew. Hey!! Where is my cudgel?'
Your faction standing with Scaled Mystics could not possibly get any better.
Your faction standing with Legion Of Cabilis could not possibly get any better.
You gain party experience!!
You receive 3 platinum from Hierophant Dexl.

[Heave a GREAT sigh of relief as I admire my new Iron Cudgel of the Hierophant]

Just wanted to post an update on my progress in the Cudgel quests. Unfortunately due to RL concerns I have been unable to return to EQ for a while, but I have been doing some studying. It appears to me that the only folks you MUST be Amiable with are the Quest NPC’s that will award the cudgel to you. All the other NPC’s can apparently be dealt with at Indifferent. I am basing this hypothesis on a few observations that I have had:

1. While working on the third cudgel I handed in the Froglok Hex Doll to Hierophant Zand while Indifferent and he ate it. Hierophant Zand does not award the third cudgel, but he does award the fifth cudgel leading me to believe that Amiable is needed with him for any turn-ins.
2. While working on the sixth cudgel I was able to deal with the Coerced Channeler / Vagnar the Channeler, Atheling Plague / Clerk Doval and Klok Sargin / Bruiser Noz at Indifferent.
3. Though I have not verified it for myself pahreyia posted this on the seventh cudgel, “Just in case your shaman is a gimp and dies in HS with no cleric around when the Dusty Skull drops, have a rogue loot it, it can be MQ'd for the turnins to the Heirophant and Oracle using sneak/hide.” Which leads me to believe it can be done at Indifferent, since you are Indifferent to everyone using sneak/hide. Of course with Hierophant Granix being the one that awards the seventh cudgel it seems to me that he would have to be Amiable for the first turn-in of the dusty skull. But perhaps the first turn-in to Granix isn’t necessary? Something I cannot answer at this time.
4. Lastly, I do know that Oracle Vauris will accept the Shrunken Iksar Skull Necklace and return the Bag of Iksar Skull Dust at Indifferent as I tested this out before heading back into Kaesora to assist with a few HS keys. As far as the second turn-in to Vauris with the 4 items, I have yet to verify if Indifferent would be sufficient, though I am willing to bet it is.

If only the final turn-ins need be done at Amiable with each cudgel, then it should be possible for a Barbarian Shaman to complete all eight cudgels with judicious use of an Iksar Shaman mule and only 3 charges of Alliance from the Ornate Velium Pendant (perhaps only 2 charges if the first turn-in of the Dusty Skull to Granix is unnecessary). Just be sure to have all the needed items to complete the seventh cudgel before starting your quests:

1. Have your mule turn in the items for the first four cudgels (all items are droppable for the first four except for the Froglok Hex Doll).
2. Cast first Alliance and MQ the fifth cudgel.
3. Complete the sixth cudgel and turn in the Dusty Skull to Hierophant Granix while still under the influence of the first Alliance (if you do not zone, camp or quit you will remain Amiable to everyone on Mystic faction in Cabilis).
4. Go deal with Oracle Qulin and an Arisen Iksar, return to Granix and cast your second Alliance to complete the seventh cudgel (or if handing the dusty skull to Granix is unnecessary, deal with Qulin before MQing the fifth cudgel, and do the turn-in for the seventh cudgel under the first Alliance influence).
5. Complete all the necessary turn-ins for the eighth cudgel with Oracle Vauris and I am guessing with An Arisen Iksar Apparition and after killing Venril Sathir and his cohorts in HS, cast your final Alliance on the Spirit of Rile for your eighth cudgel turn-in.

I can only positively vouch for the parts I completed on my own as shown in these two posts. All other information has been gleaned from other posts or is guesswork on my part. If RL ever allows me to return to complete these quests I will post my findings. Sorry for the long-windedness, but hope this information is useful to a few folks out there.

*Edit=fixed a glaring spelling issue*

This is how I did it with a Human Agnostic Monk, so people of different race/religion may have to put more effort into getting non kos but to date I have seen a Dark Elf Shadowknight and a Troll Shaman also non kos in Cabilis so I assume that those races and religion(Innoruuk I would think)can do it. YOU WILL DIE WHILE TRYING TO RAISE IKSAR FACTION, be prepared for this, either outside of town turning in bonechips or in town when you encounter a iksar who's faction is still kos to you(primarily necro guild types). Make an iksar newbie mule and when you die /consent your mule name, camp, and use mule to drag corpse someplace you can recover it without dying again.
I recommend getting somebody to bind you(or bind yourself if you have the spell) at the Kaesora Ruins in Field of Bone to make corpse recoveries faster.

1. Basicly to raise Legions of Cabilis faction kill tons of goblins, sarnaks, and especially outcast Iksar types(raises faction with Iksar Necromancer Guild as well) throughout Kunark, LOIO, WW, FOB, OT, etc, doesnt matter where you get the faction. Do this until you get the Troopers around cabilis entrances to con non Kos, ie apprehensive, dubious, etc.

2. Okay, Legions is just guard faction, to do quests, bank, and buy/sell to Iksar merchants you need to raise the other factions of cabilis(exception, using sneak skill and being behind a merchant you can sell/buy as if indifferent faction, also works for training in guilds). Best way is four bonechips at a time to Trooper Mozo in Field of Bone at the entrance to cabilis. You have to be careful to avoid the Crusader Iksar who patrol the area around the gate as you will be kos to them until you have turned in thousands of bonechips. However if you stand in the corner just close enough to hand bonechips to Mozo you will be out of agro range of them as they leave and return from the entrance, though its a bit scary.

3. Turn in THOUSANDS of bonechips to Mozo four at a time, one in each trade slot(you can no longer put four in each slot to get four faction hits at a time, Verant "fixed" that). Each turn in raises faction one point with Legion, Shamans, Monks, Shadowknights, and Merchants. Human agnostic monk took about 3500 bonechips, I am told those with religion different from Iksar take over 5000 to do it. Note, those numbers were to get AMIABLE in order to do quests at monk guild (indifferent they won't award you quests) if your just trying to be non kos and able to train at the guilds you can get away with turning in far less. Con the Crusader patrollers in FoB to see how your faction progress is, when they are no longer KOS it is so much easier turning in bonechips.

4. Until you kill literally hundreds of Iksar outlaws you will still be kos with the Iksar Necromancers so you need to learn where they are in town and avoid them like the plague. If you can FD, sneak/hide, or invis yourself be prepared to use those tactics as much as possible to avoid agros(guards will assist an agro'd npc even if your normally not kos to them). To date my monk is only dubious with the necromancers from killing about 700(guesstimate) outlaws and I know of no other way to raise faction with them unless your an enchanter using Illusion Iksar and faction raising spell.

5. Do the penance quest to get the beginning newbie item for the guild you are trying to quest in. I did it for the monk guild but there are npcs in every iksar guild who act similarly. I am wearing the sixth iksar monk shackle bracer so I believe that is suitable proof that the method I have outlined works for non Iksar. Long post but every bit of it is useful I think.

PS sorry I mis spelled Iksar in the subject name LOL, but once your done flaming me for that read the rest of the post.

You get the cudgel from turning in your newbie note.
