First, the trivials:

Vial of Quicksilver Temper is brewed and trivial at 135. The Yttrium Steel Sheet has a high smithing trivial (335). Both of these items are droppable. The final combines' trivial levels are in the mid to upper 100s. The final weapons are no drop, so you have to produce them yourself.

Quicksilver Temper is made by combining Shissar Blood (dropped off Shissars), Fungoid Sap (from Ancient Shriekers in the Deep), ShikNar Ichor (from the Shik'Nars in Fungus Grove) and Meteor Dust (random drop in The Grey).

The Yttrium Steel Sheet is made by combining two Small Bricks of Yttrium Ore and the Quicksilver Temper.

The final combine produces the weapon of your choice. The bow is fletched, while all others are smithed. Use the Quicksilver Temper, an Yttrium Steel Sheet, and the following:

  • Bow - Oak Bow Staff, Planing Tool, Silk String

  • Dagger - Dagger Blade Mold, Hilt Mold, Pommel Mold

  • Falchion - Curved Blade Mold, Hilt Mold, Pommel Mold

  • Long Sword - Long Blade Mold, Hilt Mold, Pommel Mold

  • Mace - Mace Head Mold, Oak Shaft

  • Short Sword - Short Blade Mold, Hilt Mold, Pommel Mold

  • Spiked Gloves - High Quality Rockhopper Hides (2)

  • War Axe - Axe Head Mold, Oak Shaft

  • War Hammer - Hammer Head Mold, Oak Shaft

With augs in weapons with a proc becoming commonplace for people lvls 46 and up, would the proc hit seru even if blade damage doesn't similar to Emp SSRA?

However the main tank should have one bane weapon because otherwise it'd be hard to hold Seru's aggro. All other dps can use normal weapon that has procs.
RE: Aug damage?
# Jan 24 2006 at 4:47 PM Rating: Default
Incorrect.

Aggro from melee is not determined by the damage dealt, but by the Potential damage of the weapon (working from dmg/delay). (check the steel warrior forums if you don't believe me, it's been parsed and re parsed by people with more paitience than me)

Where does this quest originate?
Is there an NPC that gives out the
information or drops notes indicating
the recipes?
Eqtraders mentions a "Book 1" and a
"Book 2" that contain notes relating
the methods used to craft both Seru's
armor and weapons to defeat that armor.
Anyone have a clue who/what drops these
books or where they may be purchased?

molds needed

The description above can be a little misleading. All the combines take one quicksilver temper and an yttrium steel sheet (which requires an additional temper to make). In addition to those two items, you'll need the following:
Dagger - dagger blade mold, hilt mold, pommel mold
Falchion - curved blade mold, hilt mold, pommel mold
Bow - oak bow staff, planing tool, silk string made by fletching and not by smithing
Long sword - long blade mold, hilt mold, pommel mold
Mace - mace head mold, oak shaft
Short Sword - short blade mold, hilt mold, pommel mold
Spiked Gloves - HQ Rockhopper hide X2
War Axe - axe head mold, oak shaft
War Hammer - hammer head mold, oak shaft

The steel sheets trivial at 335, so you'll want to have a high end smith made those for you. You will only need enough smithing (or fletching) skill to make the final weapon since the sheets are not NoDrop. The final items seem to trival somewhere in the low to mid 100's. The smithed combines can be done in any of the regular forges (Noratthian and Tannan). The bow can similarly be made in either a regular fletching kit or the planar one. I don't think these can be done in any of the cultural forges (or fletching kits), but haven't heard anything definitive.
MQ'able?
# Mar 05 2004 at 2:01 PM Rating: Decent
Are the combines for this MQ able?
RE: MQ'able?
# Jun 14 2004 at 6:44 PM Rating: Decent
The components needed for this combine are not NoDrop. So, in a sense they're MQable even though this isn't a quest per se. You will need to do the final combine yourself. So, you'll need to get your smithing skill (or fletching if you're making the bow) up.
Trivials
# Dec 22 2003 at 11:17 AM Rating: Decent
The smithed weapons all trivial between 123 and 142 smithing skill. The Bow trivials below 145 fletching. The temper trivials below 157 brewing.

And the sheets probably have a trivial much higher than 250, because a 250 smith with trophy can still fail more than half of that combine.
Axe trivial

War Axe was trivial for me with smithing at 155 + geerlok
2 Quicksilver Tempers?
# Nov 02 2003 at 12:49 PM Rating: Decent
While reading the quest above it says you need to use quicksilver temper to create the yttrium steel sheet and another one for the final combine. So basically I want to confirm that you need 2 quicksilver tempers per weapon.

The Quicksilver temper was trivial for me when I made it at skill 168. It must trivial somewhere below that.

I am very curious the smithing trivial for the final weapon.

This bow is trivial at 175. I made this tonight with a skill of 188 by combining:

Quick silver temper
Yttrium sheet
Oak bow staff
Silk string
Planing tool

Well, since that worked, what about this combine?

Quicksilver Temper
Yttrium steel sheet
Shadewood Bow Staff
2 Standard Bow Cams
Planing Tool
Hemp/Linen/Silk String

If that worked, I'm sure the ratio would be godly.
Anyone think it'd work?
If it did, using the silk string, I'd wager the stats would be something like:
34dmg/26dly/255rng with bane of at least 10
Of course the trivial would be above 250 though.

Who knows, maybe you could throw some Woodelf cultural into this... Use:

Quicksilver Temper
Yttrium steel sheet
durable planar beam
2 standard bow cams
mithril working knife
light/strong mithril string (Maybe this could be the use for the strong Mithril string, since there isn't any known use yet.)

I don't know about the cultural, just a thought.
As far as I can tell, the Serubane/yttrium weapons are just basic weapon recipes with the temper and yttrium sheet included.
If that is true... then I don't really see any end to what could be made.

Anyone out there agree with me?

I think it's a magnificant idea! Unfortunatly, I doubt SoE would even CONSIDER making tradeskills that interesting, especially fletching.

a pommel for 'A Fist'?

this particular crafted weapon is a fist... so my question is, what pommel do you use to make this? None or is there one for hand to hand type weapons? I am not a smithy yet, but was curious.

Thanks.

old post i know, but for future readers -- meteor dust is fairly common off the sun revs. earlier while camping shard i got 3 or 4 dusts in 8 kills (no shard, gonna have to go back later =\)

see my post on the bestiary entry for the 'a sun revenant' for info on em, easy but long solos at 62.

Won't be No-Drop
# Sep 21 2002 at 9:43 PM Rating: Default
There is no way that they would make either of the ingredients no drop, that would just be ridiculous. They only a GM brewer or a GM smith could have one of the weapons, and last i knew, not many of the Big guilds out there are made up of ONLY brewers or smiths. Wont have to worry about it.

The temper ingredients ARE droppable. The yttrium ore and sheets ARE droppable. The final weapon is no-drop. Brewing skill needed is under 228 (you get a "you can no longer raise your skill making this item" message at that skill level).

Fungoid Saps appear to be the bottle-neck for making the Quicksilver tempers (at least on my server).
do i have to be that good at those or can be done with frien

RE: do i have to be that good at those or can be done with f
# Sep 12 2002 at 6:09 AM Rating: Decent
Both.

The hard part is the tempers and the sheets. Those can be done by a grandmaster. The final weapon requires much lower skill (not certain how much I heard 175 was fine), but you need to do that combine yourself.

The weapons
# Jul 23 2002 at 9:27 AM Rating: Default
I belive that the temper is dropable, and that the Yttrium steel sheet is as well. So that you just need one GM Brewer, and one GM Smith to help in the creation of these weapons.

The final weapon's triv combine is way lower than that of the Yttrium steel sheet. If would be good to at least get your smithing up above 150 to be on teh safe side for the weapon combine.

These weapons are very much like the Corrupt Shissar weapons. The damage and delay are not very good unless you are killin in Seru. These are the only weapons that can hit Lord Inquisitor Seru. That is their real purpose.
