This quest is available for Human Paladins of Marr.

You say, 'Hail, Edwardian Holyblade'

Edwardian Holyblade says 'Greetings and well met Dukane. I am Edwardian Holyblade, noble paladin of Marr. I have devoted my life and my blade to the glory of Mithaniel Marr. I am also in charge of training all new paladins of Marr to make sure that they have the best training necessary. If you are a paladin of Marr I may have some [training] for you.'

You say, 'what training'

Edwardian Holyblade says 'I have developed a training program for all young and upcoming Paladins of Marr. My tests will enable you to learn some basic hunting, navigating and armor crafting skills. All of these abilities will be very important on your path to enlightenment. If you are [ready to begin my tests] I will explain to you how the tests will work.'

You say, 'i am ready to begin your tests'

Edwardian Holyblade says 'Very well Krohfak, I look forward to seeing you progress through your training. Here is your special mail assembly kit. In this kit you will combine a number of components that you will collect from all areas of Freeport, North Ro and the Commonlands. The components that you will gather and combine in this kit will magical create a specific armor material piece. Each of these materials will be combined in a forge with the appropriate mold that I will provide you with. I will explain to you how the [recipes] work when you are ready.'

You say, 'what recipes'

Edwardian Holyblade says 'Once you have crafted your material from the specific recipes I give you you will need the appropriate mold as I mentioned before. I can present you with the recipe and mold for Truthbringers [Helms], [Bracers], [Armguards], [Boots], [Greaves], [Gauntlets] and [Breastplates]. When you are ready to being collecting the components for a material recipe simply tell me what piece you [want] to craft.'

You say, 'i want to craft a breastplate'

Edwardian Holyblade says 'Any paladins most important armor piece is always their breastplate. Should you succeed in crafting it your Truthbringer Breastplate will guard your upper body from any serious attacks that would otherwise be quite devasting. To create your breastplate material you will need to combine 5 Bricks of Crude Iron Ore, 1 Young Plains Cat Scalp, 1 Young Puma Skin, 1 Water Flask 1 Deathfist Orc Skull and 1 Giant Fire Beetle Carapace in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Truthbringers Breastplate. After you have completed your breastplate come back to see me for I have one final test for you.'

I just finished making this entire set. So far, I have done the newbie armor quests for Halfling Druid ,WoodElf Druid, and DElf Necro, and this, by far, was the easiest to complete as the only NO DROP items were the shadow wolf tibia and the young puma skin. All the rest were either easy drops or bought from vendors in W Freeport, E Freeport, EC, or No Ro. A big help was definitely the addition of the shared slots in the bank, as I was able to farm some items with my 20 Druid. I had to kill perhaps 15 Shadow wolves to get one to pop, and perhaps 10 Young Plains cats for the Puma skin. The longest and perhaps most difficult part was finding the 18 bricks of crude iron ore, as they weigh 15 each, and I would get seriously encumbered. Those bricks I couldn't buy, I looted off of orc pawns in EC. Took about 1 hour to get them all, of course I used my 20 Druid to track them. I could've had this armor at lvl 2 or 3, but I had done the Crushbone Belt turnin quest (see Kaladim North) to level to 9 really easily.
I was given a Mace of the Fallen Crusader, and got a Shiny Brass Shield in Crushbone, so now with this Truthbringers Armor, my character looks pretty uber !! So now I run around anon so nobody knows I'm only lvl 9! It's funny how many people have already come up asking me to give them my awesome Pally buffs (ooooh, Courage... LOL) and their puzzled reactions when that's all they get.... heh heh. Now I have to save up enough to buy some dye to give it a better look. The dull silver color is kinda lame.

I have been battling these miserable creatures in the EC for what seems like forever! I cannot get one to drop the magic, oh so special, green turtle shaped carapace. Is there some other place where these stupid beetles live where they might give up one of these shell thingys? I've been looking at the merchant's to buy one, but no luck there either! I tried the brown one and it did not work! Thanks for any help!

This evidently has been changed. I did the combine with my Pally with one of the non-turtleshell carapaces and it worked.

i have a suggestion way don't you kill some with a budy so each of you guys can kill 1 like you kill one and that othetr person kill one .............HEHE i think that would help ya ...........................
Easy
# Dec 09 2002 at 1:03 PM Rating: Decent
I found all this stuff so easy to get compared to the other newbie quests (especially the ones in Gfay). The young puma skin can be found off ANY, yes any, cat in EC or Nro the only other no drop item is the Shadow Wolf Tibia which is a common drop off shadow wolves about 1 in 4 or so. So take this into consideration when getting your armor!

Enter hall of truth.
Turn right. Open door. Up stairs. Should be able to see the sky.
Turn left, then righ (only way to go).
Big guy in armor right ahead of you? That's him.
Seems fixed!

Great news! I tried to make the breastplate using the old non-turtle Giant Fire Beetle Carapice, and it worked! Seems that they have fixed it, so that it doesn't require the special "turtle" GFBC.
Bugged Quest
# Jul 21 2002 at 4:42 PM Rating: Default
I Spent two days gathering up the items needed for the Breastplate. Spent another day trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. It turns out that I am doing nothing wrong, but verent has a bugged item. Tho I do see other Paladins running around with the Breastplat.. makes me think its a player specific bug maby?
I do know that my lvl 30 Necro couldent even get one piece of the newbie necro armor to work..
Will there be a Patch soon that will fix this?

Talvaren ->Paladin, lvl 10
Drhakar Lum'Dul -> Necro, lvl 30
Quest broken?
# Jul 20 2002 at 6:46 PM Rating: Decent
First off, I think it's crazy that there are two objects with exactly the same name, but with different graphics.

Beyond that, I finally got the turtle one, and combined with all other ingredients, but still no luck.

Seems to be broken on Rodcet Nife as well.
Doesn't work

No, the "bug" isn't fixed. He gave you the wrong ingredients in the recipe. Odds are he's a high level, and has forgotten his newbie quests, so no great suprise there. The correct recipe leaves out the rusty mace, and works perfectly.
The graphics are superb, if you have luclin.
Then again, if you don't have luclin, go buy it today, for the graphics alone!

Hi i can't get an answer from Holyblade when i hail him could some one plz tell me wtf is wrong ????????
RE: Cant talk to holyblade .
# Jun 09 2002 at 7:29 AM Rating: Default
I can`t talk to Holyblade either, I have talked to numerous GM`s and techs and they say they will fix it. In the meantime, if you go up and hail Holyblade and say "what training", "I am ready to begin your tests" and "I want to craft a breastplate" he will just give you the equipment without talking, you can at least get you breastplate done with the recipe that is up top of this forum. You can ask me questions anytime, I am online alot, mostly from 10am-10pm EST character name Zerik.

Holyblade is responding, the text is just not visible. I was having the same problem until I noticed that if I stood off to one side and hailed him, he turned to face me. Just as a test, I tried following the quest prompts. If you:

1. Hail him.
2. /say What training?
3. /say I am ready to begin your tests.
4. /say I want to craft a <insert piece here>.

the quest works fine. I know that I have submitted it as a bug myself, so hopefully they will fix it with the next patch.

You guys are so funny!
Here's what I noticed:
He talked to me the first time. I came back, he wouldn't respond. Walked around him, hailed him from the other side, he responds. Why?
Because HE"S BLIND ON THE RIGHT SIDE!
See the eyepatch? Read the text of his conversation? He wasn't wearing a helm when he was young, got hit on that side of his head, and is now blind, and probably deaf, on his right side!
That's why they haven't fixed the "bug"! There was no bug, just a really cool feature! And since they can't give away info, like the fact that nobody seems to have noticed this feature, they just said: "oh a bug? We'll be sure to fix it as soon as we can", left, and laughed all the way to the nearest gm-only bar!
Pretty cool feature, if I do say so myself, wish I saw more neat things like this around!
Oh, and the armour is beautiful with lucin graphics turned on full. SOme of the best I have ever seen.
are they rare drop?

Are the GFB carapaces (turtle shell shape)a rare drop?
Orc skulls

I managed to get my orc skull from the Erudite trader in the tunnel between EC and NRo.
recipe
# Jun 04 2002 at 10:48 PM Rating: Default
ok her is how it goes. you need the following for the bp:

5 bricks of crude iorn ore ( witch drops off of ALL orcs in ec)

1 water flask

1 deathfist skull (a very rear drop off of orcs at the ec orc camps, it will not drop off of pawns)

1 giant fire beetle carapace ( witch is also a very rare drop of of the GIANT fire beetles, it wont drop off of anything else. and i think it
comes in 2 forms both should work

1 young puma skin ( drops off of plain cats and young pumas also it is nodrop)

1 young plain cat pelt ( or something like that. it drops off of ONLY the plain cats)

well theres my 2 cents.

That's correct. Does not work unless the GFB carapace looks like turtle shell.

BUT, I did not find the one you need too hard to find. Might take you 10 GFBs, if you are unlucky. My wizzy seems to find them all the time. Also, /ooc that you need one every once in a while. My wizzy has helped several pallys out with this.

Man, I know what you mean. I've spent I'd say 8 hours and I can only find the shield looking carapaces. Personally I think there is something wrong with the drops because of the two items with the same name.
