Hand Loremaster Solstrin your Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl (Mark 1).

Loremaster Solstrin says 'Incredible! Never before has an outlander been skilled and determined enough to craft our sacred rune. You are now worthy of the Dain's most perilous task. You should seek an audience with the Dain immediately. Show him your Runed Prayer Shawl; he will give you the task that has been prepared for you. If the Dain is away show your Shawl to Chamberlain Krystorf and he will call for him.'

  • Receive Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl (Mark 1) and an Empty Coldain Issue Kit.

    Dain's Chamber - Icewell Keep

(note: This step is not required, if you spawn Dain, you may not respawn him later)

  • Give Chamberlain Krystorf the Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl (Mark 1) if the Dain is not spawned. This can only be done ONCE.

  • Receive Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl (Mark 2) - (To prevent respawning of Dain)

Chamberlain Krystorf says 'One moment the Dain has been waiting for you. I will call for him.. oh here he is now, show your shawl to him.'

  • Hand the Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl Shawl to Dain Frostreaver IV.

Dain Frostreaver IV says 'Ah Trewayn. I was hoping to see you. We require your skilled hand. The Armory is overtaxed preparing armor for the war that we are preparing to wage on the Kromzek. We need you to help them by creating some Field Plate for a mission that is near to execution. Go see Loremaster Solstrin in the Hall of Ancestors, give him these orders. He holds the lore recorded on how to make the field plate. Return to me when you have completed a Standard Issue Kit.'

  • Receive Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl (Mark 2)
Receive set of orders for Solstrin.

Hall of Ancestors - Icewell Keep

  • Give the orders to Loremaster Solstrin.

Loremaster Solstrin says 'So, the Dain needs your assistance with the Field Plate. The Dain must trust you a great deal to impart the wisdom of our armor creation to you. Here are the tomes. The first details how to make the basic armor, the other details how to begin [working with gemstones]. If the Dain is asking you for them you should place them in an [Issue Kit].

May Brell guide your hand friend, good luck to you.'

  • Receive Forge of Icewell Arms and Precious Gem Study.

    You say, 'Working with gemstones?'

Loremaster Solstrin says 'Aye, gems are placed within the armor. Brell is pleased with this fusion of ore and gem. The combination produces a sturdy piece of armor. You will need some Etching Tools to work with the gems. If you ask Meg Tucter for a set, she should have some lying about.'

    You say, 'An Issue Kit?'

Loremaster Solstrin says 'The Standard Issue Kit is what we issue to soldiers at the beginning of their mission. I have this empty one here. Place a complete set of Imbued Royal Velium Armor into it before you give it to the Dain.'

  • Receive Issue Kit, an 8-slot container with a combine button. Holds large items and is LORE MAGIC and NO DROP

    Jewelry Shop - Thurgadin

You say, 'I need a set of Etching Tools'

Meg Tucter says 'Oh, really? There are not many around that work in faceting gems. I am surprised to see your interest. You can have this old set of mine. There is no need to return them, Talem recently made me a new sturdy set. Brell bless him.'

  • Receive "Tools". Make the armor, put in issue kit, hit combine.

  • Give Chamberlain Krystorf the Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl (Mark 1) if the Dain is not spawned.

  • Receive Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl (Mark 2) - (To prevent respawning of Dain)

Chamberlain Krystorf says 'One moment the Dain has been waiting for you. I will call for him.. oh here he is now, show your shawl to him.'

  • Hand the Coldain Standard Issue Kit which you created to Dain Frostreaver IV.

Dain Frostreaver IV says 'Excellent work Adorean. If I didn't know I would assume this was made by our most skilled artisans. You must hurry, General Bragmur has formed camp in Iceclad. Take the kit to the General, he had to drudge forward without any armor. His [mission] must be a success if we hope to successfully defend Thurgadin against the Giants.'

  • Receive two items: Approved Issue Kit and Expedition Orders.

    You say, 'What mission?'

Dain Frostreaver IV says 'After General Bragmur has equipped the armor you have created for him, give him these orders. He is a skilled diplomat and will need to reach the pirate Gnomes. We must enter into a pact with them. We will supply them with the velium that they need to build their silly gadgets, and they will take their ship back to Antonica and call for reinforcements from our ancestors. We hope they will accept this pact, after all Brell has been known to align himself with Bristlebane whom the Gnomes of Iceclad follow. You may be an important [factor] in their success'

    You say, 'What factor?'

Dain Frostreaver IV says 'I fear that spies lurk in every corner. You may need to help the General reach the gnomish camp if the Kromrif has gotten word of our efforts. You should call on any allies that you have to assist in case they ambush you. Brell bless you Adorean, good luck.'

    Iceclad Ocean

  • Find General Bragmur at location -3400, +9000.

    You say, 'Hail, General Bragmur'

General Bragmur says 'Please keep yer voice down I am busy here. If you do not mind I would ask that ya kindly leave.'

  • Hand General Bragmur the Approved Issue Kit.

General Bragmur begins to put the armor, 'Finally the Dain has gotten word of my arrival here. I await his final orders before proceeding.'

  • Hand General Bragmur the Expedition Orders.

General Bragmur says 'The final orders, follow me closely! I pray that the Kromrif have not learned of our plans to allign with the gnomes.'

    You will face 5 Encounters.

    First Encounter: -3550 +7550

Commander Vjorik shouts 'The tracking wolves have found the Coldain! To the South West, Charge him!'

Four Kromrif Tracking Wolves spawn and attack. These cannot be snared or rooted. Unsure about stuns or mezzes. The wolves are not difficult.

The Tracking Wolf Coller drops here.

After the fight the General heads to the north again.

Second Encounter: -2200 +7250 (right next to the stone building)

Four Frost Giant Skirmishers spawn and attack. They hit for a max ~178 and are again easily dispatched.

The Spiked Velium Mallet drops here.

After the fight, the General heads northeast.

Third Encounter: -1100 +5950 (by one of the square dragon pillars)

Commander Kvarid and three Frost Giant Skirmishers spawn and attack. (They spawn on the General.) They cannot be stunned, mezzed, rooted or snared. The Frost Giant Skirmishers are level 55 and Commander Kvarid is 57.

Commander Kvarid's corpse shouts 'Arghhhh! Though you have felled me your plans shall not succeed! Rallos will destroy you all for invading our lands!'

The Ice Forged helmet drops here.

After the fight, the General heads northeast.

Fourth Encounter: +1500, +2250 (near Tower of Frozen Shadow)

Five Kromrif Tracking Wolves spawn and attack.

The Drakkel Wolf Claws drop here.

Fifth Encounter: +3700, +2650 (the lone tree on the hill)

Commander Vjorik and five Frost Giant Skirmishers spawn and attack. (They spawn on the General.)

    The Snowchipper drops here.

After the fight, the General heads to the pirate island.

    Iceclad Dock

General Bragmur says 'Lo there gnomes! Tell me is your camp located nearby?'

Ratop says 'Yar ye scruvy bearded dwarf, just over tha hill there.'

    Ritap says 'Arrrrrrrrrrr!'

    Iceclad Pirate Encampment

Captain Nalot says 'Hrm? Who is scuffin' around out here?'

General Bragmur says 'Greetings Captian Nalot, I have come to you with a proposition to make.'

Captain Nalot says 'Arrrrrr what is it ye want?'

General Bragmur says 'Well ya see sir, we have a surplus of Velium that we would not mind sharing with you for yer tinkerin' but would ask a favor in return for it.'

Captain Nalot says 'Velium eh? Well there matey lets hear what you have got to say!'

General Bragmur says 'I represent the Dain in this matter, we would like for you to use yer Icebreaker there to head to Antonica and bring reinforcements for the war that is preparing to ensue. We are needin' all the help we can get against the Kromrif.'

Adisson Stubblechin says 'Don't be thinkin' I was forgettin' ya, Nilham, ya spotty-faced salt licker. Remember, ya tell us where ya put our rum, an' we let ya out. Otherwise, ya have ta stay here!'

Avatar of Below 's voice echoes through the area. 'The efforts to help the Coldain and bring them together with the gnomes of Iceclad is quite impressive. There will be no doubt that they will continue to increase in power until they can overtake the Giants of Zek. Hey there, what is that on your shoulder?'

You say, 'Its a runed coldain prayer shawl'

Avatar of Below says 'So it is the sacred rune of the Coldain. Let me have a closer look at it.'

  • Hand the Avatar of Below the Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl.

Avatar of Below holds the shawl up close to one eye to look at the rune sewn into it. He smiles to himself and then drops it to the ground and places one hand on it. A bright blue glow starts to emanate in the snow, then there is a sudden flash! The Avatar has dissipated. All that is left behind is the Shawl lying in the snow, shimmering with a new power. Pirotess slowly bends down to pick it up, and is infused with a blessing from Brell.

  • Receive Blessed Coldain Prayer Shawl.

General Bragmur says 'I must go tell the Dain of these events immediately!'

Captain Nalot scratches his head, 'Yar ya do that ya crazy Coldain.'

    all items drop every time?
    # Jun 10 2002 at 3:38 AM Rating: Default
    Hello,
just would like to know if all the items (tracking wolf collar, drakkel wolf claws, snowchipper and so on) drop everytime the quest is done? That would be just marvelous.

I found out while wiping out WW mobs to get hounds to spawn that the unrefined gems also drop from the Wyvern Hunters there as well. Sorta a simple 1 stop shopping place. The Gorge to DN is a good place to sit as there is 2 spawn points easily watched.

    Little trick
    # May 15 2002 at 11:41 PM Rating: Excellent
Sharing a little trick one of my guildmate found.

If u arent KOS to Geo in WL .. here is a nice trick u can use to hunt shimmering geo without drop ur faction...

I was hunting in the first Geo cavern when u come from Gate ring in WL ... here is 8 GOO that spawn before the GEO room ..

Pull GOO on the GEO ... never more than 3 goo in same time ..the best is 2 GOO for one GEO ... or 3 GOO for 2 GEO ... when GOO die they split into baby GOO .. dont agro them because they dont fight GEO except if they are the only mob that fight .. so if they arent fighting they can agro you ... you can easily kill the 3 first GEO in the room and the 2 GEO that are alone in tunnel right after the room ... if u do it well u can camp 5 GEO in same time .. alone .. without losing faction .. or mana ..
6 GEO are int he room .. u kill the 3 first and the 3 other are very hard to kill with goo because they are assiting all together .. so excep if u brake them by killing one urself and splitign spawn .. keep them alive .. they are usefull if u agro baby by error .. u can train baby on them to save ur butt...

when Shimmering spawn .. u kill them without GOO .. i was apprehensivly when i began to hunt and i am still apprehensivly after got all my gems...

After few try with GOO .. u will catch it fast ...
Goo are hiting hard .. so if u arent a healing class .. be carefull ...

    Two things ..

FIRST if u pull 2 or 3 GOO one one GEO .. be carefull if u sit to med .. they still Hate you and the one or the 2 GOO that dont geting hit from GEO can come back on you and stop fight GEO .. and that can scrap you tactic because other GEO can agro them and kill them. The best is always trying to dont agro many GEO on GOO .. so u make the job properly :)

SECOND u can agro GOO by the wall in room ... be carefull with that .. but that can also be usefull with the positionning of mobs.. just use it with wisdom.

Best place to sit and med is on the rock in middle of room .. stay away of fight to dont agro baby.

(english is not my first language so dont look grammar :) )

lol, that profile is simply his dream setup. There isn't a guild in existance that would waste _5_ vulak loots on a 55, lol. But it's cute you're trying to convince people of that.

The primal fist wraps are believable because most ST keys in uber guilds goto twinks and new members now.

Uhm i dont know a single 55 with a ST key. I dont think any guilds on torv (yeah i know its a newer server so i could just be uninformed about some of the old servers who have been killing tunare for kicks) lets anyone under 58 loot ST key quest items.

    I could be wrong,

Looted one in WW one night with my guild at level 52 after I won the roll. But i use it for the stats rathere than getting the key.
    AH that explains it

Never mind then re my message about not having FT2 on it. Addition of buff increase PLUS FT2 makes this VERY much worth pursuing!

Time to get to raising skills again. I'm still working on 5th, but raising tailoring is a sod.

A few things about this quest.

The Ore was fairly easy to obtain in CC and took about 3 hours to get 14 blocks and 8 large bricks (although I had to combine some small bricks to complete it). My Smithing was 175 and I had zero failures on this part. NOTE: The folded sheets and rings are tradeable, however the final combine to make the armour is not).

Velium Hound Fur was easy for me as I started this portion of the quest just after the patch and before many were farming it. Unfortunately, it is now the most frustrating part of the quest as three days later there isn't a single wolf in Western Wastes. All their Ph's are up and no one wants to have to kill a wurm or such to have them respawn. I brought along some silver thread and a sewing kit and combined as I got the furs which dropped about 1 in every four wolves. My tailoring was 168 and I had two failures in getting the 8 paddings needed. (trivial 176). (NOTE: Velium Hound Fur is tradeable, however the combined Velium Hound Padding is not).

Finally the faceted gems. These are from the Geonid caves in Wakening Lands. The Geonids are the place holders for the Shimmering Geonid. My party were clearing about 7 of these before the first one would pop again. Spawn rate was about 2 per hour, and the Shimmering always dropped one of the gems you needed. My Jewel Crafting was 181 and I failed 2 times in making the faceted gem, but did not fail any times when combining with the armour. The only down side of this was that I needed one more Emerald and we had to kill three extra Shimmering Geonids to get that particular gem. (NOTE: All the gems are NO DROP as are the combines).

The final part of the quest, "the battle of Iceclad" was interesting to say the least since my guild had a few KoS people to the dwarf. We got it rectified by invising them during the time we traveled, and when battle erupted, one of the monks would engage the General and kite him around while we laid waste to the MoB's. When they were dead everyone would invis up and he would Feign Death and we were on our way again.

    Final stats...

AC 8, Sta 8, Wis 8, Int 8, Cha 8, HP 50, Mana 50, All Resists 8. Effect Zephyr of Brell.

Zephry of Brell is FT 2 and a 15% bonus on all beneficial buffs.

    # May 13 2002 at 3:28 AM Rating: Default
When they started talking about this, I think we were all hoping for an upgrade to the effect, like maybe FT2.

    Buff duration increase? Ok...

Stats are nice, but I'm not sure I would trade this for soloing as a druid. I need every tick of mana regen I can get to reduce downtime.
    Yes, you are...
    # May 13 2002 at 3:42 AM Rating: Default
...because the effect also has a mana regen of 2. Prolly missed it cause it was tacked on the same line as restrictions in the post below. The nice thing is that this stacks with FT, but as an independant type of buff. So, if you are lucky enough to have FT 15 already, you can actually get up to an effective FT 17 with this. So for a druid (or any priest), buff duration increase + 2 mana regen per tick, this would be awesome. Keep working towards it man (woman?) =). Have fun.

One of the easiest ways to raise dain faction is to do the axe sharpening portion of the Phenocryst's Focus over and over again. All you need is a stack or two of pieces of velium, you just keep heading between the mines and the weapons shop across from the bank to do the quest. Since getting into the mines is alot easier than getting out, I just bound by the weapons shop, the mine critters are extremely aggressive and attack even level 57's. It's labled Velium Focus in the quest list for Thurgadin.
