You say 'Hail Sten Harnak'
Sten Harnak says 'Greetings to you Isola. I am Sten Harnak Virtuoso of Freeport. I have lived in Freeport and studied the art of songweaving here for all of my days. I am always eager to see new faces here in our concert hall. If you are here for a performance I am afraid it does not start till a bit later but if you are a young bard in training then I might have some [work] for you.' You say, 'What work' Sten Harnak says 'Well I have numerous concerts here that I must prepare for so I always must be sure that I have the best possible support as far as my fellow bards go. I am always seeking new young talent to sing in our concerts. If you are a bard I have made tasks for you to complete to see if you are a worthy songweaver. These tasks will test your determination and battle skills. I would only allow one that has completed all of my [specific tests] to sing in my concert hall.' You say, 'What specific tests?' Sten Harnak says 'If you are ready to begin your training I will assign you a number of tests. These tests will enable you to outfit yourself with a suit of armor only worn by the most respected musicians of Freeport. First, I will present you with a Songweavers Assembly Kit. In this kit you will combine certain [recipes] that will be magically formed into an armor material. Each one of these materials will need to be combined in a forge with the appropriate mold to make your armor piece.' You say, 'What recipes' Sten Harnak says 'I have the material recipes available for Songweavers Platemail [Helms], [Bracers], [Armguards], [Boots], [Greaves], [Gauntlets] and [Breastplates]. When you are ready to craft a specific piece simply tell me what armor piece you [want] to craft. For example if you would wish to craft a helm tell me �I want to craft a helm�. Also please keep in mind that the components necessary for crafting your breastplate material are the most difficult to collect so you might want to collect them last.' You say, 'I want to craft a breastplate' Sten Harnak says 'The right breastplate will defend you from most lifethreating attacks that you may endure while in training. With that said I am very happy to see that you are already set to collect your breastplate material componenets. To create your breastplate material you will need to combine 5 Bricks of Crude Iron Ore, 1 Coyote Skull, 1 Darkweed Snake Bile, 1 Enlarged Fire Beetle Leg, 1 Vial of Smoke and 1 Young Plains Cat Backbone in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Songweavers Platemail Breastplate. Very common drop from Large Briar and Large Thistle Snakes in Tox near Paneel POK portal. Easy kills for Level 8 Bard.

I finally got the whole set today took me 2-3 hours. (Thank you claws of knight) Aneyway only the a young plains cat backbone, vile of smoke, and snake bile is no drop (A young plains cat, willowhisp, and giant rattelnake for me) and tho some people said it is no drop the cyoet skull and enlarged fire beetle leg can be gotten at a vender. Get this im a level 4 and i have all of it but the armor hehe. Then again i did have help from a 20 Bard (Longsong).

Ignore "Darkweed" and just kill rattlesnakes, which will drop "Snake Bile."
I used (rattlesnake dropped) "Snake Bile" and it worked fine to make the armor piece.

I cant seem to get the "Enlarged Fire Beetle Leg" but I have everything else. Guess I got lucky, scored the Snake Bile and Vial of Smoke pretty quickly...

The Darkweed snake Bile really just "Snake Bile" commonly dropped by Giant Rattlesnakes in the sandy part of EC, this was confirmed just minutes ago when I completed the quest. Just FYI
I checked data in NFP again, the quest seems to be changed. You don't need to find DARKWEED SNAKE BILE, you need SNAKE BILE now. I know that after I destroied 3 or 4 snake bile, and got another 10 snake bile. Whew, any way I am happy that I saved some bile before I check the message. By the way, Snake Bile drop by Giant Rattlesnake, mostly at south desert area.

i know you said that smoke viles drop off air elemantals but what are they?
Smoke Vials don't drop off Air Elementals, they are a semi-rare drop off Willowisps. Willowisps are level 9 and above, generally, and can be found scattered all over East Commons. I can confirm the drop as being true.
Air Elementals don't drop Smoke Vials as far as I know, although I haven't tried to fight any. They wander the sandy dunes of EC, and you'd most commonly see them being controlled by a magician as a pet, rather than around as a monster. As to what they are-- they're just elementals made of air... really. Man-shaped things with a floaty quality.

OK easy quest except the Darkweed snake bile. SNAKE BILE does not combine. I have killed over 100 each, darkweed snakes,giant rattlers, large rattlers,rallle snakes still no Darkweed snake bile. Thought tis quest was bugged then i saw someone with the brestplate and asked he said it dropped of any snake in the area.
An Interesting note and something that will make this easier for us Freeport Bard's. The lowly Rattlesnakes in North Ro also drop the Darkweed Snake Bile. Much easier to obtain and you don't have to worry about the viscous poison from the Darkweeds as much.

Just letting evryone know that no part of these armor quests are bugged. Just finished every piece of this armor in 4 hours easily.(including the bracer twice) You just need to check all the vendors in EC for the various items except the no drop ones.

the crude iron ore can be found on any orc in EC but i bought almost all of mine from vendors as I did alot of the other pieces as well, very easy and quick.

Ok i'm a halfelf bard, lvl 10 right now. got all the stuff, but Songweavers Assembly Kit. For some reason he doesn't say anything to me when i hail him. is it cuz i'm under bristillbane? or faction? or some thing else?

NPC seems to be bugged at the moment, so he does not say anything. He will give you molds for the armor if you give him the proper text ("I want to craft a [armor piece]"), so if you just follow the text mentioned on this website, he will probably give you what you want.
Be sure to write everything down from here though, because he will not remind you what you need when you ask him.

When i ask the guy for molds he always tells me what is needed so you dont really need to write it down.

This is just a quick comparison of Songweaver's Plate and Lambent armor total stat modifiers (excluding AC):
Songweave. Lambent
HP 5 25
Cha 14 8
Agi 14 5
Sta 4 5
Str 2 8
Dex 2 5
The AC on Lambent is much higher than on Songweaver's but I found it interesting to see such newb armor having certain stats higher than Lambent... Especially almost twice as much Cha. Just something to think about.

Skulls also drop in plenty off of Gorge Hounds in East Karana.

The enlarged Beetle legs can be found on the Giant or Large firebeetles I found......I believe once more in East Commons.

You can also get them off of Enlarged Fire Beetles in East Commons. That's where I got mine. Nice peice of newbie armor, espiciallly if you are playing of the FV server.

I picked up some off the black wolves in East Commons. Not no drop and you can also get the black wolf skins there as well.

...quests are for humans and half elves.
im going to start a halfie just to see what this stuff looks like.
hopefully verant will make some quests as nice as these for wood elf bards as well.

I'm upto level 11 and the only thing I'm lacking is the enlarged leg, hope it's on the giant fire beetles like was suggested, though I've killed at least 20 and looted another 30 or so that were left to rot...
as for the bile, it is on the rattlesnakes, someone killed about 15 of them near the tunnel and was nice enough to shout the location of the bile... almost thought it would decompose before I found the right one.
the smoke can be found on willowisps, only had to kill 2 to get mine (remember to get your sword befor trying on any wisps)

Coyote skull also drops off of black wolves in EC.

I killed tons of them in EC, and came up dry. 5 minutes on the grass in N. Ro killing coyotes, and I was set.

What are the stats on this BP? I'm a wood elf, so I can't use, but curious as to what I'm getting stiffed out of. (bad grammar...)
You are not getting stiffed out of anything. Coyote skulls are now dropping off of wolves in GF, so I bet that in the next patch all the wood elf rangers and bards and warriors and druids will start to get cool newbie quests, too.

What do the friggin lenlarged legs drop off? regular, large or giant fire beetles? I've killed hundreds of regulars anywhere between 30-50 larges and about 10 giants and have yet to see one of these damn legs drop
