You say 'Hail Sten Harnak'
Sten Harnak says 'Greetings to you Isola. I am Sten Harnak Virtuoso of Freeport. I have lived in Freeport and studied the art of songweaving here for all of my days. I am always eager to see new faces here in our concert hall. If you are here for a performance I am afraid it does not start till a bit later but if you are a young bard in training then I might have some [work] for you.' You say, 'What work' Sten Harnak says 'Well I have numerous concerts here that I must prepare for so I always must be sure that I have the best possible support as far as my fellow bards go. I am always seeking new young talent to sing in our concerts. If you are a bard I have made tasks for you to complete to see if you are a worthy songweaver. These tasks will test your determination and battle skills. I would only allow one that has completed all of my [specific tests] to sing in my concert hall.' You say, 'What specific tests?' Sten Harnak says 'If you are ready to begin your training I will assign you a number of tests. These tests will enable you to outfit yourself with a suit of armor only worn by the most respected musicians of Freeport. First, I will present you with a Songweavers Assembly Kit. In this kit you will combine certain [recipes] that will be magically formed into an armor material. Each one of these materials will need to be combined in a forge with the appropriate mold to make your armor piece.' You say, 'What recipes' Sten Harnak says 'I have the material recipes available for Songweavers Platemail [Helms], [Bracers], [Armguards], [Boots], [Greaves], [Gauntlets] and [Breastplates]. When you are ready to craft a specific piece simply tell me what armor piece you [want] to craft. For example if you would wish to craft a helm tell me �I want to craft a helm�. Also please keep in mind that the components necessary for crafting your breastplate material are the most difficult to collect so you might want to collect them last.' You say, 'I want to craft a helm' Sten Harnak says 'A very important armor piece indeed Isola, one well placed attack to the head by an adversary could leave you in very poor condition. To create your helm material you will need to combine 2 Bricks of Crude Iron Ore, 1 Ruined Wolf Pelt, 1 Deathfist Pawn Scalp and 1 Barley in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Songweavers Platemail Helm.' | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Questing for this armor is great! Bravo VI! It is sort of like a scavenger hunt. I am enjoying myself quite a bit. Just Down to the hard stuff. But with the advice from you all, I have discovered I was looking in the wrong places, and I can't wait to get onto EQ tonight. I was looking for a vial of shadow on shadow wolves... DOH! This armor is alot easier than the Qeynos newbie armor. Same stuff for almost everything and most of it is rare. Giant and Large field rat whiskers continue to elude me....

Is this quest broken? Sten won't give me the kit. I got the mold but the trigger for the kit just triggers the bead quest.

In my lowly opinion, this quest armor is well worth the work collecting these items. To help out, I'll list what drops some of the harder items to find. The Vial of Smoke, to me, was the most difficult to get. After asking around and being led in all directions for this item, the true source took me back to EC. Willowisps in EC are what drops these items. It took me about 6 hrs of killing wisps to finally see something other than just shiny white globes. I'll cut this short and just list drops/mobs as follows:
darkweed snake bile- giant rattlers in EC go figure.
grizzly bear skin-not sure if Thick Grizzly Bear Skin would work.
Barley, Bottle, Mead and Cat's Eye Agate are all sold in stores.
When trying for the arms, make sure you have a preserved snake eye before grabbing the burned out lightstone since the lightstone is no rent.
For earlier level attempts, stick with killing orc pawns for the ore and run to the bank after collecting 2 or 3 bricks of ore, they will weight you down quickly and will diminish your chance of quick escape if you get in trouble during a fight. FYI, you can't move your character if you have an agility of 1. But it was fun when I found this out in town, not in front of 2 lions and 3 kodiaks. Hope this helps someone.

And I love how the lag in EC appeared since they added all the new creatures. Had to reduce the clipping plane to half, remove the 3-D sky and axe all but the /shout channel.

Most likely, its on the Orcs in EC.. The ore for Mistythickets is on goblins and orcs..would bet the same here.. .

anyone know how one obtains -bricks of crude iron ore-? its not the ore i can find from shops, is it dropped off a mob or where can it be bought?

They sell the ore at, either, Inn 2 or 3, or both.

If they are selling the ore there it is because players not using the ore they looted have sold it to those merchants. It is not something any merchant keeps in stock.
