This is a newbie armor quest that begins with Arinna Trueblade in West Freeport. She's located at 570, -600, -86 (not far from the bank and findable using CTRL+F).
You say, 'Hail, Arinna Trueblade' Arinna Trueblade says 'Well met _____. I am Arianna Trueblade, Warlord of the Steel Warriors. I am personally in charge of all the training that our young warriors receive. I take pride in knowing that my teaching can help make the foundation of a Freeport Champion. If you are a [warrior] then we might just have something to talk about.' You say, 'I'm a warrior' Arinna Trueblade says 'So you think you have what it takes to become one of Freeport's finest? I will warn you now that we expect every single warrior that is brought into our ranks to go through a series of [exercises]. Rest assured you will be rewarded for your hard work with a set of armor that I will walk you though the process of making. Are you [ready to begin your testing]?' You say, 'I am ready to begin my testing' Arinna Trueblade says 'Very well _____, Here is your Steel Warriors Mail Kit. This kit will be your main tool in creating your own armor. You will gather various items from all areas of Freeport from monsters and stores alike. You will use specific item combinations in this kit to fashion together armor materials that you will combine in a forge with the appropriate mold to make an armor piece. Once you are ready to attempt a piece of armor simply tell me what piece you [want] to craft. I will then present you with the recipe and mold for Steel Warrior [Helms], [Bracers], [Armguards], [Boots], [Greaves], [Gauntlets] and [Breastplates].' You receive a Steel Warriors Mail Kit and a Mold. You say, 'I want to craft a breastplate' Arinna Trueblade says 'Your dedication to learning everything about your class is impressive Isola. I have no doubt that you are ready to collect the pieces for your Steel Warriors Breastplate. To create your helm material you will need to combine 5 Bricks of Crude Iron Ore, 1 Deathfist Orc Skull, 1 Woven Spider Silk, 1 Armadillo Carapace, 1 Matted Lion Pelt and 1 Rusty Short Sword in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Steel Warriors Breastplate. Please come back to see me after you are finished with your breastplate for your [final task].' In the kit, combine the above-mentioned items to create a Material. Ok latest stuff. Ore is in abundance as a drop item from orcs in the East Commonlands. Centurions and Pawns both dropped it 60% of the time or more. Keep in mind this item will get heavy on you fast 3-5 bricks and you will be encumbered. The armadillo carapace was the toughest part. I have only seen 2 spawn. One was killed by the *^&(*^&*^(*& guards who did not attack anything allnight, and the other only appeared after asking a GM to spawn one. Don't know if he actually spawned it or it finally showed up. If it was not created by a GM you better have the patience of Job, because only a carapace from a slain armadillo will do. I have found store boughts but they did not work.

I cant find the crude iron ore for this quest; Where can I find it/buy it.

Crude Iron Ore drops from the goblins in Misty Thicket. This is the newbie zone outside of Rivervale, which is the starting city for Halflings. To get there from East Commons head west through West Commons to the NW corner of the zone. That will be the zone to Kithicor Forest. Do not travel the forest between 6pm and 8am due to very nasty undead that spawn there at night. Once in Kith turn and follow the right wall until you come to what appears to be a cave entrance. That is the zone to Rivervale. Find the Priest of Discord and go straight across from him to the zone for Misty Thicket. Follow the path in Misty until you come to a wall and on the other side you will find 2 or 3 goblin camps as well as alot of wandering ones. Any goblin on the far side of the wall can drop the ore. Be aware that the ore weigh 15.0 each so you will become overburdened rather quickly. Enjoy the hunt!

True, but it also drops off of orcs in the commons now too. Check the inns near the orc camps in EC.

I did this quest last night. All pieces for the BP can be bought except for the Armadillo Carapace, which is No Drop. But, it drops off an armadillo in North Ro, and was blue to a level 4. The result is a Steel Warrior's Breastplate:
12 AC +2 Str +4 Sta +1 Dex +5 HP
Human/Half-elf Warrior only
Wish it had a little more AC, but hey, it's pretty much free, or very cheap even if you buy 9 of the 10 pieces at a merchant.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, you need no Blacksmithing skill on this, as mine was 0. It went up to 1 after making this BP. I doubt you could fail on it, but if you do, it's probably not hard to get the items again.

My SK was wasting time in EC killing spiders and one of the woven spider silk droped off a Large spider. i thought it was for new tailoring( oh well

Does anyone know what the stats on these are and wether or not u can fail when trying to make them?

where do you get the Woven Spider Silk for this? Or do you have to create the Silk? if so,whats the recpie for it
you can get them of of large and giant spiders in EC. They look like a cloth cord instead of the usual spiderling silk or silk threads
In all these quests, u need ore, but must you buy it?

I have all the items as requested except the skull. I got an 'Orc skull' from a deathfist legionnaire in nektulos but it won't combine with the other items. Has anyone seen a 'deathfist orc skull' dropping anywhere?
Edit: I found one on merchant in WC and got my BP but after killing about a hundred orcs in both EC and WC I didnt see a single skull, maybe they are just really rare :/

On the Innoruuk server these skulls seem to be for sale at the middle inn, in ec.
