Introductions

Maesyn Trueshot may be found in the ranger guild in Kelethin at -451.03, 520.32, 116.28.

You say, 'Hail Maesyn Trueshot'

Maesyn Trueshot says 'Welcome to Kelethin, ______! I am Maesyn Trueshot, commander of Faydark's Champions. We are the finest marksmen in all of Norrath. With our trusty [Trueshot longbows] we can miss no target regardless of the distance or the conditions.'

You say, 'What Trueshot longbows?'

Maesyn Trueshot says 'The Trueshot Longbow was created by my famed father, Eldin Trueshot. It is quite accurate and takes a ranger's skill to wield. We use our new recruits to [gather materials] needed by my father. We shall soon begin to release the formula to good elves so all may fletch such a bow.'

You say, 'I will gather materials.'

Maesyn Trueshot says 'Take this pack. Go to Kaladim, find Trantor Everhot and ask for dwarven wire. Then go to Freeport to meet Jyle Windshot. Search the inns for him and ask him for treant wood. Then, collect some spiderling silk from spiderlings and finally, in Steamfont, we have the permission of the gnomes to use any micro servos we find while destroying rogue spiders. Combine them all and return the pack to me.'

You receive a Material Pack, a 4-slot MEDIUM container.

Dwarven Wire

Trantor Everhot may be found wandering around North Kaladim.

You say, 'Hail, Trantor Everhot'

Trantor Everhot says 'Yes, yes!! I am a very busy man. I've got blueprints to work on, [dwarven wire] to perfect and formulae to calculate. In between those tasks, I have to find time to head down to Irontoe's and down a few Tumpy Tonics.'

You say, 'What dwarven wire?'

Trantor Everhot says 'Oh!! Interested in my dwarven wire, are you? Many are. I have no problem letting you use a spool, but I have to warn you that I have not perfected the strength of it yet. I will make you a trade. A couple of [Tumpy Tonics] for a spool.'

You say, 'What Tumpy Tonics?'

Trantor Everhot says 'Aaah!! I love Tumpy Tonics. They were created by Tumpy Irontoe. He was once a member of the famed Irontoe Brigade. Since they disbanded and left for parts unknown he decided to stay in Kaladim and open Irontoe's, the finest well in Faydwer.'

You can get Tumpy Tonics from Tumpy Irontoe or brew them yourself (1 Kiola Nut + 1 Water Flask in a brew barrel, trivial 135). You'll need four of them for the quest, so make sure you get enough. Give two to Trantor Everhot unstacked.

Trantor Everhot says 'Hey!! Only one?!!'

Trantor Everhot says 'Great!! I did not have the time to get down to Irontoe's today. Here. Like I said. A spool of dwarven wire. Now go away. I ain't sharing these tonics.'

You receive Dwarven Wire. Give him another two Tumpy Tonics unstacked for the second piece of Dwarven Wire.

Treant Wood

Jyle Windshot may be found in West Freeport (a different version of him may be found in East Freeport, but that's for a different quest). Make sure he cons amiably or above.

You say, 'Hail, Jyle Windshot'

Jyle Windshot says 'Hello. Might I ask what you are looking for?'

You say, 'I am looking for treant wood.'

Jyle Windshot says 'You are a new courier from the Faydarks. I am sorry I did not stay closer to the docks. I hear that part of Freeport is dangerous and is filled with many rogues. I shall require a new Small Lantern in trade for the Treant Wood.'

You can buy a Small Lantern at many vendors, including Innkeep Palola in North Freeport and Innkeep Harold in East COmmonlands. Give Jyle the lantern.

Jyle Windshot says 'Thanks, friend. I have run a long way to get here in time. Mostly at night. I lost my lantern in a card game in Highkeep.'

Your faction standing with Faydarks Champions has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with King Tearis Thex has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Clerics of Tunare has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Soldiers of Tunare has been adjusted by 1.

You will probably receive Wooden Shards, which identifies as "Treant Wood Shards." Occasionally you instead receive A Wooden Heart, which identifies as "A Treant Heart." This is used in the subsequent Rain Caller quest.

Other Ingredients

Spiderling silk drops from spiders around the world. Rogue clockworks in Steamfont drop Micro Servos. You'll need at least two Micro Servos, so make sure to collect spares.

The Finale

In the Material Pack, combine 1 Dwarven Wire, 1 Wooden Shards, 1 Spiderling Silk, and 1 Micro Servo to craft a Pack of Materials. Give this to Maesyn Trueshot.

Maesyn Trueshot says 'I shall see that my father gets the materials. I hope this can be of use to you. It will serve as your starting point toward fletching a Trueshot longbow. It is unfortunate that we are unable to enchant the bow to its [next incarnation], but it is still a fine weapon. You do know the [correct components] needed for fletching such a bow, do you not?'

Your faction standing with Faydark's Champions has been adjusted by 25.
Your faction standing with King Tearis Thex has been adjusted by 6.
Your faction standing with Clerics of Tunare has been adjusted by 6.
Your faction standing with Soldiers of Tunare has been adjusted by 6.
Your faction standing with Crushbone Orcs has been adjusted by -6.
You gain experience!!
You receive 6 gold from Maesyn Trueshot.
You receive 1 platinum from Maesyn Trueshot.

You say, 'What correct components?'

Maesyn Trueshot says 'Now that I have crafted the Treant Bow Staff, you shall need one Planing Tool, one Treant Bow Staff, one Micro Servo and one spool of Dwarven Wire. These items will be used with your Fletching Kit as all other bows. Be forewarned, only a Master Fletcher can create such a bow and even a master fails from time to time. Good Luck.'

You receive a Treant Bowstave. Combine this in a fletching kit with a Micro Servo, a piece of Dwarven Wire, and a Planing Tool to craft a Trueshot Longbow (trivial 235).

Trueshot Longbow Quest
# Nov 19 2001 at 3:27 PM Rating: Excellent
I began this quest over a week ago and I am happy to report I am the proud owner of the Trueshot Longbow.

However, before starting my quest, I put in a lot of time and did the research. Sadly, the information I gathered was sparse, and did not prepare me for all the ‘gotchas’ I ran across. So, I am writing as complete a report as possible to help other Rangers on this quest

*Components you will need to collect and how many you need for 10 attempts. An explanation of why will follow:
Micro Servo – I had 20 of these
Spiderling Silk – I had 10 of these
Dwarven Wire – I had 20 of these
Ø Kiola Nuts – I had 40 of these
Ø Water Flasks – I had 40 of these
Treant Wood – I had 10 of these

*Here is what I did and my observations:
1) Go to www.eqatlas.com and get maps for Greater Faydark, Lesser Faydark, Butcherblock Mountains, East Freeport, West Freeport, Ocean of Tears, Steamfont Mountains, and Ak’Anon. You will need these to help get around. Become very intimate with Steamfont and Ak’Anon
2) This quest is good for LVL 8 and up. I was LVL 17 when I did it, so most of the creatures were green to light blue to me. I think at LVL 8 you should get some great experience but may get hurt a lot. For me everything was easy to kill and very little experience
3) Go with the intention to have enough stuff to make at least 10 attempts at making this bow. This is personal preference. If you are luckier than me…just get enough for one attempt. I was a 104 Fletcher, WIS 89, INT 75, DEX 112. It took me 8 attempts to make the bow.
4) I have heard stories of people trying this with less skill and being successful on their first attempt. I adhere to the following analogy about this…THEY ARE INCREDIBLY LUCKY OR INCREDIBLE LIERS!!!
5) LOOT EVERYTING OFF OF THE CLOCKWORKS. If you don’t want the non-Micro Servo stuff…destroy it. If you don’t loot everything, it takes longer for more clockworks to spawn.
6) Fill all available general slots with backpacks. You are going to need them throughout the quest, especially when you go for the Kiola Nuts.
7) This assumes you already have a fletching kit and a plane for bow making. If you don’t have these items, any of the fletching supply places in Kelethin will have them
8) This assumes you haven’t messed up your faction with your guild. If you have, you will need to go kill orcs and turn in belts and pads to get your faction back.

*Micro Servos
1) Get yourself bound in Ak’Anon. The potential of dying (even for me at 17) is very good. There is a nasty called a Kobold Missionary that was red to me and seemed to agro from across the zone to kill me. You don’t want to have to spend your time running on long corpse retrievals.
2) Once you are ready to hunt rogue and runaway clockworks, and are in Steamfont, do a shout to the zone that you are there to kill clockworks. When I was there, there was one other Ranger there. He was almost done with his collection of Micro Servos so I helped him kill them until he was done. Micro Servos are a no drop item, so he couldn’t share. This is a courtesy to the other Rangers in the zone if you plan on soloing. Either team up with them, or let them know your intentions. My choice was to solo.
3) Bring up your track and start killing clockworks. My experience was that about 1 in 10 kills netted me a micro servo. I have found the best place to hunt is behind the three windmills. However, clockworks spawn all over the zone. You will get the following from looting clockworks
a. Gizmo #4, Gizmo #5, Gizmo #6 – all looted from the clockworks…not worth much but a copper here, gold there helps
b. Scrap metal, Black box fragments – could find no use for these, so I destroyed. There are quests for these if you want to save, but they weigh a bunch
c. Rusty Black boxes – these can be turned in for experience and cash in Ak’Anon. Take them to Manik Compolten. I found him inside Ak’Anon, to the right, just inside the first set of tunnels. Use you tracking to find him…that is how I did it. Turn them into him, 2 at a time for experience and silver.
4) Keep doing this until you have the number of Micro Servos you want.
5) Micro Servos stack

*Spiderling Silk
1) Spiderlings were a good side distraction while I was waiting for clockworks to pop. I killed a BUNCH. However, if you have the cash, you can buy spiderling silk just about anywhere…you just have to find the vendor selling it.
2) Spiderling silk stacks

*Treant Wood Chips
1) Somehow get to West Freeport. I took the boat from Butcherblock Mountains to East Freeport. It is about a 20 minute trip (real time). Once there head to West Freeport. The boat makes one stop along the way. Do not get off unless you really want to.
2) Find some small lanterns. The one place I know you can get them is in North Freeport at the goods merchant right next to the bank. I’m sure there are plenty of other places to get them, but this is the one place I am positive they are at. They run about 1 gold each. I would suggest you have about 15 of these.
3) Track Jyle Windshots. I found him in the Hogcaller’s Inn on the second floor. I don’t know if he travels around, but this is where I’ve found him several times. Give him 1 lantern at a time. You will get experience and treant wood chips. On occasion you will get a treant heart. If you get one, you will get only one, because it is a lore item. I already had one from a guild raid earlier, so I don’t know what the rate of return is.
4) Treant Wood Chips stack

*Dwarven Wire (Kiola Nuts and Water)
1) This was the most tedious part of the quest to me. Since I had just gone to Freeport, I just rode the boat back to Butcherblock and hopped off at the Isle of the Sisters of Erollisi. This is the first stop the boat makes.
2) Get off the boat and go directly to the Inn and purchase Kiola Nuts. You will need at least four times as many of these as you plan attempts on the bow. So, if you are going to make 10 attempts at the bow…you need 40 of the Kiola Nuts. They are about a gold piece each.
3) Kiola Nuts do not stack, so have plenty of room available
4) If you do this quick enough, you can get back on the boat and head to Butcherblock Mountains. If you don’t, you will have to wait on the boat to return. If you are low level, you are in for a treat. Almost everything on this island will be red or yellow to you, and everything on the island hates you! There is one particular nasty (don’t remember it’s name) that hangs out around the docks and will agro you. I was able to take it with little fan fare at 17. However, at the lower levels you may be in trouble. My opinion would be ensure you get into the Inn quickly. I have not heard of anyone getting agrod at the Inn. Get your Kiola Nuts quick. Then, if you think you are going to get killed, go to the end of the dock and stay (don’t go under, around or anywhere else…stay at the end). If you do die, you are close to where the boat docks and can pull your corpse onto the boat and loot in safety.
5) Once you make it back to Butcherblock, head for Kaladim.
6) Go to Irontoe’s Eats in South Kaladim. There, give Tumpy Irontoe 1 flask of water and 1 Kiola Nut (you can give him 2 water flasks and two nuts. I found that some times he will rob you, so I recommend only 1 flask and 1 Kiola Nut at a time). In return you will get a shot glass of Tumpy Tonic. If you are following the numbers, you will use 40 Kiola Nuts and 40 water flasks. This will net you 40 Tumpy Tonics.
7) These stack so don’t be worried about space.
8) Head to North Kaladim and find Tratnor Everhot (there are several Everhots so make sure you have the right one). He is usually either on the bridge or in the lower level of the Everhot Forge.
9) Give him 2 Tumpy Tonics at a time (you can give him one at a time, but I didn’t get anything until I gave him the second one). In return he will give you a spool of Dwarven wire.
10) These stack, and you should get 20 of them when done.

*Combining the materials
1) With the Dwarven Wire, Micro Servos, Treant wood chips, Spiderling silk in hand, head back to Kelethin and the Rangers Guild.
2) Hail Maesyn Trueshot
3) He will tell you about the Trueshot Longbow
4) Answer him back with “What Trueshot Longbow”
5) He will tell you about gathering materials
6) Answer him back with “I will gather materials”
7) He will give you a 4 slot bag
8) Put 1 of each
a. Spiderling Silk
b. Micro Servo
c. Dwarven Wire
d. Treant Wood Chip
9) This will result in a Teant Bow staff, 10 Gold, and experience.
10) Put 1 of each of the following into your fletching kit
a. Treant Bow staff (you got from step 8)
b. Micro Servo
c. Dwarven Wire
d. Bow plane
11) Hit combine and with any luck, you’ll have a Trueshot Longbow.
12) If you fail, you get the plane back and need to repeat steps 2 through 11
13) If you succeed YOU ROCK

I hope this helps

Yes, your problem is indeed faction. If you are high enough level to kill the legionnaires and slaver's too, remember to save the belts, pads and keys. Use the keys to free the slaves (there is a code of come sort to the key numbers: see below). Turn the belts and pads into Canoel Nusback in Kaladim (Dwarven city in Butcher Block). All these will increase your faction with the Feydark Champions and some will raise it with certain merchants in G-Fay too. Along with the faction for the belts, you'll get EXP, money, and tattered armor or low-grade weapons you sell for more money.

Key code:
Key # 15 goes to Relton Brenclog
Key # 16 goes to a Male Dwarf Slave
Key # 17 goes to a Female Dwarf Slave
Key # 18 goes to a Male Wood Elf Slave
Key # 19 goes to a Female Wood Elf Slave
Key # 20 goes to a Male High Elf Slave
Key # 21 goes to a Female High Elf Slave

I am a proud owner of a personally fletched TS bow, and have been so since lvl 17. I followed a method i read somewhere else (i forget it was so long ago) and sure enough I produced not one but two TS bows.
1. Get a good stack or two of Treant wood, the easiest way to get this is from Jyle windshot. Buy lanterns and turn them in to him for some treat wood, (you may want to hold on to the treant heart he gives you as its for the upgrade to TS)
2. Get your inventory full of bags and make a run to the island with your pockets full of cash. Buy kiola nuts, and head out towards BB. Make sure to have a few slots open though as you need to buy a few stacks of water from the merchant at the BB dock.
3. Head to kaladim and turn those nuts and water into tumpy tonics and hand them in to tratnor everhot to get some dwarven wire.
4. This is the longest part, aside from having to do it again if you fail multiple times. Run around steamfront killing all clockworks you see so you can get micro servos.
5. Kill, pay, buy from NPC's a ton of spiderling silk.
6. Now get your fletchign kit (empty) and go camp out near Trueshot with your fingers crossed.

Using this method you are able to save yourself a lot of time as you cut down on your running around. You can get 10 to 20 attempts easily if you prepared correctly.
1 Spiderling Silk, 2 Microservo, 1 Treant Wood, 4 Dwarven Wires, 1 Treant Staff, 1 Plane per attempt at making TS (note. you get the plane back if you fail)

I was able to fletch this fine bow using this method at 70 (thats right i said 70) fletching with under 100 dex and 90 wis. If you happen to get it early on in the process, dont' destroy the rest of your materials. Get a guildmate or a mule and give him the bow to hold while you try again and again in hopes of having two bows =). Or you can try and sell off the treant staffs you get from Mysean.

I am having trouble getting Jyle Windshot to give me the treant wood, I have the proper one, and handing him the lanterns gives no results and yields only a message that I have not proven myself to the faydak champions...I am a human ranger. Is it that I do not have the proper faction and need to go kill a few thousand CB orcs? Any other humans having trouble completing this quest?
RE: Human Ranger Needs a hand
# Nov 09 2001 at 3:20 PM Rating: Default
I am also a Human Ranger level 10. I get the same message about proving myself. I will try killing the CB orcs and see if they will eventually give me the quest. Killed about 30 of the Clockworks and only got two servos so far. Got the same message from Jyle Windshot when turning in lanterns.

Jokko's wooden heart
# Oct 30 2001 at 12:58 PM Rating: Default
Hello fellow Rangers!
I collected a half dozen or so pieces of treant wood from Mr. Windshot, and in the process, also recieved a red wooden heart. Might this be the heart of a Treant? Regardless of its origin, what exactly should I do with it?

By the way, after reading the other posts, I intend to wait on attempting to make the trueshot.
Guess I'll sell the materials to a fellow Ranger, below wholesale price of course.

The (treant) wooden heart is used to upgrade the Trueshot to a Rain Caller. This quest used to be broken (not sure if it still is) but you need to be level 30 or greater so it might not be worth hanging onto if you don't have slots available in the bank.
Trueshot Attempts
# Oct 29 2001 at 4:25 PM Rating: Default
I believe that there is no certain level of either fletching or level needed to create the Trueshot. But you should at least be a master fletcher and have decent DEX and WIS stats (i.e. 90+) I created it last night after my sixth attempt!! Boy did that feel good. Im a level 35 woodelf: DEX 123, WIS 95 and fletching 118. I also had Boywering book open during all attempts. Thank Tunare I bought had at least 20 treant shards(wood shards), 20 Kiola nuts, and 10 dwarven wire. I had a friend buy more nuts to get extra tumpy tonics for more wire BTW. You should get as much materials as you can-its easier than having to run all the way back WF and the sisters isle. I do know that hunting the clockworks is a b#$tch. I also spent the better part of yesterday afternoon and the day before collecting those #$#%# servos. Being that they are green made it low risk, but very boring. Here is a hint: if you need the clockworks to spawn try killing the rats. Good Luck and don't give up!
Additional quest info
# Oct 29 2001 at 4:06 PM Rating: Good
I read all I could find about this quest from this and a couple other sites and thought I'd add a few details that might help others that follow. Many posts are from the point of view of what I consider to be high level characters. For example, they simply say to collect Kiola Nuts on the island in OOT but due to the warnings I found in a couple of posts and speaking with other Rangers in game, I knew that a pirate patrolled the island so lowbies should either buy quickly and get back on the boat or hide while waiting for the next boat to arrive.

Because my intent was to collect enough components for 20 Trueshot attempts, I planned on two quick visits to the island to get 40 Kiola Nuts. The first trip was uneventful. I ran to the first hut and quickly bought 20 nuts and returned to the boat as it departed. However, on the next trip I left from BB and didn't get off in Freeport before continuing on, so was lagging slightly when I got to the island and just missed the boat. I had no idea how long it would take for the next boat to arrive so I hid under the dock and cast camo once, then twice. While waiting I saw a level 9 character get attacked by Dayle Jornin and killed just before being attacked myself. I started out into the water to evade my attacker who was doing 30 hit points of damage but he followed me so I started fighting back before I noticed he conned blue to my level 15 ranger. Once dead, I looted a pirate's earring that identified him as the pirate to watch out for.

The other difficult part of the quest for lower level characters involves farming Micro Servos in Steamfont. They have a very low drop rate from the Runaway Clockwork spiders in the newbie area near the druid ring and south of the windmills so most of my time was spent hunting Rogue Clockworks out in front of the mino caves and on the ridges NNW of the windmills. The biggest hazard was the Missionary who killed me twice in the 25 hours I spent in Steamfont. Also, the plague rats were a pain because they deplete health and consume mana trying to regain enough health to continue hunting. At level 15 I could handle a couple clockworks at a time but sometimes the earth/steam elementals would gang up 3 at a time and I'd be out of commission again regaining health.

The last problem I found was once all the clockworks were killed and looted, a lower level character isn't able to kill enough MOBs to get the clockworks to respawn quickly. It might take over an hour for them to reappear and because of the low drop rate I once spent 4 hours killing the few spawns without getting any Micro Servos at all. The best hunting I had was logging on for 20 minutes early one morning before work and getting 4 servos. I found that if there are any other rangers hunting in Steamfont, it just isn't worth the spending the time if you have to share in the loot, neither one of you will be getting much in return.

I finally left Steamfont after collecting 33 servos so decided to increase my chances by raising fletching from 102 to 138. Even then, I became worried until success on my ninth attempt though I got two skillups, 140 on my successful attempt.

Based on various posts, I'd say I had average success on this quest. I didn't succeed easily on my first fletching attempt nor did I fail miserably for 20 straight attempts. I didn't give up during the dry spells when collecting servos because of that memorable 20 minutes when I looted 4. The only advice I can offer would be to hunt in Steamfont in the early hours before anyone else arrives and the zone is fully spawned or when it is busy (but with no other rangers) with others who will keep the spawns going and /auction to pay some plat to anyone giving the location of a dead clockwork with a servo they aren't interested in anyway. Good luck to all who follow.

I thought you were supposed to use the following in making the Trueshot:

1 Spiderling Silk
1 Microservo
1 Treant Wood
2 Dwarven Wires

Yeild = 1 Treant Staff

Then to make the actual bow you use the following:

1 Microservo
1 Treant Staff
1 Plane
2 Dwarven Wires

Yeild = Trueshot Longbow

Could someone verify this. I read the post from Fruits Lvl 15 Ranger. I am a Lvl 22 Ranger and my Fletching skill is about 120 and have tried 10 times to make the bow. The Microservos are getting harder and harder to attain. I spent a good 5 hours RL time in Steamfont and gathered about a stack in all the time I was there combined. I need to know if I only use 1 Dwarven wire to make the staff and 1 to make the bow. If so that is prolly the reason I have been failing.

Thanks in advance!

it requires 1 spiderling silk 1 trent wood chip 1 micro servo and 1 dwarven wire=1tent bow staff
1 dwarven wire 1 micro servo 1 planning tool and 1 trent bow staff= trueshot bow if you made one

also I noticed that when you turn in pack of amterials you get 15 gold well making a trueshot bow makes you lose the 13 pp planning tool but it is worth 135 or so if you fail you get tool back and lose everything else well when you fail you lose 1 gold in process but you accuattly do gain 14 gold peices out of it from turning in bow just words of wisdom
RE: Recipie
# Oct 28 2001 at 7:44 AM Rating: Default
The bow calls for 1 dwarven wire in each step. Also, althougth I might be wrong, if you were leaving the wire stacked in your fletching kit, that is why it allowed you to attempt to combine them. And get your skill up higher if you don't want to fail although this is no guarantee either.

I gathered the materials for 5 attempts fully intending to wait till my fletching skill was at least 160. I couldn't resist though and tried with skill lvl at 148. I got lucky and got my bow, the next 4 tries I failed.

If anyone tells you to just go buy one, yes you can do that. But I for one am very proud of my bow. It was my first completed (and only right now) quest and I'm very proud of my bow. I hope to turn it into a raincaller someday.

Well managed to succeed on my 7th and what would have otherwise been my final attempt. A Level 15 Ranger with 103 skill. By my guess I spent over 12 hours hunting clockworks. I had spent every coin I had practicing and even had to sell my Ashwood bow just to come up with the coins to buy the plane. After the first batch of attempts failed I had to hunt the next batch of clockworks without the benefit of my bow. It was worth the trouble but I would highly recommend this quest for someone much lower in level than I so that you could get experience for hunting all those clockworks. At least then all that time hunting would be well spent. On a side note be EXTREMELY CAREFULL on the Isle of Erollisi. My first trip I was attacked by a powerful Monk- A named pirate or bandit or some such. He would have killed me had it not been for some sort of pathing bug that caused him to suddenly run off in another direction. It would have been a very long journey back to reclaim my corpse. I have never been so relieved in my life as when I saw a high level Mage come running to the dockside to await the next boat.

Guess I was lucky... 16 Ranger with 108 Fletch and WIS/INT in the 75-80 range. I fletched the bow on the 3rd try. Failed on 7 subsequent attempts, then ran out of servos.

A note on lore items (for those who dont now), you can only have ONE of these bows in your posession at a time (including the bank). I forgot this on my first few subsequent attempts... You have to give the bow to a mule or trusted friend in order to fletch the second bow...

On MICRO SERVOS. These things are a PAIN. I camped Steamfont for 9 straight hours. I am a Master Tracker, and probably killed 200 rogue clockworks... Only got 13 servos.. It takes two to attempt one bow. One to give to Maesyn Trueshot to get the staff, the second to fletch the bow.

QUESTION: I saw a reference somewhere to enchanting this bow into a Raincaller. Jyle Windshot gave me a wooden heart which is supposedly related. Also remember something about a guild in Felwithe... Anyone know?

This quest has the potential to be very frustrating, but I was equally elated when I finally fletched my Trueshot. At 138 fletching w/dex 99 and wis 98 it worked on the second try. This of course was after about 18 unsuccessful attempts w/a fletch of 100, hoping to be one of the lucky ones. I'm glad I hung in there and did it on my own, although I couldn't blame anyone for just buying one.

As a level 13 wood elf ranger with a fletching skill of 102 and a WIS of 105, I was able to make the Trueshot Longbow after 5 tries. This bow is awesome!! It was worth scraping all my spare money into the fletching skill for this. This is a great quest for rangers.

The treant heart is no drop and also lore -- makes this quest a big pain unless you get lucky and make the bow on your first attempt.

The treant heart is for the enchanted longbow -- not the Trueshot.

If I recall correctly only the Micro Servers are no drop... Just made mine a few weeks ago on the second try with a skill of 165

To those of you who say this quest is a waste of time I disagree with you. As a lvl 12 ranger when I started this quest (have not finished as of yet). I have completed a side quest turned in many black boxes, killed a few mino slavers and and turned in quite a bit of scrap metal to get my facton up with the Gem Choppers guild (gnome warriors) then did the bootstrappers framed backpack (a 10 slot 10% weight reduction no drop though). I don't have enough to buy one from the tailors out there. So I have not even completed the quest and I feel I have gotten my moneys worth

I completed this quest 2 days after I made this first post, btw I had collected enough micro-servers for 21 tries. I got the bow on my second try with fletching of 103 did not have enough money to go higher. I also went from low 12 to mid 13 on leveling. I feel this quest defines the ranger just as the ghoulbane defines the Paladin

It's just not worth it

Yep meet another ranger who agrees with past rangers that have tried and are still trying to complete this quest. Its just not worth it. Im going onto my 10th attempt with a flectching skill of 148! (all 10 attempts at 140+)

Dont even ask how much money I have spent on flecthing those blasted arrows. Easily 150+ plat worth of materials. I used the fletching guide at interealms.com. Great site for ranger guides.

My advice, save your money, most importantly save your time, (use it to level up rather than spend time flectching arrorws) and accumulate 100 pp and buy one if you even want it that badly. YOu spend all this money on boosting your fletching skill and when you finally fletch the bow, you can't even do anything with your high fletchin skill because selling arrows is not very profitable. There simply isnt a lot buyers.

I leave on happy note. I have friend who fletched the bow at a lvl 69 fletching skill.

A dumbfounded,

Just a note guy... if you ONLY spent 150pp on skilling up then you did good. So now you spent 150pp to get to make a bow that goes for 200pp, as well as having the skill to craft arrows that will dish out nice damage.

Root... Twang twang...

Mob is at half health before it even gets to swing at you.

Not a bad investment.

Sorry for the empty post.. hit the enter button by mistake... My question is this.. i have a warrior n was thinkin i would do the quest for my ranger since it would be easier for him to get everything and then transfer to ranger, however when i gave the lanterns to Jyle i got something like wood shards or to that effect not trent wood... so does that mean i can only get the treant wood from Jyle with a ranger? any help on that would be kindly appreciated.

Hate to tell you, but some of the Trueshot ingredients are NO DROP. I know for a fact the microservos are, and I believe the Dwarven Wire is, as well...

Wooden shards work. (wooden shards=treant wood) I used my druid to trade lanterns for wood, then traded them to my ranger, who completed the quest without a problem.

Im gunna start off by saying i got like 5 of each quest item with a lvl8 wood elf ranger and had someone else fletch it for me but in regards to your question i believe the wood shards is the treant wood, you just have to identify it to clarify that it is the treant wood
