You say, 'Hail, Kaya Cloudfoot'

Kaya Cloudfoot says 'A pleasure to make your acquaintance Haebbeni. I am Kaya Cloudfoot, first Paladin of the Storm Reapers. I traveled long ago when I was just a wee sprout to the city of Qeynos far to the west. It was there I grew under the tutelage of the Knights of Thunder, a noble order of paladins loyal to Karana, the Storm Lord. I have returned now to Rivervale to teach interested young halflings the ways of a Knight of the Storm Reapers so that we may defend Karanas people and lands from the [evil forces] that would see it destroyed. '

You say, 'What evil forces'

Kaya Cloudfoot says 'There are many problems and creatures that trouble Karanas people through out Norrath and threaten our otherwise peaceful ways of life. Our common folk here in Rivervale are troubled by the wicked Teir`Dal, the Death Fist Orcs, and the Goblins of Clan Runnyeye and Pickclaw. It is the calling and duty of a Knight of the Storm Reapers to defend the common folk from these enemies of Rivervale. Are you willing to [defend the commoners]? '

You say, 'I will defend the commoners'

Kaya Cloudfoot says 'You have made an honorable decision, Haebbeni. First you will need to be outfitted in a suit of armor to protect you from the weapons of our foes. Seek Jimji Bottletoe here in Rivervale and give him this letter. Jimji will instruct you further on acquiring a suit of armor worthy of a new Knight of the Storm Reapers. When you have been outfitted in your Bravefoot Armor return to me and I shall prepare you for your [next task]. '

Your Location is -254.84, -114.60, -17.81

Give the note to Jimji Bottletoe

Jimji Bottletoe says 'Pleased to meet you Haebbeni! You must be one of Kayas new trainees. Kaya has asked me to help get you outfitted in a suit of armor to protect you from the vile weapons of Rivervales foes. I have assembled a kit for you that will allow you to construct the armor pieces once you have gathered the necessary components. The required components vary according to which piece of Bravefoot Mail armor you are planning on assembling. Do you wish to craft a [bravefoot helm], a [bravefoot mail bracer], [bravefoot gauntlets], [bravefoot mail boots], [bravefoot vambraces], [bravefoot greaves], or a [bravefoot breastplate]. '

You say, 'I wish to craft a bravefoot breastplate'

Jimji Bottletoe says 'To assemble a Bravefoot Breastplate you will need to obtain four bricks of crude iron ore and smelt them in a [forge] with a Water Flask and this Crude Breastplate Mold. Once that is done combine the Crude Iron Breastplate with a Medium Quality Wolf Pelt and a Giant Yellowjacket Thorax in the Mail Assembly Kit. '

I am in Qeynos and wondering if I should come out to Rivervale to do this quest. Is it the only armor a Knight of Thundar can wear? I'm lvl 5, Thanks.
no

I dont think ANY... i mean ANY of the noob amor quests need ANY skill in tailoring or to forge. The just need the items and to combine. Liek the bug part quest, its a container that simply DOES it...

Thorax
# Apr 16 2002 at 5:27 PM Rating: Default
This is by far the biggest upset, all other classes have several young hobbits running arround wearing the warrior, cleric, ranger, druid, rogue fashions. The Thorax will not drop from the Yellowjackets, I logged on for the third day, already got my greeves, vambs, gauntlets, and boots. I heard 3 GYJ thoraxes dropped hours earlier (don't think i can trust this) I hunted well over 150 GYJ and spent 3 days (RL) doing so. Never seen the Thorax. Gained 3 levels up to 12 but i would still rather have the BP so i could finish my set.

Verant seriously loves pissing off the hybreds by dangling a bp like this in front of our eyes but always keeping it out of reach.

maybe all of these "uber-rare drops" can teach all the low levels an important skill:

camping an item

Hehe, logged in Dead Yellowjacket at the gate, got my thorax...easy as that.... Now if only the Large Yellowjackets spawned more often......

Not sure if this helps. At level 8 I got a thorax and successfully made the breast plate. I found it on a giant yellowjacket. Go through the gates where the guards are (towards runnyeye), and take a right. The giant yellowjacket was about halfway to the corner, near the wall. This was on Vallon Zek.

I have spent almost 30 hours now trying to get a thorax to drop. I thought this was suppose to be a newbie quest. Looks like it is a life long adventure. Leave it to Verant to make the item so rare that i have only found 1 person that has seen it drop. I have been trying to get the BP since level 5 Iam now level 12. Seven levels and still no thorax Verant needs to get there head out of there a** on the drop rates for the new quest drops.

i think every class is feeling this same kind of pinch in some regard. We Rangers just can't seem to find Ribcages or anywhere NEAR enough drakeling scales. Anyway I have personally seen ONE Thorax. I shouted the loc, hopefully someone got it. At least I can verify that they DO drop. GL.
Ore

The ore drops off the goblin beyond the wall. I got some from a warrior.

He is in Rivervale...a town full of newbie rangers happy to use their new tracking skill. Just ask someone to track him. If that doesn't work. Enter RV through Misty. Turn right and head south. Go down into the group of hovels on your right. He is in one of those.
