You say, 'Hail, Thekela Meepup'

Thekela Meepup says 'It is a pleasure to meet you Geannun. I am Thekela Meepup, one of the highest ranking Clerics in all of Rivervale. I pride myself on being the mentor for all of the furryfooted that are called upon by Bristlebane to give life. If you are a [Cleric] I might have some training for you to complete if you so wish. '

You say, 'I am a Cleric'

Thekela Meepup says 'Geannun the Templar. Well I suppose that does have quite a nice ring to it don't you say? If you stick with your training perhaps this could be what you are referred to one day. Before that day though, you have a lot to learn and a lot of training ahead of you! Do you want to [begin your training] at this time? '

You say, 'I want to begin my training'

Thekela Meepup says 'Excellent! I will give you a variety of items to collect and combine in this magical assembly kit to create a material that you will use to craft armor. My hope is that as you gather these items you will learn about your home and how to navigate around the surrounding areas of the Vale. If you are ready to begin your adventure I will present you with your Magical Mail Assembly Kit and the instructions for collecting the necessary items to craft your armor. Are you [ready to receive your Magical Mail Assembly Kit]? '

You say, 'I am ready to receive my Magical Mail Assembly Kit'

Thekela Meepup says 'Here you are Geannun. Take this mail assembly kit, it is what you will use to combine the different items necessary to craft your own Platemail of the Stoutdeacon. Different combinations of items will be required from both our town and the hunting grounds in the thicket to create materials for specific armor pieces with Crude Iron Ore being the basis for all of your armor materials. When you are ready to receive a recipe for a specific material simply tell me what armor piece you [want] to craft. I will then supply you with the mold and recipe for Stoutdeacon Platemail [Helms], [Bracers], [Boots], [Armguards], [Greaves], [Gloves] and [Breastplates]. '

You say, 'I want to craft a breastplate'

Thekela Meepup says 'So the time has finally come for you to create your final piece of armor I see Geannun. Seek out 5 Bricks of Crude Iron Ore, 1 Deathfist Slashed Belt, 1 Giant Yellowjacket Sternites, 2 Dark Elf Skins and 1 Undamaged Mossy Rat Pelt then combine them in your kit. Take that material along with this mold to the nearest forge and reap the rewards of your hard work. Come back to see me when you are finished because I have a [special task] for you. '

What is the minimum level to try this quest? I'm level 4 Halfling Cleric now but I was going to wait until I was level 6 or so.
Also, I've been hunting in Misty Thicket for ages and I can't see any Giant Yellowjacket - where does he/she spawn and what level is he/she lol? Are the deathfist slashed belts no drop or can they be bought at shops or at auction?
Thanks!
Lynny, level 4 Halfling Cleric

I forgot the recipe, went back to the Thekela Meepup to get it and... she wouldn't give it to me. Then, brilliantly, I thought to destroy one of my molds (picked the helm) so I could get the info. Noooooeewwwwp. No info coming. What's worse? No mold either! Lost my chance at that fabulous helm.

Also for the BP, it is indeed "undamaged" pelts -- and don't use the mold until after when you are combining.

My latest problem is I can't get the combine on the BP to work -- I have the mold, the substance, but combine won't work.

Hey -- btw -- you can't use the Vale Forge, the one out by the inn. You have to use the forge by the druid's guild. I was banging my head on the keyboard over this. =)
fitting it all in?

i dosen't seem like it would all fit? there 10 items and the box it only 8? what do i do now? do i stack the dark elf skins?
bugged?

My lvl 10 halfling cleric now has:
5 bricks Crude Iron Ore; 1 Deathfist Slashed Belt; 1 Giant Yellowjacket Sternite; 2 Dark Elf Skins; and 1 Mossy Rat Pelt. I put all into my Magical Mail Assembly Kit, but when I hit combine--Nothing!!! The only things I can figure is "Sternites" (called for) vs "Sternite" (actually drops); or maybe "Undamaged Mossy Rat Pelt" (called for) vs "Mossy Rat Pelt" (drops). Has ANYone out there successfully made this BP???
IS there such a thing as an "UNDAMAGED Mossy Rat Pelt," and, if so, where does it drop? Thanks for your help!

Yes, I actually got 3 undamaged mossy pelts while killing rats for parts for my little portal'er halfling druid.

They drop maybe 1 in 50 kills or so from the rat just outside the entrance to the city.

If you hunt the rats to you r right when exiting the city you won't have any issues with high levels running thru and causing every mob there to aggro on you.
sternites

this is crazy, i've been here for several days, the giant yellowjacket is very rare, i've killed many and never seen a sternate, has anyone ever seen one of these or is this thing broken.

Just wondering - I just started a character on Firiona Vie and I was wondering if the trivial loot code will make it impossible to do these armor quests. Thanks!
About the Spawn / Drop Rates
# Jun 24 2002 at 11:18 PM Rating: Default
What I think, IMO. Is that Verant in trying to prepare the low levels into camping when they get in the later ones. That's why I think there are such rare occurances of these NPC's / Items

The skins drop from "a shadowed assassin". They are just left from the gate in the wall.

Yours truly,

Are these no drop? How do you get the giant yellowjackets to spawn? When do they spawn? Will I ever get a sternite?

I have the undamaged mossy rat pelt before the sternite. That's not right.

Hi there,

Bricks of Crude Iron Ore drop from most Goblins in the danger side of the Misty Thicket.

Got mine Today, It took forever to find the sternite, but eventually one dropped. I guess it counters the fact that i found the Undamaged Mossy Rat pelt so quickly...had to have a choke point somewhere i guess....

The armor it self is nice shade of yellow and plate to boot... lol

Could someone post where one can find Dark Elf skins? I haven't seen any dark elves in Misty yet, anywhere. ^^;

After you go through the arch in the wall, follow the wall to the left. As you get close to the end of the wall, you'll see about 6 of them just standing there.

Plus there is one that always seperates from the pack, you can take her/him solo all day long. Respawn seems to be about 8 minutes or so..
Undamaged Mossy Rat Pelt

I am assuming that since the stats for the Stoutdeacon Breastplate have been posted, someone has gotten this item. Does anyone care to comment on how impossible it is to find an UNDAMAGED mossy rat pelt? Is there even any such thing, and if so, will you share how to find one? I have farmed diseased rats for 2 days straight and have not seen one drop.

Don't worry,
It took me 2 days for an Undamaged Mossy pelt to drop from the deseased rats.
It took even longer for the Drakeling scales, boy they take ages to spawn!
But persevere, the full armour looks really cool - At last boots for Halflings :)

i have hunted diseased rats in the ruins to the left of the RV entrance (when facing the Misty Thicket)for maybe 5 hours total and has got around 1 stack of ruined pelts, 2 pelts and 2 undamaged pelts. So they do drop.

Well I managed to get one. Also got a pelt that said it was damaged. If you aren't finding the damaged ones then you are hunting the wrong rats. There are large rats and Thicket rats on the other side of the wall. Try those, as I cannot remember where I looted mine.

As of today all of the classes for the Halflings and DE's are taken care of by non-twink newbie armor/weapon quests. It took about 3weeks between the DE ( excluding the Cleric ones) and the Halfling quest, so we should be seeing a new race get theirs every 3 weeks or so.

Cudos to VI for finally getting around to doing this. When I saw the Beastlords get their quests I was hoping the others would get some to.
