You say, 'Hail, Thekela Meepup'

Thekela Meepup says 'It is a pleasure to meet you Geannun. I am Thekela Meepup, one of the highest ranking Clerics in all of Rivervale. I pride myself on being the mentor for all of the furryfooted that are called upon by Bristlebane to give life. If you are a [Cleric] I might have some training for you to complete if you so wish. '

You say, 'I am a Cleric'

Thekela Meepup says 'Geannun the Templar. Well I suppose that does have quite a nice ring to it don't you say? If you stick with your training perhaps this could be what you are referred to one day. Before that day though, you have a lot to learn and a lot of training ahead of you! Do you want to [begin your training] at this time? '

You say, 'I want to begin my training'

Thekela Meepup says 'Excellent! I will give you a variety of items to collect and combine in this magical assembly kit to create a material that you will use to craft armor. My hope is that as you gather these items you will learn about your home and how to navigate around the surrounding areas of the Vale. If you are ready to begin your adventure I will present you with your Magical Mail Assembly Kit and the instructions for collecting the necessary items to craft your armor. Are you [ready to receive your Magical Mail Assembly Kit]? '

You say, 'I am ready to receive my Magical Mail Assembly Kit'

Thekela Meepup says 'Here you are Geannun. Take this mail assembly kit, it is what you will use to combine the different items necessary to craft your own Platemail of the Stoutdeacon. Different combinations of items will be required from both our town and the hunting grounds in the thicket to create materials for specific armor pieces with Crude Iron Ore being the basis for all of your armor materials. When you are ready to receive a recipe for a specific material simply tell me what armor piece you [want] to craft. I will then supply you with the mold and recipe for Stoutdeacon Platemail [Helms], [Bracers], [Boots], [Armguards], [Greaves], [Gloves] and [Breastplates]. '

You say, 'I want to craft an armguard'

Thekela Meepup says 'It is important that your arms are protected while you are on the battlefield Geannun. To create your Armguards material make sure you collect 3 Bricks of Crude Iron Ore, 1 Giant Wood Spider Hairs, 2 Thorn Drakeling Scales and 2 Lettuce then combine them in your kit. After you have your material ready take it to the forge and combine it along with this mold to create your very own Armguards of the Stoutdeacon. '

Well, I have stayed at the T-junction as suggested for hours and hours and have so far seen only 1 drakeling. And it did not drop a scale. They are light blue to me at 9th so I suspect I will not be getting the armguards if the trivial loot code on FV operates on this. (and I suspect it will) There is no way I have any coin to pay 25pp for one as someone else did. I never mind a challenge but personally think this is ridiculous.

Thought they got rid of trivial loot code?

Just how rare are the thorn drakeling scales, i've killed dozens and got only two ruined ones. is this quest broken??
GWSpider Hair?

Okay, it's bad enough when it's a rare drop on a rare spawn. Now mix in other classes needing the same thing, factored by the fact that Deputies have about 1/4 of the zone constantly KSed, this is by far the toughest of the newbie cleric quests. I understand it takes awhile for the drakeling scales to drop, and will probably start offering PP for them, but what I REALLY WANT TO KNOW is; do the giant wood spiders actually drop a spider hair?

HOW TO SPAWN?

i've spent a long time looking for these scales, nothing not even ruined. rare spawn with rare drop is mean. any special things to kill to get them to spaw?
this quest bites

Thorn drakelings are the second rarest spawn inside the wall, the rarest beening Queen Klaknak.

Out of approximately 90 drakelings whacked, I got one pristine scale, one regular, and about fourteen ruined scales. I did this over about 48 hours of playing.

In the end, I kept offering 25pp for a scale and I finally got a taker.

The good news is that ruined ones go for about 5pp and pristine ones you can set your own price. Also, collect Misty Acorns which go for 1pp each so that when you get totally bored with this quest, you can buy one like I did.

Any ideas where Thorn Draklings spawn....? Certainly not in Misty Thicket =(

Yup, these little blighters do spawn in Misty, but are extremely rare, and from what snowball is saying their scales are used for many class armour, so competion for the rare drop scales is hot.
The best place to wait for them is by the "T" junction on the path near to the wall gate.

They spawn in Misty Thicket in the Newbie side, they are a Rare spawn and the scales are a Rare drop off of them. I'm still looking for 2 more regular scales to complete my Ranger's armor set, so good luck on finding them. May the fastest and luckiest halfling win.
