You say, 'Hail, Hibbs Rootenpaw'

Hibbs Rootenpaw says 'Hello! I am Hibbs Rootenpaw, Master Druid of the Storm Reapers. If you have not yet ventured beyond Rivervale beware of the [dangers] that lurk through out the lands beyond our shire. There are many evil beings that would not hesitate to end the life of a young druid of the Storm Reapers. '

You say, 'What Dangers'

Hibbs Rootenpaw says 'The Teir'Dal, or Dark Elves, to the east have slain a number of brave Storm Reapers that are attempting to cleanse the Nektulos Forest of the corruption caused by the Teir'Dals evil magics. To the west, the human farmers in the Plains of Karana are beset upon by vicious tribes of Gnolls and must valiantly defend their farms. Closer to home the Death Fist Orcs and Goblin Clans Runnyeye and Pick Claws all attempt to control the Misty Thicket and chop down its sturdy trees for lumber. If you are planning on leaving the safety of Rivervale I advise you to deliver this note to Bartle Barnick. He will help you get yourself outfitted for survival in the wilds. When he has outfitted you in a suit of protective leather return here for [further instruction]. '

You say, 'Further instructions.'

Hibbs Rootenpaw says 'If you feel you are ready for the responsibility of an important task then you may assist with the [investigation] of the ancient cursed fields in the Misty Thicket. The crumbling walls that surround the cursed fields are believed to have been constructed around the same time as the ruined tower and the great wall of Cetelt. We Storm Reapers believe that the walls once surrounded beautiful and fruitful gardens. The arrogance of the caretaker of the gardens offended the Gods and in turn the gardens were cursed with disease and an evil power that animates the corpses of the dead. The Scarecrow, Old Gourdhead, stands in one of these two fields and warns passers by that it is an accursed place. Recently someone has been placing rats in the fields to become diseased. '

*Hand note to Bartle Barnick*

Bartle Barnick says 'It is good to see another of our young people choose the humble life of a druid of Karana. I have assembled that will allow you to construct some protective leather garments to keep you comfortable in the wilds and help turn aside the weapons of the Storm Reapers enemies. The required components for the leather vary according to which piece of Moss Toe Leather you are planning on crafting. Do you wish to craft a [moss toe cap], a [moss toe bracer], [moss toe gloves], [moss toe boots], [moss toe sleeves], [moss toe leggings], or a [moss toe tunic]. '

You say, 'Moss Toe Sleeves'

Bartle Barnick says 'To assemble Moss toe Sleeves you will require two [silk thread], a mossy rat pelt, and two giant wood spider patella. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Mail Assembly Kit with this Tattered Sleeves Pattern. '

Forth day hunt for Patella no drop
# Aug 29 2002 at 3:46 PM Rating: Decent
From day one, I figuered the drops I'd need to fill the Moss Toe Armor quest for druid newbies. Never did I see a no drop Patella from the Giant Wood Spiders. Now at level 11 in Rivervale hunting the Misty Thickets, will the sun ever shine here? Pls give a shout when no drop found, even if I am the only one in the zone, btw. This zone is very small.
Mossy Rat Pelts drop from disease rats, you know, as you enter Misty Thickets from Rv. Either side right side or left side, you know, the funny court with the undead and disease rats spawn at.

The pelt does drop, albeit very rarely, it took me 3 solid days and many headaches later for it to finally drop.

the pelts

the diseased rats near the entrance are what drop these pelts. almost always u will find a damaged one but it is possible to get others they are just much rarer. the undamaged i have never seen in 100 or more kills but i know it drops cause my friend has the whole suit. the regular pelt i got after somthing like 50 or so kills. just keep killing them and auctioning and u will eventually get one.

PS: if u plan on killing them be sure you are a high enough level cause they WILL aggro and you usually end up with somthing around 5 on you and they also disease so be careful unless you are high enough (i would say maybe 8).

anyways i will shut up now and good luck

A Mossy Rat Pelt?
# Jun 27 2002 at 10:07 PM Rating: Decent
Everything else that I see uses a ruined mossy rat pelt. Why are the sleeves different? I have been killing rats for hours now and still no regular pelt. Are these rare or something? Do you make one out of the other pelts or what? I am totally bummed at this. Any info on the sleeves or the mossy rat pelt. BTW I did try to use an undamaged mossy rat pelt, and it did not work either.

Hi there i've gotten both the undamaged mossy rat pelt, and the mossy rat pelt, but both are extremely hard drops to get,i must have slain at least 40 of those diseased varmints over the course of three days, best advice i can give is keep trying, and when you do get some hang on to them because you need both of them for different moss toe item quests.
need a pattern too
# Jun 08 2002 at 11:05 PM Rating: Default
