This is done after completing the initiate quest.

Ithvol K`Jasn is a Cleric guildmaster and can easily be found with the use of CTRL-F.

You say, 'Hail, Ithvol K`Jasn'

Ithvol K`Jasn says, 'Hail, _____! I sense the gift of hatred in your aura. What status do you hold within these Spires?'

You say, 'I am an initiate of Innoruuk'

Ithvol K`Jasn says, 'Well met, Initiate _____. If you desire to raise your station in this temple, I have a task for you. Are you willing to accept the task I am about to set before you?'

You say, 'I am willing'

Ithvol K`Jasn says 'As an initiate of the Spires, you have proven your hatred of the halflings who are desecrating our forest with their feeble shrines and camps. They persist in their hopeless task and seem to anticipate many of our tactics against them. Go out into the Nektulos and slay the one called Master Whoopal. Take his head to Draxiz N'Ryt so that he may probe the brain.'

Master Woopal's PH - Quester Dunden - in Nectulos Forest - wanders between 70.0, 786.0, 10.0 and 82.0, 854.0, 10.0 at the druid spires in Nektulos. Kill him until Master Woopal spawns.

Master Woopal is a 13th level halfling druid. Kill him, taking care not to aggro the Halfling Protector which is a 20th level cleric.

You have slain Master Woopal!
Your faction standing with Storm Reapers has been adjusted by -50.
Your faction standing with Mayor Gubbin has been adjusted by -5.
Your faction standing with Merchants of Rivervale has been adjusted by -7.
Your faction standing with Unkempt Druids has been adjusted by 7.
Master Woopal's corpse says 'My comrades will avenge my death.'

--You have looted a Halfling Druid Master's Head.--

Go to Draxiz N`Ryt in Neriak Commons to deliver the head. He can be found upstairs in the caster's guild at location 120, -980, 3,75 (you can CTRL-F to the enchanter guildmaster Ryoz nearby).

You can do this turn-in at dubious faction. Give him the Halfling Druid Master's Head.

Draxiz N`Ryt says, 'I have foreseen your arrival, _____. I see from the mind of this lesser creature you have slain that he was receiving orders from beyond the boundaries of Nektulos. I see an armored Leatherfoot moving cautiously through the commonlands attempting to avoid the eyes of travelers and guard posts. Find this Leatherfoot I see in my visions and return any pertinent information he may be carrying to me so that I may decipher it. I have skinned the face of this druid and enchanted it so that you may learn what you must through your skills of subterfuge. Go now, _____, and do not disappoint me!'

Your faction standing with The Spurned has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with The Dead has been adjusted by -1.
You gain experience!!

Receive "Skinned Halfling Face Mask" a 1-charge Halfling Illusion Mask, must equip to cast - instant.

Find Wallin Slyfoot in the western part of the Commonlands (roams the area south of the Kithicor entrance and west of the lake).

You can use the face mask illusion effect to boost your faction. You need at least dubious faction to talk to him without the mask.

You say, 'Hail, Wallin Slyfoot'

Wallin Slyfoot says 'What? What do you want? Are you here to assist me?'

You say, 'Yes, I will assist you'

Wallin Slyfoot says 'Yes..yes..of course you will. It is a matter of the utmost importance. I need this letter to be delivered to Master Whoopal in the Nektulos forest but I must also get these Brussels sprouts to my granny before they spoil. Please deliver this message for me?'

Receive "Leatherfoot Raider Orders"

Return to Draxis in Neriak Commons and hand him the orders.

Draxiz N`Ryt says, 'I see you are more cunning than you appear, _____. These orders to Whoopal bring disturbing news indeed. It seems there is a Leatherfoot spy somewhere in Neriak who has been providing the raiders with information. Find this spy and return his head and your initiate holy symbol of Innoruuk to Ithvol and if he deems you worthy he will promote you within the ranks of the Spires.'

Your faction standing with The Spurned has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with The Dead has been adjusted by -1.
You gain experience!!

There is a secret tunnel that leads from the Toadstool (invisible wall hides the tunnel) all the way to Neriak Foreign Quarters (entrance in Foreign Quarters is near the trolls and their caves, behind a bed where the wall is marked with red glowing symbols).

The Spy does not spawn immediately behind the waterfall (this is the waterfall next to the Priest of Discord). Instead you have to keep going through the tunnel (towards the east) and do NOT go the way that leads to Foreign Quarters (south) but keep going eastwards and deeper into the tunnel. Eventually you step on an invisible floor (pit) and fall down, and there is the spy.

a leatherfoot spy says 'I have been discovered!!! You will never stop us from reclaiming the Nektulos for Karana, _____!!'

The spy will attempt to flee at low hp.

You have slain a leatherfoot spy!

You gain experience!!
You have slain a leatherfoot spy!

You have looted a Head of a Halfling Spy.

Return to Ithvol in Neriak 3rd Gate and give him the Head of a Halfling Spy and Initiate Symbol of Innoruuk.

Ithvol K`Jasn says 'You have focused the hate within you and discovered that hate and rage are not the same. Hate can be calculating and deceptive. For your service in defending the Kingdom of King Naythox Thex from the halfling invaders, I award you the disciple symbol of Innoruuk. Wear it with pride, _____.'

Your faction standing with Priests of Innoruuk has been adjusted by 50.

I am understanding a lot more now... this quest is totally separate form the 'woven grass amulet' quest. but I do want to know a few things. I already HAVE the head, a VERY cool Ogre let me loot while he slayed halflings for the scullcaps (of which I had a few, and a sow to offer for his kindness)
~
I am wondering if this quest will bump my faction up. Some quests not really effect the faction of the parties involved, and will it bump up my faction for the woven grass quest?
~
I also have a lvl 28 SK human, I might be able to walk around in Neriak? maybe? to kill these spys? A little harm touch and a little slaughtering.
~
how bad is the hit for the dead? and how is that raised? perhapse an undead muffin bakeoff? ;)~

Ok so its not totally seperate, but a prequill. Anyways. I had the head to turn in. I turned in the head and the first necklace. He gave me the mask. It rocked. I hotkeyed it. I ran out and by PURE luck he was there! So I activate it, and tell him I will assist him. I gett he note. etc. It all worked fine.As a side note, I bound myself at the waterfall, got some mana and self buffed. I had a 22 SK with me, with harmtouch up. Odd thing was I could not find him, and there is a 'pit fall' trap. After that I found him, the nasty little fur foot didnt put up too much of a fight after my friend Harmtouched him. I got his head and turned it and the necklace in and now I have the second item. I am currently working on the third.

Soon to come - me posting there

Don't need to kill whoopal
# Dec 28 2002 at 6:39 PM Rating: Decent
I found out that you don't need to get master Whoopal's head and then the halfling guise. You can have someone with better than dubious faction to Wallin Slyfoot hail him and he will give them the letter. I got the mask of the halfling and was still dubious.I had a human friend get the letter for me,then I turned it in.Hope this can save some people a little trouble.

I didn't have to kill Whoopal, the letter is no drop as mentioned now so I just got wolf form from a druid in zone and got letter....easy =)

Lots of druids usually in west commons because one of their druid rings is there so was very easy to get wolf on me.

With recent changes to Illusion effects, this may not work any longer.

For those who missed it in a patch message a while back, here's the deal. Illusion spells that change someone to a given playable race change their faction to the base for that race. Ones that change to a non-playable race or creature (ie elemental, wolf, scarecrow, etc.) will retain the player's current factions. I'm not sure if the religin-based factions are affected now, or if they still take effect over the illusion (like my Mithaniel-following Enchanter getting slapped by Inny-following DE guards even with DE Illusion on, have to get around to checking on that).

Now, the patch message only said "Illusion" spells as I recall, so that MAY only mean the Enchanter Illusion spells, or they may have meant ALL spells that have an Illusion effect in them. If it's the latter, then you're gonna have to go get that Halfling mask now.

Will Draxiz kill me?
# Nov 28 2002 at 7:26 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a level 34 High Elf Cleric trying to raise The Spurned faction (don't ask why). I'm LIKELY scowls, ready to attack to all Spurned, how can I go about doing this quest? Is Draxiz low enough in level that he won't attack me when I put up trade screen?
RE: Will Draxiz kill me?
# Jun 11 2003 at 7:44 AM Rating: Decent
Religion will probably have you perma-KOS to most of Neriak, especially in 3rd Gate (the outer sections are a bit more tolerant). Most of 3rd Gate is on factions aligned to Innoruuk, Cazic, and maybe some Bertoxx- deities not likely to accept followers of Tunare or the Marr twins.

Not that I'm saying it's impossible, but if it CAN be done, it will very likely take you a LOT of work.

For Trolls....
# Sep 28 2002 at 2:32 AM Rating: Decent
Just because I didn't see this posted anywhere...

Note that, although you WILL be dubious to Draxiz as a Troll Shaman of Innoruuk, you can still hand him the head with no problems (assuming you've done nothing to annoy The Spurned other than being a troll) and get the mask. Nothing like a halfling shaman to invoke the puzzled looks :)

RE: Spies lv
# Mar 09 2002 at 2:03 AM Rating: Decent
Spy was red to my lvl 15 Cleric, conned light blue to me at 27. The level was probably 18 or 19.

This was easy camped th totem till whoopal was whooped, let my cleric loot. I then used my cleric to get the letter from Wallin, though " I will assist you." did NOT work. I said "I will deliver your letter." My cleric took the letter back to the Spurned and the spy popped. Then I killed the spy and let my cleric loot. Not only was there the head but also a bronze rapier and main gauche that sold for around 5 pp together to vendors.

Human CLR
# Feb 16 2002 at 4:37 AM Rating: Default
Well, I went to WC hoping to check on this. Indeed, a human cleric that hasn't taken any faction hits yet with ol' Wallin can get the quest from him without any illusions.

Also, I did this for my dark elf cleric, when he was level 5. I killed the mobs with my 49 druid, so here's what I found that time.

With track I DID pick up 2 halflings on track, only one, however, dropped the head for me. The other dropped a bronze weapon and some minor cash. He was further in that cave area than the halfling that dropped the head. I don't know that the 2nd always spawns, but he didn't have a head, not for me at least.

This is how I did it yesterday:

If you read my post on the Initiate Quest board - then you already know that I picked up Master Whoopall's head while camping the Halfies at the totem. A buddy of mine decided he wanted to complete the quests at the same time - so I went back to the camp and we waited for two hours for Whoopall to spawn again. Keep killing the little halfie druids... they were a cake walk to us (lvl 30 cleric, lvl 31 shaman) - didn't even have to think about breaking a sweat. Careful of the deputy - twice we had to kill a deputy that was blue to us - prolly lvl 25-28 MOB. He's just a dumb fighter - but the other druids heal him if you fight him near the totem. He hits pretty hard - in the 70s occassionally.

Once my friend got the head - we went back to Neriak and activated the quest - each of us individually. We both had the halfie illusion mask and headed to West Common to go find Wallin.

Once in WC - we went immediately to the stone obelisk 100 yards away from the Kith zone. If you sit there and look south east - you will eventually see Wallin. He's a day time only spawn it seems - so if you get there at night - just hold out till around 8:00am (game time).

As soon as you see him - BACK AWAY! I stood there and was equiping my mask and getting ready to activate the illusion. He got to close and aggroed me... before I realized it however, I had already used my illusion. WASTE! We didn't have anyone to Memblur or Atone him to wipe his aggro list - so I had to kite him to keep him around while my buddy relogged another character to wipe his memory. While he was running to WC to do this - I LDed.... and lost my illusion.

SOOOOO..... called another friend to bring his druid in. He wolf-formed me and I approached Wallin again and spoke the phrase "I will assist you" and voila! A note.

Two things to think about at this point:
1) Make sure you target YOURSELF before activating the illusion - and activate it before he gets into aggro range.
2) Wolf form worked for me - but I don't know if you can skip killing Whoopall all together. Another poster stated you could - I can't corroborate that except to say that he did give me the note while in wolf form instead of halfie illusion.

After receiving the notes (one for each of us) - it was back to Neriak. My cleric friend sat and medded at the waterfall while I went to talk to Draxiz. I activated the Spy. Note singluar tense - there was only one for both of our activations. We swam UP the waterfall and into the hidden room. Went to the left down the ramp - through a hidden wall to the right and could see the halfie spy standing there. Cast two 149 point Frost Strikes - and beat the rest of the hitpoints out of him with my spear. Easy kill for us. Then it was my turn to med while my friend turned in his note and we killed him again.

Took the head and our initiate symbol to Ithvol (had to shrink my fat butt to get up the stairs) and the quest was completed with him giving us our Disciple's symbols.

Now on to Fay for the next part of our Regent's quest. Will be posting the details on that board as soon as we're done!

Time invested: 4 hours (because I had to wait for my friend to get his Whoopall head. If I had been alone, I had already gotten the head while killing the halfies for the amulets - my time alone would have been about 1 1/2 hours.)
RE: My Experience
# Jun 11 2003 at 7:51 AM Rating: Decent
As I posted above, the recent changes to non-playable race/MOB Illusions will probably mean that those doing this quest *will* have to get the Halfling Illusion mask first.

Also as a side note- all the actual "Illusion" spells from the Enchanter spell series are self-only, so you shouldn't have to target yourself to cast the Illusion off the mask (I could be mistaken, but that's how the spells themselves work). Of course that doesn't apply to targettable buffs that contain an Illusion effect, like Wolf Form, Boon of Garou, etc.

The way I got up there was to jump in the water - swim over to the water fall - look up and swim. You will swim UP the water fall and slip into the room behind it. From there - turn left and go down the ramp. In the first room down the ramp - go through a fake wall to your immediate right - you will see the Spy standing down the ramp ahead of you.

getting to the spies
# Jun 30 2001 at 7:37 PM Rating: Default
Just a quick note: If you don't/can't swim up to the room behind the waterfall, there is a path behind a fake wall in the Toadstool Inn that will you take you there. (It comes out in the troll section of the foreign quarter) It's hard to describe... the fake wall is a single wall panel the joins two rooms on the first floor. I promise it's there.

NOTHING. He doesn't even turn to face me, nor does he say ANYTHING AT ALL. Just eats the items. Gonna try again tommorow now that I'm level 5, but grr it's irritating. Well, the time I did this quest, the halfling spy that spawned was level 18. The spy is a rogue, and when I fought him, he dual wielded a bronze rapier and bronze main gauche, hitting rather quickly for maximum hits somewhere in the 30s. Best hope to kill him is try to root him, and hope it holds for more than a few seconds so you can nuke him several times. Otherwise, try to bring along some friends to help you out...just in case. :)

I would have to agree with the above poster. I just finished doing all 3 quests myself (where will have all 3 symbols). My lvl 22 twinked DE cleric was oom and at 1/2 hp when i finished the first time, and the second time she was at 1/4 mana and 3/4 hp. So, just in case, i would bring some evil friends. :)
