I Created This

Hey Folks,
Just created these with my alt necro, and I wanted to give some details on the process, because there were a few things I didn't know until I did it. First thing is Talorial's location. He is all the way upstairs in the Lodge of the Dead, in the little room/hall right off Noxhil's room. Next thing is how to actually create them. You start the text with him, and the conversation progresses. At one point, you have to say "Gather some items". At this time, you get the enchanted box for combining the items. You put this box in your inventory and then continue the conversation. When you get to the point where he mentions what can be made, you just say "I want the <item name> pattern". At this time you will get the pattern from him. Please note that the sandals have to be called slippers, or vice versa (whatever he mentions, you say the opposite). Once you get the pattern from him, you are done with him (until you make the next piece). Once you have everything from him, combine all items needed, EXCEPT FOR THE PATTERN, in the box. Make sure nothing is stacked, and get it all in there and hit combine. Once you do this, you will then get an infused halfling hide. At this point, you are done with the box. This is where people were having a problem I believe. Now you need to find a loom to finish the process. Unfortunately, I could not find a loom in Neriak. A helpful tailor told me that a sewing kit works the same way though. I went to the Dashing Form in Neriak Commons and bought a small sewing kit (two slot) for a few gold. I then placed the infused halfling hide in there with the pattern, hit combine, and I now have my Unholy Silk item. I hope this clears up any ambiguity for anyone.

Sandals and other armour

It seems the newbie armour quest is busted since the patch ... Talorial D'Estallian does not give out the patterns ...
As a side note the slippers now read sandals

This newbie quest is still working, you now have to say "I want the sandals pattern" instead of slippers, and he will give you the pattern. :)
Cryptic Writtings

For those wishing to know what these items do.. I have gotten a few.

Most items give
+2 Int, +3 Mana

Robe is +2 Int, +5 Hp, +10 mana.. woot.. (snicker)

I must say luring a High elf enchanter to work on her faction and kill the little nasty hobbits made my day.. hehe (snicker)
Yes I spoke to her in common (foul languages) but it was a must for the greater good of Dark Elf kind everywhere..

When asking me after I collected my skins where the town was.. I lead her into the bowls of the shadow men.. where she promptly died..
My soul feels better knowing another High Elf has given to the dark side only to die unhappy.. hehe

Oh don't worry.. there is plenty more hate to share with you other high elf/human scum that feel you can trod through my forest and kill my guards.. be damned you fools.. the same fate awaits you!!!

ok I have gotten off the path.. my oppologies my fellow brothers and sisters :)

I enjoyed so much killing the Hobbits.. but the Deathfist scouts are another matter. It would seem the blue moon over our forest would sooner be found then these nasty orcs. But a patient elf finds her enemies with their guards down.. :(wink)

As for the other items.. make sure you please put your snake eggs under your normal food. When you place them into the combine box, make sure it too is in a slot under your food or your stomach minght get the egg before your combine button does.. (humm it was good btw.. hehe)

Yes I was upset but I can only say I must have a fondness for the snake eggs I did not know.. I now seek snake eggs for supper from time to time.. ;)

As for that friggen bamboo.. I have not found it yet. Why I need these for silk I do not understand.. but I am not the creator of this demon possed item..

Be well my fine dark elf friends..

Fancy little dark elf.. looking for big strong Ogre's to guard her (wink)

I finished this Quest today

Here is the recipe that worked:

2 Halfling Hides
2 Fire Beetle Eyes
2 Malachite
(make sure they are not stacked)
(Malachites are available at The Bauble)

Once combined, the infused sandals hide gets combined in your sewing kit or loom with the sandals pattern.

Correct Sandal recipe
# May 23 2002 at 9:11 AM Rating: Default
I have done the quest and the correct recipe is 2 fire beetle eyes 2 malachite (found in the Baubble in 3rd Gate) and 2 matted halfling hides.

Just make sure to ask "What sandals" and then you will be given the correct recipe. Some of the various pieces you have to be careful how you word them or you will not get the pattern you need to make the item.

how to get slippers pattern
# May 07 2002 at 8:17 PM Rating: Default
i tried everything, but only after combining 2 different commands did i get the pattern...when asking for it, type 'WHAT WANT SANDALS' i know it sounds silly but trust me, it works...and FYI, Malachite is sold for silver at vendors...Mage summon pet component.

Im on the Saryn server if you feel the need to pass a plat or two my way to say thanks...LOL.

The Baubble in the Third Gate sells all kinds of gems, including the malachite. You can also buy this in the Mage Guild area.

ask for sandals, not slippers. The recipe is (2) fire beetle eyes, (2) malachites, (2) halfling hides

I completed the quest with the ingredients on top (not the fixed one, but recipe allakhazam says is the right one, and it didn't work. I'll give this one a shot. One Question though...
What, and where is a malachite found?

I hope verant add hundreds of little quests for newbies like this. I remember searching for decent equipment quests when I was a newbie and there was nothing I could do short of lvl 30 and that required hours and hours of camping a spawn. Nice work verant! but it should have happened 3 years ago.
Ah

You need to use the sleeve pattern thats why - the actual pattern is labelled unholy sandal sleeves - do the recipie for sleeves and all is well.
Recipe for Sandals

Just asked Talorial D'Estalian. The recipe is 2 Halfling Hides, 2 Fire Beetle Eyes and 2 Malachites. Also, don't ask for slippers. Ask for Sandals.

I should mention this part of the quest doesn't work. You can get the inbued halfling skin and the pattern, but they don't combine. I petitioned it, and the guide said he would report it and it'll get fixed in a future patch.
