' You say, 'I feel that I am worthy' Talorial D`Estalian says 'Very well then, you are lucky that I have been looking for some sort of an apprentice to help me out in gathering some hides from those nasty halflings. I did have a young one as yourself working for me before but unfortunately they didn't work out as you can see by looking at this autopsy table. I would hope that you will complete my [tasks], for your sake. ' You say, 'What tasks' Talorial D`Estalian says 'If you are willing to [gather some items] that are needed for specific halfling hides I can offer you with the resources necessary to fashion your own armor. ' You say, 'I will gather some items' Talorial D`Estalian says 'Excellent Nenriu. Please take this Old Enchanted Tailors Kit. It contains magical power that is able to fashion specific components into a magical version of whatever the core material is. If you are a Necromancer you will need to gather halfling hides that have been infused with many different elements that you will collect and combine in this box. Simply tell me what pattern you [want] and I will present you with the recipe necessary for [Gloves], [Robe], [Trousers], [Sleeves], [Skullcap], [Bracers] and [slippers]. I would recommend you fashion your Robe last due to the difficulty and complex nature that is involved with finding the items necessary. I have kept the binding of this sacred tome for a very long time however I have never searched for the pages that form the writ. I assure you that you will learn much from this writ shall you construct it once again. I believe the pages were in the hands of spirits that haunt the Ultricle still to this day. What the heck do you do? Where do you find the stewards and the other 3 pages?

Well i figured out after about 3 hours that if you kill the halfings over and over the Stewards will pop over and over soon as you kill the halfings, because if you listen to the darkelfs that are sitting at the campfire that the souls if the dead roam there .. so i tried it and it works , go to the tree truck where leatherfoot halfings are and kill them , go back and the stewards are poped ..

I've gotten 4 pages from the stewards etc. but it won't let me combine them. I'm thiking maybe I have the wrong pages or something? I've gotten a tome insert 1 and 4, and a tattered journal 2 and 3. Any help on where I've gone wrong would be appreciated, thanks.

Yeah, you need tome inserts, which only drop from undead stewards. Tattered Journal is a different quest.

I was happily killing yellow-con stewards at 11 without twinking; for some reason they don't seem to hit as hard as some of the dark blue/white skellies.
They're in the ultricle area in Nektulos near the lavastorm zone entrance.

I got the book today, took me about 2 hours, had page 4 drop 2 times, then 3,1 and 2
I read here first so was ready for a long camp, but went way fast.

I have been hunting the undead for 4 hours straight. Then a high level player stubled on 4 Zombies and 2 undeads, he gave me the loot and I now have 3 out of the 4 pages. I never saw another one the hole night, just zombies..
But the Scout scalps took me weeks, I swear that I killed hundreds of them and never saw a scalp. Finally I got what I needed to finish the unholy silk armor.
What a long quest.. Got 4 Levels though while on the quest.

WooT! just barely got mine tonight on Torvonolous. for someone who started out fresh and had nothing this book rocks.. a great item for people just starting out in the game.. It did take me a few hours of killing Stewards to get it but it did finally drop off on so it is a pretty rare spawn.. Just keep on trying and you will get it. Good luck all..

And just for those who are still unclear on this ALL Tomb inserts for this book dropped off Undead Stewards in the Ultricle.. (just so you don't go running all around Nektulos forest for nothing)

Thanks for all of you that confirmed they patched it in. I think the book rocks for a quest item at that level. I will head back to Nek right away. Grats to all necrros.

It's True...Got one on Mith Marr tonight. Nice stats for a low level, but it seems the other pages are dropping more often than page 4 (just an observation--didn't actually count).

The 4th tome page is dropping now, probably in the new patch that Verant did. Also, the petrified humerous bone is now dropping for the SK sword quest. The sword sucks, 5 30 +1str +1int, but the book is nice. Same stats as have been posted before. I just want to know how someone knew these stats before the page was apparently dropping, cause they had it right on the nose. Maybe it was just a one in a million drop and he got lucky. Its very possible that the dude did get the Fourth Page at that time. Perhaps it was on a steward after a server downtime and the code prevented it from dropping again. Anyway, thank Inny it finally drops. And thanks to all you who, like me, continuously petitioned and bug reported them to change it.

While working on my Evo skills, the second Steward dropped the 4th page. Went back and got the book and combined it. AC3 sta5 int5 hp10 mana20 sv f/m/c 2.

I have been completing the first parts of this quest and have almost completed. My lvl 10 necro is just bout ready for the final test.
I have read the entire thread of this quest and have an Idea where the 4th page may be.
One possiblity is to left of the WC entrance. There is a spawn location of undead there.
Two there are Invisibile Shadow Men to the right of WC entrance.
Three I ran into an Undead Steward while camping at an Orc fort waiting for Scouts. Could it be the final 4th page is on a wondering Steward.
and Finally, has anyone noticed Necro's have Dead Eye (See Invisible Infravision)! Maybe the rat ******* with the fourth page is invisible.
I will try all the above soon and let ya's know if I find it.

I have wandered around all of Nektulos and killed every undead in the zone, all orcs, all HFL to no avail. Additionally, I have Harvester, so I always have Deadeye up automatically. never seen any invis undead. However, you may have a point that the Steward for Page 4 spawns in a differnt undead spawn location. I have seen calcified skellies in that location. All that said, I would have thought newbies would already reported an appearance of the Steward overthere since that place is farmed for chips and exp by lowbies.

Ok I cast invisibility verses undead and followed a steward around for about 10 minutes. He walked back and forth between the Rocet Nife camp and the Ultricle area, and in the end was killed by one of the Rodcet guys. The Steward never dropped anything, so my theory is probably wrong about them possibly physically dropping the 4th tome on the ground.
The thing that bothers me is this: specifically, it is Page 4 of the tome that is missing. If page 3 were the only one missing, and we were able to find 4, 1 and 2, we probably wouldn't spend hours of our time trying to solve the "puzzle" of the 4th tome. Because it is 4, this is the highest tome number and therefore COULD be a missing piece of a puzzle. It allows for us to belive that it may not be bugged or simply missing, like the Halfling Toes were initially. But I think that it probably IS missing. I've hunted for hours. I've followed the Steward. I've killed the two Dark Elves around the fire several times. And nothing has dropped. I know that as soon as the Tome Page 4 is found, it will show on this websight, so I don't think I'll waste any more of my time.

It has been suggested several times that the quest is broken like the toes were. After 3 weeks of trying, I am firmly of this belief and will similarly not waste anymore time. I will check here often to see if it is discovered.
Only one thing came to mind about what you said. There are actual quest spawns that have the characteristic you described (Jewled Skull). Maybe the steward spawns over there and is immediately whacked if you dont get to him.

I too have spent hours trying to find the 4th Tome Page without success. In desparation, I even tried to combine the journal pages in the Book of Dark Bindings and in the Tome Binder, but to no avail. Maybe they physically drop the 4th tome, and we have to follow the Stewards instead of kill them? This is possible, since the coding is already in place for an npc to drop items onto the ground, as the Guards in the Qeynos hills do. Maybe the stewards are always killed to soon for this to happen.

i finally found a halfing toe...unfortunately though the page foru of the tomes is still mia...i spent a month looking fo the toe..turns out it was a bug..im paying 14 a month for bugs......i miss quake

Ok, you've had your laugh. The guards do not have the page. It was simply a trick to get Inkies to kill their own guards. LOL. I might have found one just as easily on HFL guards in Misty.
The faction hit is not that bad btw. I am still ally.

Went back after reading the post and found the item in my inventory.
Shortly afterwards I made a necro and played to level 10 .. no luck either .. have pages 1 - 3 and I'm sure the quest is bugged also.

I searched, died, searched, questioned and even begged for information. When I saw that toes where in a patch I cussed, but rejoiced when I finally found them and was able to make my robe.
Now the final task. The 4th tome. I have been searching for that for about 4 hours a night through the week and about 16 hours this weekend. Nothing but looking for the 4th tome. Even gathered a group of 3 together and did nothing but kill everything in that undead area for hours on end. 1st, 2nd and 3rd tome drop from time to time as do the journal pages. But no 4th tome.
As of tonight I’ve started a new character that isn’t a necromancer. I can only hope that its quests aren’t as poorly done as what I experienced with the necromancers.
Guess I had to vent some too.

Just like the HFL Toe quest, this seems to be broken. I have been camping the steward for 2 weeks straight and nothing. I clear the whole Utricle at my level and pet easily. Im talking every single thing wiped out for hours on end. Nada. There is no way a newb quest can be this long, its just ridiculous. Sorry had to vent. Wasted mucho time on this and the Toes till a patch.
The toes were fixed last patch, may people below are reporting that toes are dropping now
You failed to read my post carefully. I did not say the Toes were still broken. I suggested that the Tome Page 4 may be broken like the Toes were.

The undead area is in the corner of the zone near the Lavastorm entrance. As you approach the zone on the road it will be on your left. The halfling stump is just off the road near the newbie log. As you pass the newbie log on the road coming from Neriak you will see a stump on your right. Take a right off the right just passed that stump and you will see a second stump. Continue in that direction and you will see a third stump with several leatherfoots around it. I don't know what level you are but be careful if you are low level, they will gang up on you and they are casters. Hope that helps.

I have been killing the Stewarts for about a week now on the Tunare server. The best I can tell this is a killer item but I don't know if it's worth the waiting . By now I usualy am about 30 level , but after waiting on the invisible 4th page I still am 11th . Varent must just have been in a cruel mood when they thought up this quest . If any one figures this out PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know . My characters name is Darkust , and as always safe journeys my friends .

Spent another 3 or so hours last night and saw the three tome pages and three journal pages, but no page 4 of either. I've also tried every combination of these 6 pages in the tome binder and no luck. I just wish they'd come out and say the quest is broken so it stops driving us crazy. I don't know how many hours I wasted on the halfing toes for the robe, then got on in the first half hour of hunting after they fixed it last patch.

The 3 Journal pages (and there are only 3 of them !) is for the Cleric Final Test - don't mix them into this :-) (It's hard enough as it is :-))
