Visit Ulraz S`Lon in the Lodge of the Dead, Neriak 3rd Quarter. He is one of the ShadowKinght trainers in the center room on the first floor of the building.

You say, 'Hail, Ulraz S`Lon'

Ulraz S`Lon says 'So you are the next pathetic maggot I have the displeasure of training to be a useful Shadowknight of the Lodge of the Dead. First you must get yourself outfitted in a suit of [armor], those rags you wear can not even contain the stench of your miserable hide and will do no good protecting it from the edge of an enemies blade. '

You say, 'what armor?'

Ulraz S`Lon says 'Seek Krivn S'Tai in the Commoner quarter of Neriak and give him this request parchment. Krivn S'Tai has been paid in advance by the Lodge of the Dead for the requested service. Simply give him the request parchment and he will instruct you further. When you have outfitted yourself in a suit of armor return to the Lodge of the Dead and I will grant you [another task].'

Take the Parchment he gives you to Krivn S'Tai in the Blue Flame (BF) in Neriak Commons. When you hand him the parchment he will give you an 8 slot combinable container ('Mail Creation Kit'). Follow the dialog, using the appropriate [Key words] until Krivn lists the types of armour you can make. Then ask him about each piece to find out the recipe:

You say, 'another task?'

Ulraz S`Lon says 'Ah, you are eager to advance further within the Lodge of the Dead. Although it is my duty to aid your training, do not allow your arrogance to blind you to your lowly position amongst the Queens most loyal subjects. Your next task is to assist the construction of a [weapon] and [shield] worthy of being wielded by a Shadowknight of the Lodge of the Dead.'

You say, 'what weapon?'

Ulraz S`Lon says 'Beyond the mouth of Neriak lies the Nektulos Forest. There the walking dead can be found digging their way from the ashen soil of the [Ultricle], their flesh cured and hardened and bones strengthened from the minerals and volcanic ash in which they rested in death. Return some of these undead to the rest they have abandoned and bring to me some Leathered Zombie Flesh, a Petrified Humerus bone, and a Petrified Rib bone. '

  • Collect 1 Petified Humerus, 1 Leathered Zombie Flesh, and 1 Petrified Rib

  • Deliver these items to Ulraz S`Lon

    Upon turn in.

Ulraz S`Lon fashions the flesh, humorous, and rib into the likeness of a sword hilt. 'This will be the hilt of your new sword. Take this rough blade and sharpen it in a [forge] using a [sharpening stone], it may take you several attempts if you are unfamiliar with the process. Once you have sharpened the blade take the hilt and the sharpened blade to Opal H'Rugla at the Blue Flame.'

Ulraz S`Lon says, 'There is a forge near the Blue Flame Armory in the Neriak Commons and in the Ogre section of the Foreign Quarter. Sharpening stones can be purchased from vendors who deal in blacksmithing supplies.'

  • Combine the Rough Sword Blade and a Sharpening Stone in a Forge.

The recipe is NOT learned, so I do not know the trivial level. My blacksmithing skill doing this combine was at 322 at the time, unmodified with any trophy, and it said I could no longer advance my skill from making this item:

  • Head to Neriak Commons and find Opal H`Rugla.

She is in the Blue Flame building (BF banner outside) in the vendor area in the north-east, and she is findable in the CTRL-F menu.

  • Turn in the Petrified Bone Hilt and the Sharpened Sword Blade to Opal H`Rugla.

Opal H`Rugla says, 'I require both the Petrified Bone Hilt and the Sharpened Sword Blade.'

Opal H`Rugla fastens the sharpened blade to the petrified bone hilt and holds it briefly in the blue flame in the center of the room before passing the completed sword to your hand. 'A worthy weapon for a young Shadowknight such as yourself. Wield it with pride for your Queen.'

Finally got the weapon after 8 billion kills. It took longer to get the Leathered Zombie Flesh than any other piece. I actually had 3 petrified humerus and about 5 petrified ribs before I got the zombie flesh. The zombie flesh dropped off a rotting citizen just east of the halflings. The petrified pieces dropped off of the decaying councilman and decaying initiate.

I get the feeling this quest is nerfed big time. I spent 8 frellin hours with my lvl 19 SK trying to get the petrified humerous with no luck. And that was just one days worth of killing. I've been stuck on this one for several days. Do the looted items have a time frame they drop? what gives?

I'm a level 7 DE SK , I just started getting my bonemail armor,, after reading all of this and doing a little research, I think I'll go ahead and complete all the bonemail quests, including this one for the sword, for the experience if nothing else. I'm not 100% sure yet, but I haven't found any screenshots of a DE SK in full bonemail, weilding the sword and shield.. I think that might make it worth it after all.
Am I just a spoiled brat?

My Shadowknight just recently obtained this weapon and boy was I displeased. Don't get me wrong, the experience was an extremely welcome pay off, but the weapon itself was a disappointment. I already had a great primary and was hoping for something better (sporali defender's blade). I'm sorry if I sound selfish, but I genuinely believe I could have been spending my time doing something better than killing skeletons and zombies. I am still going to persue the shield, but I will try not to be too let down if it doesnt surpass my current one...(a chitin shell shield)

The Councilmen at the Ultricle do drop the petrified Humerous bones and the Greater skellies drop the calcified Humerous. I have completed the armor it just takes time and the councilmen do seem to be a rarer mob as for the Greater they do pop at the pyre nr the EC zone.

    # Oct 07 2002 at 6:59 AM Rating: Decent
ok here we go. I am not sure where i got the petrefied humerus but i believe it was a councilman. when you get the 3 items(zombie skin, humerus, and rib) take them back to ulraz s'lon. give him all 3 items at the same time,DO NOT GIVE THEM TO HIM INDIVIDUALLY, he will then give you a rounded sword blade and a bone hilt. go to the undergound in NC and go down stairs in the blind fish there is a man down there who sells sharpening stones there get some. goo out side of the BF there is a forge there click on the forge put in the sword blade and the sharpening stone and combine. continue to do this till the sword is sharpened it may take awhile if you are not a proficient blacksmith. after that take the blade and hilt to Opal H'rugal in BF give her both the items at the same time and your item will be complete. There is no bug just dont mess it up. and yes the sword really isnt that good and dooesnt look cool or anything i just wanted to know that i had it and that not to many people did. well thats that.

Go to Neriak Underground in Neriak Commons. The NPC downstairs in The Blind Fish sells sharpening stones.

Ok, I got all the pieces and gave them to Ulraz. in return he gave me a hilt and a blade. (here is whereI get stupid) Anyone know how to combine them?

Just a lowly ole SK who spent way too long looking for a non-existent humerous...

Yeah, do what he told you. Take the blade and a sharpening stone to the forge and sharpen it. Then take the sharpened blade and the hilt to Opal H'Rugla in the Blue Flame store (where you got the patterns for the armor, but a different NPC) and she'll combine them into the sword.

Well, congratulations. Is it another lore item, magic, no drop? Too bad on the other stats. I don't think anyone wants to wield a 5/30 (it's like a rusty weapon) everyone gives away better than that. I myself had a fine steel scimitar given to me at the newb log and I already have passed it on.
It could be good on Sullon Zek where you don't know who your friends are. Unless you are an ogre, troll, dark elf, or Iksar they still all worship the same deity team gods. Go figure. Want to play something that you really don't know who your friends are? Be a human.

    # May 10 2002 at 5:44 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah, just got mine using a humerus from a decaying initiate, and it's rather lame at level 16... just wanted to do the quest for the sake of completing it. That said, if the humerus had actually been dropping earlier it might have been more useful at the level where I could have got the bones, since it's a magic weapon which can hit wisps and the like.

Ok, so I'm using a MoSS that I was given by an SK who'd outgrown it, but even compared to my current 1HS slash weapon, a slaver's whip (5/23, +10HP) that I bought for a few pp to keep skills up, it's significantly worse. It's also very heavy for a race with relatively low strength.

    # May 08 2002 at 1:03 PM Rating: Default
Figures! I'm lvl 19th and now the patch is up for me to get the missing bone. I still think the weapon will be ridiculous. I am seeing that the halfling newb quests wield much more powerful items.
I'm going to do it just to have done them all, now realize that selling some bonechips and HQ bear pelts you will be able to get enough money to buy the following.
BABS 2hs 24dmg 39dly +3 vs poison magic light source for around 100pp wt 3-4 stones.
    Sporali Defender 1hs 17dmg 37dly magic 100pp
Chitin shield ac 17 +10 vs. poison 40pp.
If anyone gets the sk newb weapon pls post it asap.
I will try at 1pm pct.

The patch that came out today 8MAY02 states that the petrified humerous will now drop, so apparently it was a bug and has now been fixed, so all you other SKs out there start killin those skellis so we can see some stats on this damn sword FINALLY!!!!!!!!
    Clue?

Okay lets face it . Just because an NPC says Where you can get the Items doesnt mean its There. Ex: Wazakashi Of the Frozen Skies Quest. Its says that all parts can be founfd in StoneBrunt but its not true. You have to go to Oasis of Marr for Asp poison sacs. The Ultricle Symbol is rampant throughout Norrath. I think the last piece is somewhere else. It forces the newbie to Travel and experience places. The Field Of bone seems promising. All I know is that If im Right that person who finds it better get a whole bunch and make some serious money. I hear the cash registers in your head making change.

Here's a thought I just had. The shadowknight weapon, the cleric's final test, and the necromancer's final task all have a missing final ingredient to complete. Has anyone tried giving their items (the petrified rib and leathered zonmbie skin, tattered journal pages 1 and 3, or tome inserts 1,2, and 3) to the dark elves camped in the ultricle? They spend all their time waiting to die at the camp, maybe they hold the final pieces to all these puzzles. I would try this myself first, before posting, but I have to go to work now :(.

    Lesser Mummy?
    # May 01 2002 at 6:23 AM Rating: Decent
I have seen every undead mob in Nektulos Forest mentioned as dropping quest items, except the lesser mummy. I have fought at least two of this rare spawn, once at the wizard spire, and once in the ultricle, but nothing good ever dropped. Could this be the carrier of the elusive petrified humerus needed for the shadowknight weapon?
    RE: Lesser Mummy?
    # May 01 2002 at 6:11 PM Rating: Default
They are actually not that rare. I've seen quite a few of them near the Ultricle area and killed them when they were there. I did not find anything of use on them. Not even the sought after embalming dust. They can wander throughout the zone as well. I have seen them crossing the path between EC zone and Lavastorm zone many times.
    RE: Lesser Mummy?
    # May 02 2002 at 5:50 AM Rating: Decent
Hmmm... you're right, last night there were a lot more of the lesser mummies wandering around. I killed several, but still nothing dropped. Since they do spawn at the obelisk and the pyramid, the lesser mummies probably do not carry a petrified item. The guildmaster in Neriak specifically said, the soil in the ultricle is what makes the undead bones petrify. Oh well, back to the old grind.
    I agree

Im a DE Necro on brsitle and have had immesurable ammounts of trouble finding the darn 4th tome insert. I have killed thousands of skellies at the ultricle, and have seen just about every type of quest bone out there, except for the thrice-bedamned Petrified Humerous, so you SK's have my sympathy. Know that your Necro cousins are having just as much trouble finishing their new quests as you are 8 (

After 4 days of camping for Armor and the weapon and shield parts, I finally got a humerus to drop. So, I ran in to the bank to get the rest of the bones, and headed to the Guild.
I turned them all in, checking twice beforehand so I didn't hand in the wrong bones, and it ended up being a bugged quest. The guildleader took one bone, ate the second, and then took the third, so I'm not sure what's the deal. I petitioned, and the guide i spoke to told be to repetition when a GM is on.
I'm going to try to get my shield now. I hope this one isn't bugged too...

I thought I was probably the only SK doing this silly quest. The armor is nice for a newb or somebody who's broke heh.

Hopefully all this will be fixed before I start working on the sheild and weapon. I'm one rib cage and a pelvis away from having a full suit of armor. I've got a bezerker sword, but I want to see what this weapon and sheild look like.

All the armor quests and the shield quest do seem to be working, but the weapon quest seems to be broken. The shield (4 petrifed femurs and 2 basalisk hatchling hides) Looks similar to the shark skin shield from the Knights of truth quest in North freeport (round shield with brown Hide center) Stats on shield are something like AC 7 +1 INT +1 Magic +1 poison. Best thing is it is a magic shield for bashing. The femurs seem to mostly come off the Decaying Initiate. With the rib bone mostly on the councilman. The Humerous for the sword is the one piece of the quest that just can't seem to be found on anything. Rumors of a Decaying Citizen wandering around seem a likely source for the bone, but I personally have never seen this Critter.

I have talked to a GM as well and they don't know anything more than we do. He told me "It can only be fixed in a patch." Well about patches, there has been 3 since I started my Vah Shir Bard and I have had posted /bug regarding the ivory horn, and the lute of the jharin apprentice as stating they are instruments, but not giving the bard any bonus for having one equiped for bardsongs.
I'm not saying to give up hope, but just be aware that the game has become a bigger beast that they can handle. I've talked to another friend and honestly think EQ will slowly die over the next 2 years. I will keep playing until it's completely pointless.

You may want to check on that again and make sure that it is the PETRIFIED and no the CALCIFIED. Greater Skeles drop CALCIFIED parts. The best place for all of you who are doing the armor quest is the south monolith in the zone near the EC zone. I have yet to find the PETRIFIED HUMERUS, and I camped Ultricle from 5-15 and everytime I come back to Neriak I run through Ultricle and kill everything that moves. I have even put out a bounty for this 75pp for looting rights. If anyone on Solusek Ro wishes to collect the bounty on this please tell me

    Greetings all,

As with everyone, I have completed the Newbie quest armor and have only the shield and weapon to obtain. Seems like I can really only find the petrified Rib bone however!! I have killed the Decaying Councilman and Decaying Initiate several times and have come up with about six petified rib bones and ONE femur. Can anyone who has completed the shield lend any information on finding more femurs? I wonder if you can only find One bone per type of creature.

Decaying Councilman drops Rib bone. (seems he most always does)
    Decaying Initiate drops Femur bone??
Decaying citizen drops Humerous bone?? (I heard mention of this creatures name but have yet to see a Decaying citizen, just lots of rotting ones)

I need 3 femurs and a Humerous to complete my quests HELP PLEASE ANYONE! give me a tell online if you happen to have a bone to spare. (Perimus, Firona Vie server)

A buddy of mine said he talked to the GM, and he said the quest was working fine. If it is, they really need to up the drop rate. Does your level increase the potential for something to drop? Does anyone know the stats on the bone mail weapon?

I recently did quest and Gm said that it will not be fixed until they need to do a major patch. They also said that it does not drop at all. So people saying they had one are crazy. You can keep searching but that does not mean it will make it drop
