Requires amiable faction with the Deepwater Knights.

You say, 'Hail, Dleria Mausrel'

Dleria Mausrel says 'Hail! You appear to be a [new priest]. Ah, I so enjoy the presence of youth within Deepwater Temple. I am sure Prexus is smiling upon us as we speak.'

You say, 'I am a new priest.'

Dleria Mausrel says 'As I suspected. I shall assist you with your training and you shall assist the temple with your service. A young priest can help out by asking to or maybe even something truly great such as requesting to [protect the depths].'

You say, 'I will protect the depths.'

Dleria Mausrel says 'We have heard of zombies inhabiting the depths of Erud's Crossing. Go and seek them out. Destroy them. This evil should not exist within the realm of the Ocean Lord. Take this bag. Fill it with their rotting flesh, combine it and return it to me. May Prexus guide you.'

You receive an Empty Bag (identifies as "Zombie Flesh Bag"). Despite the quest text, you need to obtain four Zombie Skins, not zombie flesh. You can use zombie skins from anywhere, not just Erud's Crossing. Combine four in the bag to craft a Bag of Zombie Flesh, and hand this to Dleria.

You have fashioned the items together to create something new!

Dleria Mausrel says 'Peeuww!! That most certainly is zombie flesh!! Here is your reward. You have done a fine service in the name of Prexus. Soon you shall advance and we may tell you of greater dangers lurking in the depths.'

Your faction standing with Deepwater Knights has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with High Council of Erudin has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Heretics has been adjusted by -1.
You gain experience!!
You receive 12 silver from Dleria Mausrel.
You receive 4 gold from Dleria Mausrel.

You also receive a minor item.

From doing this quest 5 times, I just received a hematite and raw-hide gloves; in addition to the previously-known rewards of a backpack, a belt pouch, and raw-hide sleeves. Seems about right.

each turn in of 4 zombie skins is worth 20 points. That makes each stack of 20 worth 100 points. How doI know? I was apprehensive. I could not get this task. Killing Elial Brook got me to Indifferent. I still could not get this task. Killed Elial Brook more and got to Amiable. You must be amiable to get this task. I then did this task enough times ( took 35) to get to Kindly. That is 7 stacks of skins. which is exactly 100 points per stack if amiable span is 700. I then did another 5 stacks ( 25 tasks) to get to warmly. Since Kindly span is 500, that also matches with a 20 points per task reward

If you're in a hurry (say handing in stacks of zombie skins), you can skip the first two parts of the dialogue and simply say "I will protect the depths".

Cheers.

Go to the Warrens, bring with you 7 empty 10 slot bags (hand made back packs) and get 70 Kobold Molars, turn them in and then buy 220 zombie skins and turn them in and you will get very close to Ally faction. =) I am high elf pally and I went from Indifferent to Ally with 70 molars, and 220 zombie skins. You can get the skins in the bazaar. Things might be different for different races and such, but this worked perfectly for me =) Good luck all. hehe

DeepWater faction?
# Aug 14 2004 at 12:37 AM Rating: Decent
Hi all,

all the NPC's are conning dubious to me for any of the quest for raising my faction with Deepwater knights. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to raise that so I can at least start these small quests?

As long as you are a "good" race, Before the Zombie skin quest, do the
Barnacle Breastplateand the Odus Pearls quests.

Have water breathing available, pick up the 3 pearl spawns off the floor, kill the shark and baby sharks ... repeat.

This is a HORRIBLE faction quest.. I just spent 300p, which is a LOT to me on Zombie Skins.. Handed them all in (80), got DITTO for faction.. was already high amiable beforehand, and now I'm still amiable. Stick to killing heretics for your faction, and kobolds.

For the lower lvl ppl, I'd suggest Innothule Swamp near the entrance to Gukta. My froggie cleric managed to aquire a lot of zombie flesh right near the entrance.
Best farm for skin...
# May 03 2003 at 7:48 AM Rating: Decent
Best area for skin is just past lavastorm entrance in Nektulos (headin away from Neriak). There is a large area of barren stone filled with rotting citizens, all zombs who drop skin and rusty armor. Also some named lowbie skellies with quest items.

An excellent source for zombie skins is Gunthak Harbor. Swim over to the beach and look for the zombie trolls, who each drop 1 to 3 skins almost every kill. They were a good exp camp when my alt was 39 to 43.

The best place to hunt the zombies is the undead tower in North Karana. There are about 11 zombies there at a time. They will attack you about three at a time, but at lvl 14 or so, I was able to solo all 11 zombies without too much trouble.

As a paladin trying to build faction with the Deepwater Knights, I decided to work on this quest a bit. I did this quest with regular old Zombie Skin, since I didn't find any Zombie Flesh. I can verify that Zombie Skin works. I did find Zombie Skin on the sailors mentioned in the quest, but it can also be found in several other places on zombie-type creatures. Also the Tormented Dead of Unrest drop it, and the Drowned Citizens of West Freeport drop it. Another good spot might be to try the Obelisk with zombies in South Karana. Find a player who can use the experience while you help them level and they give you the Skins; you'll make a friend, and it won't be half as boring as farming them alone. Also you might go to South Ro and help a friend camp the AC, stocking up on Zombie Skins while clearing the area. When building faction, I suggest you do anything productive simultaneously to prevent insanity. ;)

I go farm zombie skins all the time in unrest, since i need them for my poison vials. I just sort of walk in, clarity for the lowbie cleric, alacrity for the lowbie tank, and ask nicely if they would mind given me what zombie skins they may have/get. its great.
Unrest
# May 07 2002 at 10:51 AM Rating: Decent
Another option is to go to Unrest. Keep all the Z. skins and return to do the quest. You get a little extra Exp. this way. Better than selling to a vender.

* First, the quest NPC, Dleria Mausrel, is found upstairs in the Deepwater Guild (NOT the Erudin Pally and Cleric Guild !), which is next to the Erud Library. She wouldn't talk to me until I had killed the guy at the Toxx Forrest docks a few times...then when my faction was favorable, she gave me the bag. I hailed her, then said "I am a new priest", then I said "I will protect the depts." and I got the bag. So faction first, then speak those lines.

* The closest place (for a non druid or wizzy that is) to get zombie flesh is in Erud's Crossing. You get on the boat to Qeynos, and it will zone into Erud's Crossing. After zoning look of side of boat and you will see island, I just jumped off and swam to it, not far. First I bought 4 skins off of Cat merchant named Renna (loc -1485, +860), and then I killed some zombie pirates at the sunken ship (it's on the eqatlas map).

* Returned to Deepwater guild, put skins in, hit combine, return bag, and viola, faction and some very minor loot. Since I had 8 skins, I did quest again right there.

I did the quest at my level for 2 reasons, first and less important, it helps (slightly) with Deepwater Knights faction for my epic quest... second and more important, I was bored and questing is always fun...at any level. If you need Deepwater Knights faction, see my post on Illiads Beastiary regarding Deepwater Knights faction.

You can get zombie flesh from the skeletons at the entrance to Paineel in Toxxulia Forest. Give them the useless caps that you sometimes loot from various kobolds in Toxxulia Forest. Check out the Mining Caps Quest at https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=311 .

Well if your gonna kill the 3 in the crossing you better be higher than 13 and have complete heal or lay of hands. I tried with a dwarf pally and only one when i could use lay of hands, two are a piece of cake but 3 at once for a pally with a wurmmy is tough, realy tough. So try to get someone to break the camp or do what i did, bring up the main have it kill one then log in and kill the other 2. I came here barely into 13 and after 2 hours left 14 and lots of bb richer.

I got exp for the pally by killing these and the wilowisp on the island and the main got the burned out lighstone for research, so killed to birds with one stone.

ALso the 3 zombies are on an 6 minute timer and watch out for the farmers that have enduring breath that like to sneak in under the water and still your camp while you mend and med at the shore. Had that happen 2 times in a row. Had to bring up the mains, get enduring breath and kill them with one nuke before the camp stealer could even attak. Did that until they left then brought the pally back up.

What's that got to do with this quest, and I doubt people would pay 3 pp for your poison vials when they could buy them from a poison vial vendor for 1.

I have found that this is a great quest to do while you're after supplies. I get bored killing spiders and wisps for the goods they give ya so after about half an hour of supply hunting I usually kill the zombies for the fun of it anyway. Since the skins stack I just keep collecting zombie skins till I'm done with my supply hunt, get back on the boat and go to finish the quest a few times. As a craftsman, the faction is never a bad thing and a little ex never hurt anyone either.

Quest FIXED
# Aug 11 2000 at 5:11 PM Rating: Decent
It's fixed now :)

Rewards are lvl 1 spell scrolls and very cheap items (i.e. rusty mace, worn great staff, buckler, etc. etc.)

HARDLY worth it considering that the zombies are lvls 9-11 or so and come in threes. The only use I see is faction, and after doing the quest 20 times (that's 160 zombie fleshes) my faction with the DW Knights went from amiable to kindly. So even the faction isn't that great.
